Do screen protectors affect color? - myTouch 3G, Magic General

The reason I am asking is because my brother and I both have the same phone (mytouch 3g) and his phone's colors are deeper/richer than on mine and the only difference is that I have a screen protector on mine and he does not. Is the problem my phone or is it the screen protector. I know I could find out pretty easily by taking off my screen protector but I want to see if anyone knows before I do so (once you remove a screen protector it is hard to put it back on).

A good one shouldn't. Its supposed to be clear

yeah that is what I thought. I think I figured out the difference between the two. His screen has a bluish tint and mine a yellowish one that is why his colors look better...(whites,blues,blacks). Is there an app that adjust the contrast/colors?

Whats the sticker/coating for on the HD screen

Mine has bubbles at the edges, has anyone peeled it off?, it's pretty well stuck on so I'm presuming it's not meant to come off.
See not so great pic
Did you buy this used? Looks like a screen protector a previous owner has put on. If so, it should pull off quite easily once you've got a fingernail under it.
It's a screen protector for sure. The HD comes with a screen protector (at least mine did back in Feb '09) - don't you remember putting it on? Unless it was pre-owned...
It was bought new, the original screen protector has been on, used and discarded, this thing has no hole for the front camera and fits better, also a lot thinner, I've tried peeling it up with my fingernails like I've been able to do with every screen protector I've had, but it is really stuck to the screen like it's supposed to stay on there.
I thought it might have been a teflon layer or something, I've read of other devices having a similar thing.
Thanks for your replies

Any idea how you can get rid of trapped bubbles in the screen?

Just bought a handset off of eBay, it's in excellent condition and I got a very fair price but there seem to be a few bubbles, the largest of which are in the top left and top right corners of the screen. At first I thought it may have been a second screen protector but it seems to be firmly stuck down so any suggestions on what I can try to remove the bubbles?
Thanks for any help.
are you sure that is not a screen protector?
i've never seen a SAMOLED screen with bubbles inside

Its probably a screen protector.

[Q] Ati-glare screen protector

I'm looking for an anti-glare screen protector, it doesn't even have to fit properly I just need a screen protector that will allow me to use the phone outdoors on a sunny day (which at the moment is not very easily). But the I saw this post on the forum saying

An anti-glare screen protector won't help the visibility in direct sunlight. The problem there is that the amount of light shining on the screen is more than what is being emitted by the OLED display, so the image is swamped, and a screen protector can't do anything about that.
The only thing an anti-glare screen protector will do is to turn the normal sharp, clear images reflected by the bare screen into fuzzier, more diffuse images. If you are bothered by seeing yourself reflected in the screen, for instance, then an anti-glare screen protector will reduce that to the point that you can see that it's a face but probably not identify whose face it is. That makes it easier to ignore the reflections and concentrate on the image on the screen instead. It's not a dramatic effect, but it is helpful (IMHO).

So I'm not quite sure what to buy and whether it will help me out or not....any ideas?

Anyone who reads this and has a black mist s4 can check the front of their phone under the sensors, camera, earpiece, to see if is a line/shape of a screen protector on it? I cannot catch in a picture what i'm trying to describe here, but when i look from different angles under good (not very bright light) , on top of the screen under the sensors and earpiece is a line/shape of a screen protector.
Can anyone confirm this, cause in case is a defect i want to return it.
Cheers

Nothing there for me. I held the phone in good light and looked under all the sensors and I don't see the shape or line of a screen protector. I have the black mist one by the way. Any idea what it is?
Sent from my GT-I9505 using xda app-developers app
Yes i have the black mist too, sometimes i cannot notice it , even if i want to ) but sometimes just jumps into my eyes. Best you can see around the notification LED , is like a U shape. (The way a screen protector is cut).
EDIT:
Ok this is weird... It happened before but now i'm sure i'm not going crazy.
So i wiped it with my t-shirt very well that side and was still there, after i took a cloth which came with a pair of sunglasses and i wiped and now i cannot see it again.
The thing is that cannot be dirty, because its a perfectly shape of screen protector when is visible. Maybe it becomes visible sometimes from fingers oil ..ect?
Still i want to know if anyone else noticed this
2nd EDIT:
Yep i can confirm that if you rub your fingers over sensors and earpiece few times its starting to become visible.
If you clean with a good cloth after its 100% un-noticeable in any light or angles.
Yea I'm certainly not getting anything like this. Must be a quirk of your phone specifically!
Is very hard to notice. Like now i can put it under any light or any angle and is not visible.

When you first got the phone, you probably peeled off the shipping screen protector (on the M919, it was black with a bunch of print on it). I strongly suspect that what you're seeing is simply residual from that being applied. Most likely, as your finger grease and whatnot gets on the phone, it highlights a slight difference which was caused by that original screen protector being on the phone. eventually, this will wear off.

Yes that's it. I checked now, cause i still have those original protectors in the box. Its the exact same shape i see sometimes when phone becomes dirty from finger oils. On 9505 its the same protector (black with lots of prints on).
I was just curious why is like this, cause when i wipe it with a good cloth it dissapears completely.
Mystery solved
Thanks

Good thing you didn't kill it with Fire!

Issues with the screen protector

I've been having this phone for a month and a half. I bought a screen protector with it and when I had set the screen protector I noticed that a ring forms around the screen protector as if it wasn't glued properly. After trying to set it properly for quite some time I just set it off and threw it to the garbage.
Afer some time I decided to try again with a different one, today it arrived and I have the very same issue as with the first one. I'm not sure if it is because the screen protectors are not very high quality or if this ring forms in all screens but since my device is black it is more noticeable than in white colours.
I hope you guys can tell me if this same issue happens to you or else it is my fault or the screen protectors that I bought.
I've had the same issue also. Like you...I took it off and tossed it I the garbage. I then tried the ones that are a bit short at the edges. All those ones did was attract dust and lint along the edges.. I tried another one with the black borders...that went in the trash too. I'm using my A1 with no screen protector, but I am using a case.
This is the problem with the curved screens at the edges. It's hard to manufacture curved perfect protectors that are hard. You may have to try the softer protectors. There's too much variance in the curves from manufacturing to be able to guarantee a proper fit.
You can have a look with my Nillkin screen protector review.
