I'm interested in upgrading my ROM. but, I don't have a pc. i browse via mobile. is there anybody is Bangalore who can Upgrade my HTC P3400i to 6.5. it would be great. i need a ROM that gives me more internal space.
no PC?? Then I think that you must go to your frnd or someone who does have a PC. You need to download a ROM first of approx 50-70MB...
hmmm, I can do that. which is the best ROM? i need my mobile to have good speed with a decent internal memory. any suggestion?
Sorry to break it to you, but its nearly impossible to do it unless you have a PC, because of the following reasons:
1. You need to study the forum
2. You need to study a lot in this forum
3. You need to study even more in the forum
Before you can safely flash your ROM.
I am really sorry for this, since most of the pple (atleast in India) don't have a PC. And honestly, I don't expect your friend to be generous enough to use your PC for hours.
Sorry again.
Just a piece of advise, don't trust for so called 'Senior members', instead look at a thread in "Upgrading forum" by krazy and see who are the people who has actually helped in upgrading.
Thank You and sorry again.
Well, that is the best advice I've got till now in any forum. thanks a tonne bro I'll do my research. My Friend's are pretty generous except for Karnataka Power Supply who keep cutting power . I'll check Krazy's forum. Cheers Bro. Have a good weekend.
You may want to take a really good look at the following three threads first:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=472169
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=513329
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=485835
The first one is the upgrading procedure while the latter two help you determine if your Gene is old or new.
Best of Luck

You can use Custom ROMS. Yes, there are risk of using them but if you read the directions properly and follow it closely nothing bad will happen. I had my TMO Wing for about 2 months now and I just recently flashed it. I didnt had any problems doing so. Then again I also spent at least 2-3 days reading about HARDSpl and all that to make sure I dont mess anything up. It's really worth it tho. Even if you mess up you can always flash back to the original TMO RUU. Custom ROMs will make ur Wing run faster and smoother than the Stock ones. After carefully studying and reading directions I spent probably 1 hour flashing my device. It's very easy to do as long as you read and follow the directions.

I say keep it stock. you don't want to incur envy and jealousy among other people by having operating systems that... operate, smoothly nonetheless. plus these kind of things lead to all kinds of addiction, including but not limited to: understanding of component functions of the phone, ability to help others(including beginners), knowledge of trouble shooting processes should problems occur, just anything you could imagine basically. i have even seen in one forum where they're trying to develop a death laser to shoot out of the camera... go figure.
like i said, keep it stock and that way there's no chance of it being 'truly' functional.
Well after much reading and skimming....I was able to brick, unbrick, and finally flash a rom that i like....
I took a while but the way i figure whats spending your whole day off learning about your phone in the scheme of things.
Ok. So, the T MOBILE WING is also known as the Atlas a variation of the original Herald model. This is very important to know because there are very many roms scattered about throughout the threads. IF YOU FLASH THE WRONG DEVICES ROM YOU MAY PERMANENTLY BRICK YOUR PHONE REQUIRING SERVICE OR A NEW UNIT!!!! So, be sure you know which device you have and which rom is for that device. Most you will find in a thread will more than likely tell you which model family it is for.
What I did was began with the HardSPL which you can find in the forums along with many different ways of installing it....
Then I installed a rom not designed for my device....VERY BAD....or so I thought. Much to my amazement because I read so damn much before I began I jumped back to some old thread and realized since i couldn't get the computer to connect properly i could still use my sd card to flash. I flashed the TMO original wing rom to the phone and viola` back to square one....
Next I called T MOBILE. I asked them to unlock my wing. They were very helpful and told me they would email me the info necessary. ***IN LESS THAN 24 HOURS I RECIEVED AN EMAIL TELLING ME EXACTLY HOW TO UNLOCK MY PHONE**** Do not waste your money on one of those websites that unlocks your phone your service provider will do it for free if you are past the trial period.
finally i found a rom I liked (open touch final ) installed it via sd card and haven't had a problem since.
Don't know who's ego I need to stroke but let me say that everything you need to learn how to do whatever you want with your wing is right here in these forums. Thanks to all the contributors and the guys who asked the dumbest questions I was far too cautious to ask. There is a plethora of information here I just wish it was more organized it was a lot of reading. But once again thanks to those who answered the tough questions.

Hi,
I am newbie on HTC HD2. It seems really good phone. I am happy to have it but I want to add some interesting apps on it to make it mine. I am not talking about wallpapers or screens. I mean other usefull apps . When I search apps section I can not see much. I belive it is new phone so not have much apps. When I read boards peoples says if I make my phone ANDROID ( I do not even know what it means) i will be able to have lots more apps. I am not good on systems so I scare I broke my phone and will not be able to fix it. For windows it is easy . I can go on market and pick what I like and phone automatic install it or I can get cab file from here and instal it. Please tell me if can run android and windows together? Or I better stay away from it? I read on board android is not developed yet and even good htc users having problems. Maybe someone assist me about it?

Ok...take a deep breath and think zen. ;-)
First of all, this is not a question you should bother developers with. They are, suprise suprise, busy developing.
Considering your experience with the hd2, my personal advice is to keep WinMo and search the forums for your cabs. You can customize about everything on your WinMo. You just need to invest some time and energy in it.
If you are stubborn like me...read further:
Yes it's possible to run Android and WinMo on your hd2. If you're new to linux/android/hd2 it'll cost you more time and energy to understand it all.
Very Important:
To install Android besides WinMo, please make sure you have read and understood this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=732380
Also, make sure you read and understand this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734335
Please make sure you know what you're doing before you start using Android. It's not that you'll brick your phone, but you'll risk being flamed for asking questions which already have been asked 100 times before.
Good luck and be careful!
Ok I will read more. thanks.

Hey guys, I'd like to introduce myself first. I usually go by "Thewaffle1" on most forums, dont ask how I came up with it haha. I'm very new to the HD2 community, but not so new to the whole "phone hacking" scene or whatever you want to call it. I used to have an iphone for a long time and I jailbroke it and customized it and all that jazz.
As of two days ago, I bought my very own HTC HD2, and am so far very happy with it. I must say though, I know there are many things I have yet to do on this phone because Im afraid im going to mess it up, or "brick" it. I come to you today for some guidance; Are there any threads I should read besides the stickies?
I kept reading about this .net microsoft compact framework thing, and I installed it on my PC but im not too sure what it does or how to use it.
I also have now idea how to install it on my Phone either.
I would greatly appreciate it if any of you fine folks here could set me off on the right path.
Thank you very much for your troubles,
Waffle.
Welcome on XDA sir! (join the group)
Like you mention it's useful to start with reading the sticky threads.
On this thread most of the simply but most in commend questions new users ask are bean treat, so take a look on it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=784430
After that there is one important rule; "reading and following the informations mention in each post"
Maybe you will say this is obvious, but I must say the most of the problems that users make is by not following the instructions.
I hope this helps you, if you have more specific questions just ask.
As kurt said.... Welcome to XDA......
For ways to install .net framework look here....
You dont "use it" as such........ its something that is just there because it needs to be if you know what I mean....... once its installed you dont need to really think about it ever again.........
most custom ROMS will come with it cooked in anyway and if you had your old iPhone jailbroken your probably the kind of person thats going to want to flash a custom rom at some point........
Thanks for the replys guys!
So i have the .net thing install on my PC, how do I install it on my Phone?
and once i do have it installed I can just drag and drop all sorts of roms onto my phone or what?

.net is a needed application fore some other application can work.
it have nothing to see with rom.
about how to install, take a look on the thread I give you previously the link.
I did my first post to day after many hours reading about how to root.
I made it with out help, but I was not confident.
I got a privat message Where someone aked how I did it. I have to say " Don't ask me".
The reason is that there seem to be a lot of traps along the way.
I read about one metod and started that, but then there was a warning and another suggestion. Then I went for the next one and again another suggestion.
I gave up and just picked the one with largest tread .
The things I'm wondering about are . Is there a sticky about how to step by step do it ,or do everybody need to read a lot and still be unsure about whitch way to go for?
Normally one way is better.
Is it not possible to concentrate it around one way?
There are lots of treads about how to do it but I'm confused about the warnings " if yod did it that way you can't use this file ,but need to look around for a file that you can use"
I did put in a new kernel and want to try a complete Rom,but I don't know if I can use a kk9 rom for my phone. There was a warning about use CF ready or made Rom ??
Is there,or if not, why is there not a sticky about how to tweak the easiest and most widely used way for beginners in this forum?
Then more people dear to start. More people is more money to those who make the files.
If there are many ways and conflicts, maybe a link to the compatible way can be posted together with the rom, kernel or what type of file that's posted.
Please correct me if I'm the only one that feels that there are to many choices for nearly the same thing.
Maybe I'm spoiled from the way the Norwegian apple forum was build for beginners to professionals.
Or maybe it's not a standard for whats the best way.
+1 on this!!
Yeah after paying what I paid and probably would have to deal with a nightmare of a return I'm not about to root or anything until its been run through it's paces a million times. Actually since there don't seem to be any solid ROMS yet I have not desire to anyway.
Also I rooted and unrooted my ATT Galaxy S2 a bunch of times and it ended up not able to connect voice calls for some reason. Had to return it. Not sure if it was related but I don't want to risk it with the Note.
I used to enjoy the video's explaining the Jailbreaking process from start to finish(iPhone). Has anyone seen a video guide for rooting/Roms? The only experience I have with Rom flashing is from the Windows mobile days, where as easy as jailbreaking(easier infact)

Hi there!
I found it here on XDA: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1371070
Within it is a (Great) review of the Note. It is IMO worth to read it through, although it is very long.
Also, the same guys at AndroidNZ made a step by step Rooting guide, with a video (I did not watch it yet, because of corp. firewall ) You can find that here: http://www.androidnz.net/2011/11/at-your-own-risk-how-to-root-your.html
Happy rooting!
i have rooted my phone so how can i install rom ... Gnote cant use rom manager and it is such pain
Yes it can. I haven't done it myself yet, but search through a couple of threads and around 293 posts, and you'll find it
Ok, just kidding. Here's the link (scroll down to the bottom of the first post) :
