anyone found a hero thats fast? - myTouch 3G, Magic General

every hero i have tried is slow.. or gets painfully slow after a day of use..
anyone found any hero that works and is fast?
and im on a class 6 card.

im with you on that one.
i actually want to know if its something i am doing wrong.
i mean im installing the HERO ROMS and partitioning the SD cards as directed but 3 HERO ROMS i ahve tried have been so slow that they dont even respond to my finger touches to move over even if i try really slow and hard not a quick flick.
i installed the Evil Hero Rom 1.3x last night and this mornign after i took it off the charger at 10am by 1pm i was down to 23% batter life WTF and NO blue tooth, NO wifi and NO GPS at all and i wasnt even usign the phone it was just sitting on my desk while i took care of work.
i removed that ROM and installed the JACHeroSki-v1.4-sapphire that just came out today and its just as slow so i removed that one and tried
Qteknology Hero (WWE Dump) for G2 Magic-Voda 32B CC v1.3b and same thing just as slow.
all 3 HERO roms i have tried are so slow on my Mytouch that they just get HTC splash screen reboots and do not respond to my finger touches for anything.
so at this time i really do not think its teh ROMS per say but something I am doing wrong because i havent seen anyone else complaining like me, a few people saying quirks and some saying they lag a BIT but not as slow as i experience.

are you guys on 32A?? I just installed the MyHero rom and its the fastest one ive tried so far. time stamp issue still prevalent though

im on 32B and i have always made sure i do a complete wipe using the recovery image first before flashing the new roms
i mean i dont even know much regarding COMPCACHE and SWAP ROMS
some say COMPCACHE and some say SWAP
both ROMS alwyas have details included that state you MUST have 3 partitions setup fat32/ext2,3/Linux-swap
i have made sure in the recovery image that i format the SD card to 3 partition first and then once that is done i copy the HERO rom i want and renameit to update.zip and then i perform a WIPE DATA and then APPLY UPDATE.ZIP
and i have tried ROMS with COMPCACHE (the Evil Hero ROM) and then i also tried the one with SWAP
which ones should i be using? what is the difference between compcache and swap anyways?

NO! Do they even exist for the 32B Magic?
I've tried the original Fatal1ty Hero rom, the Qteknology and the evil one (both this week). For me, they are not responsive enough to use on a day to day basis. If I have to wait more than 5 seconds for my phone to do something it quickly gets annoying, I always end up going back to CyanogenMod ...

ya im on 32B.. and had no problem with installs .. just dog slow.
and i have 32MB of swap on a class 6 card.

i also go back to cyanogen

only thing i can suggest to possibly speed some things up on a class 6 sd card is to swich your swap size to 40mb... that seems to be the sweet spot for me, although its still unusable... i'm currently testing hero roms without apps2sd (or trying to at least)... from my experience any ROM runs faster on the mytouch with apps2sd disabled...

Actuaully an update i am using this Hero ROm
(V1.3b) Qteknology HTC HERO PORT from WWE [1.76.405.6] 32b
in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=540745
and it was slow at first but after everything cached it seems to be doing fine.
its not too terribly slow and i also increased the Processor speed to Max 527 to help as well and i noticed a difference.
i can actually use it now and i dont really get many HTC Black screens except when i attempt to edit the weather widget.
Only draw back is the blue tooth doesnt pair with my cars bluetooth hands free system in my BMW

"Only draw back is the blue tooth doesnt pair with my cars bluetooth hands free system in my BMW"
I'm jealous. Wish I had a Beamer.
I too am running Qtek's ROM and it's incredibly fast for me. It seems that each Hero ROM has a slightly different reaction to each phone. My Mom's Mytouch could not run the Hero ROM from QTek cuz the screen went pixelized. I however, had no problems. Strange.

I've been running Fatal1ty's Hero rom and is fast enough for daily useage
setup:
bypassed his swap setting (always deny upon flash) and ran the new swapper app
I do have a swap partition to work with the new version swapper app
delete stock, mail, peep, footprints (and a few more I can't remember)
did the priority mods found here
I'm still trying to figure out why wifi-tether won't start up on Evil's Hero rom.
Both my myTouch'es have had no luck with Qtek (pixelation).
And ported version of Drizzy's still gets pixelated.

Im so close to switching my Mogul out for a Touch

Help Before I make a mistake.
I Just picked up this 6800 2 weeks ago and im still within my 30 days.
In that 2 weeks I have went from the original 2.17, Beta 3.16, No2Chem5047, Dcd 2.2.6 back to No2Chem5048.
Basicaly I love the phone. I Love the GPS and RevA. I personaly don't use gps because I have a older PPC that I run TomTom6 on. The Keyboard is sweet and the Wifi Is Huge for me.
The problem is the Ram is giving me a huge headache. A clean rom boots for me at 20mb which is ok. I love the software the Touch has and once I start loading it up to make it feel more like a Touch the ram gets crushed. I have tried every Tweak in the book to shut down startup items to shutting down services. I have made compromise with the touch software I can and cannot load because of memory. Basicaly Im sick and tired of this and its giving me a huge headache. Its like I can't make it look the way I want without sacrificing the very limmited memory.
Maybe its me but after a while at 13mb free or lower with nothing running it starts to feel a little slugish.
What it comes down to the size of the phone doesnt bug me . The keyboard is a real thing I worry about but I use the touch keyboard on my mogul for 1 handed texting sometimes so im already use to it. The wifi is great but im feeling I would take more memory at this point I dont want to get rid of my mogul but if I dont I feel I may throw it out the window if I get one more memory error.
i have a htc kaiser (tytn ii) and at&t tilt (branded kaiser) and the sprint mogul. kaisers has 128mb of ram while mogul has 64mb. my mogul runs faster, smoother, and less problematic than the other two. at some point i felt like i needed more ram on the kaiser as well, but when i saw how the mogul ran, i even switched to sprint. so i too hope you wont make the mistake of exchanging it!
I don't know lol. Maybe its just the fact that I dont know these new devices very well and how they are suppose to run. Before this phone I was on several palm treos for 4 + years. The only thing I can compare it to is my old ipaq 2200 and that thing is 5 times faster then my mogul. Maybe its just WM6 is a memory hog.
I guess it feels like its a little sluggish when its running 13 mb or lower. If there was something I could overclock with that might help me a little thro the rough parts.
What I cant Figure out is out of 45.2mb of program memory and usaly 60% or more is gone. where is it all goin lol? I have alot of the services shut down and only my startkey is loaded at startup . I can sit there and watch everything running and the math just doesnt add up to 25+ of ram. Maybe i just not understanding how these things run.
I thought a touch would be the quick fix that i needed since it had 128mb. I dont know I guess ill think about it for a few more days or whatever
I've seen ROM's on the Upgrading forum that have 30 MB free at startup. That's huge, and it makes me wonder why the more popular (no2chem, dcd) ROM's don't have that much free.
Don't do it!
I did just what the OP is thinking about and what a mistake. Although the Touch runs very well, the lack of a physical keyboard is too frustrating for words. Also, the touchscreen is nowhere near as responsive or accurate as the iPhone or iPod Touch. Beware!
For me, the most important feature of the Mogul is the wifi. If it wasn't for that, I'd have a Touch.
Are you using the Oxios memory program? That helps a ton! And you have to be diligent about actually closing out programs and not just minimizing it. Sure it takes a bit of diligence, but having wifi is well worth the effort IMHO.
I dont know if you are, but if you are running the HTC Home today screen plugin, try your phone without that. It slowed down my phone so much, just by having that one plugin on my today screen. I have replaced it with UltimateLaunch and now my phone seems to run twice as fast
I went to the 2.3 DCD rom yesterday. Every other rom had a ton of memory leaks and connection problems.
Tip:Try Spb mobile shell and Spb pocket plus. They do just about everything you can hope for out of HTC mods and they use almost no memory, dont lag up the phone, make your Mogul very touch friendly and look a ton cleaner then anything I have seen anyone make so far. You can make your phone so you almost never have to use the menue ever. I have everything on my desktop and the stuff I dont use constantly is one touch away no stylus needed.
I have tried every cab on the web that I could find and any and all roms I can get my hands on. The only rom that runs well is the latest DCD with Spb mods on it. I will never go back to the HTC stuff untill they can get there **** together. ATM there software sucks HUDGE! Honestly the HTC stuff always stinks imo and always has but thats just my 2 cents.
I feel your pain man... was in the same boat as you... I just got my 6800 a few weeks ago and it really took a lot of playing around with software combinations to find a set that works well...
The wifi and keyboard are really really useful the more I use this thing and I know I wouldn't be able to do without them so I pained into trying to work around this memory problem.
The main thing I found that eats the hell out of memory is today plugins. I had good luck with SPB Mobile Shell but recently just went back to plain jane today options with weatherpanel which seems to be very solid memory wise. That combo'd with Quickmenu for quick-launch ability, I can usually stay around 20mb at all times. Today plugins also lag the heck out of switching between apps... like going into a text message from a notification... no flashy today plugins make a much faster and cleaner operating system.
Very disappointed to see all these memory problems but I don't think it's the device... it's the software..... os and apps.
Well after a few more days of thinking about it and going to best buy to try out the touch. I relized how much I would miss a nice keyboard . Yea the ram was nice but it felt just as sluggish as mogul . Im seriously thinking a small overclock would help both of these devices. Its just to bad theres nothing out there.
I tried the Dcd 2.3.1 the memory was great best rom I seen yet for memory . After a day of useage out of the new dcd I noticed the rom was alot more sluggish of all the wm6.1 roms I tried. Today I went to No2Chem5049 and all I installed was pocket plus and mobile shell.
I had enough of messing around with roms for a while. I am running at 14-15mb free and 17.8 bootup. It feels somewhat responsive and im just gonna sit back and enjoy my phone for once
blahhhh
blahhh
I wanted to switch to the touch too. After the new DCD rom I have about 6 more mb than I had before the other ones. I used to have to reboot it about twice a day. Now I could probably do it every other day just to keep things fresh. Right now I'm cooking some roms and testing out NexVision roms to see what one fits me better. Just testing out different things to get it to where I like it.
Is the phone perfect? No but it seems to get better every month. I think it just frustation for me when I want to trade it because it takes forever to get the things you want it. With the UC or cooking your roms, it takes a lot less time to install the programs. I don't notice the ram too much unless I'm down really low. I don't use wifi much and keyboard I'm' fine with either that or touchpal. I would rather have those things than not have them. It doesn't take too long to reset to get my ram back and it is holding better than ever.

Making Cyanogen Faster?

Hello xda community. I just rooted my phone to the cyanogen mod. I was reading this forum about people loving how fast the cyanogen mod was. I was hoping it would make my vanilla MyTouch3G 32b faster. But the results disappointed me. It seems the phone is at the same speed as before but it is more unstable.
So I have this question:
For those of you that have successfully installed cyanogen, can you please tell us what you did to make your phone "faster"?
Cyanogen version?
Size/class SD Card?
Spare Parts options?
Partition Sizes?
Recovery Image?
Anything else you have done.
I'd like to compile a list that will help everyone determine what is the best/fastest way to optimize your phone.
and please ONLY cyanogen users! I dont want this thread turning into a debate about what is the fastest ROM is.
-=-=-=-=-=-=
Here are my specs/problems
I followed step by step installation instructions from the official cyanogen wiki
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php/Full_Update_Guide_-_MT3G/Magic_Firmware_to_CyanogenMod
I had to downgrade from 1.6 Donut to 1.5 Cupcake and then install the cyanogen
Here are my specs
MyTouch 32B

CyanogenMod-4.2.12.2
Micro SD card 8GB Class 2
Here are my issues:
Random Freezing and auto rebooting
-I tried using google maps to navigate to a bar and the thing shut down leaving me directionless! gahh! I know the official MyTouch ROM would not do this to me.
Alarm clock would not STFU
-I set an alarm lastnight and when it went off this morning, it would not turn off. I tried everything, turning off/on the alarm, snoozing it, and putting the phone on silent. I eventually had to hold the red button to turn the phone off. I didn't go back to sleep atleast. lol.
I have messed around with the spare parts like
Compatibility Mode
Compcache enabled
Home app in memory
I just cant find a way to get the same results as you people, so lets contribute and make this thread awesome!!!!

thanks ill try it. but like i said before keep this as a Cyanogen thread!!
Theres another thread on here to add your 2 cents about the fastest ROM for the Mytouch. Or you can PM me if you really feel the need to tell me another ROM is faster than Cyanogen.
This thread should be a compilation of Cyanogen users!
I've been asking the same question myself for a while now. I've been having speed issues with my MT3G even after installing latest CM rom, setting up a swap partition, turning on compcache, turning on/off home app in memory and the 10mb memory hack. I simply cannot get the same speed reports as other users. The linux swap partition sort of helped but I started to have the same slowdowns after a few days of use. Rebooting helped for an hour or so.
I have only had random reboots twice and I havent had the alarm clock issue at all.
Its strange because at first I thought it was all the random apps that kept loading by themselves and kept running in the background. I use Advanced Task Manager to kill them but after several minutes of switching back and forth between 2-3 apps, the same issue pops up again and I have to rekill all those apps. (I wish I could figure out a way to set up auto-kill but the options cant be changed). Then again, sometimes I have a TON of apps running (like 10-15) and the phone runs fine for a while, and then at other times the homescreen is slow as ****, opening apps takes like 3-5 seconds to load, browser scrolling lags badly, home screen scrolling wont respond for 5 seconds or so. Its incredibly annoying because my friend's MT3G running the stock android from tmobile runs even faster than mine running latest CM rom.
So... hopefully this thread provides some sort of remedy for the issue.
I also have cyanogen mod on my magic,
at first it is very fast, however after installed some games and apps the phone seems to speed down a lot, I even have advanced task killers to turn off apps I don't need.
Is there anyway to speed up my phone a bit?
What app do you guys use for overcloack?
And sometimes when I use camera the phone reboots itself.
Todays 4.2.13 has given mine a huge speed boost. 4.2.12.2 was the first time I had tried, I too was frustrated thinking it would be faster.

I've tried several, cyanogen mod roms (altough not .13). I have tried Hero Roms, almost unrunable.
Currently on Super D. Thats the fastest I've seen this thing run, but still very sluggish.
Thinking about going back to stock at this point. But I do remember this thing ran fast at one time with roms and I want to get back to that.

Anyone else had this luck with .13? I've since gone back to the stock ROM after trying CM's latest (not .13 yet)...
.13 made it even worse for me. After updating Contacts.apk, I could not make phone calls (it would hang trying to connect the call and then hang up) and then when pressing the call button on a contact, the app crashed (force close process.android.acore). When connected to a PC via USB, it would not charge, wont recognize the phone and would not show up the "mount USB" option in the notification menu. Rolled back to 4.2.11.1 since then.
I'm upgrading to 4.2.13 and I have experienced some similar issues in 4.2.12.2, I think that is my sdcard class 2, I will buy a class 6 next week and will comment here the results.

I solved my sluggishness last night and am working on a guide as we speak on how I did It. I will post a link to it on this thread when it's completed. Eta. 2-3 hours.
Heres the guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=618092
See my sig.
I have just used myBackUp pro to back up everything. Mounted my phone. Moved it all to HD of PC.
Then i go into Amon Ra Recovery. I do all the wipes except for the battery wipe. and if i have the time first before i wipe, I also repartion my SD Card and repair the partition once I create them for good measure. Then i do the flash the 1.6 Rom and then the Cyanogen ROM and then whatever else. Reboot and all is good with the world. If i reparitioned, i copy everything back on my card which should included the resources at this point. Then i do a restore from my backupPro and we are cooking with fire.
I think we are all saying the same thing. Just a flash should work or just using the updater should work. But if it doesnt, you should be prepared to go to recovery and wipe.
Hey guys, I fixed all of my issues (for now at least). From this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=5374606#post5374606
Bingo, I found the problem. Apparently I was using an older version of the 1.6 base rom. I used the defanged base rom and the error stopped. I can now download apps fine too.
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.ph...er_rooted_ROMs
No problems with contacts app, long-touch or the call button causing force close issues. I can make calls fine as well. During application backups using MyBackup Pro (excellent app), the installs were going fast as ****, which never happened to me before. It would really slow down the phone.
Restored Data, rebooted (which is actually quite fast now) and although the home screen took a little longer to load my icons/widgets, everything is running smooth. Even the power manager widget reacts super fast when I press on the buttons. Brightness changing is instantaneous. Home screen responds quickly, no lags in touch responsiveness... and I don't even have swap OR compcache enabled OR the 10MB memhack.
FINALLY.
So it looks like the base rom was the issue, at least for me.

Impressions on running CM 6.0/5.0 on 32B Magic

Hello,
I've had a couple of problems:
1. Low memory on 32B makes it really hard to use with multiple apps, apps struggle to keep resident in memory. There is no 10 MB RAM hack for CM 6.0 or 5.0 AFAIK. Option for keeping the Home Screen resident in RAM helps, but still it will reload slowly occasionally when the device is under memory pressure.
2. Reception is flaky, the signal bar goes to 0 (usually after I bring it from standby), and call audio is being interrupted in this case. This problem is already mentioned here http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/4179-reception-problems-with-cm6-rc1/ and upgrading the radio to the latest available for 32B doesn't help according to this guy.
I'll be trying CM 4.2.15.1 now and see if that improves the situation in any way.
The jury is still out for me. I was very happy with CM 5.08...performance was smooth and I rarely had force closes.
Since upgrading to CM6, performance is about the same or perhaps a bit worse...definitely not better. In addition, I'm getting lots of force closes...primarily with the new 3D gallery, but also some with Voice Search and even occasionally the HTC keyboard.
I have dither, JIT and compcache all turned off. I've tried different heap settings. I've also experimented with different memory settings using Minfreemanager. I can't seem to shake the force closes.
I've purchased a class 6 sd card and will try swapping next. If that doesn't help, I'll probably go back to 5.08.
Overall, I think the CM 6 build is solid and beautiful. Unfortunately, I think Froyo is a bit beyond the hardware capabilities of the MT3G 32B. I've read of some users who are very happy with it, but that's not been my experience thus far.
My experience is that 5.0.8 runs better on the 32b mytouch also. CM6 gave me the same issues, all related to not enough memory. I couldnt get get swype to install at all due to not enough memory.
I also do not find CM6.0 to run very well on my 32B. I've tried all the permutations of JIT, swap, setCPU, dither, etc... It keeps force closing a lot, the keyboard is flaky and unresponsive, and it just isn't as smooth as most other ROMs I tried.
It's too bad but I'm switching to another ROM altogether.
Just to update, I decided to purchase a class 6 sd card and try a swap file. I wiped, reinstalled CM6, then used swapper 2 to setup a 32mb swap file. So far, performance matches that of CM5.08. I've not had a single force close and performance is normal...or atleast as normal as is possible with the 32B.
I still believe Froyo is pushing the limits of the MT3G 32b, but so far so good with swap.

The Long & Winding Road To Android 2.2 on HD2

If you're like me, a subpar or incomplete Android 2.2 on HD2 experience was NOT an option. I've been through pretty much every combination, followed everyone's advice and always ended up unhappy for one of several reasons :
1. The ROM I installed was missing features, like the camera or other features that crashed.
2. The dreaded "Sleep of Death"
Not to say anything against any of the ROM chefs, because these guys are hard-working geniuses and they do this for free... for us...
But having said that, I had to keep trying. I'm obsessive compulsive when it comes to my gadgets and once I had a taste of Android on the HD2, I knew I wouldn't be happy until I found that elusive combination that made it work the way I wanted it to.
If you're having trouble making Android work on your HD2, listen up... Because now mine works like a charm and here's how it happened...
1. You absolutely HAVE to get rid of the stock Windows Mobile 6.5 that comes on your HD2. I never found a way around that. Until I flashed a custom ROM, it never worked 100%. To do this you need to flash HSPL to your HD2. This allows the installation of custom ROMs.
2. You have to strip Windows Mobile down to next to nothing. If you plan on using Android 2.2 as your daily operating system, you don't need it anyway. I tried lots of versions, but face it - you won't need WinMo anymore once you get Android working 100%. For this, use Chuckydroid, hands down. It is stripped down to next to nothing - no Sense 2.5, nothing fancy in Windows Mobile. BARE. BONES. Chuckydroid can also be set up to autoboot into Android!
3. After installing Chuckydroid, I also flashed Radio 2.15 just to have the latest radio. I've heard people talk against it, but again - I'm working 100%, so I'm happy.
4. For my Android ROM, I chose Mdj revolution 1.5, and updated to the S1 Linux kernel. It was one of few builds that had all features working as they should. The S1 kernel patches a lot of issues that might arise with the MDJ build.
5. Lastly, I noticed I didn't have 3G signal after all this and discovered that at some point my APN information (which tells the phone how to connect to data services) had been wiped out. I am a TMoUSA customer, so I found the information for the USA servers and added it manually to the phone. (System/Wireless & Networks/Mobile Networks/Access Point Names)
I know this isn't every piece of information you need, but if you read each point and investigate on your own, you'll find there's a wealth of information out there to guide you through each step, but to clarify :
1. Flash HSPL (I used HSPL 3, but follow the directions when you find it)
2. Install Chuckydroid (No other custom ROM worked and I tried them all)
3. Flash Radio 2.15
4. MDJ Revolution 1.5 w/ S1 kernel (Most stable and complete I could find)
5. Manually configure APN
Again I'll close with the fact that I have a fully-working Android 2.2 HD2 device. All features, all functions, no errors, no robot voice, no SOD, no gremlins... It just works. Good luck! If you have any additions to this plan, let me know! I'd like to know that I was using the newest 100% WORKING(!!!) Android built with all the best features.
I'd also like to add that, given my luck, now that it's taken me over a week to get Android 2.2 working flawlessly on my HD2, in the next day or so we'll see one of four things :
1. A flashable Android 2.2 ROM that completely replaces WinMo as the Operating system
2. A flashable Android 2.3 (3.0) Gingerbread ROM
3. A flashable Windows Phone 7 ROM

before 1,2,3,4 you can also try:
0. replace kernel with s2 also made by mdeejay. they say it's very good
thinking better i don't belive this thread belong to this section

Well I tried a lot of these "quick shortcuts" to make things work and nothing did. Believe me, I've been down every road to make this happen...
and yeah I guess I put this in the wrong section now that I look at it. Sorry!
Yep, this thread have to be moved into the Android General Discussions section.
Just let me know if you have a constantly data transfer on on your "working-like-charm" Leo and I'll immediately flash ChuckyROM (which version?), 'cause I've tried EVERYTHING, my battery lasts 3,5/4 hours running Android and I have to recharge it twice everyday...

try this combo:
- wm - energy nov 8 21684 cht 1.8.5
- radio - 2.15
- android - mdeejay revolution 1.5
- kernel - mdeejay s2
i have only 6% battery drop over 9 hours of standby, all data transfers closed and gsm only, not 3g
all things i tested works flawless
i think you missed the most important thing...
--> hard format your SD card before trying
Camillo
Format or not the SD makes non differences, I have huge battery drain in every situation.
I've had several issues running mdeejay builds, so I prefer FroyoStone 3.2 by Darkstone. I've never tried Chucky ROMs before, so I'd like to flash the brand new one
@camillo
no i didn't forget format card. i just don't do that, formatted first time and never again since then
@vysus
do whatever you want. i just suggested a combo that works very well for me

Unfortunately, NRG ROMs and PPP builds are not suitables for italian providers: using the first ones I had battery drain, trying the seconds I have had continuos data drops, missed calls & SMS, HUGE and nearly incredible battery drain.
I still would like to know which version of Chucky fits better with android, it's the last chance, after that I prefer to let go...
i think an correctly configured setcpu is the most important fact for battery life.
my combo:
winmob:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=793814
radio: 2.12.50
Droid: hyperdroid 1.7 (nexusHD2 since yesterday cuz of new harastin kernel)
sdcard: transcent class6 sdhc
battery drain without setcpu (overnight, 8h): 40%
with : 3%
TBH I have found no difference between a fully featured winmo rom (laurentius V4 or Energy nov 8th) versus Ozdroid which was stripped down.
I have found that of course the kernel makes the most difference - currently on S2 and it seems rather peachy.
As for battery drain I have found that it is fine even without setcpu on this kernel - however - once in a while, especially at the end of the day, the battery drains super fast - I believe there is an errant process or data transfer that messes it up (perhaps whatsapp?).
I stillhowever have PPP disconnects regardless.
I haven't had one since I disabled the stock widget though.
i only have ppp disconnects if i kill all my tasks. if not, it works fine
I start off my android adventure few weeks back and now I found my treasure and have stop searching.
Here is my combination,
WM ROM: vbn clarity
Android rom: mdj froyo revolution 1.5
Kernel: mdj s2
I have tried some other build and the battery life can only last me half a day but with this combination after more than 12 hours of usage, I still have 40%. (Usage: check email every 30 mins, check xda app every 30mins, moderate web surfing, a few calls)
So for those still struggling to find the combination, you might want to try my combination. Enjoy

A different spin on Android Issues
I too was having issues with SOD, random freezing/rebooting, robot voice etc and basically gave up on having a usable version of Android working on my device.
But then I had a slight lapse in judgement and came up with another hair-brained idea... I decided to attempt to get T-Mobile to let me just switch to a different phone like the Galaxy S / G2 / or MyTouch 4G.
So I task 29'ed the phone, flashed back to the OEM rom, then removed HSPL while not at work... Over the next 2 hours I began to notice that I was having issues even on the default OEM rom.
I got curious, removed the SD card, re-installed HSPL, re-downloaded the T-Mobile Official Rom from their website, and task 29'ed the phone again, reinstalled the OEM rom, and removed HSPL again just to make sure that I hadn't just got a corrupt download or something.
Within 20 mins of loading the T-Mobile rom back on the phone, my phone randomly rebooted itself. Later while I was in the middle of a phone call the phone just made a weird buzzing sound and froze. The buzzing sound would not go away until I removed the battery and restarted. I was also having many of the issues I was seeing in all of the Android builds that I had tried like the screen taking forever to come back on after being locked, the screen being non-responsive etc...
I had attributed all of these problems to the Android roms I was using and Android not being 100% and stil too buggy for the HD2 when it actually was a problem with the device itself.
I went to T-Mobile last night and they are sending me a new phone (probably a refurb) by the beginning of next week. I'm hoping that the new device will clear up all of the issues.
Just thought I would share my experiences, maybe some of you that are having issues with the Android builds could actually just have a bad device like I did...

After installing Chuckydroid, I also flashed Radio 2.15 just to have the latest radio. I've heard people talk against it, but again - I'm working 100%, so I'm happy.

Followed your suggest, flashed latest Chucky GTX, did anything else, switched to Android, unplugghed my phone at 2.30 PM, some calls and SMS, few calls received, battery is 42%, over 10% per hour that turns to 12 and over using the device, now I'm hopeless

Uhhh... what? It depends on what you have running I guess. Mine seems to be running fine. Off the charger for about 3 hours and only down to 90%.
Since I've just had my HD2's screen replaced, I'm still on the stock ROM from when I got the phone back from HTC. I just popped my SD card back in and off I went. The stock ROM works perfectly with Android for me. The radio is the one they installed (see sig).
I'm not sure that WM ROM has that much effect tbh. With the ppp wrapper patched and running the S2 kernal from MDJ, I managed a 320 mile trip with Google Navigate running the entire time. I never had a single data drop or problem with the phone. I was connected to my car stereo via bluetooth too.

How well does your HD2 run?

Well, I got my HD2 to run Android okay, I guess. It does run better then the Vibrant. . .
But, my battery life sucks and I have no file transfer while running Android due the damn OS being on the SD card.
The WMO has all kinds off little glitches. . . . The battery life is half decent. But, there are no apps and it feels like Windows.
Anyone out there with a HD2 running at 100%? And if there is, it is hard to believe.
Uh...yeah? Mine runs pretty damn great with a custom WinMo ROM applied(Energy)...haven't soft reset in weeks. And there are applications for Windows...you just have to think outside the market
Well, the Wmo runs way smoother over time. . .
I am also running a Energy ROM. . . It's still has some glitchiness to it though.

Mine runs awesome on the stock 3.14 ROM. It also runs awesome with a stripped 3.14 ROM and the Bluetopia 1.0.4 Android Build. I am getting about 12 hours of heavy use and more than a day if I turn off my data when I'm not using it. These phones are what you make them. You just have to try a lot of things out.
Out of the box with the stock rom they weren't awesome. Touch response was great, but it froze a lot. Then they updated the rom and it had ****ty touch response but didn't freeze. So people cooked ROMs with 2.10 touch drivers. Then they came out with 3.14 and everything worked.
On top of this, there are a ton of stable Winmo cooked ROMS to choose from.
And as of recent, there are flawless Android builds out there that run perfect with 3.14 stock ROM and lot of cooked ROM's as well. I prefer a stripped down 3.14 ROM for Android only use.
If Tmobile ever comes out with an Android native phone that is as nice as my HD2, I'll pick it up. Mostly because I know that WinMO 6.5 is dying and because the Android market is WAY bigger with better programs and utilities. I would end up keeping my HD2 and running WinMO only on it. I would also continue to play with it. I love to get my nerd on and the HD2 is the perfect phone for tinkering. But, I don't know when that will be. Not losing my screen size or the build quality/hardware awesomeness and I haven't seen anything comparable yet.
I don't mind rebooting into Windows to transfer to my SD card, but I'm also fine with shutting it down and pulling the card out and using an adapter. I guess it would be easier if you could just do it through Android but this isn't an Android native phone and it seems acceptable to me.
In the beginning my leo was a worthless pos, somehow over time it has begun to operate much smoother. A few downloads from this and a few other sites have straightened out some flaws
Be careful posting "issues" with your leo, you'll find that some loose cannon members on forums become extremely unstable and will begin kung fu flaming you until you never want to see another smartphone ever again.
then tear into your mom.
kick your dog/cat
etc.
Lol. . . . Flaming I can take. . .
Well, a few ROM's later I seem to have my HD2 running even better.
The file transfer is weak but like stated above, it is what it is.
A stripped down ROM really seems to best way to go for running Android.
I was also having major battery issues and today I finally found out why. I was using HandCent SMS. What it did was, it would wake up the phone and stay stuck at a 60 mA draw.
Removed the app and installed GO SMS, which has less then 1/3rd of the features of HandCent, but it does not hang up my phone.
So, it is getting better with time.
As far as hardware the HD2 is only second to the HD7(which just looks amazing).
But, the software is what makes the HD7 a 4.3" display having paperweight.
What are you guys talking about ? You can transfer files while booted in Android even if it is in the SD card.. Pull out your SD card while Android is on and it will still work.. I can transfer files fine.. Just change the mode from charge to disk mode..

I feel like a dumb ass. I didn't even notice the disk drive option. Thanks.
Is it safe to do since everything is installed on the card to copy to it while the OS is running? I assumed it didn't work and would not be a good idea. I didn't try to transfer anything, but it does work. I guess since the OS is actually running off the internal memory after you run Haret that it's cool. I just never really thought that much about it.

My HD2 runs great. I use Core Cell Evo v4.1 on the WinMo side and use Darkstone Froyo Sense v3.2 on the Android side...works great for me.
I transfer files quite a lot and no problems.
If you eject your sd card it will continue to work but, when you install sd card again most things won't work and, then will lock up (I tried that and I have to pull battery, then reboot).
I did notice if you leave it hooked to your PC (disk drive) and don't use the default ringtones, they will default to them in Disk Drive mode.
My HD2 runs so well using BlueTopia that it has replaced my G2 as my primary.device I carry two phones, 1 for work and 1 for personal use.
