New member but I did do my homeworks, no worries, and Im here to learn not for the quick fast and easy answer, programmers unite!!
Got my hands on the X1 3 weeks ago in Singapore. 2 Things mainly pisses me off:
1-Even tho its fully unlocked ( using my Canada Rogers SIM and configured everything so DATA plans work, thanks XDA ), I got this ****ty O2_UK rom on my phone ... Customization V.. O2_UK in the Customer Info. tab in settings. I will most probably put on the SE_UK rom as soon as I get back home from my biz trip, and then fool around with custom cooked roms
2-Since its a O2 stupid image and they are sponsored by Yahoo ( at least thats the explanation I found) they removed the google panel and google map application from their rom. And there is no other application to double check if the GPS is actually there and working, at least I cant find any.
So im heading back to Singapore for a day and want to make sure my x1 is fully operational before heading back home in canada, is there any way to check for the GPS device in the phone in any settings or without having to download google map or other map software? Any ways of checking this would be greatly apreciated

you need to go out from your house or building. then turn on GPS.

you looking for software for navigation? i am using tomtom, and it does not use internet as tomtom already contains the maps.
there are other softs that will give you cordinates of your location. dont remember names as i dont use them.

1. Use the forum-search, there are many threads here concerning nav-software, with or without internet connection.
2. Read the manual and help files of your X1
3. Use google with the keywords of your prefered nav-program you decided for after step 1. Most of the programs are not free, so there is not just a download-link to be given, you must pay for it. Surprised?

You could try one of these: TomTom, Sygic Drive, Sygic McGuidder, Mireo Ginius Drive, Destinator, Garmin.
You should probably check which program has the best maps for your region/country. To do so you must find a forum from your county for gps programs or ask people who use gps regularly such as taxi drivers.
Most companies offer trial versions of the programs so you can easily check them out. Remember that you might need skins for the programs if they are not displayed properly on your WVGA screen (I know for example that Destinator's previous version needed skin to work on Xperia and Touch HD).

. About Htc Gps, i went to a store and they say me that i have 2 options to navigate in gps:
1. Is pay the access to internet and download the maps.. which i don't know if they stay in the sdcard and then i can access them for free.
2. Pay a licence to google, which cost 60€...

I have played with that rom today very much. Its super fast and stable. No errors or anything. Only queston is why i cant put Dataconnection on? I got some other questons too and i hope i get answers.
1. I want to put the settings so that I can not go without wifi example was because I do not have a data package / contract so it costs a lot and I do not want to because I have wifi is almost always available when we need it
2. Where i can get Msn messenger for my P4350?
3. Where i can get some games for my P4350. I like to play with mobile phones and this have good buttons etc so i think there is games too.
4. Can i delete some useless programs like opera mini and google maps etc what i dont need.

2. There are a few different alternatives. Unfortunately, I don't really use my Wing/Herald anymore, so I don't remember.
3. Same as #2.
4. Unfortunately, you can't remove programs that are cooked into the ROM without cooking a new ROM.
okey. So if somebody knows answers to 2 and 3 say it I mean the using msn etc is very expencive for me bicouse i dont have data contract so i just want to be sure this will now use gprs etc bicouse i can use wlan and its cheap.

I'm expecting my new galaxy s phone which i got as an upgrade from vodafone uk. I want to use a three sim card in it so:
1. Would it come sim-locked? if so, is it easy to unlock? if so, where's the best place to buy unlocking codes or even better free unlock it?
2. If i want to use Skype on three (to make free calls) through the iSkoot app. Where can I get a working version of this? What settings do i need to play with? and do you think it will work? Heard that it might still use the included minutes. I want it to be totally free as i will use it extensively.
3. What's the latest best rom to install? Bear in a mind that i'm totally new to Android (Been a windows mobile person for so long) so might need some beginner's guide

Q1: I have seen an unlock app ... would need to try find where, might have been on the marketplace ... you may need to enable root access first though.
Q2: Can't help if you specifically want iskoot ... but there is a Galaxy S Skype available from 3 themselves as they do the handset on contract.
Q3: No idea . Kinda new here too having just moved from WinMo about 1.5 weeks ago!
