Trying to watch Skymobile on T-mob (or not...) - Touch HD General

Hi there,
I'm hoping someone could advise me on this. I'm trying to set up Sky mobile on my touch HD but when I try to select I'm a T mobile user on their Sky's page I get a message saying my phone isn't compatible. I'm pretty sure it's T mob's page being crap and not picking up what I have (I've had streaming work fine on my phone already).
Does anyone have any ideas on a way round this?
Many thanks in advance

T-Mobile UK block RTSP streams, even on the Web'n'Walk Plus service (don't know about Web'n'Walk Max). So maybe Sky are using that Protocol to stream their content. This is the reason why I can't get iPlayer or Orb to work over HSPDA/3G either.
I'm guessing the problem is with T-Mobile in general, rather than any specific phone.
edit: yep, it's rtsp ( rtsp://149.254.192.123/premium/sky/101074.sdp/Sky_Sports_1 )

Remove the proxy in your internet settings as that was stopping me from accessing my emails, etc.

Cingular Video on TyTn

Anybody get Cingular video working on the TyTn? I can get to the CV website but it won't play the videos. I loaded RealPlayer but it says that the files are unplayable. Any help is appreciated.
Can you please post the URL that you are going to?
I never got it to work (I gave up).
I'm using:
http://cingularvideo.cingular.com/msdp/?now=1163106550899
When I try to launch a video, i get prompted to download a video.ram file, which I do. That opens RealPlayer (which i installed), but that comes up with an error "Clip is not playable"
After extensive talks with Tech support it seems that the tytn and the 8525 are not going to have the Cingular video capability.
I have a Tytn on Cingular and I get it to play Cingular Video just fine. I'm just using their medianet settings from the 8125 tech support page, and using RealPlayer 1.1 to play the streams, works like a charm.
I was in New York last week and I was told the the Cingular version of the Hermes does not even have the two camara function, I was shown a picture of it in store and the video cam on the front is not there.
That is the reason wht this is not included in the rom.
He also gave me this link on a review, which also has a picture.

Did you ever encounter the problem where you download the video.ram and get a message the clip is unplayable?
I had version 2.0 and was getting the same error. I have just re-installed and now i'm getting an error in RealOne Player "Failed to connect to server"
When i try to open it again, i get "incorrect or malformed protocol"
I wonder where we can find v. 1.1? The site says it's version 1 but when it loads it's 2.0
I've never gotten the incorrect protocol error. I've only gotten the can't connect to server error when I'm in a low reception area. Even when I'm on the EDGE network, I can still watch Cingular Video, it automatically adjusts for the bandwidth. (though it looks pretty compressed) I didn't even know there was a version 2.0 of Realplayer, i could only find 1.0 and 1.1.
I'm certain it works though despite what Tech support has told you because i've been happily using it since I've gotten my Tytn. The realplayer I have doesn't stretch to full screen though, which really sucks.

You're right. I just checked and it does say version 2.0.028 or something similar to that.
Also, as slicric suggested, I have my preferences on RealOne set to wifi, although I'm connected through EDGE and 3g. RealOne didn't have any setting for 3g speeds, although whatever network i selected didn't affect Cingular VIdeo for me. I had it set to just GPRS and I could still watch Cingular Video files just fine.

That gets the file to play, but I have no video, just audio
UPDATE: Loaded the new version of RealPlayer (1.1 on the website) and Cingular Video now works perfect.
HELP!!!
hey guys ive been searching around for awhile about this topic and i came across this thread. you guys seem to know the most so i was wondering if anyone could lend a hand.....i have the cingular 8525 on cingular of course.....it does not come preloaded with cingular video....which i really want....i have real player 1.1 but when i access http://cingularvideo.cingular.com all it says is "cingular video is available only on supported 3g phones." my phone is 3g so how would i go about getting it on there?? would i have to conect via wi-fi to access that .ram download?? or is it possible one of you could post that program file here?? hopefully i can get it to work because i like this better than mobitv.

It is something that Cingular has built into their ROM. The Data guy for the Cingular North Florida Market has verified that it is not available yet on the 8525

Rogers mobiTv on my Cingular 8525

Hi everybody,
I have my Cingular 8525 unlocked that I m currently using with Rogers. It's all set with MMS, email, and internet
The Cingular 8525 comes also with mobiTv but if I click on the prog it proposes me the mobitv service from USA by default.
There is no way so far that I can change the url by default, the program is in the Rom of the device and the only way I guess, will be to touch the register key of my Cingular 8525 .
I know that my device is not officially supported by Rogers but i m sure that we can find the way to make it happen
If anyone have an idea, may be a app that i can download from Rogers , or to give me the right url for this service from my device, let me know
Thank you in advance for your help
Nobody ?
Well, I'm a bit puzzled. According to MobiTV site it is only available in the US.
"Cingular customers: if you prefer, you may purchase MobiTV directly from your MediaNet device menu by selecting Entertainment / More Sites / MobiTV.
Product Features
Channels you know from home like ABC News Now, CSPAN, and FOX Sports (click here for the full channel lineup)
High quality video
Graphical channel guide with programming information
Full screen viewing option
Touchscreen and 5-way navigation
Note: Service available in U.S. only. Data charges apply. We strongly recommend you have an unlimited data plan with your carrier before buying MobiTV.
As it costs $9.99 / month, I'm sure they give you a programme download which would replace the one you have IF it works elsewhere.

I believe Handango or another major PPC software vendor sold these, and billed you directly. This was before but you could try.

The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) -- our equivalent of the US FCC -- does not allow the re-transmission of broadcast material by unlicenced carriers, so no MobiTV in Canada until the rules are changed (which I am sure will happen at some point in the future -- Canada usually follows the US' lead).
John
Not quite true you lot
I'm running my Softbank with ATT_MobiTv and ATT_XMRadio rom. It's only a 3 day trial but I get all the US channels A-Ok. Just don't see a way to switch to other networks/countries.
Mobitv is also available on Rogers. Mobitv is the technology used by Rogers for the streaming video applications.
You don't have to believe me just check the MobiTv website.
http://www.mobitv.com/channels/channels.php
A number of providers and channel listings there.
Now back to the original problem of changing channel lineups. Is it prgram based or a setting? Only the ATT_mobitv cab seems tobe out in the wild.
Thanks to everyboddy for your answers
For some reason i didnt recieve any notice for your replies
It seems that some guys succed to make it work
Actually pretty much all the services that Roger offer now, vison
, xm radio, mobitv etc.. seems to work on the tytn I. i havnt tried yet and i m looking for the the cab files if available?
the tytn II should come pretty soon at Rogers and i wonder if the video call will be unable and the apps for the tv , xm radio etc...\
just got the tytn I from rogers and install wm6 on it , just need to find some one who would like to help me to try the video call.. if their is any seeting to change for that ?
i got the Internet , mms working perfectly
Something else i need?
However my internet home page by defaut is from htc website , do anyone know the on for rogers and how to set it up by defaut?
thank you again
Make it simple: try to find a ROGERS ROM version of your Hermes and reflash it!
tried for weeks no chance, just took the official rom from htc and find the cab on this forum from rogers..
i keep looking , but thanks

Tmobile TV

Has anyone got tmobile tv to work with either a MDA pro or any other variant with a tmobile sim in it.
I keep on getting an error message "streaming is not supported"
It works fine on the other halves Vario II
Anyone?
Any helpe to get this working will be greatly appreciated
I got it working as far as browsing the channels in IE, but on my MDA PRO when you click on a video feed to watch, it launches an app called "streaming video", which is some sort of modified windows media player. Anyway this app always crashes, I tried it on the new Youtube mobile site (m.youtube.com) too and the same result
What I need is a cab file for the latest version of this "streaming video" app, does anyone have this? I don't really want to install one of the newer AKU 3.x or WM6 ROM's as I'm fairly happy with what I have now, even though the T-Mobile ROM I'm using is the very first version that was released...
Also does anyone have a cab file of the latest camera app? The 4GB SD card bug is a bit annoying sometimes
Anyone any suggestions?

How do you configure Streaming Video? Basically how do you use it? I tried its settings, but there is not much to go from there.
Right now I am using Pocket Live TV, so far it is working great and happy with it. I just wish they had more channels here in the US, especially the latest Cartoon Network Channel, all I get from this channel is OLD re-runs of VERY OLD cartoons. It is great in watching MTV, NEWS, sports, and weather reports though.

What is this TMobile TV? I just switched to TMobile last week. Where can I find the download site? Maybe I can help you investigate. It sounds interesting.
if you go to http://10.111.189.31/servlet/download?page...lates/onNow.jsp and pick your channel to *ahem* start viewing
The link isn't working op IE or PIE. I'm interested too, but isn't it only a service in Germany?
Thanks for the response. I did find this article about You Tube by Menneisyys, it has instructions on how to use Streaming Video Application:

Change custom user-agent in opera:config to sgh-i900 & save. Exit Opera then go back to BBC iplayer & it should now work.
Actually found out HTC_Touch_HD_T8282 works better
TBOy, tried that but no luck. Do you have to clear out all the other gubbins in there first?
I changed HD2 to Hd and 8585 to 8282 but left the rest alone....
thanks
no clear EVERYTHING and put the above.
sorry to ask what is probably a very basic question but where is opera:config? I'm a bit new to all this so an idiots guide would be much appreciated
I second that, total noob to winmo, haven't a clue either how to do this
i think you type it into the adress bar, same with firefox core settings
The current Opera 9.7 version on the HD2 is not detected by the BBC iplayer website. Here is a modifcation to Opera preferences you can do to get it to work.
Launch Opera and type: opera:config in the url bar. No http:// prefix.
Find the User Prefs at the bottom of the list and then scroll down to Custom User-Agent.
Delete all text in the field and enter only HTC_Touch_HD_T8282 into the box and make sure you press Save (all the way down at the bottom of User Prefs).
Exit Opera and restart it.
Now go to http://bbc.co.uk/mobile/iplayer. Videos are opened in your Streaming App on your phone.
Many thanks, and cheers for being patient with the noobs.
+1 on the patience.
Incidentally, I found editing the line doesn't work; you have to do as stated ie delete ALL of it and then re-enter from scratch.
Thanks Again...
Hi Tboy, thank you for the reply- I think it's working, can't try yet as I don't have a wireless connection, which leads me to another issue...
The iPlayer claims that you can only stream over 3G on the Vodafone and 3 networks (UK), and that I should stream over wifi. I'm actually with Vodafone so does anyone know why I'm getting this message and can't stream over 3G? Is it anything to do with HSDPA being enabled?
Thanks in advance!
I was about to ask this exact same question. Got Iplayer to work great over wifi, so thanks again for the advice, but when trying over Vodafone 3g data connection it is saying I need to be on Vodafone 3G, kinda weird as I am. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as this would be a god send for long night shifts.

have you installed copilot central onto your PC ?
I'm on 3 UK and it works beautifully!
If you're having trouble with iPlayer you could try using the myplayer application. It works best with CorePlayer installed, but you can stream stuff using the Streaming Media Player and play iPlayer downloads using TCPMP.

BBC iplayer on t-mobile hd2

Hi
Anyone got this working? I did the registry tweak as per the tweaks thread and I no longer get the 'flash error' and it appears to recognise it is a mobile device, directs it to the mobile iplayer site but then I get an error saying the iplayer has technical issues and is not available.
Anyone using the t-mobile hd2 and have this problem??

Did you do the opera confug tweak in the thread above? Of not, what have you got in there by default?
Any help appreciated
I did the Opera Config tweak, but learned that you have to completely delete all the text then re-enter just the given text. If you delete some characters and alter the 8585 to 8282 it simply doesn't work.

I had exactly the same error message with my stock T-Mobile. Couldn't solve it. The workaround I came up with involves using MyPlayer and Coreplayer (search for the thread on here), and it works brilliantly - no issues with using T-Mobile data for downloading, streaming, watching live.

bringing up an old topic but if you're still having problems, when you did the registry change did you make sure you used capital letters for the whole thing apart from the word touch which should just have a capital T and the rest in lower case. I had the same issue as you on my o2 hd2 and after changing the word "TOUCH" to "Touch" it worked fine.
