Exchange email notification, or lack of. - Hero, G2 Touch General

Hi everyone, well as with most of us in this section of the forum, i have turned from windows mobile to android. All in all it seems ok, the only thing which is starting to wind me up, is that i cannot seem to work out how to turn on the notification for exchange email messages coming in. Even when my phone makes noises for calls and sms messages i get no sound and no vibration for exchange email.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers all.
Rob.

Try this if you havn't already.
Exchange Inbox
Menu
More
Settings
Notification Settings
Tick what is needed.
Does that help?

hurray, thanks Sku11y, that was exactly what i had been looking for. makes sence now. lol
Cheers
Rob.

No Vibrate on incoming text messages

I was screwing around in HKLM/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Inbox/Svc trying to delete my outlook account, and when i deleted the folder i noticed that my phone stopped vibrating when i received text messages or emails.
I have since updated the ROM from the HTC website and the outlook account has come back, but i'm still not getting any vibration on messages.
Does anyone know how i can get it to vibrate again?
And i'm still looking for a way to remove the outlook safely - any ideas?
thanks
i know this is simple but is worth a shot if you havent already;
check sounds and notifications (in settings)
check in the notifications tab using drop down menu
Yeah - i have vibrate checked there. it totally sucks because i have to keep looking at my phone to tell if i have a new message
Try installing third party apps like phone alarm and use their profile settings to set vibrate - see if that works.

Different custom notification tones for each thing?

Okay I have searched and found some good info on getting custom tones for notifications and such. However I would like to know if theres a way to have my email notification tone seperate from all the rest of the notifications. I know using ringo pro I can have my text msg notification tone seperate. But I do not like it when I hook my phone to my computer it gives me the same tone as my email one. I currently have it set to the "you've got mail" and its annoying to hear it with updates, hooking to computer, and such. If this has already been answered please supply me with a link and I apologize for not looking harder.
Open your gmail app. Press menu and select settings. Should be in there. Same with txt messages
Wow do I feel like a moron. I even knew that option was there too. Just completely overlooked it for no reason at all. Well thanks for pointing out stupidity at its best. Seriously though thanks ubernicholi
no problem, i didnt know that was there for a while either
Hey thanks for something so simple, I didn't even know that haha

Email notification and sound

Hi Guys,
for some reason when i receive email to my phone it doesnt seem to vibrate or ring. It pops up on the email tab to say its been received but theres no kind of indication. Its sort of like its on silent. Ive checked all my sound settings and notifications, events e.t.c are on but still no joy.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Turning off email notification?

Just picked up the G2 yesterday and I love it for the most part. Hoping some of you can help me on one thing.
I generally keep my phone on vibrate mode and want notifications for text messages, calendar reminders, etc... but not when I receive a new email. I've checked my Gmail settings, and vibration is turned off there. However, my phone still vibrates for every email.
I've gone through every general setting I can, but I can't seem to figure out how to turn this off. Anyone have an answer?
it's not under the general settings, its under the account settings.

Gmail account settings? If so i already have those settings set correctly. If not which settings are you referring to?
Anybody else? I'd really like to solve this issue.

I went to accounts under settings and removed my gmail from the Email accounts. There is no reason to have gmail there when you can just use the gmail app... kinda annoying. Then you can just have gmail give you notifications when you get a gmail.. like it should be?
I know this thread is a bit old, but I still can't figure out how to stop Gmail from vibrating every time I get an email. Has anyone figured this quirk out?

If you are using the Gmail App then go to the gmail app settings > click your email> then "Inbox sound & vibrate" > uncheck vibrate
That's just it though, it still vibrates even when vibrate is not checked.
Sent from my LG-D801 using xda app-developers app
Anyone figure this out? I keep my phone on vibrate also and gmail vibrates every time even though it's unchecked.
Did you ever figure this out? I am also being affected by this problem.
Hi guys, yes I managed to make the incredible annoying vibrating to stop each time I get a new e-mail or message (sms).
Go to the Message-app - in the right corner (on the phone) press Menue - Settings - Turn off "Vibrate".
Now you should get no vibrations at all when receiving sms/mms or email (I have a Sony Xperia P).
this worked for me

Open gmail icon then in menu mode, look for settings under label settings. Not sure why it's there but it is. Open label settings and choose the device notifications
Sound, and under sound choices choose Silent. It's at the top of my lg choices. I can't think why they combined text and email. Who in their right mind want a d
ing every time an email comes in!??

Help, not getting text messages notifications

I don't know why but for some reason I don't get notified when I receive a text messages and no sound either, I can only see my messages when I check the messages icon any solutions? All other apps such as whatsapp and facebook seem to be ok. Notifications are set to be on, I attached a photo
Settings > Notifications > Advanced
Scroll down to messages and click it, press allow notifications, etc
I had this problem for a while and finally figured it out yesterday after I sat down and realized how much it really bugged me. Haha
oops. i see.
Thanks it worked! It's confusing because on the app settings the notification is on but I didn't realize there was another notification settings on the phones itself.. thanks! :good:
Old thread, I know, but can I just express my thanks for this. Oh my god, it was driving me nuts trying to figure out why my phone, all of a sudden, stopped giving me audible text notifications. Got me in deep trouble with The Mrs. because I missed some of hers. Arrgh! I changed nothing, did nothing. Checked to make sure it was enabled in Sounds, and in the Messaging app itself. So, thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
