I was screwing around in HKLM/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Inbox/Svc trying to delete my outlook account, and when i deleted the folder i noticed that my phone stopped vibrating when i received text messages or emails.
I have since updated the ROM from the HTC website and the outlook account has come back, but i'm still not getting any vibration on messages.
Does anyone know how i can get it to vibrate again?
And i'm still looking for a way to remove the outlook safely - any ideas?
thanks
i know this is simple but is worth a shot if you havent already;
check sounds and notifications (in settings)
check in the notifications tab using drop down menu
Yeah - i have vibrate checked there. it totally sucks because i have to keep looking at my phone to tell if i have a new message
Try installing third party apps like phone alarm and use their profile settings to set vibrate - see if that works.

I have a brand new Cingular 8125. I have it checking for email updates from 4 different (POP) accounts every 15 minutes. ROM Version 2.25.11.1 WWE (default). I have every possible Notification in 'Sounds and Notifications' to beep, ring, flash and vibrate when new emails, sms and mms come in. Text messages make a sound and vibrate. I can't for the life of me get the emails to notify me when they come in. I've tried Inbox open, Inbox Minimized and Inbox Closed.
Does anyone have any idea on this? I've searched this forum for a good answer to this question but I haven't been able to find what I'm looking for unfortunately.
Thanks!
On My Wizard if I go to Settings > Sounds and Notifications>Notifications I only get the option to add sounds to "Messaging: new email message" I don't get any other options for emails (Many more for other events). I'm not sure where you are seeing the options to add sounds for "Inbox open, Inbox Minimized and Inbox Closed."
I apologize for not really being that clear. What I meant was that I tested whether it would vibrate with the Inbox open on the screen, with the Inbox minimized and with the Inbox completely closed. What appears to have happened is, after setting those parameters in the Sounds and Notifications settings, the Wizard wouldn't start vibrating for emails until I Soft Reset it. Once I soft reset it later that afternoon, it appears to have worked fine.
Thanks!
First of all I am rooted -=- already everything works fine for me only one thing I am having issues,, I installed Handcent…and made it my default TEXTING app
But I still get notifications from the messaging app that came pre installed
..
I did go to settings>I unchecked Auto retrieve and Notifications on the pre installed so
I won’t get it notification from the preinstalled app
It was doing good before the ROOT
But now I get both apps notifying me?
Can anyone give some advice?
To resolve this issue
yeah just go to the settings of the default txting app and turn off notifications there.
I did still get both notifications

1. The auto retrieve is for multimedia messages - if you leave it unchecked it will send you a message asking if you want to download it, then it will come to your phone (So, i'd probably re-enable that)
2. I doubt this will make a difference, so you can try to skip over the 3 if you want, but, you can try re-enabling the notifications, selecting the "silent" ringtone, and then disable the notifications again (just in case there was a bug about the notification box)
3. This is what most likely is the problem and I'm at work so I don't have time to test out all the combinations, but do you have another app that controls sounds (ringo, sms alert, etc.) that could be sounding an alert as well? Test out changing different alerts and txting yourself (either from your phone or set up a google voice account and send them quicker) and see what alert is really is that's notifying you besides handcent.
good luck, I'll check back after work!

thanks let me try a few combinations
What you have to do is first reset defaults for text messages under Samsungs text app. Now go to handcent and turn off notifications. Now next time you get text click the one notification you got. It should ask you what app you want to use to open it. Default it to handcent. You now only have one notification. It's a crappy workaround but its the only thing that works. You can try to uninstall twizmms but usually that causes more problems then it solves
If my ways don't work i'd say try psychoace's idea...it sounds like it'll work.
And I guess if ur like acjones you might want the auto retrieve off (maybe high schooler with lady friends...?) But for those of us without an issue its just an extra step, and has nothing to do with the notification tones

I am running the Dell stock 1.6 software.
1.Is there a way to set different sound options for different notifications. Example, I would prefer to only get an audible notification for SMS messages but none for emails. I don't see that option. If there is not, is there a program that will do this?
2. As part of this issue, I now get little beeps or bells going off and by looking at the notifications can not determine what caused the sound. I don't even see any changes in emails or my Facebook widget. Maybe tweets?
3. My notifications are suddenly screwed up. It keeps telling me I have x number of emails to read. I click on it, read them or even "mark folder as read" and then it still tells me I have the same number of emails to read. this didn't used to happen. It started recently.
Thanks

1. You can configure the notification in each app. Start gmail and go to settings etc....
2. It may be sd card notifications which you can turn off in the main settings app.
3 try forcing a sync.
4. Upgrade to 2.1 or froyo. ;-)

Is this a known bug on HD2 roms or am I doing someting dumb. Whenever I get an email, it arrives, but there's no sound, no vibrate and no email count on the start screen. I have checked under settings and an alert is assigned to new email so shouldnt i be getting something (I do get a sound for calendar reminders).
Thanks.
