Camera app - Touch CDMA General

We need someone to build a new camera app. I've managed to keep it going in cupcake based builds as long as I can but with the new donut stuff it's alot of work on each build to get it running.
We have some really talented dev's here so hopefully someone can come up with something.
In the meantime Please post camera apps that you have tried on the market that worked for you, something that can be used on the rogers and hero based builds.

Snaptell in the market uses the camera and works on hero. It's not quite a camera app but it proves that the camera can work in hero and most likely rogers builds.

ok fxcamera is the app to use it's in the market. it works on hero. i uploaded it to the vogue-hero site for easy access.

well it looks real good. If someone wants to try and let us and them know it might be a good alternative.

Tested camera zoom. It works with hero.

Camera Timer

Does anybody know of a simple camera timer that I can install on my Xda2? I've searched around but not really come up with anything...
Thanks in advance
Here is one.
Unzip the attached file and copy cameratimer.exe to \Windows\Start Menu\Programs on your XDAII.
Cheers
Jamie
Just wanted to check now some people have downloaded it, is it working ok?
I have hard coded the camera app to \Windows\Camera.exe but wasn't sure if the windows directory has a different name in other countries.
Cheers
Jamie
Works nicely for me. T-Mobile ROM 1.60. Also works for video if you have the camera set to that mode. Cool.
Thanks, a neat little utility.
Excellent! Works like a charm, many thanks!
i actually posted this topic a while back; asking if there was indeed a camera timer app. nice to see that there IS one! cheers
compatibility
does this work with other pocket pcs that can take photos?
I doubt it will work on non Himalaya based devices. Unless they use the same IA camera app and it must be located in \Windows\Camera.exe
Jamie
excellent little utility Thanks
now all we need is a custom-built tripod...
Jamie,
Thanks a lot for the nifty little application. If you have sometime on your hands can you consider adding a commandline parameter option? I would love to be able to call your application with a call like
CameraTimer /t5 /Quiet
and get it to do its magic quietly. The /Quiet parameter would mean it would exit the Camera application after taking the picture. Can this be done?
Thanks in advance. Best Regards
Ok, a new version. This one will run as the old one or you can put a number on the command line which will cause it to run in "Quiet" mode.
eg "Camera.exe 10"
Jamie
Sorry didn't read that last post properly.
You can now add a "q" to make it exit the camera app after taking a picture eg:-
"CameraTimer.exe" will run with UI
"CameraTimer.exe 10" will run without UI
"CameraTimer.exe 10 q" will run without UI and exit the camera app after it's done.
Jamie
Simple is great! Thanx!
Jamie,
This is amazing!!! Thanks for responding so fast! Most appreciated.
Best Regards
Thanks... and more!
Hello and thanks for this great little program!
Since you've been very responsive to previous suggestions and you may still have all the development environment configured for this little tool, I thought I would try to request new features too! Here are my ideas:
- Display a static text field in the program dialog box that shows your name, the program version and a summary of the command line options. This should bring you the fame you deserve for writing this tool... and also help people to remember how to use the "unattended" mode!
- add an option (both GUI and command line) to loop <X> number of times (or maybe until closed?) sleeping for the <delay> seconds and taking a new picture. This would make the program great for a sort of continuous picture log, where it could be used to take shots every <delay> seconds for the whole day. I could also be useful if you are alone and trying to take your own picture: set the device to repeatedly take one shot a second, start this and just calmly walk over, try different poses, lure unsuspecting strangers into the frame, whatever... You can later simply keep only the good shots.
Just some ideas, I hope you won't mind people being so demanding!
;-)
The time delay and extended photo shoot option is certainly a good idea but then I guess you will need to take the cradle with you to support the unit while it takes the shots.
I've now added the loop option and fixed a couple of bugs.
You can download the latest version at http://www.coderz.co.uk/cameratimer.html
@lostgweilo, sorry only the UI version supports looping

Android-style Cards (Like on the Palm Pre)

I know everyone doesn't like to copy other operating system with their neat features such as the iphone multi-touch and the icon docks and stuff.
But, i really feel that android can become more successful in multi-tasking but adding what the Palm Pre has which are cards, which are separate windows that encase a certain application, in which you can swipe between each card to run that app, since Android does allow background running apps this can help android users to be more efficient in their multi-tasking and everything else.
Wonder if theres a way android devs can develop code for this to be impliment or does this have to come from the andriod development core to write the files and kernel for this?
any feedback / comments on this is welcome
It would probably be in a form of an application (such as ahome, dxtop, etc), because doing that kind of work to the kernal would be more tedious lol.
P.S. the lakers game made me cry. lol

lets hope devs can start working on this i would pay money for this app!!
and omg i know :/ failed.
but i like i told everyone else its all about money so they just wanted to extend this series more blah.
If anything, Sweeterhome should be able to implement this.. although i don't think it would run as smooth..

Holding the home button just displays the last used apps, regardless of whether or not they are running/open.
anyone else on this?
Of course I'm with you. I think that with Android 2.0 supporting OpenGL ES 2.0, we can see full use of Tegra's 3D UI with its 3D windows showing running applications. Holding down the Home button would take you to this view...

Android 2.2 Wish list

With android 2.2 around the corner, what additional features do people want in the new OS. My obvious concern is that with the iPhone 4G around the corner our community really need to pull out the stops...
I recently blogged about it ( http://www.adriancantrill.me/blog/2010/05/android-2-2-wish-list-making-the-platform-competitive/ ) but i'd appreciate peoples thoughts on what SHOULD be in 2.2 and what NEEDS to be in 2.2
Seems there will be a kindle app soon enough - thats one step towards more mainstream support.

Video
I want HD video out capabilities.
720p video recording? With the added horsepower and 5mp camera technically covering all the pixels for it (maybe even up to 1080p), I can't see why not.
Native file browser and ability to save email attachments to sd card. Why didn't android 1.0 have such basic functionality?
All of The Above!
A MULTI-TOUCH KEYBOARD THAT WORKS WELL!!!!!!!!!
Google has failed to come close to the iPhone keyboard in terms of usability other than speech to text
a google "mikandi" app
jk
Backend: Open GL enhancements so more 3D games, and JIT for faster execution.
Frontend: Better search in marketplace and a more consistent UI with some sort of spam control on market
It makes me wonder if they will tackle the fragmentation of the market as has been suggested and pop a few of the key apps and features outside the OS....
I just want way louder ringtones!
And proper sound recording with video camera
Improvements/fixes.
Proper audio EQ
Divx/Xvid or at least give devs full needed access to implement these features.
HD video recording. ((full frame speed too not HD 8 fps or slowed down version like current cam))
C/Paste in Gmail.
Ability to send as different user within Gmail.
Edit quoted text Gmail.
Allow further attachment handling in Gmail both send and rcv.
Fix FB integration with name priorities.
MUCH larger HQ caller ID pictures.
An "exclude from Gallery/Music" option to directories that doesnt just .hide but actually skips over for those apps but allows other apps to continue using those media files.
Folders in App drawer.
Custom icons for folders on home screens.
Better search in market
multi-select in app updater.
Long press to start copy paste function in browser.
New Stuff
All the features Wysie adds to his contacts.
PictureMail in GoogleVoice ((even if its web launched))
Basically every damn customizable feature of Handcent in default SMS.
Re-Name and re do GTalk into Android Messenger to compete with BBM.
A social networking widget ala sense UI/Blur/New MS phones.
Thats all that comes to mind.
Can we have it now? Lol are we there yet?

i want my yogurt lol froyo time
SO we know anyone whos attending need some info!

[APP] ★ SC2 Stats ★ Starcraft 2 Profile viewer [v0.0.9 alpha]

What is it?
This is an android app to view your Starcraft 2 Battle.Net player profile and ladder information. The differentiating features compared to existing apps will be a cleaner interface, faster loading times (all data is prepared externally before downloading), more player details and better organization of information.
How to help test
If you're a SC2 player, then you can try loading up your player profile and see how it works. If not, you can press Menu -> Debug Players on the Favorite Players screen to load up a selection of players automatically. Report bugs in this thread with a detailed description of what you were doing and what went wrong. Also feel free to suggest additional features.
** DOWNLOAD **
SC2 Stats on the Android Market
Currently the project should be considered to be in an alpha state-- so expect limited features and bugs.
Current features
Add players via battle.net ID + player name (from web URL) in all Regions
View the top ladder/league/rank for each team size (1v1, 2v2, 3v3, 4v4)
Display ladder standings (all ranks) for a specific division
Future features (sorted roughly by highest priority first)
Display all of a players ladders/leagues (not just top per category)
Display other misc stats from player profile
Display match history
Skin UI with sexy SC2 blueness instead of boring flat gray/black
Display masters league (when it becomes visible)
Externalize strings for localizing (translating)
Allow for auto-update of player stats in background
Customizable notifications (matches, rank change, league change, etc)
Homescreen widget to display rank
Display achievements
Known Issues
Can only select first listed player when clicking a team in the ladder view
Currently cannot add players in the China region
Sorta crappy handling of bad input when adding a player
Changelog
v0.0.9 alpha
-Initial XDA release

Oh! Nice to know!
Hope to testing soon
Do play SC2, looks like a cool app. I guess match history and pro-game updates (GSL scores etc.) would be additions i'd be interested in.
Sounds awesome, I cant want to try it out. The ability for alerts seem like something that should also be in the pro version. What kind of price are you think about?

Match history would be an eventually feature, and pro-game updates is a really good idea. I'd just have to find a good SC2 esport site with a decent/parseable news feed.

Yah alerts was another features I was thinking about keeping for pro for sure, and for price, something minimal like $.99 or $1.50 USD
Still hoping to get an early alpha release out to you guys really soon
After letting this project collect dust for a few months, I decided to get back on it.
The OP now contains a direct-download link for an alpha APK.. so if you like SC2 or just want to help me test things out, give the OP a read and post any suggestions/bugs/etc here.
Now available on the Android Market for alpha testing.

Turn Old Android Phone Into A Free Security Camera

Turn Your Old Android Phone Into A Free Security Camera
Something strange is going on in my house. Every night when I go to sleep, someone or something is breaking into my house and CRUSHING ALL OF MY CHIPS! I can never eat any salsa because my chips are always just crumbs. What I have to end up doing is mixing the salsa with the chips like it's cereal and eating it with a spoon! It's just not the same. Today I have decided enough is enough. I must catch this person that is crushing my chips and robbing me of my happiness.
I need to setup a security camera but I'm not too excited about coughing up $100 for a decent one. But what is a security camera anyways, other than a camera with network connectivity? My old Android phone has all those features and more. It's got a motion sensor, WiFi, HD camera, and storage for backing up footage. So let's put that old phone to good use by setting it up as a security camera. I'll show you how!
Mounting The Phone
You're going to want to find a way to mount your camera in a place where it can capture the desired area. You'll need it to be plugged in at all times so keep this in mind when you're figuring out where to put it.
Applying A Fisheye Lens
Now usually security cameras have a wide angle lens so that they can capture the entire room in one shot. I highly recommend getting a lens kit that you can use for your android. Here is a great kit on Amazon for only $10.95.
Besties 3in1 Universal 180° Fisheye Lens

Installing A Security Camera App
There are several apps to choose from that will turn your phone into a fully functional security camera system. Here is a list of some of the best ones available.
Home Security IP Cam: Alfred
Security Camera Alarm System
AtHome Camera - Home Security
WardenCam Home Security IP-Cam
And that's all you need! Using this method I was able to catch the person that was smashing my chips. Turns out it was me and I sleepwalk. Oops!
this one is going to be quite useful for me!
I use IP Webcam for motion detection and streaming.
Just a thought, but it the main restriction of getting an IP Camera is the price, why not sell the old cell phone for a few dollars (depending on the age, you can prolly get $100 for it) and then you have a proper setup.
Not saying this is a bad idea at all. I have done this in a pinch when maintenance crews are coming to my apartment and I cant be home.
I've been looking at TinyCam Pro since I already have a couple foscams, and it seems to integrate all those along with old android devices while taking care of hw decoding and motion detection archive. Anyone used any of these for a reasonable amount of time?
Quite good idia need to try
Sent from my GT-I9300 using XDA-Developers mobile app
Big savings on this one I guess
that is a good advice, I used to use ip webcam, but it went be down
