No sound on ipaq 910c - Sable

Hi,
I put newest montecristo coocked rom into my ipaq and there is no sound on it, after restoring my settings with spb backup. I think that there is registry issue and now I want to change registry to enable sound but I don't know what I have to do.
Everything is fine with sound, but after restore with spb backup there is no sound.
Can somebody help me, and save my time, cause I dont want to install tones of progys one more time....
Help appreciated...

Problem solved. I put new montecristo 2.1 ROM, made registry backup, restored SPB restore file. There were no sound. But after registry restore I was surprised with sounds, and problem was solved....

Restoring old backup after a rom upgrade isn't very smart...

It wasnt upgrade. It was the same version of ROM, but I screw with registry modification and then after I stood with no sound, I need to flash it again.
But actually now is problem solved, after 2 hours trying and reinstalling some titanium plug ins etc...
I made new SPB backup for any case....
Problem can be solved with flashing new ROM, backup registry from new ROM, restoring old SPB file, restoring registry from brand new flashed ROM and a lot work with reinstalling and modifying settings etc...
But you can save time, cause most programs dont need to be installed again. Only titanium launcher with skins need new settings and re installation.

Upgrading to 1.35 - backup and restore?

I've installed a ton of stuff in my 1.18 version phone. I just got some BT 620 stereo bluetooth headsets and the music only plays for a few seconds. I want to try the 1.35 ROM's. Can I successfully backup my entire Hermes, do the upgrade, and then restore?
If so, what backup software should I use? SPB Backup says "use at your own risk" for ROM upgrades and Sprite Backup outlines a method.
I definitely understand that if you backup registry stuff, and the underlying settings in the ROM cause the registry settings to change, you are just asking for trouble. Kind of like taking a bunch of windows 95 registry settings and jamming into Vista.
TIA

You can if you revert back to the original ROM Version, you already answered the ? about the registry and I can tell you already some has changed from 1.18 to 1.35 I just did this upgrade this week.
Just to be clear, I am understanding from what you said that there were registry changes from 1.18 to 1.35 and so don't do a backup/upgrade to 1.35/restore.
Thanks! I guess I'll plan on a day of re-installing everything.

That is correct sorry I was not clear.
It seems Sprite Backup can do the job. There is an unique feature from Sprite Backup called the Upgrade Mode Restore which supports to restore a backup file made before ROM upgrade or changing to a new device.
For more information you may need to visit their FAQ at

Yes but it is still not a sure thing. You may incur additional lockups and freezes. It is much better to re-install your apps manually.

If you read the FAQ first and do it all correctly it will work. Most ppl go ahead and upgrade their ROM then they find they get problems simply restoring the backup image. You have to run the upgrade util on the old, hard reset ROM to get the correct .sbu file, this is the most common mistake ppl make, I have restored after ROM upgrade many times and not had any issues, you just need to do it correctly...step by step I suggest read the FAQ first, it is less time consuming than reinstalling all your apps and reconfiguring your device The only thing you cannot restore are POP accounts, they have to be deleted before the initial backup, then recreated, on the new ROM

This topic is a perennial. There are many definite opinions on the wisdom of doing this, with some people absolutely sure that it simply won't work ...
BUT
1) make sure you have HardSPL installed 1st, before any cooked ROM upgrade
2) backup your Registry with a Registry program (eg PHM Registry). This is purely a last line of defence if you have to revert to the original ROM
3) backup to your micro-SDHC card with either Spb Backup 2.0.1 or Sprite 6.2.2. I use both for "belt and braces" security
4) flash cooked ROM of choice
5) use backup from 3) to restore over ROM upgrade. Mostly I have found the Sprite restore with Merge Level 1 + database restore to work OK, but the Spb restore with Overwrite files unchecked will probably work just as well
If in the end, none work properly, then just revert to your original ROM and use 3) backups for a full restore ... no harm done !!
I have done this many times on both a Polaris and an X500. Sometimes it doesn't work (eg. the earlier swtos and pdaviet Polaris ROM's) but I eventually found ROM upgrades for both devices that did work. Occasionally for the Polaris I found some Registry entries repeated - eg. \HKLM\Control Panel\MyCtrl - but these are easily deleted.
Be adventurous - you can easily revert if it stuffs up.

Rom Backup

I've flashed my polaris.
I've installed my softwares and done my configs.
It's a beautiful setup now. (1)
I will change settings and try softwares, demos, tricks etc.
Something will go wrong and I'll want to go back to the beautiful setup.
Is there any way to freeze the (1) status?
A Rom backup or something like that?
yes, please use SPB beckup or other software
mmhhh!?!

Do you mean spb backup can store softwares other than settings?
I'd like to have a "Rom" to flash but not to cook that, simply config my polaris installing and setting up and then have a Rom Image to flash over further changes.
Well my dear friend - GOOD LUCK!
I have been myself looking for ages for what you need, and NADA.
The only thing I have found was SPB's clone, but it is too expensive.
Hope that you will find your answer, I wish I had something like that, so that I will able to test ROMs but come back to an all installed ROM which was working perfect.
The solution is only ONE !!
backup ..
Make a ROM Flash ..
Install all your software and configure PDA ..
make a full backup (use a software like SPB ..)
Restore..
Make a Hard Reset
Restore your Backup ..

[Question] How to backup complete ROM FROM HD2?

Hello,
I'm sorry if I shouldn't post this here, but I think this is the right place.
Please, is there any solution how to make complete ROM image from my tweaked HD2? I've installed official ROM (1.48), changed some registry settings, installed some programs and now I want to put this tweaked ROM to another HD2 mobile.
Thank you very much!
yes, use spb backup, it makes a full backup, custom backup or scheduled backup of anything. I am using it and its verry good at what it does.
Thanks.
SPB backup can backup the full ROM and anything else (all programs, registry tweaks, localization) and recovery that to another phone, totally from scratch?: )
yes SPB backup can backup the full ROM and anything else (all programs, registry tweaks, localization) and restore that, but if that other phone is a different brand i dont know how the backup will solve compatibility issues regarding registry or 3rd party settings.
I don't think so
My (official) ROM had 180MB, then I installed some programs and SPBBackup has now only 80MB. So I think SPBBackup doesn't backup all the windows files.
I need a tool, which can create image (LEOIMG.nbh) for use with CustomRUU.exe on another HTC HD2.
i guess i misunderstood your point, in this case you'll have to use some cooking rom utilities, see Rom thread for this. sorry.
Anyway, thank you.
I take it that you want to clone the device?! As long as you are using two identical devices (i.e. two HTC HD2's) SpriteClone could be your answer. Try here: http://www.spritesoftware.com/products/sprite-clone
Hope this helps.

[Help] Rom 1.66 and sms :(

I, i already searched a lot for my problem, and I do not know where exactly post my problem, so I'll post it here in hope for a litle help
Here it goes: I have update my wwe Leo to 1.66 rom a few days ago, and because I have tons of paches installed that I downloaded here ( by the way, thanks alot for your explendid work ) , I used SPB Backup to restore all the stuff.
When I finished to flash the phone, everything was fine, but after re-load the backup, the sms list has become a mess. When I open the sms list, the characters are HUGE, and I can't even read the text. I have put the character size to the minimum, and it does almost anything.... :'(
Is there a problem with the backup, or should I hard-reset the phone and install all the programs manually?
Thanks...

Yes, that´s the way.
What I would do is to hard reset your phone then restore th SPB Backup file as follows:
- Go to Customized Restore and click on it
- Then select PIM, Emails and My Documents
- DO NOT tick the System Data option
Restore as normal, soft reset you phone and see. Any problems, come back.
WB
Thanks a lot, I'll do it like that
It will be a mess to re-install all the programs, but it will be worth
