Stupid google mobile formatting - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Themes and Apps

I never had this on my xperia but when I search google and load a page it gets this ridiculous google formatting that completelymesses it up.
I have to scroll down the page and select view page directly located at the bottom. Some pages can be very long.
How do I turn this Sh%t off.

Make sure you use www.google.com not google.com/mobile, as the mobile version will do it automatically.
And, actually, the Xperia will do this to, both my Xperia and TP2 do it.

This seems to be a general problem, Google seem to be blaming opera, on the opera forums, it seems to be the networks, hopefully someone will sort it soon. Other browsers also seem to be having problems.

www.google.co.uk/mobile is to do with the locally installed Google Search Windows Mobile app.
The website you want to point to is www.google.co.uk/pda.
When on this page, click on 'Settings' and turn off 'Format web pages for your phone'.
I had the same problem but it's fine now.

My biggest annoyance with Android's web browser

Android comes with a seriously awesome web browser. It can easily browse regular desktop versions of web pages even over EDGE with no major problems. I'm so glad to leave crippled mobile versions of web pages behind me forever.
EXCEPT
Google, of all places, seems to have some kind of lock preventing the Android browser from gaining access to the desktop versions of their websites. They come up with the mobile versions by default, and even if you click the button to switch it to the desktop version, it doesn't. It takes you to yet another mobile version that is just styled a little closer to the desktop version, but it's by no means identical.
Google built this browser, they know that it can handle desktop webpages, why won't they let us do that with their own sites? I find it really annoying to deal with crippled versions of Google's web pages. In Gmail I can't edit my contacts, in YouTube... I don't know what the hell's going on... all I see is large ugly text, in Google Search I don't have the convenient switch to image search while viewing web results. It's FRUSTRATING.

I really dont know why your browser does that, but I have access to the regular google.com classic view page. I can pic between web, images, local, news.. etc.. I can also log to igoogle.com
I can aswell
Most mobile sites have a link to view the regular site. Google has this.
go to www.google.com then you see on the bottom Mobile is default choice, click on CLASSIC to view the regular website version
Anyone else having an issue with the browser where after a while it no longer renders the pages?
It shows the progress bar filling up and done, but just a blank page.

Yes I've had that problem as well as not being able to get into market have no clue why. Frustrating!!!
I keep having this problem too. The only thing that seems to solve the problem is a restart. I dont know if it has anything to do with me clearing the cache but it IS verry annoying.
Yeah, even killing the browser process doesn't do it either.

thats network issues with thew the 3g when i disable 3g it worked but sometimes it wont
i think it has to do with your cache i wish they come out with a new firmware that lets you save programs to sdcard or cache to sd card
I'm having the same issues. It was working when I first got the phone, but now it only gives me the option for mobile view.
I found a solution to the most annoying, biggest mistake from Google. For those who loved iGoogle and cant find it, here it is:
www.google.com/ig/i?source=mofe
And here is an alternate BETA site from Yahoo as backup:

TRYING to access youtube.com FULL site on a Vodafone X1

I go to youtube.com but it redirects to 'http://m.youtube.com/?client=mv-vf-uk'. When I click on 'View desktop version' it justs redirects me to that same site.
When I copy the link location of the 'View desktop version' link it is actually 'http://www.youtube.com/?nomobile=1&client=mv-vf-uk&gl=GB&hl=en-GB'
I have tried 'http://www.youtube.com/?nomobile=GB&hl=en-GB' and 'http://www.youtube.com/?nomobile' but they still redirect me to to 'http://m.youtube.com/?client=mv-vf-uk'
Does anyone have a solution to my problem?
Do a search on the forum to change your "user agent".
Currently websites are detecting that you are on a mobile device and re-directs you to a mobile version of the site if available.
Changing your user agent will full the website into thinking your another device instead.
youtube
I can get the full youtube site on my xperia, but it won't play any of the videos when i select them. Any ideas to what i could do?
Thanks

search a few pages back for desktop youtube / flash on the xperia.
i can goto youtube.com - pick any video and it plays straight in the page in opera, works a treat.
Incidentally, when youtube detects your on a mobile, there is a "View desktop version" url at the bottom of the page - same with most sites.

you wouldnt happen to have the link would you? when i search for user agent it comes up with too many results to sort thru
Did a quick search on google and i changed the value of HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\5.0\User Agent\Platform to Windows NT 5.0 and then Windows NT 5.1 but neither of them worked. I performed a soft reset after each registy change.
I have also gone into about:config on Opera and channged the 'User Agent' feild to 3 to spoof sites into thinking that its IE6 but it still doesnt work'.I also performed a soft reset after this.
Any ideas on this one? There must be other people out there with Vodafone X1s who are having/solved this problem
My Vodafone X1 with a Vodafone SIM reaches normal YouTube just fine. Think I just clicked on the link at the bottom of the mobile version.
Saying that, I can't actually watch the video, just get a grey screen and after a while some RGB bars.
Really? That sucks ass, mine just keeps going to the mobile version with the webpage http://m.youtube.com/?client=mv-vf-uk... very annoying.
Try installing http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=127398&d=1225817419
Sthoeft said all he did was install that and he coud view the videos on the full youtube site
Solution:
- Clear cache and cookies in opera
- close Opera
- Retry, but click on "Show Desktop version" at the youtube landing page.
Worked for me.
Are you sure you don't have "mobile view" ticked in settings?
Find show desktop version and install myflash on your device, then youtube works on your pc.
Has anyone with a Voda UK device managed to get this working? I'm still constantly getting redirected to m.youtube.com, etc.

Changed that settings and removed the custom user agent string under "user prefs" and now not getting redirected!
Cheers!
a couple of comments;
1. My X1i can access desktop version of Youtube w/o modifying any registry setting. Yes, first time when you access it'll bring you to the mobile version instead (m.youtube.com), but there should be a link (very small print though, you need to scan through to pick it up) in the mobile page that will enables you to jump to the desktop version. You shouldn't be required to modify your X1i in order for that to happen.
2. Even if you can go to the desktop version, you won't be able to play the video if you do not have Flashlite 3.1 installed. Do a google, once you install, you will be able to play the youtube video like you would on your PC/desktop.
3. A more efficient way to access *ALL* the youtube videos will be using an application specifically designed to access Youtube. Do a google in this forum, there's a tried and tested Youtube application that works on X1i.
4. LAstly, if you really need to find the setting to inform the site that your device is not X1i, User String may not necessary be the only value that the web site would look. See this link http://www.ppcsg.com/index.php?showtopic=103290&pid=766907&st=0&#entry766907
I think what people fail to mention is that the full Youtube website works over wi-fi just fine.. though when connected through hsdpa/gprs (via vodafone live) we automatically get redirected to the mobile version of the website, no matter what.
This is also why the "youtubeplay" app cannot access the cookie for FLV playback.
Has anyone found a way around this problem?
On your phone go to live.vodafone.com, then go to Info -> My Phone Bill. In there you will find "Web Preferences". Change the display option to "Do not adapt any sites".
Hope this helps.

can explain more about the problem?
I dont' have any problem using the youtube app to access all the youtube videos.
The Voda X1 are set to use the Wap APN instead of the Internet one, which makes some third party apps which connect to the internet not work correctly. Try changing Settings -> Connections -> Connections -> Advance -> Select Networks to WEB

Opera Startup Question

I've searched but I didn't come up with an answer...
Is it possible to have Opera return to the last viewed page when it's opened? Mine defaults to my homepage but I want it to resume on the website I was last looking at.
Anyone have any ideas?
After starting Opera, look in History...you will find the pages you visited today, yesterday, earlier this week etc.
So the last page you visited should be there as well
I am pretty sure what he is after is what the Iphone does. Basically you can shut off Safari on the Iphone and then open it back up and it automatically comes up with the page you were last on at the exact same position you were at when you closed Safari. It is a great feature to have and loved this on my Iphone (2G). Unfortunetly I don't know if Opera can do that, have you had a browse through the Opera config page?

That's exactly what I'm looking for. I looked through the config page but didn't see anything. Anyone have any ideas??
If you configure task manager (the very top right of your home screen) to minimise apps on clicking x (rather than closing), that will keep Opera open in the background. You can still close apps by clkicking and holding on the x
Thus when you click on opera again, the last viewed page will be there.
hope this helps!

Why does Google on the sense tab work differently than on the Opera browser?

I don't know if anyone else has tried this, but the google box that you can bring up on the Sense tab (the one for internet) is different than the one when you open the Opera Browser that is right under the address bar. The difference between the two is the one on the Sense tab gives you the results of the search, but anytime you click on any of the links for your results its TEXT ONLY. The one on the Opera Browser has links that takes you to the site, but still lets it stay as a "desktop" looking site. Anyone know why it does that? Is it a glitch? Can it be fixed?
I agree. I would like to know as well.
In the tab: you can change it in registry to the following and it will do every google search in desktop version :
google.com/search?hl=en-US&output=html&q=%s
however, if you are in the browser already, and did a google search, it will come up in mobile search results.
How can we change the one in browser to desktop searchers?
Hmm never noticed this before, might be a good idea to
change it to give proper search results
The search bar that you refer to invokes Google's specilaized mobile view rendering service. Essentially what Google does is to take all the websites out there and convert them to a mobile friendly version before diplaying it on your screen.
That's why it is different from the Desktop View and even the Opera Mobile View because Google is dong the conversion, not the browser.
It's quite handy if you want quick access to text information.

custom user agent.
as you are now opera is telling google it is a mobile browser. spoof for example the FireFox desktop use agent and you will see desktop google.
as for the search tab, as mentioned above you can force the results and even use a different search engine if you like.

[Q] Just rooted, can't get "searchmarket" onto the Nook Glowtouch

I just rooted my Nook Glowtouch. It has the newer firmware, thought I don't have the version handy.
I'm following the instructions found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_r-_BxLKys
I'm at the part where he's talking about installing "searchmarket" but the Opera Classic browser is taking me to the google play web page instead of launching the Google Marketplace. The install from Appbrain is not working, I even tried installing appbrain but that didn't work as I expected it. For whatever reason, I'm getting full pages instead of mobile pages for these sites, so it's difficult to navigate and I'm not sure what to expect.
Is there a "searchmarket/apk" or equivalent available? I don't read Chinese, so I wasn't successful on the dev's site, though it seems more like a blog than a dev page.
Or is there another recommendation for doing this or a better searcher?

Have your Nook connected to a WiFi network with Internet access. Start a browser (on the Nook, or elsewhere), login to Google with the same Google account as you used to setup your Nook after you'd rooted it, go to http://play.google.com and search for searchmarket, click on Install, then select your Nook from the drop-down (mine appears simply as 'phone', alongside more descriptive names for my other Android devices registered with that account).

The problem with that idea is that I have 3 items called "phone" in the list. I can't find the android settings on the nook (I get taken to the nook settings), so I wasn't sure what it was supposed to show up as, or if there were a place I could change the name of it. Sounds like I won't be able to though.
I was finally able to get the app installed. I tried a Dolphin and Opera a few times. Eventually I was able to get the OS to send google play links to the native browser, which then shuffled me over to to the market app. Not sure if I could replicate though.
I was getting a bunch of certificate errors on the google play page during all of this, so I wonder if that's what was causing problems.
Solution? Time-zone!
For me the solution was to set your time zone accordingly -> because google probably checked "if your time certificates" are correct..
and also the problem could be :
"f you have any trouble getting it to install, go open the “NookColor Tools” app in the app drawer, un-check “Allow Non-Market Apps” then make sure to re-check the box again. You have to un-check it then re-check it the first time to get it to allow the installation of third party apps."
