Hi all
Just wondering if anyone knows of a program that makes an SMS read faster? I get plenty of sms' from work and basically just want to ignore them and make then read... but TF3D makes you stay on them for about 5sec before it changes it from unread to read... maybe a registry setting?
Thanks
oh ya I am having the same problem also. Any fix for this?
yeah, this was frustrating me today too, i could not figure out wich txt was the 1 bubble.
anyone? please
surely its just a registry setting...
tf3d read time-out.... or something...

Any1 got this yet. It winds me up
its a manila issue. i dontthink its in the registry.
if u use the WM sms app rather then the manila tab it goes to read as soon as you look at it. no 5 sec delay.
i've sent a PM to D-MAN, hopefully he can help
nothing yet.. dang
let hope for the best man... =)
hey all, still nothing on this, BUT i've posted a question for Swfit on his rom thread.. maybe something will come out of it
Still no fix for this yet? I woulda thought by now, we coulda found this issue/setting.
I would also really like to know being checking all registry values and i can find nothing. The 5 second is really irritating.
I have been looking on other forums and have got nothing.
I assumed that it would be an easy task but alas.
I need this app too
If you tap 'all messages' you go into your SMS inbox - from there it's really easy to just mark them all as read.
They also go from Un-read to Read straight away if you open from there ans swipe message to message...
I know it's not realy what you're asking for, but if you get so many messages, I would think it's the best way, as you can view 10 or so at once with a preview...
I am wondering if anyone can make (or has already made?) a program that can be programmed to send the same text, mulitple times, to the same number...
My reason behind wanting this is... A local radio station hasa competition going. Whoever texts "wii" to a number they set up the most, will win a wii. I have already been sending texts like "wii(157spaces)wii(157spaces)" like 8 texts at a time, but I lose out on a lot of valuable text time from when I go to bed at 10pm and when I wake up at 6am... also, when I am not near my phone, I lose out on valuable text time, as well.
Anyone have any suggestions? Comments? I would love to hear them. I have found this forum soo helpful, thus far!
JT
lol just buy one, beats wasting time on sending texts plus these things are usually always rigged so you probabaly wouldnt even win anyway and even when you do get one you would have lost alot of valuable wii playing time.
on the otherhand you could busk for the amount of time you would have spent texting and buy one that way?
hope this helps
Since I had five minutes, I whipped one up.
It needs .Net CF 2.0, and there's a one second wait between sending each message 'cause otherwise WM gets confused!
The first text box is the number, the numeric up/down is the number of messages to send, and the second text box is the body of the message.
Unzip, copy to your device, and run the exe.
Hope that works for you!
BTW, I can't be held responsible if this causes any damage whatsoever, and it may cost you money to send the texts, which I can't be blamed for.
I just have to say, thx for this program!!! I use it on an almost daily basis... When people annoy me with texts, I'll send them 50 texts at once back... And on my little sisters bday I sent her 90 txts saying happy bday and she thought it was hilarious. I am just curious if there is any way to make cut/copy/paste work on this? My only issue is trying to remember peoples phone numbers to paste them in the "to" box... Or is there any way to integrate that box into using the contacts??
Once again, thanks for this program!!! Super super awesome!!!
JT
oh... and is there any way to make it send more than 100 at a time?
(If you have any info on how to write/edit programs, then I'd love to learn so I dont have to ask and can do this myself. I'm not too tech-savvy, but I love to learn lol)

It should be possible, though that's something I've never done. I'll have a look at it, and see what I can do for you.

The 100 texts limit is really easy to change, though there is a limit of what an "int" value can contain. I suspect it's far larger than what you'll use!
It's written in C# .Net CF, and I can send you the source code with comments if you want,,,
Anyway, I'll have a look at a contact picker, and upload a new file tomorrow (probably).
Theres an SMS program named SMS Nuke (google it).
It allows you to send up to an infinite number of texts to the same number, and will continue to work even when the screens turned off. It may be better than the above mentioned apps but i dont know, not used those ones.

It's here. I hadn't noticed it before, looks good, and has an "Add Contact" button...
new program called SMS spam was released. been using today works beautifully and has an automatic contact lister, so you can just select the contact you wish to bombard with texts!

wow.. nice app but, think about losing your phone, someone finds it, and uses this program on it , this program could seriously screw up someonse life
ah well.. just don't lose your phone

Hello Folks,
It’s been around a month since I’ve joined xda-developers and I have had a chance to get some of the best stuff for my HTC Touch Diamond from here. I think it’s time for me to return the favor and give back something to the community.
SMS Counter
For some time now I have been searching for a *FREE* application that basically can tell me how many SMSes I’ve sent. Thus, if I have a free message sending limit in my plan, I can know if I’ve exceeded it or not. Unfortunately, I could not find any. The only good application that I know currently doing this is the 'Efficasoft smartphone sms counter'. (Though, If there is such application and if I’ve missed it, someone please bring it to my attention)
And thus, I thought of making one!
Possible Features
I spent some thinking about it and I figured that I can add a few more features to make this application a bit more, well, feature rich. The next post lists the features that I have currently is my mind. Based on your suggestions/feedback, I will change the list.
Development Platform
I will be making this application in .Net Compact Framework v3.5 / C#. Thus, people wishing to use this app will need the Compact Framework installed on their devices.
Devices
At the moment I’m planning to make this only for the HTC Touch Diamond. Once the app is a success and if it has a good demand, I can plan on porting it to other devices as well.
Pricing
If everything goes as planned and if this application sees the light of the day, it will be available for everyone to download for FREE, ALWAYS!
So my fellow community members, please think about this and give me your valuable feedback. I want to know your suggestions, your ideas. Do we really need this app in the first place? Is there something better already available? If we need it, how can we make it acceptable to a wider range of audience? Do we add more features or do we just put the most basic features? Lot of questions and your answers are welcome.
Thank you!
[CONCEPT] SMS Counter - Possible Features
Below are the possible features that I am currently thinking of implementing:
Determine number of sent and received messages.
Filter options: Within a date range, to/from specific person, etc.
Trends: Whom I’m messaging most and who is messaging me the most.
Cost calculation based on plan but to be override-able for any given month.
Suggestions welcome!
there is hs++ wich, among many others, have option of counting sent and recived mesages
but i like your idea
to list of features i`d suggest to add
autoresponse (to contacts from adress book when i cannot answer or read message or recive call)
setting message to send at precise time
PowerSMS is one such software. But it is not a freeware.
www.trinketsoftware.com
of course i know PowerSMS
it also has a lot more cool features
but, as you mentioned, it`s not freeware

And it has it's own limitations too. For e.g. I would prefer a graphical chart when I'm seeing statistics, this is something which I would like to incorporate in my own app.
Yet, it seems the response for this is pretty much zero and people are not very keen to have this application.
I like the Idea of the statistics (with chart! ) sounds funny to know who gets the most sms from me (and to see who don't linke me and never or seldom sends me sms back )
I think the features are okay for now keep it as simple as possible
is it going to work in the background ? i mean consume memory and cpu power all time.
i am looking for a call time and sms counter, something simple that i can reset every month (maybe even with an option to reset automatically at a given date each month).
it was built in with my sony erricson T650 and maybe any other phone. but nothing simple at the diamond (havnt seen any sms counter built in).

No, it's not going to work in the background, the user will have the option to manually update stats after he starts the program or they will be calculated automatically when the program starts; whichever the user prefers.
Yes, I can add the option of resetting the stats manually or on a date specified by user, nice suggestions ice2k2, thanks.

That sounds good, just calculate when the user is ready to use, not always in the background more free Ram on our Diamonds! The reset on a specified date is also a really nice idea, yes!
Whats about a "constant" statistic, that shows the statistic from begining, and we can seperate in to monthly? So we can see in wich month we texted the most? And we could use the overall stats to calculate an wich (week)day we send the most sms

You mean maitaining the statistics cumulatively? I don't see how that's possible with the 'reset' option. When a users resets the data, all previous stats are lost and that's its exact purpose. Though, feell free to correct me if i'm wrong and explain what you want in detail, possibly with an example. Thanks,

Like in the car. you have a constant counter of your km/miles, and a "small" one for the time you go to refuel.
so lets say, I want to know how many sms I send since I load my prepaid card (but also a constant statistic )
small counter/reset function = time since reload the prepaid-card / refuel the car
background (full)statistic = overalltime statistic with monts/(week)day stats / km/miles since you bought the car
hope thats make my sugesstion clear

Yes, this feature will be available, though I'll have to work out the exact mechanics of it. Thanks for the suggestion!

I think its simple, just use two counters: one is "resetable" the other is not.
i guess it means double the data and double the reading/writing cycles but im sure there is a way to optimise it with simple procedure.

Hi all,
I made a cab from the 2009-12-15 Leo SMS fix (http://www.htc.com/europe/SupportViewNews.aspx?dl_id=812&news_id=407), so this can be installed on other devices with Sense 2.5..
I'm on a sense 2.1 rom currently, so can't test it...So be careful, it might break ur SMS function, test with your own risk and always backup (I guess the new 2.02 package has the update already or even a better fix)..
happy new year!!
George
New SMS Fix Cab added (dated 2010-01-14):

wath exactly it fixes?

i'm not sure what it fixes... but it doesn't seem to fix the annoying slow messaging thingy... I was just coverting the .exe which can only be installed on HD2 to a cab that can be installed on every device..
I have heard that the htc messaging in the 2.02 pack is fast, anyone tried it?
what is your point in creating a thread with a cab entitled "sms fix" and you are
not sure what it does? shouldn't you have tested it first and shared to us what
exactly it can help?
no offense, but i agree with jigners... hopefully the OP has had time to test it by now!

Am I the only one in this thread that uses the actual HTC site? or do people just like to hijack threads and flame people who are doing what they can to help the community... As I remember no one else knew what the Leo Camera Fix did either, but it proved useful, at least for some.

Looks to me like HTC don't really say what the fix "fixes" but THANKS for creating the CAB, i'll have a look and see what it effects if anything. If it's worth it I'll cook it in for my next flash
Okay, have just installed the CAB.
So far no noticable difference when sending / recieving SMS.
I'm using my own custom ROM, using WinMo 6.5 28014, and most of the packages from Leo 1.48.
Thanks again for the CAB anyway.
Hi guys,
be easy, read the link:

MessagingService.dll
mms.dll
MsgSettingDll.dll
PushClient.exe
DlgHelper.exe

HtcMailAccount.dll
JSRHandler.dll
MessageStore.dll
@Jigners
When the fix first came out, I tried it but it won't install on hd. and now I learned how to create the cab, so I just made it. I need to have my phone switched on all day right now and I'm with a sense 2.1 ROM, so can't test it, but I thought someone with a lower leo build may want to try it...
yes, you are right..sorry for let you down.. I won't do it next time.
@Swarvey&PooPoo
Sorry for wasting your time... thanks for your kind words
also gonna give it a go
still on a energy rom of 23-09 whit m2.51919
will report back later
ps gonna restore over 800 messages to test it to the ultimate
well tested it and it works sort off
i can type directly but the message im replying to isnt shown

hi,
have you tried restoring tons of messages to see if the slowness has been somehow fixed ? Last time I've tried with 2.5 the phone almost got stuck (with about 600 messages)

I sort of think the 2 posts directly above your post answers that question don't they
thanks, I could read those, but I'd like a bit more of an explanation:
you installed the fix and restored tons of sms, what I'd like to know is this:
- adding a contact with a lot of sms history to favourites slows down the phone ?
- opening such contact slows down everything ?
- I understand there is no sms history shown in the manila contact at all ? actually that point isn't very clear to me. where is that the original message is not shown ?
what I'd like to know, if you have got time to explain it to me, is what actually the fix changes, and how fast it makes opening sms history on a contact.
One last minor point is that a big sms history had most sms cut to one or two lines.
Regards
Andy

no, the sms fix is only for Leo package lower than 1.49...and the weather fix is for any sense 2.5.. I think 2.1 manila does not need any fix, both sunny animation and sms are working ok in 2.1 manila
Ok, so my city recently passed a huge ban on cell phone use while driving. I know I can have my phone reac any new message to me wehn it is received and I currently have it set up to do so. However, I have heard of other phone coming with a speech to text feature. Is there a wway to get something like this on the TPS where I can speak the reply to a text and be able to send it that way?
I don't know of any specific apps that do this, but I'm sure they're out there considering Bling and Google Maps have this technology.
I dont recomend trying to text while driving & dont like applications where you use voice commands but you should try this one
Code:

(not free but you could try the tial) it lets you control your whole phone by voice and you could add custom commands but im not sure if you could set it up to reply to sms.

microsoft tell me
i had it on my phone ported from i think a samsung device.
it didnt fit too well with the screen resolution and whatnot, but it worked.
although it doesn't work if you have an accent or if you want to send messages to someone who has a rather unusual name
i went to a At&T store for help with something with a friend, he had and still has a verizon blackberry curve but anyways one of the associates there had a blackberry and showed him a whole buch of apps he got from a certian website (dont remember what it was) and one of them was a talk to text app and it work almost perfectly. ive been searcing for an app like that for windows mobile ever since then and that was almost 2 yrs ago!!!! i also just found out a few days ago from my girlfriend that theres a app like that for her iphone. i seriously dont know what microsoft is doin but they need to step their game up and to all the developers out there, you need to beat them to the punch!!!

I use TellMeText Version 1.1.0 on my Rhodium Touch Pro 2. It installs and works okay. If the installation crashes, the best thing is to redownload it until it works fine. Also try the app on different ROMS.
I have used it on ARK_N's ROMS as well as on Leo Cell ROMS.
Make sure (I think) you install BlondieSoft_MobileCertificates cab prior to the intallation of the TellMeText cab.
Hopefully this should help.
Why not sooner.
If someone can rip the install from the Samsung Intrepid I think we can get something going.
The only other option is Vlingo and it is buggy at best, you can search the forums and people have had spotty success with it.
This could be a real difference breaker at this point in time in the Mobile Phone wars, I don't know why someone hasn't jumped on it and capitalized, tons of apps already use voice recognition (bing, google) for driving directions, I don't know why in a world where people are dieing left and right from txting while driving someone hasn't jumped on this.

The tell me ap works for some and not for others.. I believe it has something to do with the carrier you are with. That said.. you guys are probably better of going over to the tell me thread and reading through that to figure out how to get it working on your phone. I personally gave up. It would install fine on multiple roms I was running and as soon as I would to go speak a text to it it would just hang then give me some error.
Regardless... no sense in having multiple threads about the same thing!
Do a search in the Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Themes and Apps forum and you'll find it.

TellMe does not work for AT&T customers on their network on anything but BlackBerry. I ran a packet trace and the packets leave the phone but there is NO response.
WiFi works fine but how often are you on WiFi on the go?
You need to install microsoft voice command FIRST then this. Just search, the cabs are posted.
