I can add events to 2 of my calendars. I can view at least 5 calendars.
Can you add events to more than 2 calendars?
Apart from the obvious permission settings within google calendar,
what governs what calendars you can add events to, or edit events?
Thanks
Mike

I can view and edit all my calendars in the Android Calendar. I can also view and edit another calendar which I shared with myself. It all works flawlessly for me on Cyanogen 3.9.7
same here...
I am able to view/edit all active calendars w/ the stock widget. I'm currently using about a dozen calendars shared across 4 accounts.

Hmm, that is a puzzle why I can only add/edit 2 calendars but I have permissions for 4.
I have a friend who has a new HTC Hero and he has very similar symptoms.

Hi all,
I've managed to get my Google Calendars syncing with my phone now both ways, so I can view 5 calendars on my phone. They sync 2 way and do it very well!
The only thing I'm wanting to do is when creating a new Calendar appointment in HTC Sense, it has default categories of "None", "Business", "Holiday", "Personal" and "Seasonal".
I need to be able to change these so I can put the actual Calendar name in and create new appointments on my phone that will Sync to google.
Anyone got any idea's how I can change these? Haven't been able to find anything so far
Try to use the outook mobile calendar ... There you can introduce new categories but they are not used by the HTC agenda. Maybe are read by Google Sync ?

Cheers for that. The Categories are in the Pocket Outlook Calendar and if I use those, it syncs correctly. The only problem is the HTC Calendar version, it has the default categories only.
Shame
I agree with you. I posted yesterday evening a question to HTC support to known if we can change the proposed categories into Sense because it's a Sense limitation (same problem with groups into the contacts).
I will keep you informed.
Hi. How did you manage to sync multiple calendars by categories with google cal?
Please explain.
Id love to know the same as jexxer as well. I have only managed to sync 1 google calendar at a time as well.

I use www.nuevasync.com Push email, syncs tasks with Toodledo as well as multiple Google calendars, not free though.

I'd like to see a workaround for this too, I use David Allen's GTD methodology and I'd like to change the default categories so that match the ones I use on my Outlook calendar. As it is the default categories sync OK with Outlook, but I don't understand why HTC hard-coded them so they can't be changed.
Otherwise the calendar app is pretty good. There aren't any really good, 3rd party, finger-friendly calendars available at the moment.

hi,
i just wanted do add a bday to one of my contacts and i couldnt on the phone only online in my google account... is there a way to add this in phonebook or not?
and does anyone know a widget that shows my next/future calender items and birthdays on homescreen and im able to set the weeks or days it shows in future?
There is an app called birthday or something like that. I use that since Google doesn't have an entry for birthdays. Only thing is that only syncs with your facebook contacts but I believe you then can edit anyone that isn't also so now it will have their birthday on to your G contact. It also has a reminder widget if you want it.
It's not perfect and the UI isn't the prettiest but it works.
There is a feature in Google Calendar where you can add your Gmail Contact birthdays. I then use Agenda Widget which shows everything on your calendar/s and it comes in different sizes.
You can always do it on your pc as well, via gmail, under contacts.

I do this too. It's a great solution
There is also an entry for this problem in the Android bug/feature request list:

I've just rooted my first phone (the Aria) and installed CM6.1 and am quite impressed. But I had a question to pose to you Aria/Android experts:
I used to use HTC sync to sync my Outlook's personal calendar and contacts, separate from work and Google data, and this kept me from having to store my "private" data in the cloud or on company servers. But HTC Sync is no longer a reliable option for this mod or the other popular ones.
I did find that CM offered a "Phone-only (unsynched)" address book whenever I created a new contact on the Aria. Then I was pleasantly surprised to find that I could use MyPhoneExplorer to populate that address book! Halfway there!
There's no unsynched calendar that I can find, though. Is it possible to define and maintain a calendar in this (or any other 2.2+) mod that is not synced with a cloud or Exchange? Ideally, I could then point MyPhoneExplorer at it, but I'd settle for any working calendar whose data never leaves my phone.
Thanks for any guidance anyone can offer.

What I did was to set up an exchange account to create the calendar, but then set the account to not sync. I too use MPE and copy my events to the local calendar.
Ted, thanks for your reply. That is indeed a creative approach.
I already have my Aria synching to my office Exchange calendar (for office appointments, naturally). How do I setup the second calendar? Will I have to define a second Exchange account? Or a separate calendar folder/sub-older or data file?
Maybe I can simulate this approach by defining the new calendar using another Google account? I'll give that a try.

You can always create a dummy account with hotmail and use the calendar associated with that account. Don't use exchange here, so I have no experience with setting up multiple accounts, but I'm sure it is fairly straight forward.

Work for a fortune 500 company that had very strict IT rules and you will know
Fyi, where I work, it is a terminatable offense to put company data on servers outside of the company firewall, including calendar data. So this is a very useful workaround for my situation. I was almost ready to revert back to Sense because it had the private calendar, but found this hack and was thrilled to toss out all remnants of Sense from my phone and computers - hated it that much.

I set up a "scratch" calendar in Google and saw it defined in my Aria, but when I use the stock Calendar settings there to mark it as unsynched, it also makes the calendar invisible.
Ted, if you don't mind my asking, are you on 2.2 and what calendar app are you using?

I'm running CM7 with the stock calendar app. I looked at several of the calendar apps out there, but none had the integration with the LPP calendar widget.
Don't believe that you can have a google calendar that is not synced. I turned the exchange sync off on the main sync settings page

I've got it working now!!
Forgive my "dense-ness." I haven't used Hotmail before and didn't know it offered Exchange functionality. I setup a new account at Live.com, synched it to my Aria, and then told the Aria to not sync its contacts and calendar there. Presto! Unsynched calendar (and contacts)! MyPhoneExplorer now has a private repository to work with.
Thanks a million to Ted for his directions!
Yesterday my gf said she wasn't getting all of her Google calendars synced on her phone. She has her gmail calendar and a couple from work that are shared. So I cleared the calendar memory, now none of the gmail calendars will sync, but the exchange calendars does. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
I've run into this problem as well. Here's what I've come up with:
First, have her log into her main Gmail account and go to the calendar. She'll have to select (on the left, you know like 'checking' them almost) whichever calendars she wants to sync with.
Once she does that, you'll need to clear out all settings on your phone. As in, wipe data from the calendars. Once that's done, go into the Calendar settings and re-sync. You'll then see the calendars re-appear when you choose which ones you want to show up on your phone's calendar.
Hope that made sense, this has worked for me.
You rock! Thanks my friend! Gave you a litle "Thank you".

No problem. I had literally just done that process no more than 20 minutes before you had posed that question. Glad it worked for ya.
I have no trouble getting it to sync with calendars I manually add in iCal format. The problem I have are the optional ones that Google provides. Specifically the NFL football schedule ones. My phone doesn't seem to want to pick that calendar up at all.
When they're listed on the main calendar page, are they colored like your accounts you can sync to?

Yep. I tried searching for the problem and apparently it has nothing to do with the phone in particular, but the format Google puts their sports calendars in. Lame move by Google. Also saw that an alternative option is to use Yahoo's sports team calendar. Just tried it out and works like a charm.
I have the same issue with all sports calendars...apparently its not just the epic or android..but a problem on the iphone too

PC Sync
I just flashed the Revolution HD 3.6.1 from 3.6.0 and now my stock calendar widget and calendar app only allow me to sync the "pc sync" calendar option. Neither of my Gmail calendars even show up in the list of calendars to display. I've done everything from clearing the data in the settings menu, I've checked my calendars online. Any idea what I can do to sync these?
Hi,
I'm new around here, so I'm sorry if this is in the wrong forum.
Can anyone tell me how I can get my contacts birthdays to appear on my phone calendar. In calendar settings I have the contacts birthdays option checked to display. When syncing my calendar with my google account, everything appears fine on my laptop when looking at Google calendar. I was temporary able to fix this issue by clearing my calendar and calendar storage data in my apps settings with the birthdays appearing on my calendar after I had done that. However, after adding a few more birthdays and trying the same method, not all the birthdays appear on my calendar that I have recently added. If I check on my laptop again they are all displayed there correctly.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Make sure both the "display" and "synch" settings for the birthday calendar are checked in the Calendar app's settings on your Nexus.

Thanks for your suggestion, they are both ticked in display and sync.
Do your contacts birthdays show in the calendar or have you not tried?

No I just have one account but I use a hotmail address for my Google account. If I add a birthday to my contact, it will show up on the online calendar fine but wont display on my phone calendar. The only other thing I can think of is if my simple calendar widget maybe interfering?
