Hi,
I have a strange problem... everytime I set the "location" in the time settings of my Blackstone to my home country/city (GMT +2), it automatically changes itself to "GMT Casaplanca" after few days...
I checked the regional settings (Settings>System>Regional Settings), but this seems irrelevant (it is set to English(Canada), which is neither my home country nor Casaplanca).
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Have you tried the following thread?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=544610
well, this thread focuses on a different problem (which is the fact that the time zones are incorrect for some cities). the time zones in my device are correct.but the city which I choose as my home city changes after few days

have you managed to solve the problem yet?
I had that problem when I had iGo installed and set to automatically sync with gps time &zone which was London.I just unchecked that and it's gone.So if you have iGo 8 check time&zone setting.

Hi all,
I have at last found a deception point with my blackstone
I have a problem with the timezone. I set it to (+1) Paris, Madrid. All is well, and my appointments after the 29th of March (summertime date) are OK.
If I reset my blackstone, or simply wait for the next day, then the time zone is back to (+1) Prague (first zone for +1 zone), and then all my appointments after the 29th of March are not correct (one hour before). I think that Prague does not include summmertime...
I have tried several tips (including trying to use "Other town" in alarm&Clock setting), but no result.
any idea ?
thanks in advance !

Are you sure that this is happening automatically? As far as I know it is iGo8 (R1), which is responsible for that, so just disable the automatic time zone correction in iGo8 (if it is the case for you).
Thanks for your answer.
well, it seems it is automatic, I have not used Igo8 for a long time :-(
The evening, I set (+1) Paris, and the next morning, (+1) Prague is back !
I have just disable Igo automatic zone correction in Igo, and it does not correct the problem : after a reset, Prague is back again :-((((
And Igo does not seem to stay on the timezone I have set : it returns on the first +1 timezone (Amsterdam).

If you are starting Igo, this is an issue with Igo - one of the versions changed the timezones even if you asked it not to. Update to the most recent version.
"Autocorrectie" & "Tijdzone automatisch inst." disabled.
After a restart of IGO the 'prague' settings are back.
Tought I have the latest version of Igo....
I have seen that this seems to take place in the registry :
The HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Time\TimeZoneInformation is resetted (almost all bytes to 0).
Even Prague is no more in this key (there is a difference in this key if you set Prague or if you reset the HD and Prague is set automatically).
very strange.....
Could be Activesync fudging around with the settings when you connect to the PC? I had this problem on my Elf for a while but for some reason it suddenly started working OK again.
timezone cannot be set correctly. solution?
Changing the timezone settings through the IGo GUI won't work, dunno why. But , fooling around some other forums, i found this other solution that seems to work, at least for me (igo 8.3.2.1).
You just have to add these following 3 lines to the "sys.txt" configuration file that is in the application directory under the programs folder on your device (es. /Program Files/iGO8/). Hope this works for you too.
------------------------------------ cut here-----------------
[timezone]
sync_os_timezone=0
reset_os_timezone=0

I do not use Igo, so this will not work for me.
I have same problem. I set GMT+2 Helsinki Riga and when I made softreset, there's GMT+2 Windhoek. Windhoek isn't first on list so no just exactly same problem, but it keeps changing whatever I do.
it seems that a hard reset has resolved the problem on my Touch HD.
I am going to re-install the softwares one by one and check each time, in case of...
Hi,
Seems to be fixed now.
I don't think it has anything to do with IGO.
Touch the clock -> settings screen opens.
Select/enable the 'visiting' mode/selection.
Set the proper GMT value within the visiting mode.
Close the 'settings' screen by selecting 'ok' in top right corner.
Touch the clock -> settings screen opens.
Select/enable the 'Home' mode/selection.
Set the proper GMT value within the visiting mode if needed.
Close the 'settings' screen by selecting 'ok' in top right corner.
That did the trick for me.
Still wondering if it's running on the visiting mode in the background, or what the heck caused this... but it's working oke now.
you're right, this procedure works for me... during some time...
The next day, the problem was there again...
No more problem since the hard reset.

I have exactly same problem what you have. No matter which rom i use, every time I got this same result that HD is swiching this time zone from GMT+2 Helsinki Riga to GMT+2 Windhoek.
Try disabling 'Automatic change time zone and clock' under 'Settings' 'Phone' to see if that works. Sometimes Networks give out incorrect timzone data and it corrupts the reg key.

Hi,
I have a similar problem, but this doesn't solve my problem.
The only difference is that I installed iGo on my SD card, and I don't have any iGo folder in Program files.
Same thing happens with GMT+8. I select Perth (GMT+8) then ActiveSync decides that it should be reset to the first timezone in the list (Beijing, HK).
I have disabled 'Automatically set Timezone' in the Phone settings and the Timezone is correct on the PC.
Something must have changed because it used to select GMT+8 Ulaanbaatar before (which is last in the GMT+8 list)
Hmmm I don't knoe how to explain that (lack of words)
Sometimes when I check the time clock shows me proper time. A while later it showes that is for example 3 hours later It looks like clock changes the time by itself and without any reason.
Any1 noticed something like that ? It;s really annoying
I had the same problem. I have dutch language selected, but it should be something like this:
In Settings -> Phone -> Timezones unselect 'Change timezone and clock automatically'. I synchronize the clock on my phone using activesync.
Changed.
I will observe and let You know Thx
have same problem here!!!
It started happening recently and I can't find why. I will try your solution now.
I woke up in the morningn. The clock was 9:00 am , I sent a sms to a contact (using normal application) and then when I return to TF3D the clock was showing 18:00 !!!!
The only modification I do recently was setting Activesync to not start automatically . Have you played with that setting too?
hy!
it's Igo chenges the clock i had a same problem disable clock changing in igo navigation software.

How can I disable this feature in the clock? The clock randomly goes to my location instead of to my added location. I disabled My location in the weather tab already, now I want to get rid of it in the clock also.
and I want it to disable :/

How have you disabled my location? In the weather tab , I don't see "My location" ?
Wouln't you just go to the settings tab, click location and disable the service, im new though so havent had much of a chance to play with it.
If you disable the location service in settings, the only thing that happens is that "my location" will not be updated anymore (nor in the weather tab nor in the clock). What I mean is the following:
1.Tapping on the clock shows My Location and other added cities
2. On the weather tab you also have My Location and your own added cities.
I know how to disable My Location on the weather tab, either through a reg modification or Dutty's cab. But I don't know how to do that with the clock (could not find a key for that). And that's bugging me because after each soft reset the weather location in the clock changes to "My Location" instead of my self-choosen city. And because I have disabled the location service and My Location in the weather tab, it will not be updated anymore (of course) and I have to manually switch back everytime to my city of preference.
Nobody has a clue how to do this?? It's really annoying to change manually to my preferred location after every soft reset

Sounds to me like that's your problem right there!
I've disabled it in my weather tab, so it's simply not there, but it's still in my list of clocks. However, I have a city that I added myself as the default clock location, and this is always the selected one when I reset the phone.
The default behaviour is not to reset it to the "my location" location, as yours does. So, removing "my location" is not what's needed. You need it to stop defaulting to it.

thanks for your answer, but how do I stop it to default to my location instead of my preferred, self added, city?
edit: I also have disabled my location in the weather tab.

Not quite, I also disabled My Location from Weather (using Dutty's), but after a reset the clock insists on going to My Location, instead of the chosen city.
That option is available in the settings menu, data settings and and time synchronization.

does it mean dat you then have to disable time sync?
disabled time sync in data settings but after a soft reset the clock still persits to choose my location instead of my chosen city. Any other solution?

Up up up !
After an hard reset last week I noticed this fu..ing bug and did the same : disabled my location in meteo tab, and now I'm still looking for an answer.
Sometimes you can spend hours and hours on the Net for some stupid bug, looking for a mystery registry key
Is this the solution ?

And I said to myself : it's quite late now but... this is it.
I finally found (I hope so) the solution, from Inks (thank you by the way) here :
HTC Blackstone: Touch HD > Touch HD General > How to remove My location in home tab (post 19)
It worked for me for the moment, but I didn't refresh meteo this evening as I'm abroad and not using 3G-GPRS when roaming. We'll see when I'll be back home with an active data connection... I hope it won't piss me again.
Hi,
maybe I am the only one - but I have a HUGE issue with which I never had to deal previously!
I am living on Bali/Indonesia = GMT +8.
Indonesia has 2 time Zones GMT +7 and +8
In prev version of Leo Roms (non-offocial ones like Dutty's) I could also set "My Location" and the responding time zone (= +8 for Bali).
Now I got the HD2..with "My Location" enabled it picks up weather for either "Kuta" or "Denpasar".
If it takes "Denpasar" all is fine as that obv is linked in the Manila Database to GMT +8..HOWEVER if "My Location" updates to "Kuta" Weather than the Clock jumps one hour back (as "Kuta" seems to be linked to GMT +7).
Totally frustrating....
Any idea what could be done?
I already set value "0" under /Time/for automatic updating....still....this bloody clock keeps flipping backward...
If I disable "My Location" in weather than I can select only "Kediri" - and that is linked as well to GMT +7 = all clocks are set wrong if I amend that manually to GMT +8....plus: under Clock Settings "My Location" is also still shown...grrrr
So...guess it would coming down to amending the Manila Database - but: how can that be done?
Any Input would be highly appreciated..as I never experienced such an issue with any Phone..weather WM or Apple or Symbian
I am in england and sometimes the 'my location' location for some reason thinks in in new dehli or a couple of other citys ive nevr heard of!
You could try tapping on the clock itself (world clock), adding the city manually, and then selecting it (radio button). Then it'll show that time instead of your "my location".

True, but after each soft reset it seems to go back to My Location.

You're not alone. I'm in the UK and my location correctly reports my position, but it thinks it's in GMT-5 Eastern US timezone. What's that all about?
Hello, anyone know why my Touch HD didnt automaticly change the clock this morning?? (forward 1 hour) thanks in advance
Paul.
Ok did all yours change automaticly???
Paul.

Didn't update on my Diamond2 with the latest HTC ROM with manila 2.5. Always has before so I guess it must be ROM dependant..
"Always has before " i must be doing someting wrong (settings wise)
Tanks for reply bro
Paul.
+1 hour
"Always has done before" means on my other WM devices...don't know about any settings..
Ohhhh! ok thanks
Paul
Flipping ekk! c'on someone must know!?? TBH im not really bothered but its just bugging me that this phone must be able to update summer time!......Or am i wrong?
Paul.
Stock ROM
I'm running stock ROM on my Orange Touch HD, and the clock advanced as it should. (I also have a cooked ROM on my Elf (Touch) and that advanced correctly too!)
Well GREAT! then can someone tell me how to do it then please!
Paul.
Automatic change time zone and clock
Have you enabled "Automatic change time zone and clock"?
You can find it in Settings ==> Personal ==> Phone ==> GSM/UMTS Services ==> Time Synchronistion (WM 6.1)
Had the same problem, but when I enabled it the clock changed to the right time...
Cheers for that, but i get to this point "Personal ==> Phone" and i cant find/do any changes as you say!
Paul.
I managed to get my phone set to summer time but my recurring appointments are still one hour later than they should be. Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks!
I just want to know why none of you lot cant give me a solution?????
Does the phone update auto, or not ???????? (stock rom)
paul.
Hi Paul. On my phone you go Settings ==> Personal ==> Phone ==> Time Zones and then tick the box that allows you to set it to adjust automatically. That worked for me but still did not solve my problems in my calendar. Aaarrrgh!
+1 hour...
I don't know if this sheds any light on it....
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/downloads/microsoft/daylight-savings-update.mspx
Somedaysctarch do you have a HTC TOUCH HD???
Because i cant see this option you mention...."Time Zones and then tick the box that allows you to set it to adjust automatically"
Paul.
Paul,
Yes I do have an HTC Touch HD. On my phone when I go Start ==> Settings ==>Phone I see a screen that has options for sounds at the top of the page. At the bottom are tabs for Phone, Services, Network, etc. If you press on the right hand arrow you will see a tab for Time Zones. If you click this you get a tick box to "Automatic change time zone and clock." If you tick this it should automatically shift to daylight savings time or the equivalent in your area. Hope this helps!
Thanks mate but thats not on mine????????????????
Ill try the other guys reply! cheers anyway.
paul.
Well Looby i installed that cab! thanks mate, thing is how can i "test it" or do i have to wait till the clocks go back??? becoming a mission this is hehe
Paul.
Install schap's Advanced Config, have a look at the settings at the bottom under the heading "Miscellaneous", there is an option there "Automatic daylight savings switch over", enable it and soft reset.
No idea how to test. I guess putting the clock to 28-Mar-2010 00:30 and seeing what happens...
