Blank screen of writing a new text message on 818pro

Blank screen of writing a new text message on 818pro.
Is there anyone can help? There will have no problem after hard reset, it seems one of the programs causes this problem. But does anyone know the reason? Is it memory insufficient?

when I press "New" button in order to write a new SMS (text message) of my 818pro. The content of the message is just a blank screen, I can do nothing with it except closing it. This also affects on MMS and Email.
Is there anything corrupted?

This reminds me of something yes. Could you please do these things and reply with answers to my questions ?
a) How much space do you have remaining on your device (how much free ram) ?
b) Go to Start -> Settings -> Installed Software or hows it called (the place where you see what software is installed) and tell me if the list is still there. Do you see your installed programms in the list or is it empty ?

c) Can you uninstall or install new software ? Please test with some small CAB file on your device.

is Arabizer installed on ur deivce?!when im using unofficial pdamobiz roms on my prophet,after installing arabizer,the new message window becomes exactly as u said!after disbaling the arabizer it worked again.i hope this helps.

c) yes, i can uninstall and install new software.
--> this problem exists right after I sync the data and then press soft reset button. Is this the point? because whenever I press reset button, the SMS I wrote disappear even my pda has been just done a hardreset.

I dun think "Arabizer" is installed. Is it a program? or something about "Arab"?
Anyway, I can't find it from "Remove program". Tks.

I hardreset my 818pro again, but never press the soft reset button, so far ---- OK!!! Why the reset button cause such problem on serveral version of ROM?
AKU2.3.1, AKU3.2, AKU3.3

Arabizer is a program which enables your device to show arabic fonts.when i install it on official roms,there is no problem but when i install it on pdamobiz roms then i have a blank new sms window.as i said,after disbaling the arabizer it works again.hope it helps.

There is no such program installed on my 818pro.
I am using AKU3.3 clean rom.

Probably a ROM issue then. If you recall my reply above with the few questions. I initially had in mind that you might run into the security stuff (certification messup) issue but this is not the case.

You have the answer right there. The registry is only written back periodically. After doing any changes you should not quickly follow up with a soft reset otherwise any new information will be lost. At the very least switch off and on again before doing a soft reset. This is not a ROM fault it is simply that writes to the registry are not carried out immediately.

Hello Mike,
Thanks alot for your explaination. The data cannot be written immediately, so that should not press soft reset button right after a SMS (text msg) is written. This question is answered well.
However. My main problem is why the SMS writing page became blank and never recover until a hardreset? I had this problem after sync PIM and then pressed soft reset button.

I have the same problem before...
At that time , I used AKU2.? (forget XD) and ce-star too!!!
After hard reset for about a week.....the problem will appear again= =
SO i always reset -> blank -> reset -> blank -> loop....
until I upgrade my 818pro to 2.3, ...
and I don't use ce-star again....since it always hang= =
firstly i use monster chinese...but i found that the font is very ugly.....
so at last , i don't use monster chinese anymore, I only copy mingliu font from my winXP, and edit the registry to let my 818pro can read chinese....
Also , I download the Chinese input method from monster website, but without using monster XDDD
I don't know it's the problem of AKU? or ce-star? or just i'm very lucky.......
I want to upgrade to AKU3.3 too!!! many people say that it's very fast when you compare 3.3 to 2.3.........i wanna try it~>< But now....I'm afraid the SMS blank problem will appear again= =XD

it's the problem of cestar, i used to have the same problem with cestar installed, after uninstall it the problem was gone

Urgent Problem, Blue Angel Freezes

I upgraded my Blueangel to windows mobile 6 a couple of days ago, yesterday i was reset it. when it powered on i have the windows mobile 6 screen and nothings happens thereafter, it is not connection to activesync and i m not able to ROM Upgrade.
Please help me ASAP

read the wiki carefully
try a hard reset after and do the no+yes+yes ritual in the hard reset.. it should worked...

baybe it is because third party software you installed, it happened to me with the touchflo which replaced the touch.dll with another one for another device, also with HTC Plus today plugin

I had it after installing VBAR... you have to reset it and press the record and camera button, then clear the registry HIVE and press the mail button... it will be hard resetted but in wm6 you don't lose any data, just some settings and cabs...

Yeah, I got this problem too a few days ago.. annoying...
When I tried to back up my data using Sunnysoft backup manager, BA had to restart, and then it stuck in the WM6 page... ended up clearing the whole thing again using the no yes yes option...BA was able to start up on safe mode though... weird
I only had this problem once though....
Hmmm, interesting few people have this problems with different circumstances, however leading to the same problem...
is it really WM6 issue or is it 3rd party apps issue?

it just happened to me as well.... i had an almost fresh install of WM2006 (just downgraded, merged Extrom and upgraded again).
I installed some few cabs and eventhough it worked fine for a day, it then started to freeze while booting again and again....
i never had the problem before merging the rom though...

it happened to me also, after doing a soft reset using pbar. it ends up in the green screen with the microsoft logo without going any further. i've tried several soft resets after but it always ends up in that mode.
had to perform a hard reset and install my favorite apps again.

well maybe there are some incompatiblityes with those programs you mentioned, i have not use them my BA has the default apps (the posted cabs) Sprite Backup 6, Htc Home 1.5, Adobe Flash Lite and i have no problems at all

in what order?
whats Sprite Backup?
and which one is the HTC Home 1.5? (i only see HTC Home6?!?)

Sprite backup is the best backup softweare IMO, yes all cabs (cabs and cabs2) Home6 is HTC Home 1.5

1) Helmi HomePlug_Comp.cab: found in Helmi_C's WM2006 archive FLASH.zip
2) Helmi_HtcHome6_WM5_comp_sdkcert.cab: found in Helmi_C's WM2006 archive AddOn.rar
3) HOME6: an archive with two folders (WM5 + WM6) and HTCHome.cab
are there any differences?
is one better than the others?

Use Home6 if you want to be able to modify the HTC Home tabs from 6 (default) to less than 6..... this is the only one working....
With Helmi_HTCHome6.. it also works, but cannot modify the tabs......
never tried the other one....

OK OK I had this problem and it solved it without losing data. First i tried to reset the device , like 30 times with no success. Even with a hard reset it didnt work. So you just Put ur device in the booloader mode and then soft reset it and voila. i dont know if it's really the correct solution but it worked for me for 3 times when i had that dumb WM6 screen. It's because of Battery status software ( 100% sure )

Can anyone tell us which third parties programs that cause the freezing or which are compatible whit WM6. To used or avoid them.

same problem here. I just installed the cabs from helmi (Thanks again!), the HTC Home (Helmi_HtcHome6_WM5_comp_sdkcert.cab), Acrobat reader and powerpoint (out of this cabs in the first message in the central BA6 Thread) and no additional software. I've re-installed it two times, but that doesn't help .
@ Xeon: Maybe a good work-around, I will give him a try,

OK im again facing the same problem it seems my solution didnt work. As far as it seems to, i had to soft/hard reset more than 20 times to solve it. i dont get it. when i reset it the problem is still bla bla bla.. but when u leave it stuck for 10 mins and then reset it , it will work. the point is that after all , u dont need to format/clear registry. All u need is to keep trying. WEIRD [email protected]#[email protected]$#$

I keep having the problem after installing a new cab with a soft reset. The only way to get out of the WM6 screen is to go into bootloader and a soft reset. Just like Xeon said. However, I don't think it is the battery issue because if I just do a normal soft reset, it starts up fine. The problem arrives only when a soft reset is required to finish an installation from cab.

How do you restore the shift to "factory settings"
Ive sold mine and would like to put it back to like when it was new.

This will restore snapvue to default (ie: hard reset wm6). If you want to restore Vista to default, reboot your shift and press Fn+F3 while booting.

Erasing everything ?
That really strange, when I do this (Fn+3 for F3), I have the red text asking if I really want to erase all but if hit 'y', nothing really happens and my Shift boots normally to my existing Vista !
Am I missing something ?

Finally I solved it.
Micron, you should find a guy with a shift with the same language than yours(if you want). Then read the pof's guide about how to backup/restore the recovery partition. Dump it and copy it to your device using the guide(backup or restore lasts 4 hours). I had to do twice but now I ve it working again..
I restored too the first 1MB(mbr + ...)

The recovery image has inside serial number from windows vista busines license, i think that it is a problem for someone that he want up here a image of its Shift.

Hi, I few times make liberate my shift, few times I make foul recovery both systems, last time i installed ShiftHardSPLFinal (it has 2 files - EnableRapi that for start under WM and ShiftHardSPLFinal - for Vista)
I installed first pack under WM and after that second one under Vista/
After The shift loose liberate, I tried clean storage and back up to factory configuration under WM, I did, but now I can make liberate again, I tried to do same under Vista - dos'nt help again.
Now Vista dos'nt see WM, but mobile network it work.
I need some person who can help me recovery all system and better if I can call with this shift.

Can you please tell me a safe and reliable way to restore my htc shift to its factory settings without trouble? Is it that simple by pressing fn+f3 and then answer no to the question or includes more than that?

Hard Reset

I made an upgrade to wm6.1 from wm2003 and always is gone right, installed manilla and other soft and all works well! Now I tried sun dream 6.5 rom and after the upgrade (I made an hard reset, power+reset!) the old programs installed previously are always there! I tried many times hard resets but my blue Angel start to freeze! I made a downgrade to wm6.1, now it works, but all the olds programs are always there! The system is instable, very slow. What can I do? It seems I made same error but what?
Any help is appreciate... TIA

Looks like you are flashing the 6.5 ROM without formatting the storage.
Have you tried this when you did the hard reset:
1. You'll see three options on screen. You must change the second and the third to yes. If you are not developing/testing software you can disable the first debug option for better performance.(“Enable KITL” must be NO, “Clean Registry Hive” must be YES, “Format Storage” must be YES)
2. Press the "Mail" button. A white screen will show for 30 seconds, while it is clearing your device in preparation for the new ROM to start executing

Also - make sure your device (actually, your wm version) is capable of runing software you are trying to install.
Anyway - just hard reset your device. It will be most likely impossible for us to guess what is missing. Propablly there is a big mess in your windows mobile now and I don't know of any method to return it to original state except of hard reset. It will be fastest method, and your software won't be deleted if you installed it on your sd/mmc card. Most of it will be still working too - you will only have to make shortcuts.

No clue. But I'm pretty sure that installation will take much less efford and time that any attempts of fixing os.
Did you make sure, that it's not becouse of your os version, that you cannot install software? For example, try totall commander, if it won't install, then hard reset your device.
By the way, why not give wm6 a try? wm5 is in my opinion outdated, and the cooked wm6 roms are not really unstable or anything.

unfortunately total commander not installed.
So, only hard reset left...
I will do it in next month cos I need CoPilot for few week now.

I'm not sure. It depends of what backup contains.
If I were you, I would just leave device like it is for now. If you really can't afford to have CoPilot corrupted, then it's the best solution for now. Just do hard reset when you will be able to.

easyiest thing to do is: =]
Step 1: Start -> Settings --> System? --> ClearPhone / hardres
Step 2: type in: 1234
Step 3: What till the ROM has reloaded
Step 4: Formate your SD card to default settings But change the formate to: FAT32
Step 5: Reload Copilot 7, and see if the problem is fixed or persists

OK, problem solved!
I made full backup, and reset my xda to factory seating and ROM.
Then I restored backup and every thing working very well now.
