G2 ( MyTouch ) Unofficially Confirmed By Tmobile Reps

Hey guys, Just wanted to let everyone know, I dropped by the T-mobile store ( USA ) today to ask around and see if anybody there knew about the G2 ( MyTouch, What tmobile will be calling it when released. )
Unlike many of the rumors according to online sources, it is in fact, coming to T-mobile only. Thats right, T-mobile is the only company to get the badass phone xD!
I asked a buddy of mine that worked there about release dates and other cool new things coming for T-mobile users. He told me the G2 (MyTouch) is scheduled to be released mid/late of next month. Yep, in August. And that they had a manager down in San antonio Texas, training on the phone as we speak. I will be going back tomorrow when he gets back in town, and get all the juicy details and post them here! ( And if he lets me, some pictures ) And also we have another goody coming to us, Were aren't at 3g JUST quite yet. But August 1st, We will be getting EDGE everywhere on the T-mobile network. That was guaranteed from the store manager there. And 3G will be coming for us, sometime around december of this year. ( 3G everywhere ) not just in metro areas. ( Hurray for all the country people....IE....me )
Now I know this isn't an official saying or whatever. I don't have links, and I don't have sources you guys know and trust. But I do trust buddies of mine and the people that work at this T-mobile store. They haven't let me down yet. So, I guess we can only wait and see if it does come to T-mobile only.
Like someone said though, and I totally agree. T-mobile would be complete idiots to let this phone go to someone else. If it was to happen. There not dumb. So hurray for t-mobile users. We should have our brand new MyTouch at the end of August. So we don't have to wait to much longer guys!

Of course it will be the same thing as the HTC Magic on Vodafone and Rogers...

Exactly. Seems like tmobile is actually the LAST to be getting it....

In fact, Im getting a vodafone magic shipped to me tomorrow. I have at&t, and I will have it before T-mobile!

I love how on all their promotions they are quick to include " super fast 3G" network. Here in Jacksonville, Fl. it will be 2012 be fore we get 3g. By then eveyone else will have 4 or 5g. I am really starting to hate Tmobile.
But phone looks great. I think I will stick with my G1. I like the real keyboard, just me though.

seriously? the presale started july 8. the preorders are being shipped at the beginning of august. these two things have been known and officially announced facts for at least a month now.
but the other guys are quite correct, the same phone has been out on the european market since at least the first week of may.
by the way, confirming all of this would have been as simple as checking the t-mobile website.

go to any local T-mobile store. they were all issued 3-4 phones to show customers one of each color at least. The packaging is really nice also. leather bag with a nice cloth sack, and nice headphones and usb/charger

"badass" phone? Yeah... with a whopping 192mb of RAM as opposed to the 288 the rest of the planet gets. Badass indeed.
I'm over the MyTouch 3G. I went ahead and bought a used G1 and am saving my upgrade till later this year, early next year till T-mo gets a better Android phone. When I mentioned this to the rep adding my data plan, he implied that as a fellow phone geek, I was doing the right thing and that while he couldn't give details, I would be very happy with what's in the pipeline.

between the four major us carriers, 15-20 android devices are to be released in the next year. so far only three of those are slated for carriers other than TMO. so yes, you'll be happy with whats coming down the pipe.

That's the tweet. What I am interested in is why did they emphasize the Sprint version? I hope this doesn't mean that the original Hero will be left behind .

It doesn't mean the hero is left behind.
They already confirmed it is getting an update.
They just never confirmed the update for the sprint hero and the droid Eris.
Hence why they confirmed the update for those 2 phones now.
I just hope that they finish the update for the European hero this year. They did confirm it much sooner after all.

I agree, the European Hero Eclair update was announced almost 6 weeks ago now in October. What's taking so long?!

the update for unbranded hero will come earlier than the sprint version. this is how it's handled in nearly all cases:
- update is done for unbranded devices
- carrier pick up the update and provide them to their customers at a later point (because they have their own rom versions they need to update)

I'm using the custom rom taken from the unbranded rom, same phone just not going to get the stuff the carrier put in.

Old news... Supersonic out in July

I gave my sister my old mogul, and she had a text message thread that had 1k plus texts in it, and the phone locked up. She took it to the sprint store (I was asleep), and got them to order her a black berry When she came home I just wiped it, and it's all back to normal and working . Well she said teh guy at the sprint store said the Supersonic is coming out in July and to tell me (he knows I love phones). She said he didn't give an exact date though, just July.

Your mistake is thinking that the tech guy at the local Sprint store knows any more than any of us.
They don't.

Damn living in Tennessee, Wi-Max does me no good until they do a nation wide roll out. Even then, I probably wouldn't get it at home because I live so far back in the woods. I guess it has its perks though.

I kinda guessed that when he said it was running modified software... It was running the stock Win Mo 6.1 for the mogul they upgraded >.<, and the best part was he thought it was modified because I had AC S2U2 on it. Needless to say he had a mogul to

I wouldn't mind the Legend ("Hero2") coming to Sprint though. I love the look of that phone. Butttt it looks like the SuperSonic will be my next device.

As for the HTC Legend, Sprint might launch a CDMA version of it as HTC Hero2.
Like Sprint’s first Hero, the Hero2 will have a modified design. Its release date is not known at the moment, but let’s hope all this will be confirmed soon.

Orly? Honestly, if they do get it and change the look, that might would put me onto the SuperSonic. Idk yet. A big screen is nice, but Idk if I REALLY need a screen that big lol. Not to mention price. I JUST upgraded last October so I'll be paying full price. But of course, rumors are rumors. We'll see.

HTC One in Canada.

Thought I would start this thread for those who have info regarding the upcoming release of the One in Canada.
I have pre-ordered mine through Rogers. I believe the pre-order ends on March 22. Perhaps that is when we may expect the release of the One. That's the most solid info that seems to be floating around.
Anyone have info related to the Canadian release date, please post.

Just moving back to Canada and need to get a plan and phone so im leaning towards Koodo as it offers good plans.

Really hoping the production delays won't be affecting us Canadians too much. I'm keeping close tabs on Mobilesyrup for any news regarding the One's release. Didn't go w/ the pre-order through Rogers. Figured I'll probably get it faster if I check various Rogers stores the day it's released.

I did the opposite. I bought a One V from Koodo outright ($175), put my Telus sim card in it and was up and running in no time.
A Telus or Koodo "locked" device work on either. My "my Telus Mobility" page even shows a Koodo One V as my current phone.

Be careful, MOST of devices work on both carriers, but som eare locked to Koodo or Telus. For instance, Blackberries are locked, you cannot use a Telus Blackberry on Koodo.
Once again, most of devices will work on both carriers without unlocking

Damn I am jealous of all you guys. I got an HTC One X+ about 4 months ago. I would love to have the One but I need to wait for the next iteration. I know for the vast majority of people the storage is enough, but I need at least 64GB. My one X+ has 4 GB free and it is 64. Here is to hoping for the next one. I love the build quality of HTC devices compared to other android vendors, and from what it seems this one is the best so far.

Yup, blackberries are unique because of BBM and the fact that their email etc has to be routed through their servers. That is also why all companies have smartphone plans, then blackberry plans due to the licencing fee. If it is not a Blackberry, it should be fine. The fellow I responded to was asking specifically about the One

I am hoping the 64gb version of the One makes it here (in black). If not, 32gb is fine for me at least. I got the One V as a temp phone cause I was pissed last years One XL and S had only 16gb versions for Canada. Almost jumpsed on the One X+ but figured i'd wait for the inevitable spring / MWC ish flagship that HTC always releases. I am glad I did.

I read that it would be available in March. I haven't read of any delays in Canada. Nothing other than they won't disclose a launch date and it is nearing the end of the month.
So perhaps it no longer is March.

I received the $100 off email yesterday. But I'm on Sprint. And I can't select Sprint on the pre-order site, so I haven't ordered the phone yet.

Me too, contacted Sprint, no tentative date of release. They need to get the ball rolling.

I must admit, I've been very excited for the release of this device. I've been a big fan of HTC since the Hero days and am still quite happy with and impressed by my trusty M7. The release of the 10 has, in my opinion, been nothing short of dismal. As evidenced by Samsung and even LG, you need to have your product available when the hype is at its peak. I'm really optimistic that the 10 will be worth the wait (despite not being water resistant, which would have put the thing over-the-top) but in this day and age people don't like to wait and with so many other great options available a struggling company can't afford to miss out on even one potential sale...

Verizon is the #1 Carrier and seems to sell the most phones for HTC so I have no doubt that they were the first because of that. Back on the M8 sprint got the only harman kardon edition and I am think they didn't sell as many as HTC would have liked. HTC is trying to fix their profit problems in the US and one way to do that is to make Verizon happy. The sprint version will come. We already know a t-mobile phone will come as they did an un-boxing yet no announcement and I would assume its because Verizon rigged the game to be first. ATT won't sell it probably because they don't care to, they know people that want the phone want an unlocked/unlocked bootloader and will pay for it and they are possibly fine with that. Plus I assume they have have a better deal with Samsung and Apple where they make more money per phone sold. I will say it is sad to see that the unlocked version wont work on sprint, I think you can blame Verizon for that. This is only my opinion but verizon is opposed to unlocked bootloaders we all know, but since its CDMA it would be eaiser for HTC to make one "CDMA version" of the phone for both Verizon and sprint. It is still unclear if the unlocked version will have CDMA bands my guess is it wont. If it has CDMA the unlocked version has band 13 and should work on Verizon. That would be a big disappointment for sprint users since it does not have the 25, 26, 41 LTE bands. I am just glad I will be on ATT now...
I should add Verizon always gets their way, I cant wait till they day that stops but until then bye bye.

Really surprised there's not even a sign of when pre-orders are going to start yet. All the hype will be gone by the time that date arrives....

saw a email (addressed to someone else) from a marketing VP @ HTC which said the sprint option would be available on htc.com on 5/11...take that with a grain of salt...it didn't mention if the option was to buy or pre-order, though you'd think by then it should be the option to buy!

5/11....wow. I surely miss the days of the M8 launch. I guess funding is the biggest issue with availability. I hope that the 10 can really help out HTC with their finances.

We are expected to pay for the phone AND stay with Sprint using a phone that cannot be transferred to any other GSM network?
Somehow, GSM carriers are now looking good.
I have been with sprint since they kitted out as Sprint. Hope the above is not the only option.

Consider T-Mobile if the coverage works in your area. It's super fast in most big cities, the plans are reasonable and they are modding friendly.

But T Mobile will not have OMJ
