M4A ID Tag problem - Touch Diamond2, Pure General

When using the musicplayer on the Diamond 2, I have discovered a problem!
It doesn't seem to read the ID Tags properly when playing musicfiles in m4a format! The tracks are not played in the right order!
When using MP3 everything seems ok.
Anyone else having this problem!
Before telling me to simply convert it to MP3: I have tons of music in m4a format which i use on my iPOD aswell. So it is quite overkill to have it all in various formats!

same problem but over a year gone! can anyone help?

sadly I have the same issue as well, I am unable to edit the ID3 tags to the M4A files of my itunes music, but all my MP3s are just fine. Whats up with this phone not reading the tags?

importing/playing .M4A music files to my Touch HD

Hi Guys...
I'm struggling here, I've surfed the wiki, the FAQs and the web and these seems as though it should be simple but...
I've tried (a) dragging and dropping into the device music folder and (b)importing through syncing with my PC's WMP 11 both with equal success - none to be exact. I can see the name of the file but it won't play.
I've treid some MP3 ring tones and they work OK but I can't listen to those on the tube each morning. Mearly all my music is in iTunes as M4A's which are stated as being compatible and supported - but they don't play.
Any idea's, am I missing CODECs ??? Anyone got an idiot guide for getting music out of iTunes into my HTC ???
Thanx for your help as always...
This one puzzles me.
ALL my music on the HD is in M4A format (because it seems more space-efficient than MP3). It plays no problem with the unbuilt players.
My files weren't from iTunes though. I make them using the Nero codecs on the PC.
m4a from iTunes on touch HD do not work
Hi out there,
I am facing the same problem, I can see my m4a files on the Touch HD but they won't play. After converting them into mp3 it's fine but this is a hassle and the instructions say it can play m4a. Any news on this would be highly appreciated.
The songs are iTunes + and thus DRM free, so this cannot be the problem.
Thanks for sharing any advice,
cheers,
levallier
Hey guys,
I had this problem aswell since I copied my iTunes directory to my SD card. I decided to buy some music player software for my phone since I use it alot so.
Now I'm using Pocketplayer and I've had no problem since .

WMP 11 and m4a files
I too am having the same problem. My files are from iTunes and DRM free but they will not play. I believe the problem is that the ROM I have is using WMP 10.3 and only has a WMP 11 skin. I have not found a way to 'upgrade' WMP to any other version..

Try to create an AAC-version...
Hey... I had the same problem: My bought, DRM-free iTunes Plus files did not play on my Touch Diamond2 even though all metadata - including coverimages - showed up nicely in the TF3D Mucis app. After a little research in here, I tried to use the "Create AAC version" option in iTunes and PRESTO - all my music was playable again. I suppose this is due to some incompatibility with the wrapper Apple uses around m4a-files.
If you want to keep track of which files are "originals" and which are AAC-converted versions you can create a smart playlist in iTunes and select by type...
core player have no problems playing any m4a files I got both own conveted and itune bought mind you non drm
and even if one got drm files one can convert them to non drm without any problems using itunes now that apple drop'd drm
I use coreplayer to play both m4a and m4b files. Yes I know its not free, but its well worth it IMO.

mp3 tag - picture not showing

i just attached some pictures to my mp3s but they don't appear to be showing while playing mp3s, plus some songs are even being picked up, yet they are on the memory card??
i used the program Mp3tag on my desktop, and copied the mp3s across using explorer.

Possible Solution to the FLAC Tag problem

Hey guys,
I mostly listen to songs encoded in FLAC and often times my Galaxy S would totally mess up the tags. It seems it doesn't recognize the FLAC or FLAC ID3v2 tags.
- Most of them would be "UNKNOWN"
- Last letter of the album tittle would be missing
- A lot of blank files that would crash the player if i tried to play them
- A duplicate copy of the album would appear with no album art and unplayable songs.
- And also, songs would skip 1/10th of a second, i can live with that but still annoying. Upgrading to JPK solved that issue
First thing I did was make sure my tags were correct using Mp3tag (using v2.45) and that there was only 1 album cover (sometimes u have several, which messes up the album art)
Once my tags are all in order, and this is key, when u copy ur files (or your entire folders) to your phone, make sure there are no .CUE or .M3U copied on your phon
I found that removing these extensions solved all of my problems. They seem to confuse the phone.
On an other note, the JPK media player seems different as there are only 4 tabs on the top, i can't seem to be able to filter by Genre, or maybe i can't find it.
Hope this helps.
Will
Thanks for the idea, but that's certainly not my problem. I'll check my FLAC files with MP3Tag.

Music problem

Hey guys I'm having problem with music on my dhd
I'm using Isyncr for mac to put my itunes libary on the sd card but when I open the music about 10 artists work then the rest go under unknown artist and it shows song time as 00.00
I used this app on my old nexus one and it was fine??
Any solutions would be greatly appreciated thanks
try just copying and pasting to the sd card instead of using and intermediary application if it works fine doing it that way then its probably a problem with the program
if they are AAC they might not playback most devices ive owned will not play AAC, AAC seems to be a format mainly supported by apple
Nope no still no luck, i copied over and its still doing it. There deffo mp3 files.. i dont know why its doing it.
Anyone else got any idea?
I have the same problem.
I'm really disappointed with the music player. It's basically a bag of s**t unless ALL your MP3s have the exact correct tags (album, artist, etc).
Most of my MP3s have "Unknown" or "Disk 1" as the album tag. So the music player puts all these into the same "folder".
Does anyone know how I can get the music player to navigate the SD Card correctly and just play a friggin folder??
I'm getting really frustrated with it!
Thanks

I9100 can't display the .m4a ID3

I 'm tested the m4a file at i9000 music player, than...it's can't display anything .m4a pic & Song iD, but can playing the music...
before ...i used the i9000 & LG 2X, it's all fine.
I9100 don't support the m4a ID?
I'd guess it's a bug as I've had the same issue. I store most of my music as FLAC on the PC and transcode it before sticking it on a mobile device. If it's an option for you it reads the tags from the ogg and mp3 files that I've tested files just fine. Foobar2000 will transcode your pretty much pain free, but I'd understand if you'd rather not go down that route.
Hopefully it will get fixed soon as I've got some music as m4a and I don't really want to use one lossy codec after another just to get the phone to read the tags.
Same problem here. The funny thing is that m4a files worked on my SGS on 2.3.3 (JVH).

exactly! it's weird.
Same here - the embedded album art is not shown and some tags were missing.
I've heard that KE7 doesn't fix this problem...
