i just attached some pictures to my mp3s but they don't appear to be showing while playing mp3s, plus some songs are even being picked up, yet they are on the memory card??
i used the program Mp3tag on my desktop, and copied the mp3s across using explorer.

OK, so using the provided 'doubletwist" software I transferred about 400 songs to my HD2 from iTunes last night... here is the problem:
The Windows Media Player recognizes all of the songs, artists, albums, etc...
The "player" on the homescreen has over half of my songs labled as "Unknown Artisit/Unknown Album...
I'm EXTREMELY picky about having my album art and order and not that little music note picture...
What went wrong here and how can I get it right?
Thanx!

When ever I transfer music I do not use the DoubleTwist or whatever it might be. I just connect my phone and select use as flash drive not the active sync option but the one below it. I have a designated music folder on the MicroSD and just do a drag and drop into the folder. I have a PC at home and Mac at work. What I do is drag the music onto a folder on my desktop from itunes and it copies the mp3 and then i drag it into my music folder. It works and every one of my albums have album art. Hope this helps

I also tried installing and using the double twist, which I gave up on. For some reason, it kept reading a card I had inserted into the SD port. What I did is I turned the phone off, took out my micro sd card from the phone (you do this by pushing it in towards the center and letting it go. you can hear a little click.) Then I used the card reader and put it into the SD port on my laptop. I was able to use the windows media sync option that way, and everything transfered over fine including album art and songs and titles and such. I hope that helps!
PS, would a moderator be so kind as to lift the restrictions of embedding links and reposting within 5 minutes from my account? I would greatly appreciate it!
I will try both of these and see what happens... Doubletwist is simply dreadful
FYI, I tried syncing the music last night without pulling the card out of my phone this time, and it seems to be working now. I don't know if it makes much difference, but I went into the windows media player in the start menu-- start>media>windows media player, and updated the library because as far as the phone knew, I still had songs on there that I had deleted. But I didn't try looking at the music on the HTC sense menu.
Hi
I have recently started to use my HD2 as a music player. Ripping CD's (yes my own) to MP3 and moving the files to my SD card.
The music files are numbered nicely 01, 02 etc. so when you look
in a file explorer the are sorted as on the CD. So far so good
However, when I tab the Music note and look there, the files
are sorted in a way I would describe as randomly.
I can of course solve this by a playlist, but I wonder if
anyone could give me some insight on this.
Thank you

I just got an HD2 last week and ran into the same thing as well. So far the only workaround I've found is to create playlists. If you happen to come across an answer, please post it here.
i put my music on as albums and find that each tune is listed as it appears on the album with no problem at all.

If I understand you correct, you are not just moving folders / files ?

Yes same here. The order of the tracks differs though compared to
File Explorer. Rather annoying

Solved. Ripped the CD using Windows Media Player and then 'synced' the
storage card using the WMP.

Be careful with that, have a search on these forums for using WMP to sync, I seem to remember an issue with one person's HD2. I think it stopped playing the tracks.
I'm very anal when it comes to my music being tagged, so there tagged with everything, are your songs tagged with track numbers?? that might make a difference,
and file explorer wont see them the same as the music tab as the way it sorts the files, date, name etc

what is the folder structure under which you put the music. It should look something like this:
\Storage Card\Music\Offspring - Americana
\Storage Card\Music\Offspring - The Offspring
\Storage Card\Music\Ozzy Osbourne - Bark at the Moon
A folder for each album under a general "Music" folder...
MUSIC
I just made a folder in my Storage Card and called it "Music" obviously without the quotes and used a Micro sd Adapter and put the card reader thingy into my laptop like a usb and transfered over my music. I have a bout 5GB of music and when i when to the music tab it said searching and found all my songs.!?
I'm not sure exactly what the problem is, (please be more specific if this isn't what you're talking about).
When you select a song to play, how are you selecting it?
If you go to Artists or Albums, it will only play the songs under the respective artist or album.
If you go to Library>All Songs and then press on a song, it should then play all songs. Is this what you're doing? What happens when you do this?
Do any of your music players freeze?
I have had it freezing once I loaded about 4gb of music onto it.
Storage Card\Music\*.*
I know just what he means. In the music tab you get the album view which is pretty useless/cumbersome, so, instead of playing music from there, he's going into "Library" and then possibly Artists>Album>SongName. Problem is, when you do that, HTC's music player creates a new (temporary) playlist with only that one song, so, if you want to skip to another song, you have to go back to Artists>Album>etc...
With HTC's player, you HAVE to create playlists to get the most out of it (or just stick with the default "All Songs" playlist (painful if you have over 1,000 songs because, again, of the lame UI for the music player)) and just switch playlists as you go.
Is there any way to get the HTC media player sort the albums in landscape mode to Artist then album like how its sorted in an ipod touch or iphone?

When i uploaded 6 gb of music all in different folders, the player showed it to me all in one giant list, is this going to fix the problem, or do i have to do something else?

The player can show it to you listed by album, artist, genre, or composer...just use the slider when in "library" view. However, this is dependent on the ID3 tags on your music files being filled in correctly...
Is there a way to create ID3 tags for all my music based on folders?
I don't care about the albums as long as i can have folders and not a one giant list of mp3's

BTW i just downloaded ID3 tag editor and its great, so if anyone has these same issues try it, its free Stamp ID3 Tag editor
Hey im having real issues getting ANY music to play, it is in .mp3 format but my HD2 just wont play it?
Can anyone help?
I've uploaded a bunch of albums a couple of times now, reformatted the micro sd in between and copied them again but each time I've done it the SGS music player refuses to see some ID3 tag information and marks songs as Unknown artist etc.
Opening the files directly when connected to the PC with an MP3 tagging program shows them fine and no different than the other songs. When I edit them directly on the phone with iTag the info is there and I just need to resave it for it to then show up correctly in the music player.
Anyone had this? Is it an issue with ID3 tag formats supported perhaps?
From what i remember there are two types of id3 tags. Version1 and 2. It may only be compatible with one of those tags. I know my hero only read v2 tags.
Sent from my HTC Hero using Tapatalk
It had both, and all the other songs, even on the same album, were formatted exactly the same.
Not sure, as said, the tag info was there when I used iTag to update it, just wasn't/couldn't be read in the music player. Once opened in iTag and saved back out it was read fine. Odd. No worries though.
Hey guys I'm having problem with music on my dhd
I'm using Isyncr for mac to put my itunes libary on the sd card but when I open the music about 10 artists work then the rest go under unknown artist and it shows song time as 00.00
I used this app on my old nexus one and it was fine??
Any solutions would be greatly appreciated thanks
try just copying and pasting to the sd card instead of using and intermediary application if it works fine doing it that way then its probably a problem with the program
if they are AAC they might not playback most devices ive owned will not play AAC, AAC seems to be a format mainly supported by apple
Nope no still no luck, i copied over and its still doing it. There deffo mp3 files.. i dont know why its doing it.
Anyone else got any idea?
I have the same problem.
I'm really disappointed with the music player. It's basically a bag of s**t unless ALL your MP3s have the exact correct tags (album, artist, etc).
Most of my MP3s have "Unknown" or "Disk 1" as the album tag. So the music player puts all these into the same "folder".
Does anyone know how I can get the music player to navigate the SD Card correctly and just play a friggin folder??
I'm getting really frustrated with it!
Thanks
