hi, this is my first post
i was wondering, if i bought a wifi card, would i be able to play online radio on my phone?
im wondering because i have a HTC magician (orange spv m500)
it has 64mb ram
and cotulla's wm6.1 wwe3.3
which will most definetly be upgraded to 3.4 when its released.
tia X
well im heartbroken that no-ones told me yes or no
if the card is has drivers it will work ok
but afaik no wifi card works but i may be mistaken
If you have working Internet conection on your phone, online radio will work.
I'm used Resco radio with internet from my computer over bluetooth.
aww excellent
so if i got a usb bluetooth adapter
whats the quality like btw?? im just thinking because i thought bluetooth was low bandwidth..but yer this is a really good idea ill look into it, cos id only use it round the house anyway! like when its not really a good idea to have ur computer around lol
jovan my friend, if u get the opportunity would you be able to help me out connecting via bluetooth to my pc? or anyone else who knows how to do it?
I can't help you if you are using cotulla roms. I can't connect my phone via ActiveSync with pc too...
But in wm2003 ppc can connect with pc via ActiveSync. And then you can share intertet connection with your ppc.
oh i see, so you dont use bluetooth for your internet connection? okay then my friend thank you

I have used bluetooth for internet through activesync on both the original rom and cotulla's 3.03 so I can help if you are willing to try (no guarantees but on cotulla's rom it is really easy to do.)
you will need to get an app for internat radio as well (I can help with that too if you need)

Hi Guys,
Sorry, put this in 'H & A' section instead of 'General' :?
I replied to this quote, then realised that I'd never seen the iROCK! mentioned generally here:-
I have an early version which works great with either battery or car adaptor (tho never in this country obviously!!! )

You could also try the amazing iROCK! which you plug into you earphone socket & it transmits on one of 4 FM frequencies to your nearest radio.
(it's illegal in the UK unfortunately, but available from USA etc.)
Don't know where you are located. If ya get caught over here, I never suggested this Guv!

I'm not too sure what you mean there, but you can listen to internet radio from the UK at www.radiofeeds.co.uk/pda
Thanks for the replies, working nicely on both Wifi and GPRS.
well i meant that i want to listen to Internet Radio stations and DAB Stations that broadcast on the net on my MDA? is that possible?
check out www.orb.com as you can not only listen to radio but also watch TV. If you hook your webcam and sky up to your pc at home you can watch both from anywhere in the world and it's free.

Yes. You might need to install additional players such as RealOne and TCPMP, depending on the stream format.
DAB stations are included in the site mentioned.

I wish that were true. As of 31 March,2006 UK/Irish radio stations can no longer stream their broadcasts outside the UK without having to pay the PPL more money.
What's the point of having internet streaming when it's only in the UK.
What we need is someone to run a nice proxy for these streams (wink wink, nudge nudge) for the entire world to access.
I personally listen to MMM (TripleM) out of Austraila with WMPlayer on my MDA.
http://www.mrock.com.au/2mmmlivestream.asx
There are four stations that stream, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and
Adelaide.
Otherwise I use MortPlayer to listen to Shoutcast streams.

Hello everyone,
Hope all is fine with each & everyone of you.
I have a question that I need to ask (especially for those who live in the US of A) or those who are very tech savvy with in depth understanding of HTC devices hardware, if any of you had tried this item (or can try it & confirm)
http://www.gomogear.com/detail.aspx?PRODUCT_ID=214620
It would be really cool to have an FM Radio in our (at least my ) PPC
It uses the SDIO technology, I dont know if its supported by Universal but as you can see in this table
http://www.gomogear.com/genDocs/SDFM2updatedCompatibilityList.html
They do NOT list any Universal device, but again if you see the bottom of the main page, it reads Copyright © 2005 GoMoGear.com
which means they do NOT update their site as often as they should, so maybe...
I hope to hear the good news soon, of course if you happen to know an alternative for this gadget, please let us (me) know
Thank you & have a nice weekend.
i don't know about radio, but i use sling media and watch my tv all the time. there is a setting that you can choose the uses audio only as well
Well one can use Nokia HS 12w BT headset for FM...I am using & its amazing...

Hello Dean,
Well for a start I thought (Sling Media) was some GPRS service or 3G feature that your network operates, I did some search and I found out that this is a device you have to install somewhere & then have internet connection to be able to receive it's signal wherever you are, I like the idea, but this is not what I meant with the original post, this mean you has to have whole lot of equipments (TV, cable, satellite, etc..) somewhere (home or office).
The thing I referred to in the original post is a SDIO card, same as SD that we use for storage on our Universals, but these comes with built in IO (Input/Output) features, check this out for more details
http://www.sdcard.org/sdio/index.html
I found a product that provides FM tuner in an SDIO card, but they do not list Universal as a compatible device, not because its not (I think) but because they have not tried it it, as it is (the SDIO) compatible with previous HTC models.
I hope someone can confirm
Have a nice weekend

Well I didnt know Nokia HS 12w BT has built-in FM tuner, which is cool if it is, but I do already have a Motorola BT HT820 headset.
By the way, although Nokia headset are supposed to be wireless, the real thing is that they do have wires (Motorola HT850 is really wireless), but again this is not what we are talking about here, its the FM on Universal.
Thank you for your idea though mate!
Have a nice weekend![/url]
HS 12w has builtin FM TUner....
Can't comment on the one you're asking about but the link below has one that I can guarantee does work as I have one. http://www.c-guysusa.com/

Does it work with Universal even if it is not listed?!
I read the compatibility page and something tells me that it IS the same device, as they both have SAME listed phones the SAME way, anyways I don't care what is the brand on it as long as it is working, so can you please confirm it is working with Universal?
Did you have any problem installing the software?
Thanks Mate & I hope you had a nice weekend!
Cheers

Indeed I can confirm it works even though it's not listed. I had no trouble installing the software but the user interface is quite basic and not much to look at.

this is just a post to let people know that although the TYTN doesnt have a radio, you can use your WiFi or your Tmobile wnw to listen to clear radio on your phone. i have the web n walk £7.50 and i use it to listen to internet radio. i will advice you to check still and will not be held resposible for any mis-haps.
from your web browser on ur tytn, just type in www.radiofeeds.co.uk/pda/ and you get to listen to your favourite stations in UK with any Hisses. i come from london but am in Uni at Surrey, but i can listen to london radio stations from my phone. i use my wnw for this not my Wifi and i must say, the quality is amazing.
Thanks mate! Looks promising will try out and let you know.
theres a thread that lists a bunch of streaming portals.. i'd suggest a seach if you are interested in more stations.
I'm in the US and use resco radio for my streaming needs. PDAhomepage.com used to be good but for some reason its not working properly anymore.
Also i'd recommend going to http://www.pocketpcmag.com/mobile/mobile.asp on your pda and checking out the media links given there.
If the site your recommending is good, you should submit it to pocketpcmag's list... we can never have to many options
came to me an idea to connect the music player in the phone to the FM radio in the car to play it ! I'm very positive for it .. since getting TMC from the radio to the gps software (in this thread) , so there is a possbile connection between them ? the question, could someone came with a software or hacking can do this ? with no need to buy external FM CAR KIT device to make it works !
I hope yes ...
Thanks ....
im also looking for such an app..
i had also put down the same question here
Hi, i think you don't really understand whats meant by RDS/TMC through radio. It doesn't get information from your car-radio, it's a build-in radio device within your phone. And this is even a receiver, not a sender. As far as i conern there are onky three ways to connect your phone to your car-radio and all of them are the way 'music from phone to radio'
1.) bluetooth, but only a few radios have got it
2.) via fm-transmitter which is a way whichmostly shold work
3.) vie line in at car radio and line-out/speaker-out/headphone at phone
regards
Bernhard

2.) HOW CAN U CONNECT "via fm- transmitter "? ?
Hi imrock,
ask google for it or even ebay. ;-)
1. buy fm-transmitter
2. plug in fm-transmitter to device instead of headphones
3. search for the frequency on which your transmitter transmits at your car radio
4. enjoy
I don't have experiences on my own, but a few weeks ago i've seen a test in a magazin. They summorized as follows: The quality of music is not really good.
