came to me an idea to connect the music player in the phone to the FM radio in the car to play it ! I'm very positive for it .. since getting TMC from the radio to the gps software (in this thread) , so there is a possbile connection between them ? the question, could someone came with a software or hacking can do this ? with no need to buy external FM CAR KIT device to make it works !
I hope yes ...
Thanks ....
im also looking for such an app..
i had also put down the same question here
Hi, i think you don't really understand whats meant by RDS/TMC through radio. It doesn't get information from your car-radio, it's a build-in radio device within your phone. And this is even a receiver, not a sender. As far as i conern there are onky three ways to connect your phone to your car-radio and all of them are the way 'music from phone to radio'
1.) bluetooth, but only a few radios have got it
2.) via fm-transmitter which is a way whichmostly shold work
3.) vie line in at car radio and line-out/speaker-out/headphone at phone
regards
Bernhard

2.) HOW CAN U CONNECT "via fm- transmitter "? ?
Hi imrock,
ask google for it or even ebay. ;-)
1. buy fm-transmitter
2. plug in fm-transmitter to device instead of headphones
3. search for the frequency on which your transmitter transmits at your car radio
4. enjoy
I don't have experiences on my own, but a few weeks ago i've seen a test in a magazin. They summorized as follows: The quality of music is not really good.

Hey
Is there a cab of FM Radio for Elf??
Thanks
The Elf does not have fm radio, never has, never will. It is not capable as it does not have the hardware; however, if you want to try it anyway - Try the FM Radio cab for the touch diamond.
I have already trying this but it doesn't works... Thanks for your fast answer
Sorry, It doesn't work because it can't work. As I said before, No hardware in the elf for FM Radio.
If you have a good data plan - Use can listen to internet radio. This is what I do and I get much better selection of music to listen to with no *(or hardly any) commercials.
Ok, good idea
i know that there is no hardware in the elf but is there a mod you can do to add the hardware inside the phone? or is there a mini usb attachment to give you fm?

Never heard of such a thing myself...
However, you can go to the dollar store and buy one of those cheap fm scanning pocket radio's - even comes with ear buds and you are good to go
Hi i think there is a bluetooth headphone with built in FM radio ( may be Motorola ! i cant remember ) you may search ebay or amazon
ok well thanks anyways for the help
Does HTC P3400i has radio?
If not, then is it possible to 'add' a radio to it by using some headset or headphone. Like other phones users the headphones to connect to the radio, can some such headphones be used to make P3400i connect to the radio?
Thanks

I guess for that you'll need two things, first a MiniUSB to 3.5 mm jack convertor and second a regular radio headfone. That will work i guess. Cost will vary according to the place you are from.
If you get success with this, please post about the model numbers and associated costs here too so that others can also benefit

I think that for that, a software also needs to be installed on the Device which could control the radio, like setting frequencies, turning on and off and etc.
No i dont think so. Headfone radios are not controlled by software, they have hardware controls. The only thing they have to do with the phone is drawing power from the miniusb socket.
so, could it be possible to add a radio?
Yes indeed it is. Where are you from, country i mean?
To one and all,
Two purposes for this thread:
Generally - I'm hoping it will be a good place for all the people (like me) that have tried to get a solution for this issue in so many forums (over so many years)and have simply been told "you need the wired headset for an antenna", to register their interest in a solution - hopefully a bit of chat and interest will finally yeild a solution. A simple +1 should suffice.
Specifically - I listen to FM Radio via my wired headset on my windows mobile device for about 3 hours a day what I would like to do:
I would like to use my wired headset (or some alternate antenna solution - for me to choose, ultimately providing a suitably strong FM signal to my device).
I will then conceal this antenna (depending what it is will depend how I do it (no rude remarks required ;o) )) and then put the mobile phone and the antenna in my pocket.
I then want to listen to FM radio via free to air (not streamed via the internet - data in AUS is expensive, I don't want a sub thread about who I'm with and alternate data plans) A2DP compliant bluetooth stereo headphones.
I am not asking for RDS, although I may look for a radio app with this later.
I am not asking for TMC.
I know this will drain my battery - I can manage this.
I know I could continue to use my wired heaset, however, I and many others based on my XDA and general iternet searching would like a nice simple solution to the above if any developer(s) are able to assist, I and I believe many others with similar non-existant coding skills, would appreciate it very much.
I am not intending to be rude, I have tried to be very specific about my requirements, I am trying to demonstrate that I have done some research and have hopefully highlighted that I do not need any "you need the wired headset for FM Radio therefore it can't be done" type answers.
I am very interested in this community and it's ability to rise to the "I can do that" approach which is why I am posting here.
Any feedback, greatly appreciated - especially if you can point me in the direction of a solution!
Kind regards
apj_apj
How to hide the antenna, I do not know, just using a small adapter with USM for Jack, he was short and easy to hide from the waist bag in his pocket jeans.
Even better quality of reception.
And to transfer the sound to Bluetooth use the excellent program BTFM Radio v1.51
Thanks very much mrTag. I've downloaded the application, can't read or translate the readme.txt or the whatsnew.txt so will just have to have a go I suppose! Does anyone know where there is an English equivalent?
My new windows mobile arrives in about 2 - 3 days, my current one died, so I will let you know how I go when I get it and try it out.
Thanks again for the quick response and the possible solution to my problems!
Here is a rough translation

I've been trying to listen my HTC Topaz radio via my Bluetooth CrashHelmet.
This works - allbeit just one speaker (mono).
Great Thx!
Almost there!
@mrTAG,
I've given BTFM Radio v1.51 a try on my Acer M900 handheld. Its native FM tuner application allows toggling the sound between the wired headsets (which act as antenna) and the device's loudspeaker.
I can't read anything in russian, but I've noticed that BTFM Radio broadcasts sound to my A2DP headsets only when FM sound has been toggled to the loudspeaker, and I tap on the upper left button on the application's screen. Nevertheless, the loudspeaker sound is not cut off at all, for what I have FM sound coming from both my A2DP headsets and the device's loudspeaker. There's not much point in such a behaviour, don't you think? I wonder if I missing some settings, due to my complete ignorance in reading russian. Any hints?
Furthermore, could you give me some guidance in reading the application buttons and settings in general, because I don't have a russian keyboard to try to enter what they are showing, on an online translation tool.
Thanks, anyway.
Cheers!
Carlos
I am unfortunately not a developer program.
Try to disassemble the program and translated into English.
But I'm afraid you do not help, most likely your device is not supported
I was looking for a program like this. One question: does this app integrate well with calls? I mean, if you're listening to radio and a call is received, radio is stopped and you can handle the call? I have a a2dp headset for my helmet and it would be great to be able to listen the radio and answer the calls while riding...
Thanks!
i am going to try this program with my Samsung omnia i900.
And btw, i found out a way to translate the notepad and readme to
english. please find attached files for he english translated readme and whatsnew.txt from the files.

my Gigabyte GSmart S1200 is not supported too.
I run BTFM_Radio.exe, then press the left top button out of the four buttons, resulting in an error prompts in Russian, which I don't understand the meaning..........

I wonder if your A2DP connection was already active, before you tapped on the first button. I don't read russian either, but I remember seeing a popup window once, when I had forgotten to activate A2DP beforehand.
Well, just for the records, after e-mailing Dmitriy, the developer himself, I've been told that the 1st button is "Start", the 2nd one is "Stop", the 3rd one is "Record" (provided that you have EmzMp3EncDll.dll on your \Windows directory) and the 4th one is "Exit".
Just my 2 cents...
Cheers!

I tried it also on a Samsung Omnia i900 but it doesn't affect the radio output, unfotunately! Sill unable to listen to the radio FM on the bluetooth headset.
cool, works for me but i have the radio playing out of both my phone speeker and my bluetooth headset...
any solution? if i turn down the volume it also turns it down on headset...
waiting on my stereo BT HS, meanwhile tried with mono and dosnt work, after playing with it (i dont read russian) when i change advanced bt audio setting to just audio headset goes into feed back like mic is wid open but no radio, i am hoping it will work when i get stereo HS.
FYI i have anadapter for 3.5 & charging and that allows me to listen to radio without the HS that comes with the phone i note these have 6 pins inside ware mii usb for connecting to pc has 5.
thanks for this program either way i've been searching and its closest i've come yet.
Here is the reposted link for the app hope its of use for all
After trying al lot off "software-solutions". I've got the best result with a little conector on my HTC Touch Diamond2 T5353 (HTC Topaz 100).
It's a little thing wich you can plug in via mini-usb, and out there is a headphoneconnector (mini-usb), mini-usb and an audio-jack.
In the audio-jack I plug in my bluetooth adaptor (dongle) of my blackbeat906 headset.
So I save my phonebattery and the adaptor works as an fm-antenna.
Hi ,
Much appreciate your having posted this file in the forum as its unavailable at the earlier mentioned url, however I'm unable to download it it gets downloaded as a .php file and not the .zip file its meant to be.
Also would this work on sony ericsson Elm ( I need a Java version please....)which has its inbuilt RDS radio.
many thanks

Hi!
I have a question regarding android devices in general. The main question is if this idea is possible with the right app or if you need special hardware?
I want to develop an app that let's you use any android device as a bluetooth headset connected to a cellphone. The setup is primarily for a car installation but other uses are also possible. This is how I want it to work:
I install an Android MID in my car and connect it to the stereo using a cable or bluetooth (depending on whats possible) to get the sound from the mid to the cars speakers. On this MID I'll have google maps and Spotify (or pandora) for navigation and music. So far this is nothing special, but I also want to be able to answer and make calls from a connected (bluetooth) phone (like on many dedicated gps).
By doing this I want the driver (any driver) to be able pair his/her phone with the MID. The calls to the connected phone will be displayed on the MID so their phones can stay in their pockets.
1. Is it possible to answer a telephone call to a cellphone by using an "answer" button on a bluetooth connected android device? Example "My Desire is connected by bluetooth to the android MID. When an external call is made to the Desire I can anser it from the MID".
2. If the answer to no 1 is Yes, is it at the same time possible to share internet via the same bluetooth connection?
Anyone have any idea if this is possible with the right app or if it need special hardware?
Sorry for bad english and long question..

With the right app, sure. Not sure if you can do it over bluetooth tho, maybe get a SIM for the MID and have your phone forward calls to it while your in the car. But i bet someone could figure out the bluetooth thing.
First of all, there is a problem connecting to the phone wifi due to it being an "ad -hoc" network. But the phone through the tablet is a great idea and some of us are working with such a prototype called "FLEX" it will be a small unlocked cell phone device that connects via BT to the tablet and handles the phone function for the tablet as you have described. Send me a pm if you would like more info.

I know he is talking about Bluetooth... but he also mentioned wanting to connect to 3g of the phone for data I believe.
I've actually had this idea as well! I don't know much about bluetooth programming, but there should be some way to spoof the phone bluetooth device ID or whatever to make the other device believe it's talking to a bt headset. I'm going to guess it might require root.
If you do decide to start coding something like this, let me know how i can help (ie, testing).

Thanks for all the answers. I don't think I'm able to program this myself but was interested in if the concept was possible. If it is I sure hope someone creates it. I would pay good money for a solution like that and I think others would to.
If you come across more information regarding projects in this area please let me know.
Thanks again.
I have searched the Desire hd section for any Bluetooth problems, but seems that im the only one with a problem????!!!
My Bluetooth conectivty SUCKS with any headsets!
i have tried 4 diffrent headsets! and all "god" ones.
But i get the same result, as soon as i move i get lots of bad sound (Donw know how to explane, but like a Tv sound without a signal)
and i have to have the phone at a maximum of 5-10 cm so i can get a "good" listning sound.
The person who talkes with me have no problems.
I tested with 3 diffrent Nokia BT
one of them is bh-606
Jabra Bt as well.
I have the latest firmware. But lots of apps in my phone? can that cause a problem?
Try settings/energy saving function/ deactivate bluetooth. (Turn off)

Hmm Thanks but that only says that it will close Bt connection while there are no calls active?!
I can alsaw add that my Wifi Connection sucks aswell. tried it with 3 routers. and if im not in the same room so the connection is not even detected! But if im in the same room i came upp to 18 mb download with a speed test app. So the Range seems to be a problem both for the BT and Wifi.

Plz Any help here?
Need to use BT units while driving + at work and i cant!
Edit:
i did a little test today with a Stereo Bt unit!
then bt connection works well!
so it seems that the problem is a software issue and its only with mono bt units!!!
Yet a nother sieries of tests!
I have now concloded that its the Mono Bt units i have problems with, and that its a software issue!
I used the BT in my car, and the sound works without any problems..
And i tested with a Nokia Stereo Bt, and same there, even upp to 10 m i have a clear sound..
SO it seems to be only with regular mono Bt units i have this problem!
Any tips?
