My O2 XDAII is 10 weeks old. After using the internet and the screen freezing I SOFT-RESET it. Now the screen will only flash with the O2 logo between the backlight coming on and off and a few letters/numbers at the bottom right of the screen. Ive never had any problems before...I cant soft-reset, hard-reset or (it seems) to be able to charge it. The only way in which it stops 'flashing' is to take out the battery. Is there anything I can do at home?? (as you probably guessed Im a novice at all this!)
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Many thanks, Rob
This happened to me just yesterday, although It happened in different circumstances. Baiscally, I went to turn the phone on and it wouldn't (with any button.) I tried a soft reset and all that happened was the O2 screen appeared with the backlight flashing on and off every 10secs.
Before trying a hard reset I waited to see what would happen when i connected it to the cradle at work. Soon as I connected it. it switched back on, but it was as if it had done a hard reset (ie everything I have installed was erased. Good job I made a backup!).
Basically, it seemed to rectify the problem once connected to the cradle, which hasn't happened to you I know, but i thought I'd let you know that I got the same "symptoms".
Just bought mij S100 and already a problem. My phone automatically shuts down the display, this is nothing strange. But when I want to turn it back on again using the on/off button, sometimes it does not react (sometimes it does). When this happens, i also cannot receive any calls. I tried to call myself with another phone and it did not ring. It looks like a crash to me. When I do a soft reset it works again.
I have the newest Qtek rom (1.12.00 WWE / 1.12.550 WWE) installed. Originally the phone came with T-mobile software.
I hope someone can help me with this problem.
If there is a problem with the power button, then you can go into Settings - Button Lock - do not lock buttons. This way you can turn on your device using any of the green or red buttons.
hi robbertje,
sometimes i have the same problem on my MDA compact (=imate S100).
on/off button does not respond - display dark.
soft reset resets the MDAc and everything is ok.
then a few days no problems. if this problem occours then more times.
I found out that if my MDAc is in this state and if I pull the SD Card out of the device, the screen is on but frozen. The time which is shown an the screen is not correct. Seems that it shows the time when the device went to the freeze status.
Also battery is very low after such problems.
I used to have it when I first upgraded to big storage. A hard reset seemed to fix the problem. What I found was that the screen would react, but it could be up to a minute after I hit the power button. Same thing when the screen was on, I'd hit Start and wait. After a while the start menu would pop up. This was before I even managed to install any other software so it's a windows bug that's fairly random. I haven't had it happen for a few months now, though.
I think PPCProfiles made the problem. I reinstalled PPCProfiles and it seems that the problem is solved but I will see ..................
Hey, I've already ur problem. It's an hardware problem!
The mess is that, when the PDA is cold (strange, huh?) it won't reactivate, causing to do a soft reset. Mystically, the LEDs are still functioning (I mean, if it's green, it will continue to blink BUT doesn't change for any reason)
The only way to fix it is to send it to the repairing center. Sorry for who is out of warranty.
Cheers,
MocciJ
new ROM?
In this topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=25761 it is said a new ROM wil fix the problem ...
Is this possible?
check http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=27956&highlight= too - may not be relevant, but it shows that power button wierdness can actually be the result of a dodgy battery.
remove your battery, and wait 1 day,my problem solved this method...
My PDA display and LED just stopped working today, and so did its phone. It still seems alive otherwise -- I hear it beep as phoneAlarm changes modes, and I can ActiveSync and copy files from it. Soft resets didn't help, and neither did removing the battery for 30+ minutes. Hard reset didn't help, either, though again, I can hear the device beep as it apparently boots up.
All this with a fully-charged battery, and even when hooked to external power. The display just stays blank, and no green/orange/blue LED is visible.
My PDA is 13 months old. Does anyone here have any similar experience (and hopefully, a remedy)?
Thanks.
Hi, I had the same problem on my S200, I wasn't able to get it working.
Hard resetting did not solve the problem i had to get it repaired.
The repairsman changed some hardware and now it works!
So get it repaired, you have a 2 year warranty...
Thanks for the advice, Mr Teek. I feared as much.
Are you in the U.S.? Where did you have the repair done and what exactly was replaced?
Please excuse my ignorance...Just got the phone about a month ago. If I perform a hard reset will I be able to restore all my calendar appointments if I sync it with my PC (outlook)? I think a hard reset is in order because occassionally my phone turns off by itself and I need to turn it on to reboot. Happens a couple times a day. I haven't installed any programs on my own. Phone is identified as htc 4350 ROM 4.17.405.2. Thanks.
I should mention that when this happens the phone is in it's case. I don't think any buttons are getting pushed..Doesn't seem likely that the power button is pushed and held in..
I am facing a problem with my Droid Pro (XT610).. It switched off yesterday due to battery loss.. ut it doesnot power on after that.. i charged it by many ways .. but all in vain.. when i connect it to the Computer it pops up a Sound of detection then rejects it... I tried hard reset and soft reset ut no gain... Can any one help me to get my phone back on.. Thankx :/
