I had dharvey's vista black installed on my verizon 6900 for about a year now with no problems. I just upgraded to nfsfan's v13 rom. I flashed it 4 times, and my radio version is 3.42.30. I let the roms do their customizations each time, and on the 4th time I ran vzw carriers, and used codybear's faq for verizon setup. when I open internet explorer, says internet explorer up at the top, the screen pops up, and immediately closes out of the program. I installed opera. when I try to go to www.google.com, the phone tells me its opening up the cellular line. the dialog goes away, it the phone freezes. I have this same result when trying to use weather on the today page, as well as any other internet program. Any suggestions?

I have been having a problem off and on with my advantage connecting to the internet for browsing and for the telnav connection. It started about a month ago when my battery would go dead in about 6 hrs of use and when I wanted to connect to the internet it would say: "cannot connect Dialed: The answering has disconnected. To check your connection settings and change them if needed, tap settings" So after doing various voodoo things like turning the phone on and off in comm manager, sometimes it would connect. Bear in mind, it is not the network or my settings, as my unlocked 8525 works fine when the advantage isnt. They are both on t-mobile with identical settings. I reloaded the ROM and it seemed to fix everything. he battery lasted 2 days, I could connect any time any where. This lasted 3 weeks. Now the connecting problem is back. The battery life issue is fine for now. I dont want to reload the rom which takes forever and then all of my programs and such every 3 weeks. Is there something I am missing? This is my first post and through 5 htc phones, my last before this being the 02 exec, I have always muddled through. But I need help this time as I cant figure it out. I love the phone when it works, and I need it for my business. HHHEEELLLPPPP?
more info
Sorry here is a little more info I forgot. I am connecting through T- Mobile data, I usually use Opera but the problem still exists through I/E. It works great right after a reload, but, with no change of settings, it just stops. I have put this SIM into my 8525 and it works fine. I put it back in the advantage and no joy.
Which ROM and radio version are you using?

Do a search for IOTA.cab and install it.

What happens when you run IOTA? (settings>phone>services>internet>Get Settings)
Get settings has the following choices
Location -> ON
Network Service -> Standard (Home Only is the other choice; deselected)
TTY -> Off
Time Sync -> Auto
Don't see a place to "run IOTA" from there....don't know where else to look.
I'll find & run the IOTA.cab & report back
Hope this works because I like the ROM Especially the conversational Text messaging. Very nice.
My primary motivation, however, is to find a ROM that actually runs BlueTooth w/out crashing the phone like Alltel's Stock ROM does. Jury's still out....gonna test.
Thx
BTW, I saw something that refered to "extended ROM". Whats that? And I didn't find IOTA.CAB here....gonna search PPCGeeks if their site ever gets smooth.
IOTA Cab
If you don't already have the IOTA cab check in your extended rom. Mine is called IOTA_1128.cab. Good luck
The IOTA cab just made the phone virtually unuseable. Wouldn't Activesync, hung up randomly on calls, and didn't solve the DATA issue.
I noticed the NID/SID setting different w/ the custom ROM than with the SSstock ROM, but I'd not written it down.....so....
back to the Stock ROM, everything works fine. Interestingly, the Username/Password in the Mobile Modem setup for the Alltell data are blank.
I'm gonna reload the custom ROM & Radio 3.27 next week & put the SID/NID in manually that exists in the stock setup & see if that solves the issue.
Sadly, however, the Bluetooth issue was not solved in the custom ROM. It worked once, then I shut the BT headset off. When I restarted it I had to soft reset to get a hook up, and I had no BT activation of MS Voice command. Very sad. I'm still interested in custom roms that acivate the GPS though, so its worth futzing around with
Hi, my data connection has stopped working reliably, and hoping for some assistance.
I have the Sprint Mogul, never updated the ROM when I bought it about 5 months ago. I have the unlimited high speed data plan. Starting about 2 weeks ago, the data connection would periodically fail. For example, I'd be using IE and in the middle of a session, suddenly it would say it couldn't find the page I requested. The only fix was the kill the data session and the reload the page. It would start a new connection, and would be fine. Over time, it's gotten worse and worse, to now where the data connection works less than 10% of the time. I have to constantly reset it, try again, and again, and again. Sometimes it does work after a long delay--i.e. IE will say it's locating, locating, location for 10-20 seconds, and then suddenly "wake up" and load the page. The same is true for all apps that use the data connection--for example Outlook. Sometimes it just can't download emails, and other times it takes 10-20 seconds to connect, and then works fine for a short time.
I'm thinking that maybe I should just update the ROM--is there a new version? (I'm running 3.35.651.2 from 2/22/08)
A bit more info: Wifi works just fine, if I connect through that, all internet functions are perfect. The phone itself is also fine--I can make and receive calls as per normal.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
The latest ROM version is 3.56. You must update since you are running 2.17 I believe. You will have GPS and a more stable ppc. As to your internet connection, do you have any memory management tool that clear your cookies (see all the pages you visit are stored on your ppc and that can cause the lag too) . Look for sktool.Oxios,Memaid...
My suggestion is to definitely upgrade to at least 3.35,but keep in mind that you must back up your data lke contact or apps that you dowloaded to the ppc. Upgrade will erase everything you added to the ppc.
Look for pimback up to back up your contact,or you can look up spb backup or sprite back up.
Good luck and don't hesitate to ask.
Not sure if any of you guys here have faced this issue. But quiet often when I reboot my phone it starts up to the home screen and then doesn't connect to the wireless network, so basically i see the home screen and none of the buttons work, I remove the battery several times and suddenly it connects to the network.
Is this a known issue and is there a workaround?
I use the official windows mobile 6.1 rom released by HTC for the Sprint Mogul
I'm hearing two problems here:
1 - Your phone doesn't connect to the network. Have you tried to do a hard reset? That sounds like a software issue. Make sure you back up all of your cab files and contacts/mail/texts that you want to keep.
2 - Your buttons don't work. That sounds like a hardware issue and not necessarily related to the network issue. Have you brought it in to a Sprint store to see if they can repair or replace your phone?
i am also facing same problem, my mogul shows wifi on status but does not detects the wireless network, and after several on/off (through wifi on off hardware slider) it sometimes gets connected.
Please help
Its neither 1 or 2.
usually when you switch a sprint phone on you get a pop up saying "connecting to the sprint network dialing # 777" and after sometime, once the network connects then the phone is fully functional.
sometimes for my phone on rebooting it doesnt connect to the sprint network and as a result my phone remains unusable, in the sense the touch screen/buttons dont work. after several soft resets/battery removal it finally connects. I live in an area where there is good network connectivity!

OK, thanks. That gives me a much clearer picture. I don't think this is a network problem. You most likely have something on your phone that causes it to freeze during start-up. Did you install something new or make a registry change just prior to this starting? Also, would you be willing to either reflash or hard reset your phone? A new flash with a re-cooked or different ROM will most likely help you out.
which recooked rom would you suggest. I use the default windows 6.1 rom released by sprint. and btw I removed phone alarm from my phone and it starts up fine now.
There are a few great options, and it's personal preference.
Ryan has made some very good ROMs available here on the upgrade forum.
DCD's last public version are still widely popular.
TPLane37 has made some neat WM 6.5 ROMs available
There's also some good stuff going on over at ppcgeeks.com using the most recent build of WM 6.5
You can also try cooking your own ROM using the tools at ppckitchen.org
Make sure you read up on how to flash before you try it. The process involves a number of steps that must be completed in the proper order.
I have rooted my HTC Wildfire and put Cyanogenmod 7.
Now I want the old HTC Sense ROM back. What should I do? Where will I get the ROM file for HTC Sense?
Thank you.
If you made a Nandroid backup (Which you really should have done in case you wanted to go back to what you had before), you can just restore it from the recovery.
If not, you have two options.
A custom HTC Sense ROM (Rempuzzle, kwbr, DK custom, ...) or a RUU (Stock HTC firmware)
try this
You can try leaf-htc-Sense
if you backup the old ROM you can restore it.
Look in the wildfire index thread in the dev section and get the safe zip file. Flash it from your recovery and you will have stock HTC, rooted and still have s-off + recovery

Network Problem
Hey guys, I had rooted and flashed my Buzz android phone. This had all gone successful. But now I'm having some major problems with my Mobile network. It had worked fine for about a week or so. Normally when the internet connected, the symbol turned green and allowed me to connect to the network but now it just shows the upwards arrow flashing continuously (in no order) and the downward arrow flashing once in a while. The connection varies from H and 3G but when i try to open any website like google.com it just carries on loading to no result. However when I connect with my WIFI it works perfectly fine. I used the CM7 built in browser AND opera Mobile and both gave same results.I checked with my 3 networks call centers, they said the network was up and running fine.
Please help!

Try clearing cache and cookies. And restarting the device.
Fancy wigets
Try fancy wigets, it is similar to htc sense widgets

Never had that while using CM7. It does move H to 3G but still connect. If you've confirmed that others on the same network as yours can connect to the internet, you can backup your apps using Titanium Backup and reflash the ROM. Hope it helps.
