Hi all,
I use the BT A2DP profile to stream music through the media player and one of the 'features' that differs from the K-JAM (wizard) and is lacking in the TyTN is the ability to continue that stream even when the device is 'off' (useful for saving battery, switching off the buttons, etc.). With the TyTN whenever the device is turned off the stream also ceases. Does anybody know if there is someway of ensuring that the media player is not switched off along with the device (I'm guessing a registry setting or similar).
All help very welcome.
Cheers
I was wondering this also. My wizard was able to be "off" and still stream. ANyone got any brigjt ideas?

Have you tried just turning the screen off? PocketPlus has a utility called "Screen Toggle," which does just that.
When used in conjunction with the Button Lock (leaving only the power button active), you just might be able to solve your issue...

Yeah...what he said!
That what I do.
I really miss this feature to.
So there is no way to do it on the Hermes?
Its not particulary elegent to have to perform multiple steps to turn the screen off. it was much eaiser just to hit the off button and listen away...
I'm using VjDeviceLock wich is what you want, I think.
After you've installed it you should create a new shortcut in c:/windows/startmenu/programs/vijay555/vjdevicelock. You can copy an exiting one in this directory and edit the parameter. What you want is "-displayoff". I bound this to my Videocall-Button, cause I don't use video telephony.
If I listen to music I just have to press my Videocall-Button and VjDeviceLock turns off my screen and locks all Buttons except the power on/off one.
Also VjDeviceLock is just great to save money
If you get a sms or a call the device turns on itself. I once didn't notice this and called a random person out of my adressbook, because I had my trion in my pocket and were moving all the evening and somehow started a call.
This cannot happen again, because I started vjdevicelock with parameter "-install". Now everytime my trion turns on itself it gets automatically (re)locked.
thats a fantastic solution and it works really well!
what program are you using to remap the buttons?
Hi,
Does anyone else suffers strange key problems when using VJdevicelock;
After using -displayoff or -displaytoggle and resume back to normal, phone buttons (call/disconnect,videotalk) doesnt work anymore, it need to be softreseted before the buttos work again?
-Kha
EDIT:
just found out that when resuming from -displayoff, after pressing windows and ok softkeys, dialbuttos work again!
I'd appreciate if somebody here could advice me on how to map VjDeviceLock to VideoCall button on my TyTN (I have original TyTN ROM and the VideoCall key is functional ). I couldn't remap it using Buttons configuration utility in Settings.
as I said you have to create a Shortcut in your Startmenu. Shortcuts in Startmenu are shown as available possibilities in Start - Settings - Buttons (Perhaps it's called a bit different. I'm using a german version where it's called 'Tasten')
This is how I remapped it. I don't use a special program.
I use the device lock on today plugins.

Thank you very much for your instant response. I did all you mentioned in your message and I remapped the VideoCall button (is it the Button between Buttons 4 and 5 ? ) but pressing it still doesn't activate VJDevice. Any other suggestions?
Is the device locked when you click on the shortcut?
If not: edit an existing shortcut, let's say "VJDeviceLock About.lnk". Make it point to: \Programms\vjay555\VJDeviceLock\VJDeviceLock.exe" -displayoff
It is right that there is only one "
When I open my shortcut in a text editor the content is:
Code:
64#"\Programme\vijay555\VJDeviceLock\VJDeviceLock.exe" -displayoff"
Yes. The device locks when I click on the shortcut itself but when I press VideoCall button, to which I had previously mapped the link, the Dialpad pops up.

getting rid of icons on your home screen
Here's a cool one I just learned. Hold and press the icon you want to get rid of. you'll feel a short vibrate. after the vibration you can move the icon around or delete it by dragging it to the little gray trashcan that appears at the bottom of the page. This won't delete the program, just the icon.
Great tips! Where do you get this information? I would like to

Also, how do you shut down particular programs running in the

The easiest way is to:
1. On home screen press and hold
2. when the menu pops up select "shortcur"
3. select the first option "folder"
4. done.
To rename the folder (only cause I didn't understand the first post):
1. open the folder
2. press and hold the top bar of the open folder, otherwise known as the 'dock'
3. type in name and change it.
4. Done.

Create a folder on your memory card names 'ringtones' and place your .mp3's in there.
First, unplug your phone from the USB port, then edit a contact. You should see your new ringtones in the list.

I don't think there is a way to change the name of a shortcut once it's made. Also I think only Any Cut gives you a choice about the name at all.

music?
When doing the ringtones memory card trick, will the ringtones stay out of the music list? For example
, in the music player app... I am hoping that ringtones will stay out of the music app. Can anyone confirm or deny?
1. Looking at buttons in Settings, the list is simply empty, no buttons to assign. Am I doing something wrong?
2. Also, I can't find an option to make the X button actually close an app, instead of minimizing it. Again, am I doing something wrong?
3. I noticed that on first startup Windows doesn't ask you to align the screen. Yet the option is there. But how do you accurately align the screen with fingers? I find the screen very unresponsive in the top left and right corner. Also, while typing I have to aim somewhat above the key I mean to hit. Is this a question of getting used to, or has it to do with bad alignment?
4. Where's the autorotation? Is there a way to tell the device which apps to autorotate and which not? For now, hardly anything rotates of its own accord. And since I can't assign rotation to a button it might as well go without a G-sensor.

With point 3, you'll get some debate about this with various people. I think there should be an alignment as everyone presses the screen at different angles and its not going to know that unless you align it.
HTC Hero had same problem, screen edges were unresponsive, until you did a calibrate of the keyboard and then it was perfect.
It is an option missing...!
ad 1: if you make shortcut of any program you want to run, rename it to long_send.lnk and copy to C:\windows, then long press left button and this program will be executed. (I downloaded from XDA rotate.exe to rotate screen)
ad 2: install Duttys HTC task manager, restart and X is back (also in settings yo can configure its function)
ad 4: there is a possibility to "unlock" rotation in registry, but as long as you can not see any buttons in buttons setting it's pointless... that's why I used point 1 solution

I know it's still there, but I wonder how you can properly align a screen with finger presses as opposed to the pinpoint accuracy of a stylus.
Before this I had the Omnia 2 with the same lack of autorotation options (actually, I'd hoped that returning to HTC would have solved that, but no...). Some clever developer had whipped up a very nice program called RotationDetection, with which you could decide which apps should autorotate. Something like that should be made for the HD2!

I tried this, and for some reason I can't get it to work. Here's what I did:
Downloaded rotate.exe to my storage card.
Created a shortcut to rotate.exe, also on the storage card, and renamed it long_send.lnk
Copied this shortcut and pasted it in the Windows directory on the phone.
Now, if I select long_send.lnk in the Windows directory, the screen does indeed rotate. But I can't get the screen to rotate by holding the send key down.
I have already soft-reset, and this does not solve the problem.
Any ideas?

Did you use THIS Rotate Screen with the shortcut link?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=347705
You will need to install Rotate Screen.cab (or Rotate Screen CW.cab) 1st
The Rotate Screen CW.cab is for counterclockwise rotation.
For me it's working great. When I hold the "call" button for some time the screen rotates.
did anyone install AEbuttons on the HD2
it works wonderfully on X1, HD1, diamond 2. it can assign 4 programs or functions to each button and that includes the volume buttons

Okay, so I used that rotate screen cab, installed it, found the shortcut it created in windows/start menu/programs and copied it. Then, I pasted a shortcut to it in the windows directory, and renamed that shortcut long_send.lnk. Then restarted.
Still doesn't work. When i run the shortcut directly in the windows directory, the screen rotates. When I run the 'Rotate' shortcut from the Start menu, the screen rotates. When I long press the send button, the screen does not rotate. Am I missing a step?
Not sure what you call the "send" button.
It's the most left button on the bottom that you need to press for about 3 to 4 seconds.
One more thing..
The "long_send.lnk" should be in the Windows directory.

Yes, as i mentioned, I put the 'long_send.lnk' shortcut in the Windows directory. Have tried and retried this about a dozen times now. Still no joy.

Okay, I FINALLY figured it out, and I'll post what happened just in case anyone else runs into the same issue.
I followed the instructions as posted and changed the name of the shortcut to Long_Send.lnk and put it in the Windows directory. However, apparently when you use the Rename function, it just allows you to rename the file and not the extension. It doesn't indicate this anywhere, so I thought I was renaming both the file name and the extension. So, when I renamed to Long_Send.lnk, what I must have in reality been doing was renaming it to Long_Send.lnk.lnk - and therefore it didn't work.
Once it dawned on me that this might be the case, I renamed the shortcut again, this time without adding the extension at the end (Long_Send), and voila - it worked.
Never had to rename a file in WinMo before, so I was unaware that the Rename function only renames the file name, and not the file extension.
FYI, you can remap most (if not all) hardware buttons with the .lnk hack. Here's more information on how to do it.
Unlike programs like AEButton Plus, it will only allow you to assign short and long keypresses (no double- and triple-presses), but won't consume any system resources, won't be draining your battery, won't conflict with any other software that uses keyboard hooks.
Use it with caution though.
I missed it - does aebutton work? How about the utility like this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=256525
I could have sworn I saw one specifically for HTC phones to remap the volume. It was something like vol up = dpad up, hold up for dpad left...etc.
I never use the volume controls on my current phone (Advantage 7501), and I'm expecting to be able to use vol up/down as dpad up/down for scrolling list and most importantly next page in reading a book!

This is the one you mean: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=552947. Haven't tried it yet.
In start->settings->personal there is an option for button assignment. I want to change a long press hard key ( any of them) to bring up the keyboard.
I tried several but couldn't find it. Do you know which one it is?
I'd like to make back button as X to close applications or programs
is there any chance for that???
The only button that can be modified is the call button. The only functionality that can be added is allowing it to execute an executable by holding down the call button.
What you do is you create a shortcut called "long_send.lnk" and put it into the \windows\ directory. Whatever the shortcut is directed towards, a long-press of the send key will trigger that programs.
Many users have made simple executables that rotate the screen, generate an alt-tab-like screen, or other task managers. By allowing long_send.lnk to those programs, in effect that button can be used to rotate the screen, etc (which is what I've done).
Someone is programming program to translate multi-touch gesture into running shortcuts. That will hopefully in effect replace our lack of hardware buttons, so we can trigger behaviors on our phones by gesturing rather than pressing buttons.

You shouldn't use this method. The link is also triggered by pressing the call button when you want to answer a call (not a long hold - just a press). It doesn't answer the call either - just does the long_send shortcut.

2) go to File
3) select Add button
4) press the SlideView hardware button (Ctrl Key will automatically tick)
5) Add Key (SlideView button will be save as Button #2011)
Now you are free to assign your SlideView hardware button..
