so i'm having this issue which is horrribly irritating, everytime i go onto my browser, use music, and recently whenever i get a call some application always has to foreclose. Its usually google apps, phone, or browser, but its been many other things as well (i.e. cnn widget, bbc widget, gps widget, etc.) this has been preventing me from answering my calls or basically using my phone in gerneral. Also before the phone call app or watever you call it started foreclosing and my phone was asleep, it usually took such a long time for the phone to wake up that i would miss the call, the phone wouldnt even let me click the green answer button to answer the call. Now i thought the problem was with my rom, which at the time was JF 1.51 Tmobile version so i changed my rom to Haykuro. The problem still existed so i changed to cyanogen 3.6.8.1 at first the problem was no longer existent, but a few days back it started again. I have no idea how to fix this or how to cope with it but any help would be great. Thanks.
LOL I think you need to change the title... Foreclose is different than a Force Close LOL
It could be compcache or a background task that's using a lot of memory/cpu that's causing the force closes.

I've turned off the section under battery "Turn off if not used for X minutes." This just started recently happening as well, I don't have too much software, and the ram looks fine. Every time it comes out of sleep there is a 3-5 second freeze that will not allow me to do anything, including dialing numbers, going to any screens, closing anything, etc.
I need to know how to fix this incase anyone is running into the same issue. The only recent software i've installed is the AIM 2.0 hacked, and I don't leave it running. This leads me to my next question, is there a way to get the phone to continue to stay connected once the screen goes out, it seems that is whats causing it to sleep, and cuts off my aim. (This isn't what is causing the freeze however, the app is completely closed, as are all others.)
I could desperately use some help, at this point its causing me to miss phonecalls as I press the pick up button, it doesn't register and by the time it does, they've already been forwarded to voicemail.
sometime i have the same problem...
So it definitely is about 18-30 seconds, not 5 like I had assumed. I'm awful with time, my apologies. I could desperately use a remedy
I'm not quite sure which one(s) were the culprits but I just went on a mass uninstall of any program I don't use every day. The phone was getting so slow that it almost acted like it wanted to lock up. One time last week it froze up for a couple minutes while trying to text someone with voice to text in stock app. I suspect it was "extreme call blocker" and "poweramp". The reason I suspect those is every time I booted up, I'd get bottom notifications about loading libraries and starting services. I might be wrong but it seems like it's not as slow. I will have to run it a few days to see if there's any improvement.
Hey Peoples
Ive got android 2.2 (updated from telco) and i've noticed occasionaly the phone dialer will crash.
Someones it will not answer a call when I try slide my finger over answer (or hangup if i want to not answer).
Also after a call it doesnt always want to hang up when i press the hang up button, and the call stays connected.
The above problems are quite random but somewhat anoying. Just wondering if anyone else has the same problems ? And does anyone know of any other dialer software I should try using ?
Thanks heaps
Justin
I am having the same random problem. Randomly sms apps (the built in one and, i.e., handcent, stop working. Any suggestion or tip?
Factory reset would be my first step .

Uf! I do not have such severe problems as justin911 (OP).
But I do get dialer crashes and after that the Dialer app is draining my battery thru partial wake.
Once it crashed when I was in contacts and searching for somebody, other times I got called by someone and after 2-3 sec of talk time my phone automatically hung up the call (I called him back 5 times, same thing happened, then I just rebooted the phone and it worked).
For me to get the dialer back and working normally I have to reboot the phone.
This problem occurs randomly and it started doing this in v2.2.1 (Doc's XWJS3+speedmod kernel), but thankfully up until now it only occured 3 times.
Hi!
I finally found a solution to phone dialer crashes (I did not have a dialer crash for over a week now).
According to marcedli and his post the solution is the "Memo.apk" file that needs to be in "/system/app" (everyone should have it, because it is Samsungs own app).
I did not have it because I flashed my own rom from Doc's Kitchen and I do not use it, but apperantly it is needed by the phone app.
I copied "Memo.apk" into "/system/app" folder, rebooted my phone and everything works now and I never had a dialer crash that it would then force my phone to stay awake.
If anyone uses the XWJS5 FW, here is the link to CWM updatable version for "Memo.apk" (or just extract the file and copy it using Root Explorer):

@justin911 (OP):
It is also possible that in your telco's ROM, "Memo.apk" file (it is "Memo" app in the app drawer) is not included, if it is included it is also possible that some other file was not included into the ROM that is needed by the dialer app or some telco's app is messing with the dialer app, not sure.
The solution would be that you flash Darky's ROM or use Doc's ROM Kitchen.
I hope I helped you or at least guided you on a right track!
After two weeks I got the partial wake of Dialer again.
It woke up my phone for 3h and drained my battery.
There is obviously something else going on for these Dialer crashes.
i have the same prob.
i just do a factory reset and dialer crash prob disappear.
I'm having similar problems.
Sometimes, my phone just won't call anyone. When I call a number, there's just a long almost silent noise - and then it just hangs up without any error message. Almost seems like it doesn't get a "line free" signal.
Reboot fixes it, but it annoys the hell out of me.
Flashed to JPY via spoofed Kies...
Anyone got an idea what this could be? :/
It's me again!
And this time I'm for 100% sure how to fix the partial wake usage on "Dialer"!
"Phone/Dialer" drains your battery when you're making a phone call thru the dialer/call log/favorites and then when you finish your call you just push the "power" button to end the call and/or lock & turn off display (and you do NOT wait for the phone app to go back to home screen or you do NOT press the "back" button). The phone app is now still working in the background thinking you're still on the phone and it's waking your phone up.
To "fix" this when ending a call thru Phone/Dialer always press the "back" button or make sure that you're in your "home screen" and not in the phone app (dialer/call log/favorites).
And I don't know if the Phone/Dialer is still running if you press the "home" button instead of the "back" button.
And I don't know if "Memo.apk" fix helped.
And I'm sorry, but I don't know any other solutions for your Phone/Dialer problems.
i had this problems on 2.2 which made me go for a change....now i just flashed 2.3.3 ill test it out for the week hoping to get rid of that problem
Hey guys,
I'm running the Miunia ROM and I've noticed for the past week or so that my phone has been force closing things a lot. The phone may just be sitting there, and I'll hear it vibrate once, then vibrate 3 times quickly in succession (which I think means a force close?). But I can't see what is force closing; no popup shows up. Which leads me to think a background app is constantly force closing for some reason... even though there is usually enough free memory.
Additionally, I play Scramble with friends and Draw something. When exiting the games (using the back button), my home screen always shows up as blank. It takes it several seconds for all of my icons and my widget to reappear. I'm thinking Zeam Launcher is being closed and I don't know how to make sure it always stays running. There is plenty of memory, so I don't understand why the phone consistently closes it and forces me to wait until it reloads.
I would ask Miunia's Dev but I am still under the 10 post limit. Can anyone help me with these 2 problems? Despite initially running very well and quick, Miunia is beginning to show some serious problems. I'm considering flashing a different ROM if I can't fix these issues, because I'm tired of dealing with them.
Thanks
I always had a ton of forecloses in the background. I would upgrade to I've of the ec09 roms though. Pat has made a new rom for that and I doubt will updating munia anymore
Sent from my SCH-I400 using XDA App
logcat will show you what is force closing, even if it is a background app/process. If you're going to be hacking your phone, I'd consider it a must learn thing as it is very helpful to find out what is going on.
Hi. I foolishly updated to NK1 a month or so ago assuming there was a root. Since the update, I've been having some really annoying basic functionality problems with my Note 3 (outside of it feeling sluggish overall). I've gotten around keyboard freezes, input lag and general f-ups in the Messenger app by switching to Textra. The now nonexistent haptic feedback was "fixed" by increasing the vibration length for each key on the keyboard. For some apps, I've sideloaded an old version to get them to behave like they did before the update. However, there are a few other issues that I'm hoping someone may have some ideas how to fix.
1) YouTube will constantly error out when trying to load a video and my subscriptions list. The white circle will just spin and spin until it finally gives me a "video cannot load" error. If a video won't load, it won't load no matter how many times I click on it to refresh it. I'll have to either close the app and reopen it, or for the really difficult times, restart my phone. Also, if I shrink the app rather than close it when I'm done, no videos will play when I reopen the app unless I close it or restart my phone.
2) The stock camera clears its settings whenever it feels like it. Auto flash, face detection and image stabilization will randomly turn from "on" and "auto" to "off."
3) All of the web browsers (Opera, Chrome, default browser) and Google Maps just randomly hang for about 2 minutes as they try to load data from Wi-Fi and 4G signals. It's similar to what happens with YouTube but they eventually fix themselves after these long hiccups.
4) Often when the backlight turns off before the phone is going to sleep and I touch the screen to keep it awake, the backlight gets stuck in its turned off state, making it hard to see the screen. The only way to get around this is to put the phone to sleep and then wake it up. It does this at least a few times a day.
5) Pulling down the notification bar will sometimes randomly cause my phone screen to start flashing between the notification bar and the lock screen. I have to do a hard reset when this happens.
Thanks in advance for the help! I'm sorry this post is so long. I hate this update and am seriously considering going to HTC.
Have you tried a factory reset?
I have not. I was trying to avoid that if possible and use a last resort.

It's probably your best option. But first try clearing data in the offending apps. Or making sure the apps are updated, or even unibnstalling and reinstalling the apps.
