O2 XDA EXEC wont except Vodafone after unlock? - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

Hello all, I got a O2 XDA EXEC in post today which I bought off Ebay for £30 which only ended up having a scratched screen! I have installed radio ROM 0.00.00 and then used Buzz's unlocker twice which said it unlocked but doesent take my Vodafone sim which is all I have at the moment. I then installed radio ROM 1.18 hopeing it will work but it dident!
So I decided to install Tomal's - v8.2: WM6.1 Pro havent had a good look at it yet but looks good!.
If anyone can tell me a way of getting this Vodafone sim to work that would be great!

Hi,
you have to remove the sim and switch the airplane mode OFF BEFORE the entire procedure. Remember to soft reset the device after running the Buzz unlock tool, so, these are the steps, flash the radio 0.00.0, soft reset, run the tool and wait the succesful message, soft reset and wait that it switch-on, NOW remove the battery, insert your sim and switch on again. In this way it must work, I've unlocked 3 universal with that tool.

Hello davideuck, That was the way I tried it but tried it 3 times again with no joy, The radio searches for a few seconds then comes up with no service. I am starting to wonder if this uni is going to receive any signal from any sim?? Like my M5000 before but that had no GSM which this one does have GSM.

Ok I have managed to get a new O2 sim card which I have put in the uni which does the same as the Vodafone sim... Nothing just has no service but does search for a signal every so often.
I have installed RADIO ROM 1.18 instead of the 0.00.00 and still does not receive a signal.
Im stuck now Is there any reason why this does this or is it never going to get a signal?

I have just phoned O2 to find out if my uni's blocked? not that they done any test but because I have tried 2 sims which work in other phones but not this one they say the problem is with the phone.
So looks like I have 2 useless uni's? Would I be able to repair the EXEC with parts from my M5000? ( M5000 had no GSM ) I have no idea what I would need to do but will try anything to get this working!

Would the O2 XDA EXEC original ROM sort this problem? This was already installed when I had it but dident work with Vodafone sim after unlocking.

I have installed the original O2 ROM which made no difference so went back to WM6.1.
I think there is something wrong internally?

No service on unlocked M500 with any SIM, please help

I have an orange M500 which I have unlocked with the xda tool. Everything was fine for a few days untill I noticed the M500 had a ! next to the aerial icon.
I tried an O2 SIM and that worked, switched back to the Orange SIM and still got a ! next to the aerial and a no service message.
Then i tried the O2 SIM again and now that is showing no service.
I have tried a hard reset and an Orange ROM upgrade but neither have worked.
Please help, I've run out of ideas.
Which of the three unlock tools did you use?
M
Maybe you have a stolen unit and its IMEI is blacklisted with the providers.
I used xda dev all unlock v1.6_138 on the phone. The phone worked fine before I used the tool. Then after using the xda dev tool the phone asked me for a code and whatever I entered didnt work
So I used the xda dev tool with PRUN and ran it as xda_dev_all_unlock-1.6_138.exe -q -f and the phone then worked.
I tried an O2 sim and that worked aswell. A couple of days later I noticed I had no service with my Orange sim, so I tried the O2 one and that worked.
Tried the orange one in another phone and it was OK, tried it in the M500 and it didnt work.
Now neither the Orange or the O2 sim work.
I have tried updating the rom with one from the Orange website and tried the xda dev tool again, with and without either Sim card, but its still not working.
Please Help
I have found that a vodafone sim card works in the phone. Does anyone understand why this works but an original orange one wont???

Try reconnecting the pocketPC to the phone whilst it is on and the symbol is showing up and then trying executing the PRUN program again.
I had a problem with my M600 where the security/network provider code did not work after running the PRUN program, but then I saw a post on one of the threads which said to try and run the program again whilst the phone was on and connected and when the device was asking for the code. Give it a shot, it might work.
ORANGE SPV M600 ::: modelM10B
I tried running the xda tool with prun when it was asking for a security code and it worked. The problem is a few days later the problems started. Now when I use an orange or o2 sim card that previously worked, I now get `no service`. I just don`t get it

Unlocking my Exec...

Just trying to unlock my Exec using the brilliant tool by BuzzDev - I rebooted into serial mode (which changed to USB when I plugged in my USB lead), I ran the flash utility and it stated that it was going to check the device.
After this process finished it said it was going to start, although the previous and new radio versions appeared blank on the PC.
I clicked START and it stated that it had begun and would take around 20 minutes, however after about 10 seconds it said it failed, and that the utility wasnt designed for my device??
So...I rebooted into Pocket PC, ran the 'UNI_Unlock_v1.exe' file on the device and left it - after around 20 seconds it stated SUCCESS!!!
Now I'm confused as to whether or not the unlock actually succeeded? Is there any way to confirm it as I only have an O2 sim card?
Why are you unlocking if you've only got one sim
Did the flash take at all? If you're using Buzz's unlocker, after following the instructions and the 20 mins flashing, you should have radio 0.00.
If you've got to that stage, running the unlocker tool should unlock you. Then reflash with a commercial flash to ensure compatiblity. But the 0.00 is necessary before success.
I can't remember how much error checking we put into the unlocker. If you really don't have access to another sim, PM me and I'll help you out.
V
Thanks for your reply. Yeah I did follow the instructions and the initial flasher did start, but after 20 seconds it claimed it wasn't compatible with my device!? Its an O2 Exec incidently.
However, the small app you run afterwards did state success, therefore is it safe to assume that it did actually work? Would it state success even if the radio didn't flash?
I also tried my Vodafone sim in it afterwards and it worked fine - I've just gone from o2 to Vodafone, I've got the new Hermes, hence the reason for selling the Exec!

Well, if the unlocker worked, and a non-locked sim worked, then it's unlocked right? Strange that you didn't need 0.00 first.
V
Yeah, just a bit - what exactly does the reflash do? And the program following it?
Hold everything one minute? Since when did O2 lock the Exec?
I have seen / used 4 execs so far, bought at varying times, and not one of them is sim locked?
the main benefit of the unlock tool I can see on the exec is to gain SuperCID but as I said, I have yet to see a sim locked O2 XDA Exec?
In which case, brilliant!!! Wish there was a sticky thread summarising this issue clearly, the only thread I found was 65 pages long and rather unclear as to the end solution!
Great news in that case! Thanks CrashOverride!
Sorry, I forgot to mention that myself, I've also got an O2 exec. I think there was a rumour that O2 locked some, but AFAIK the Exec was always unlocked to begin with!

Trying SPV M3100 on Three UK

Hello all
As usuall we newbies tend to gravitate towards these great expert forums in hours of need. So any help would be greatly appreciated.
I'v been trying to get my old SPV M3100 to work with my new Three UK sim,
Iv run all the unlocking software and upgraded the ROM and radio with no error messages at all, yet everytime i try my Three UK sim in the SPV M3100 I get a SIMLOCK message and it greyed out so I can go no further.
My current setup is:
ROM Version 3.54.255.3
Radio Version 1.48.00.10
I wondering if it was the origonal unlocking that failed or weather the Three UK sim is just not working this phone.
Please excuse my ignorance, I've had a good root around the forum to see if anyone else has had this problem but I cant really find anything on it.
Cheers
have you tried this?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293665
thats where I started, I ran the software from my SD card and then ran the herm-unlock v3 after windows restored.
The very fact you've mentioned that probo means I've done it wrong I'll have to try again, I know it didn't work straight off from the USB connection, so I'll try the usb route again.

Need Help: the sim card is missing

Hi,
i've new problem with my S300+!
Yesterday my phone worked well, today I see the following message:
"The SIM card is missing. You can still make emergency calls if your service provider supports it".
I tried to switch the sim card to another phone and the sim works correctly, then i tried to put another TIM sim card on the s300+ and the message is showing too.
What's happened?
Originally the s300+ was SIM locked for SFR sim. But when i bought it, it was unlocked to sim free.
Two weeks ago i've upgraded the radio rom to latest version.
Reading the other device's forum, i've saw that problem may be an hardware problem. How can check if the problem is caused by hardware ?
Can I try to re-unlock the phone? or it is effectless?
Thanks in Advance!
can you try a SFR sim in the phone?
see if it works on that sim.
do you know the person you got the phone from?
how was the phone unlocked?
you could try unlocking the phone again.
I can't try a sfr sim!
I'm in Italy and I've bought the phone in France.
I don't kown the person that have sell the phone, and i don't kown ho the phone was unlocked.
I know that the phone works well for 3 weeks and then not!
I 'm tring to reunlock the phone.
if you do a search on this forum you will find the files needed to sim unlock your phone.
when you have done, may be your phone will be ok again.
On the down side to that may be the person that sold you the phone has reported it lost or stolen and its been blocked/locked if that is the case i dont know what you can do.
I have just unlock the phone, but nothing is changed!!!!
I've also checked my imei on this site:
http://www.amta.org.au/default.asp?Page=405
and it not seems reported as lost or stolen...
I bought a S300+ (SFR Locked) in January 2008 and I unlocked by myself using tools found on this board, it still work fine but with a Vodafone Italy SIM, but sometimes I use a TIM Sim too.
I don't think that your is a lock problem, from the message you get at the powerup sound like an hardware problem but you should try an hardware reset how last option if you didn't it before.
I've made an hard reset, but nothing happens!
Also I've tried to flash a new roms (an italian rom and the original rom), but was not the solution!
I'm not sure where is the problem, because the phone worked well for about 3 weeks, than suddenly shows the missing sim card message....
IS there a site to verify if the imei is blocked? i've try www.ama.org.au
Is There a program or a tool to verify the integrity of hardware, especially for ths sim hardware? or a datasheet of sfr 300+?
I've had the same problem on my trinity and it turned out that I needed a new sim card because the old one burned out after four years of use. This may or may not be your problem.
I solved my problem by inserting a little paper between the SIM and the support lol

Possible SMS fix or work around (worked for me)

I have the unbranded hd2 with hspl on, never had the sms issue. being a great fan of xda flash my fone at least 3 times a week. Every thing worked fine until i flashed the latest o2 rom 1.72.xx and i was hit with the sms bug... 'UNABLE TO SEND SMS' with a ! in a small triangle in the message. as this was never a issue i thought flashing the 1.43.xxx the original rom will fix it... nope did not work, tried 1.66 and a custom rom too but no luck.
I have been using a voda sim before i had the issue so after the official o2 rom i got the issue. when i tried flashing the above mentioned roms i had the voda sim in my phone and did not fix it.
Here is what i did..
1. Put an o2 ( or any other sim in your case apart from the sim you have the issue with).
2. flashed the 1.43.xx official rom (flash the original rom your device came with if your phone is branded flash the generic rom 1.43.xx or 1.66 so you can proceed with the next step)
3. run the full setup as you normally would. like - setup time, wifi, agree to location.. etc. and importantly setup the automatic connection for the new sim in the device.
4. sent a test message with the o2 sim.
5. shut down device not taking battery out.
6. insert my voda sim ( the orginal sim the one you use daily)
7. power device and go through the full setup again in step 3.
and to my surprise the hd2 was bak in full force.. Hopefully this may help you guys as this has certainly helped me.
cheers.
