Unlocking my Exec... - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

Just trying to unlock my Exec using the brilliant tool by BuzzDev - I rebooted into serial mode (which changed to USB when I plugged in my USB lead), I ran the flash utility and it stated that it was going to check the device.
After this process finished it said it was going to start, although the previous and new radio versions appeared blank on the PC.
I clicked START and it stated that it had begun and would take around 20 minutes, however after about 10 seconds it said it failed, and that the utility wasnt designed for my device??
So...I rebooted into Pocket PC, ran the 'UNI_Unlock_v1.exe' file on the device and left it - after around 20 seconds it stated SUCCESS!!!
Now I'm confused as to whether or not the unlock actually succeeded? Is there any way to confirm it as I only have an O2 sim card?

Why are you unlocking if you've only got one sim
Did the flash take at all? If you're using Buzz's unlocker, after following the instructions and the 20 mins flashing, you should have radio 0.00.
If you've got to that stage, running the unlocker tool should unlock you. Then reflash with a commercial flash to ensure compatiblity. But the 0.00 is necessary before success.
I can't remember how much error checking we put into the unlocker. If you really don't have access to another sim, PM me and I'll help you out.
V

Thanks for your reply. Yeah I did follow the instructions and the initial flasher did start, but after 20 seconds it claimed it wasn't compatible with my device!? Its an O2 Exec incidently.
However, the small app you run afterwards did state success, therefore is it safe to assume that it did actually work? Would it state success even if the radio didn't flash?
I also tried my Vodafone sim in it afterwards and it worked fine - I've just gone from o2 to Vodafone, I've got the new Hermes, hence the reason for selling the Exec!
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....m=330044081484&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=014

Well, if the unlocker worked, and a non-locked sim worked, then it's unlocked right? Strange that you didn't need 0.00 first.
V

Yeah, just a bit - what exactly does the reflash do? And the program following it?

Hold everything one minute? Since when did O2 lock the Exec?
I have seen / used 4 execs so far, bought at varying times, and not one of them is sim locked?
the main benefit of the unlock tool I can see on the exec is to gain SuperCID but as I said, I have yet to see a sim locked O2 XDA Exec?

In which case, brilliant!!! Wish there was a sticky thread summarising this issue clearly, the only thread I found was 65 pages long and rather unclear as to the end solution!
Great news in that case! Thanks CrashOverride!

Sorry, I forgot to mention that myself, I've also got an O2 exec. I think there was a rumour that O2 locked some, but AFAIK the Exec was always unlocked to begin with!

All steps to solve 1% error FAILED

Hello ,
I have tryed all the recomended steps to avoid 1% error in RSU flashing procedure but still no success.
Let me tell you the story : after unsuccesful upgrade of radio part I have followed the recomadation foud in the forum but no one was available for me I supposed
1 I have flashed the ROM ( boostrap mode from SD ) with all new version from O2, AT&T, Qtek and T-mobile
2 after each flash procedure I have copyed on the SD the repair flash files ( autorun and RSUpgrade.sa.CAB ) which determine my device going in the RS upgrading procedure. Guess what? every single time was stoped in 1% status. I have tryed with or without sim card
3 I have erased the files from start-up and from windows folder that are linked to the application and I have copyed them again from an unpacked archive or from allready unpacked instalation kit. FAILURE
4 Battery is fully charged. I have tryed to flash with or without charging cable conected. NO DIFFERENCE.
Maybe there is a chance to flash it trough boostrap menu in the GSM ROM to SD submenu ? I just think that if is possible to back-up, somehow should be a way to put a SD card with the specific file on it and flash the radio part in the boostrap mode.
Is there anyone can help me?
thank you in advance
I am in the same boat and received an email from one of our XDAdevelopers a few days ago saying that he never tried to 'create' any GSM ROM and that he was not sure if it was possible to flash the GSM ROM through the SD method.
BTW, how did you actually manage to charge your battery? You mentioned in other thread that you used the 'external' batt connector to charge. Is this correct. THere are three tabs on the connector at the back of the device, could you please specify which tab for the positive/ negative/ ground plug?
Thanks...
the connector
Here is the connector and the connections for battery charge.
Also I think I have realise what we did wrong and why we are not able to fix the problem like the other from the forum did allready.
The problem is that when I got the 1% error first time, instead of following the steps described by the members in the forum ( I dint know at that time ) I have hard reset the device ( the small button in the right ) which determin perhaps erasure of an important part of XDA flash memory.
I will study the Jtag connections and the way it can be flashed trough that option and I let you know.
I will appreaciate if you wlil share with me any thread in the forum that might help us to fix it.
Also you can contact me over the ICQ with offline messages if you cannot see me online.
I saw you want to send your device to sombody knowing how to to fix it.
I let you know about I can or not and we can talk about your own.
Thanks,
Silviu C
Many thanks for the information.
I did not hard re-set when I had the failure for the first time. Here's what I did (I hope this would serve as a WARNING to other member NOT to make the same mistake as us):
1. I downloaded the new TMobile ROM4.01.00 suggested in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=4043
I knew that TMobile is for GSM900/1900, but noticed that some members said that it was okay since what we wanted to do is to flash the PDA / CE ROM not the GSM ROM part.
2. I installed the ROM sucessfully and everything was working fine. As I checked the device information after flashing I noticed that the ID has chacnged to 10B meaning 900/1900. So, I continued browsing and ended up in the Phone options and I noticed the phone band options showed 900 and 1900 (not 1800). Then I made a MISTAKE by leaving the 1900 option "checked" and accidentally clicked OK (clumsy hands).
THen the phone stopped working.
3. After soft resetting, the booting up procedure was still showing normal signs (i.e. all ROM, Radio Stack and Protocol versions were shown in the splash screen). But the phone still did not work.
4. Then another mistake I made was "reflashing" the Radio GSM ROM!!
Should I have gone to the bootloader and changed the GSM band from there, I might not have had this problem. As the RSUpgrade.exe was running , then the device got stuck in the 1% screen of death. But I was not panicking as I remembered that there were many sucessful stories about this problem in this forum. (I have playing in this forum since last Sept). So , I started checking the threads and then tried to repeat the procedures but without any luck.
Since then I had different other problem with flashing the device. At one point there was only the bootloader on the device (no splash screen etc.) But I managed to downgrade the bootloader to 5.15 (from 5.17).
Codectelecom: I will keep you updated with any findings both on and off lines. I added your ICQ into my contact.
TOday I talked to the distributor of the device in Bangkok, THailand and the same thing happened as yesterday (talking to the shop): they could not do anything and insisted that flashing the ROM can be done by the user. THey did not even give me a chance to "show" what the problem actually is.
MY ADVICE TO EVERYONE who wants to upgrade any ROMs. PLEASE READ this FORUM THOUROUGHLY and try to follow the discussions, always trust the xda developers guys: FLASHING ROM is DANGEROUS!!!!!
You have a good chance of turning your 'precious' HTC shiny PPCPE into a 'brick'.
codectelecom: Please kindly keep me updated with the JTAG. As you might have noticed, I am not a 'techie' with electronic stuff.
I agree with you that there must be some corrupted files in one of our devices' ROMs. One indication is that the device could sense wheteher power is plugged in. ALso the battery monitoring functions is not working.
SOrry, I missed one point:
After getting stuck in the 1% screen, then of course I pressed OK and then the radio stack and protocol versions were gone in the splash screen and when I checked the bootloader it showed GSM ERROR.
Andhy, thx so much for sharing this experience and hope we learned something from it. One question here that I hope one of the developers will answer: is there any way to hide the "Band" tap in phone settings ??
I have it now on my XDA since I replaced the main board with a TMO one that has tri-band feature, but my network is only 900/1800, and I don't want to go in such mistake (ticking the 1900 box).
Any ideas ???
Biso007: I have no answer to your questions re: hiding the band tab, and hope that our xda-developers or other experts would entertain us in this thread. I remember there are another one or two guys (other that codectelecom and me) in this forum who also have not been able to get out of the 1% screen of death.
THis forum has grown very rapidly, that it's becoming difficult to find 'good' informations quickly. So many new members keep posting the same question over and over again without atempting to "read" the forum thoroughly (you can tell this thing by the questions that they asked).
BTW, you mentioned about replacing the main board with a TMO one that has tri-band feature. Where did you do it and how much did it cost you?
I was thinking to 'replace' the GSM ROM or the phone part and already started looking in the PDA junk local market. Hoping to find a broken xda with a working phone part
As I said, even the importer here did not want to help. All I asked was to send the device to the factory or some service centre outside the country. I was willing to pay all charges, but they just did not want to help. ...some people....
andhy: I bought a used XDA from one of my good friends who got it from US. Its screen was broken, so I took its main board and it's pretty good. I 'm sure you can find 100s like this since this lovely device is soooooo fragile :x

UnLock ATT Siemens SX56 -Reward to help me unlock it- :)

HELP!!!
I've tried everything to unlock this unit I got on eBay and I'm not having any luck after 2 days of hacking.
What I've tried:
- Tried XDAunlock got a message "error getting unlock code"
- Installed the "Special Edition ROM v1.2" several times cause it just didn't work the first time. Front screen says it removes SIMlock, but NOT on my unit. Loads the auto config for USA -Tmobile, and reboots but returns the stinkin message "'SIM Lock' Please input unlock code SID:" -
-Tried XDAunlock again and still same message.
- Tried XDA2unlock, nothing
Here are the specs if someone can help:
ROM Version: 3.17.03 ENG
ROM datae: 05/15/03
Radio version: 6.25.02
Protocol version: 324e4
The unit is in Brand New condition so I hate to toss it away.
Thanks,
When you first boot the special edition rom do you have the sim inserted? If yes, try it without sim, if no, try it with sim.
UnLock ATT Siemens SX56 -
Booting up with and without a foriegn SIM yields the same SIM Lock message. Still searching for suggestions. (after two days of searching for a fix my eyes look like this  )
Still comes up "Please input unlock code SID:" I know its not the SIM chip as the SIM chip works without problems on another PPC.
My gut tells me its the phone part which is locked. If I can somehow replace this part of the ROM, I can get it to work, but I do not know how to cook a new phone rom and from what I've educated myself with on this site its states to keep away from the RSU? The PDA functions fine as a standalone unit but defeates the purpose of why I purchased an integrated system for my wife. Guess she will have to carry a seperate phone for a while this we figure this out. :x

Well I may have come onto something. I am going to try these steps tomorrow and let you all know. After 3 days of searching thru all the forums here, I came across this link on how to unlock this AT&T PPC. Wish me luck. Looks like I will owe LumpiStefan a reward if this works.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=13477
BTW, this web site was down for the longest period, anyone know what happened? Anyways, thanks for getting it back up.
Have you tried entering 0000 as the sid code??
UnLock ATT Siemens SX56 -
Yes, I tried 4 and 6 zeros. Nada.
Be it officially noted that I am giving up on trying to unlock this PDA and are putting a curse on ATT and will NEVER ever buy another product tied to that Communist Company. No wonder they don't exist anymore. Anyways, I'm reporting that all the good instructions in this forum to unlock this device have offically failed and the only thing left to try is the serial cable method. After 3 days of hacking, I'm giving up. I've ordered a serial cable and will await its arrival. If that works, I will let you all know. Otherwise its going up for auction with .01 starting bid., better yet, maybe I'll donate it to the sys op.

UnLock ATT Siemens SX56 -Reward to help me unlock it-
Well, I finally unlocked this pos after many many countless hours of trying different things. How I finally did it was to take a much deserved rest and then start from the beginning all over again. I started here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/wiki/UnlockWiz
Answer the wizard questions, and I was on my way to downloading and unlocking. After it was finished I had to change the bandwidth to 1900.
In summary:
Download and install the SpecialEditionROM
Answer the unlock question.
Change the GSM bandwidth network band.
I was in business.
This is a great forum! I will contribute by making donation and THANK YOU!! Merry Christmas to one and all.
This is not really going to help you, but if you have it, can you send me the AT&T theme from the SX56 ?? (PM me please )
I can help you to unlock it for sure!

No service on unlocked M500 with any SIM, please help

I have an orange M500 which I have unlocked with the xda tool. Everything was fine for a few days untill I noticed the M500 had a ! next to the aerial icon.
I tried an O2 SIM and that worked, switched back to the Orange SIM and still got a ! next to the aerial and a no service message.
Then i tried the O2 SIM again and now that is showing no service.
I have tried a hard reset and an Orange ROM upgrade but neither have worked.
Please help, I've run out of ideas.
Which of the three unlock tools did you use?
M
Maybe you have a stolen unit and its IMEI is blacklisted with the providers.
I used xda dev all unlock v1.6_138 on the phone. The phone worked fine before I used the tool. Then after using the xda dev tool the phone asked me for a code and whatever I entered didnt work
So I used the xda dev tool with PRUN and ran it as xda_dev_all_unlock-1.6_138.exe -q -f and the phone then worked.
I tried an O2 sim and that worked aswell. A couple of days later I noticed I had no service with my Orange sim, so I tried the O2 one and that worked.
Tried the orange one in another phone and it was OK, tried it in the M500 and it didnt work.
Now neither the Orange or the O2 sim work.
I have tried updating the rom with one from the Orange website and tried the xda dev tool again, with and without either Sim card, but its still not working.
Please Help
I have found that a vodafone sim card works in the phone. Does anyone understand why this works but an original orange one wont???

Try reconnecting the pocketPC to the phone whilst it is on and the symbol is showing up and then trying executing the PRUN program again.
I had a problem with my M600 where the security/network provider code did not work after running the PRUN program, but then I saw a post on one of the threads which said to try and run the program again whilst the phone was on and connected and when the device was asking for the code. Give it a shot, it might work.
ORANGE SPV M600 ::: modelM10B
I tried running the xda tool with prun when it was asking for a security code and it worked. The problem is a few days later the problems started. Now when I use an orange or o2 sim card that previously worked, I now get `no service`. I just don`t get it

XDAIIi Rom upgrade

Ive recently got my xda back after getting drunk and breaking the screen now i have it back in my hands (tightly) i want to use it with my vodafone sim card, If i upgrade to WM5 will that unlock my phone or will i still have go through the unlock procedure
Thanks
xdaIIi is called alpine and cant use xdaII roms (called himalaya)
i realised that after posting but i cant move the thread, i figured that it would be the same principal, upgrading the rom, does it unlock the phone.
not even expert on unlocking as i never had a locked phone but i believe
that unlocking is no related with rom updates
(unless ppl have an wallaby device and use the very old specal rom for it)
unlocking is a program run on the pc while the pda is connected or run on the device
what you are to do of those 2 options you should read in XDA-WIKI up in the menu so click there and find your device and see what it says
also flashing ones device with a new rom cant lock ones pda again as far as i know

O2 XDA EXEC wont except Vodafone after unlock?

Hello all, I got a O2 XDA EXEC in post today which I bought off Ebay for £30 which only ended up having a scratched screen! I have installed radio ROM 0.00.00 and then used Buzz's unlocker twice which said it unlocked but doesent take my Vodafone sim which is all I have at the moment. I then installed radio ROM 1.18 hopeing it will work but it dident!
So I decided to install Tomal's - v8.2: WM6.1 Pro havent had a good look at it yet but looks good!.
If anyone can tell me a way of getting this Vodafone sim to work that would be great!

Hi,
you have to remove the sim and switch the airplane mode OFF BEFORE the entire procedure. Remember to soft reset the device after running the Buzz unlock tool, so, these are the steps, flash the radio 0.00.0, soft reset, run the tool and wait the succesful message, soft reset and wait that it switch-on, NOW remove the battery, insert your sim and switch on again. In this way it must work, I've unlocked 3 universal with that tool.

Hello davideuck, That was the way I tried it but tried it 3 times again with no joy, The radio searches for a few seconds then comes up with no service. I am starting to wonder if this uni is going to receive any signal from any sim?? Like my M5000 before but that had no GSM which this one does have GSM.
Ok I have managed to get a new O2 sim card which I have put in the uni which does the same as the Vodafone sim... Nothing just has no service but does search for a signal every so often.
I have installed RADIO ROM 1.18 instead of the 0.00.00 and still does not receive a signal.
Im stuck now Is there any reason why this does this or is it never going to get a signal?
I have just phoned O2 to find out if my uni's blocked? not that they done any test but because I have tried 2 sims which work in other phones but not this one they say the problem is with the phone.
So looks like I have 2 useless uni's? Would I be able to repair the EXEC with parts from my M5000? ( M5000 had no GSM ) I have no idea what I would need to do but will try anything to get this working!
Would the O2 XDA EXEC original ROM sort this problem? This was already installed when I had it but dident work with Vodafone sim after unlocking.

I have installed the original O2 ROM which made no difference so went back to WM6.1.
I think there is something wrong internally?
