I have just flashed to Dutty's 3.9 ROM and restored all my contacts initially with sprite backup, it did not seem to identify my new sms's with the caller ID saved in the phone untill i go furthur into TF3D which takes a long time to load, anyone have an idea on how to fix this? I tried searrching but cant seem to come up with anything!
i have subsequently deleted the contacts and restored them from the myphone service, still no luck....
edit: update from myphone seems to have cured the problem for new messages
however my messages tab is very slow to load, when wanting to reply to a message, also anyone know how to get it to go to the original windows reply window rather than the one from TF3D?

I used to face a similar problem like yours, but I've used activesync instead, and all incoming text messages/calls aren't recognized. At the time I solved the problem simply by flashing the phone with another rom (I've tried several roms and I think my phone is quite picky, there are quite a lot of roms in which it can't identify incoming texts and calls).
I am also using the original windows window for texts and here's what i did:
* hide the manila sms tab
* replace the right softkey button on the home tab to direct it to the windows default sms window. This can be done through a registry editor:
1. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Manila in registry
2. If you don't have a String entry called LandscapeMenuRSKPath, add it.
3. Edit the value of LandscapeMenuRSKPath to read: \windows\tmail.exe
4. If you don't have a String entry called LandscapeMenuRSKText, add it.
5. Edit the LandscapeMenuRSKText value to read: SMS
6. If you don't have a string called LandscapeMenuRSKArguments, add it.
7. Edit the value of LandscapeMenuRSKArguments to read: -service "SMS"
That's it.

What ROM did you make the backup in Sprite from? Also, did you only backup your contacts with it? If not, did you do a level 1 merge when you restored it?

Firstly, I did a search and this issue was briefly touched on, but no resolve was given. I receive a new text message, I go into my inbox it says 0 items 1 new. This has been going on for a week. Now I have missed 11 text messages. My inbox and today screen say 0 items 11new. Any way to find these messages and to repair so this does not continue?
Thanks
Help I can't retrieve my text messages... now there is 13.
nerdgurl, kindly send a list of all 3rd party programs installed.
Here is the list:
Total Commander, Sygic Mobile Contacts, Pocket Max PhoneAlarm,
AE Button Plus, SetAsRingTone, ME PhonePlus, SPB PocketPlus, Sprite Backup.
It was working fine until last week, when I did a full restore, but I do have the newest Sprite Backup so there should have been no conflicts, but I don't know.
Is there any way to retreive them with another messaging software?
Thank you so much, I'm getting desperate
Are you going to the correct inbox? There are several inboxes: MMS, Outlook E-Mail, SMS...
Restoring backups screws up inboxes. Sprite's the closest thing to a proper backup app but still not perfect.
Yes, I'm going to the correct inbox, as for Sprite perhaps I am unable to save my old messages but I can't even receive new ones. If I knew how to do a screen capture, I would post a picture of this bizzare behavior.

Nah, I would suggest SPb Clone, lotsa issues with Sprite :>
Is there any remedy for this, to retrieve my older messages or to stop this from occuring with new incoming messages?

There is a tool to backup messages. I have not yet tried it myself. I'm just going to post a link to it since after install you need to put in a code at their website in order for software to be able to run. Hope it helps.
http://pdafresh.freeweb.hu/communications/sms/app_smsbackup.htm (Backs up only messages)
Developer site: http://www.zedsoft.net/smsbackup/
http://pdafresh.freeweb.hu/communications/sms/app_allexport.htm (Exports messages AND Outlook data)
UPDATE: Export function works fine. Restore will test after a HR. Backup worx.
Developer site: http://www.zedsoft.net/allexport/
Hope it worx 4 u
OH I messed it up good! It says Message Backup successfull (0 Messages), then I tried to restore the messages and it would state: Message restore successfull (0 Messages). What have I done?
Nerdgurl,
Your sms database seems to be corrupt. Use the attached tool to delete all mail/sms databases. Dont forget to backup since it destroys all SMS, mail & account info. I had a similar prob & resolved.
Cheers...
You can try the soft from Jeyo to see, if it can salvage your messages. But when all is said and done, you will HAVE to do a hard reset, to get things running again. With a bit of luck you can reinstall everything but the messages, otherwise a full reinstall is needed.
Also, you may wanna try visiting www.Sunnysoft.cz for Backup Manager. A very nice alternative to Sprite, which has way too many unsolved bugs. I fully agree with dmmh on that...
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this so move the topic if necessary.
A few weeks back I bought an X1(Branded Dutch T-Mobile Version) and I've been having problems with the receiving of SMS'. My Today screen indicates there are new messages, eg. SMS \ MMS: 1 unread. But when I check my messages there's nothing there. I tried to see if it may be a false positive, by having a friend send me a text message, but the number did increase, and the message box was still empty. I tried reseting the rom, which obviously killed the messages, but new messages are still not getting through.
Anybody else experiencing the same problem? Anybody know what is going on? How can I recover the (invisible) messags?
Thanks a bunch
that's weird. uh, really weird. it's either YOU have a bad rom/phone software so better have it checked OR your not looking in your SMS/MMS inbox but your outlook inbox instead.

i had the same prob, someone sent me a text and the phone froze, when i turned it on had that message. the only way i found to get rid of it was to delete the message coversation with the person.
i had the same problem, only a hard reset solves the problem. after the hardreset everythink worked fine. some other people at the german xperia board got the same problem.
I tried to hard-reset to no avail. Deleting previous conversations doesn't help. Even SMS' from unknown contacts stay hidden. When I try to export my messages using PIM Backup 2.8 It shows that I have 2 'Text Messages' folders in the export root. One with the hidden(unread) messages. And one with the visible ones. When I exported the messages and reimported them, they stayed hidden. When I wrote a program to parse the PIM Backup exported file. I could see that the hidden messages get properly exported.
Any ideas?
Hearing that the German based roms have troubles too, could it be a reg setting that is wrong, something with localization? I really hate that I have a Dutch rom.
i had this problem i simply hard reset it and it was gone...if this didnt work then try reflashing the orignal rom
I just ran into the same issue.
Funny is that I did hard reset on not flashed orginall Dutch T-mobile X1 which was working good. Well now it is not :/
Tip for others looking for a quick workaround: use uiggmo light panell to read them. The only way I found so far.
I am flashing mine today. (Before I will hand it over due to case issue).
Hey everyone,
I've got an issue with my Dutch T-Mobile X1, my SMS messages don't show up correctly. On the SE panel it shows that there are new messages, for example 2 new sms. But when I check the inbox there is nothing new.
I updated the phone yesterday through update service in the hope that it would fix it, beforehand it (the SE panel) would for example say that there 70(!) new messages. But I fear the update didn't fix anything.
Also, messenges that I've sent show up in my inbox? What's up with that?
If I knew a screenshot-maker I could post some screens to better illustrate the problem.
I have the same problem with my X1. The Home-Screen shows one unread sms-message but my sms inbox is completely empty, also the other sms folder are empty.
I have tried the following things:
- unistalled xperia tweak software
- soft reset
- restore sms/mms data from my spb backup file
- send me a new sms and tried to delete ALL
Also I have searched in the registry for a key to change, but I haven't found one.
Could anybody help me?

I used sprite backup on windows mobile 6.1 and then upgraded. I then restored all my messages and in the windows part of the messages all my messages are displayed in the correct order. However if i go to the contact and click the messages they have sent me, it is displayed in a completly random order :S.
Anyone had this problem? Any ideas how to fix it?
i have the same situation ;(
anyone can help?
Same thing happened to me - can't see how to fix it, and don't want to delete all messages.
Interestingly, if I use Jeyo to view a contact's Chat History, the messages are all shown in the correct order - so why can't WM 6.5 sort them in exactly the same way as 6.1 did?
Same thing here, instead of threaded / sorted by time, conversations are sorted alphabetically first all messages by "me" then all messages from contact (or visa versa if their name starts with a letter earlier then the M)
Can't find any settings yet where to change this.
I have a problem where any message that gets sent to me has a timestamp 1 hour in the future. So the order of my messages is incorrect.
I thought maybe this is related to Daylight Savings but I'm not sure.
The last 5 builds I have flashed seemed to have stopped working with sense conversation mode. Does any one know why??!
Basically, I backup everything on myphone, reinstate after flashing and i can see them in the sense tab. But when I go to open them in conversation mode nothing is there unless I switch to traditional.
I do find however that if I get a text from someone it appears and shows all their old texts....
Weird...any ideas>

They are working but in different mode. If you delete them all and then you start to keep new ones conversation mode will work.
They are aways issues after flashing and then restoring backed-up data! I don't advice you to do this in the future after flashing new ROM....if you want to make a hard reset then it will work without probs (most of the times)
hope that helps you
cheers
Hang on a minute, I've been flashing phones for about 6 years now and I've never had to delete all my texts and start from scratch.
What's the point in myphone otherwise?!
Also, I have flashed my HD2 about 18 times now (maybe more) and it's only the last 3 flashes that this happens in. If I revert to an official rom, or some of the earlier build's by chef's in here then all of my texts come back in conversation mode.
I was wondering if anyone knew why this happens in the newer builds? :-/
Anyone else? I can't believe I'm the only one - it's doing my nut in!

i noticed something similar, but i'm not using myphone.
the thing is the following: sense makes a new folder in the sms inbox named
"conversations" (i saw that because i backup my texts with pimbackup, at the
restore you can see this folder). when you restore this folder (and i don't know
if myphone does this; i stoped to use myphone because it doesn't sync the
content of sms folders inside the inbox (at least the builds i used, about 3
months ago), which is out of regard with manila because manila ignores subfolders
also) then the conversations are there from the beginning, allthough they are
not correctly linked to the contact. for that you have to "edit" the contact
one time, or add it to the people tab. after that all conversations for this
contact are back (which is also the reason for the manila lags, this is when
manila "reads" all the old sms's from this contact in the background, which
could be very slow if you have 5000+ sms as i do). another thing to get the
conversations back is to send or recieve just one sms, after that the sms
history is also back (for the corresponding contact)...
hope i could help you a bit with my findings!
regards,
markus
Thanks Markus, I noticed the same for point 2 as you said. It's strange though. It must be an update as part of the newer builds of manilla because I always used to be able to retrieve my conversations with MyPhone. I think they've done this as a cheeky way of getting around sms lag!
Shameful HTC, shameful!
