hi
just to make you aware if you own mda vario 4 standard british touch pro stylus will not fit your phone you will need sprint cdma touch pro stylus from america, i have debated with htc but they are adamant that its not sprint and wont listen to customer they tell you that they can get it from there supplier also t mobile do not supply them .
T-Mobile Germany supplies one, but it's a little bit tricky to find.
You will find it only when you search all accessories (Zubehör).
It's available for business customers.

Anybody,
Could someone let me know where i can buy an unlocked XDA from here in London. Also, can an XDA be used with any GPRS network? provided you have the correct software installed.
Thanks

thank you, i will have a look
i have recently (last month) bought 2 unlocked pdas from totalpda. the service etc is very good but be aware that the items are not new. they are refurbished models. my ones are fine, although you can tell they have been used. also you dont get the handsfree kit or the cd-rom that normally comes with it.
if you do get one from them, DO NOT do the OS upgrade suggested by o2 as this will greatly interfere with any other service providers settings. which is the problem i have now!
thank you kindly for that sound advice. it's definately made me think twice, especially the fact that they are not new.
Hi
Give these guys a call teleford telecom or something like that
01772 880880
gto mine from there about 3 weeks ago, £225 (32meg).
i think that the units are new, but come with charge cables instead of cradles.
get the impression that they have them in stock on a time to time basis.
worth a try though.
again thank you Mr R J Webb for the advice, i am so glad this XDA forum exits its a wealth of information. great idea by the developers. i will keep you posted on the results of my call to teleford telecom, thanks.
thank you, i called Preston Telecom (i think) they were very helpful, but as you said their stock has been deplenished. again they are not new but from the descrition they may as well be. thanks again for the advice.
Try ebay uk
Hi
I bought mine from ebay UK from a guy who has contract with upgrade with O2 but doesn't need the phone and it was new. I had to use the xda manipulator to unlock the phone for use with vodaphone which I am using. There are quite a few guys selling new xda sets for about £200 for the 32m version and £300 for the 64 mb version. I got mine for £290(in April 03) but it should be worth less now (maybe £250 to £300). You do not need to pay exorbitant price for a new one and you got to make sure the guy selling the phone is not a cheat. So far all my purchases with ebay UK is quite safe and you could use a escrow service (intermediate service for a small fee which holds your money until the goods is delivered in good order before paying the seller) for added precaution. There is also a company in ebay UK selling the new 64mb xda for £149 (previously £199 only 3/4weeks ago) with a contract with O2.
thanks for the advice i am familiar with ebay, its an ok market place, but tend to be secondhand. i think i am going to go for the option buying a new one with O2 and unlocking it myself, thanks anyway.
I know this forum is for XDA, but here in the US at least for a couple months the 6315 is a darn good upgrade over the XDA I that I have. Biggest reason of all ..... it is QUAD BAND!!!!
It is also cheaper and a heck of lot easier to obtain for unfortunate souls that live in the US. We are like a third world country here with the PDA Phone choices compared to Europe/Asia.
I cannot understate the importance of 850Mhz for people under ATT since ATT betrayed everybody it sold SX56's to by actively dismantling its 1900mhz network and rolling out the 850mhz network instead.
Anybody that says I am crazy has not lived in Las Vegas. My house went from 1 bar dropping calls to roaming on Cingular. Many places around Las Vegas that used to be ATT 3 or 4 bars on 1900mhz is now gone.
HOWEVER, when I take a Nokia 3590 that I bought which has the 850mhz support...... golly gee I get service again at home and everywhere else.
So all the new XDA II AND III devices dont mean anything to me but torture with their advanced features and no 850mhz support.
So until I can get my hands on a XDA IIs or IIi which does have it, I have to settle for a 6315. (It is settle too, the difference between the 185mhz and 400 mhz processor etc).
I have been looking around for 3 solid weeks everywhere about unlocking the 6315 and there really has been nothing conclusive or solid. The one report that I did hear about said a reset would require the unlock code again.
The 6315 can be a stepping stone for a lot us on the road to a XDA IIi or IIs or even the HTC Harrier under Verizon.
I don't think I am alone here in the US with the desire to get a fully unlocked 6315 and have it supported a little bit by XDA Developers.
Please consider it as a band aid for those of us suffering in the US
The XDA III or blue angel DOES HAVE 850Mhz support. Also the new compact version.
No the XDA II does not but all the new models coming out do support quad band.
You need to go read the specs again!
The 6315 is a great device and yes needs its own home but this is the XDA developers site for XDA devices.
You can buy unlocked 6315 devices but not in the US. You have to order them online (very easy) and you can have a Fully unlocked 6365 in 2 days which is supported by HP and has a worldwide HP warranty. The nice thing that it is WITHOUT all the tmobile add in software they put into the 6365. I have one and it is GREAT!
XDA III Blue Angel and HP 6365
Can you post some links to the Blue Angel specs you have? The Blue Angel specs I have seen all indicate it is a Tri-Band device that does not support the 850Mhz. Also the HP6365 is not really an option for us. Its 20% more expensive, not even taking into account shipping and customs.
I understand that this for XDA's, and I love XDA's, but right now there is no XDA model that works for people like me in the US.
If not a forum for the 6315, at least a serious discussion on unlocking it.
P.S - If you can rip out the BT stack from it, even though its not XDA, mabe you can support it a little bit like unlocking it
Older posts had the blue angel as tri band. All the latest posts and offical announcements show them as quad band. (O2, Imate etc.)
Take a look....specs are all over the place.

As for the 6365 yes it will be $150 more than going to your local store and buying a tmobile 6315. Question you have to ask yourself is do you want it or not?
XDA III, IIs, and IIi
I appreciate your comments about 6315, but its a lot of money to get oversees. Not just 150$ dollars more.
Also, your 2 posts are not Blue Angel devices. The first post is the IIi and IIs which are modeled after the MDA III (Blue Angel) but are different.
The second post is the MDA III compact.
I have been looking long and hard after your comment and still cannot find any articles or postings that claim the Blue Angel is a quad-band.
The "BLUE ANGEL" is a develop code for the line that HTC makes. I think you are getting confused over different brands, colours and model numbers. HTC makes models like the XDAII, Imate, QTech they are all exactly the same insides but may have minor cosmetic outsides and maybe some carrier software.
HERE YOU GO BLUE ANGEL SPECS
http://www.phonearena.com/htmls/details.php?id=932
IT IS 850Mhz. You might want to do a google search.
As for ordering overseas it is exactly 749.00 US$ + shipping to North America by UPS express service (2 days) is $59.00 (cheaper for surface service) So the total to get you an unlocked 6365 is $809.00 or $779.00 and can be a bit cheaper a few other places.
You won't pay state tax on the 6365. A 6315 is from tmobile with no plan is $599 + your state tax ... means the UNLOCKED is $150 more. For me it is worth it to buy it for $150 more to have it now and enjoy it.
It all depends on if you want it or not. There does not seem the motivation for anyone to unlock it. If it is even possible. I feel for you but I wouldn't buy a locked one till I saw there was a CLEAR way to unlock it.
Hi all, I've been here since I had my Himalya, now with my Blue Angel. This has been a great site for all sorts of reasons. I've been dipping between the Porient H9 and the Athena, and well this place has won the Athena over for me.
My question just now is who would be the best Telecom service to get a contract with on the Athena in the UK? I know T-Mobile have the web and walk package, but their reception isn't really reliable where I am. And I can't find the phone easily on O2, Vodafone, Orange or 3 (pah!).
Thanks in advance for any and all help here.

the only provider that does the phone is tmobile. (Ameo)
if you want to use another provider then buy the HTC Advantage x7500 varient (expansys are good) or get an ameo from ebay and unlock it.
I got mine (Unlocked HTC) from expansys on an O2 contract. (saving nearly 300 pound - 320 including postage)
I found them very helpful and informative, and would highly recommend them.
without a decent unlimited HSDPA or 3g connection i wouldnt bother.
Get Tmobile webnwalk and your set.
i went for the htc advantage on expansys as the ameo colour didnt do it for me especially the keyboard, also seen pictures with scratces on the devices.
I can't find to understand why (here in Sweden) all the phone stores have such poor HTC Accessorie section. I go too Phonehouse wich is the biggest phone seller in Sweden and they dont even have a Handsfree for a HTC even thou they sell HTC phone such as Diamond, Touch Pro, Touch HD and so on. When I asked for a handsfree they had 1, and I wanted on with 3,5mm adapter and they recommended me to go online to HTC.com.
When i go online to webhallen.com wich is one of Stockholms largest online/store shop for electronics they have about 3 handsfree one crap one, one copy and a htc orginal music adapter handsfree!
When i then go for my next search, TV out cable i start looking on the net and (im not amazed) I find 2 online shops in all Sweden that has the cable (2!!) Ok, Sweden isnt a big country but comm'on . I can find tv out cables for LG Viewty and all other phones out there but not for HTC, INCREDIBLE!
Is this the same all around the world or is it just Sweden.
And dont get me started on screen protectors, thank god for Ebay.
It's just sweden.
Great...well, since my post was already taken (above) I'll go the serious route...
att stores here have poo poo cases, no screen protectors, no handsfree nuttin', no memory cards...and you know who I think I left something out...
Hows about Expansys?
http://www.expansys.se/
Expansys is very expensive comparatively. How about ebay?
Yes, I use ebay like I said. But I dont understand why the IRL stores dont sell HTC accesories.

USD240 is absolutely fake.
here brand new HD in China is around 527USD. just for reference.
JohnQ is right, I bought mine for around $550 US in Shenzhen about a week ago, $240 is probably either used or a "shanzhai" phone (aka rip off look-a-like).
A note however, do look closely at what you are buying as there aren't any "official" HTC retailers here in China-- where HTC operates under it's Chinese subsidary, "Dopod". Most of the HTC phones in China are brought across the border either from Hong Kong or Taiwan.
I had the store clerk bring me five Touch HDs to try and I picked the best one and haggled with them until they threw in an extra battery.
If you'd rather be sure to get the real thing, I recommend you get it from Hong Kong; it's pretty cheap there too. In China, Dopod also has an identical device also called the Touch HD, however, the difference-- like between all Dopod phones and HTC phones-- is that the Dopod versions don't include Wifi and 3G. Gov't restrictions maybe? :S

HAHA , DOPOD announced HD early this year. you know how much they are selling in the beginning? RMB8288, As exactly the same with its model number T8288, DOPOD is crazy. DOPOD HD doesn't include WIFI/3G
Can get it with 3G and Wifi in China
It is possible to get the Touch HD in here in China with 3G and Wifi....If you buy a Dopod branded phone, it won't have either, but if you go to a mobile store and ask for "shui huo" you can get them. The "shui huo" versions of the phones are usually brought in from Europe then brought across the border (tax free). Don't let the sales staff trick you into paying more for them. These phones are cheaper than the Dopod branded ones and they are exactly the same phone (with more features enabled). As mentioned above, you also have to be aware of fakes, but if you take your time and check out multiple vendors, you should be ok....Always ask to try the phone before you buy it (ALWAYS).
Additionally, it will be extremely difficult to find one with a WWE rom. I usually come on here and flash a WWE rom as soon as I get my phone...Never had a problem...
China has some great deals and some great rip-offs...Just exercise some caution and you should be fine. Test the phone and make sure the Wifi and 3G options work and you should be fine.
newer high-end mobile phones are ALWAYS cheaper in the US/EU than in china. IN fact, everything that is "name brand" or high-end is more expensive in China. THe idea that China is cheaper than the west is just totally wrong these days, when I go back to the USA I stock up on clothes, electronics, etc. as the quality is certain, there are no spy programs or disabled features, and the price is much lower. If you want to buy cheap garbage, it will be cheaper in China, but for anything nice it is MUCH more expensive.

That's not necessarily true...
HTC is a Taiwanese company and they export their products to places all over the world. One of them is Hong Kong, and as we all know, there are no taxes, customs, tariffs, or whatever on imported products there. Thus, electronics are generally cheaper in Hong Kong than they are elsewhere. Also, due to the proximity of Hong Kong and Taiwan, shipping is also cheaper than to the Americas for example, thus further reducing the end-user cost (however this may just be a little bit). Therefore, many of the "shui huo" HTC products brought into China from places like Hong Kong actually end up being cheaper (even more if you haggle and perhaps they'll throw in some goodies too!) than they are elsewhere.
Hope that sheds some light upon this issue.
So now now... don't go around making imperatives like "everything" all the time... hehe
This thread is really helpin me out.
Anyone can point me where to get the best price in Hongkong. I'm particularly looking for HTC Touch Pro CDMA.

You could try Mong Kok/Wang Jiao Computer Centre; you can get some great deals if you haggle...
Check it out. It's near the Ladie's/Women's Market.
