Anyone have any temperature issues with their phones? Mine gets really hot when using any video aps.
same here, but i'm not concerned... using the video, long phone calls, GPS and/or wifi will generate some heat. now, mine is not generating enough heat so it's hot to the touch; it's noticeably warmer, though...
yeah i got the same problem,...
specialy when u do something to make the phone work his a** off ( if u know what i mean )
Strange, I have never know my HD get hot. I know it will get warmer when using WIFI etc but compared to my Diamond which used to burn my hands this is cool.
lol the Diamond was not that hot man ! They are hot just because the chipset is at the bottom and there are no fan, unlike a computer
Agree,
just don't hold you're hand to long at the bottom of your phone, and it will be a little cooler
warm is normal... its the cpu
hot is not normal... so you dont mean hot right
When I first got my HD, it used to get warm, but after I started flashing roms regularly, there has been a significant change and it now gets alot 'warmer'... small price to pay though
I wouldn't say it gets 'hot' though.
My side if I use radio 1.14 or radio 1.12 my Touch HD drain my battery and get very hot.... I put Radio 1.13 and battery get second life and the température is normal now...
Just my 2 cents

when i listen music for about 30 mins + and running some programs such as adobe reader or opera, i can feel a warm in my hands from the battery. actually its more like to be said a relatively high heat felt by my hands !?
is this high battery heat normal? i mean for an everyday usage.
tnx in advance
Note: i did search but didnt find anything about LEO battery heating.
The battery can sometimes get quite warm, but it should never be hot. If it heats up to much you should probably get it looked at.
The battery in the HD was a lot worse than this. I think there may have been some issues, but HTC have worked on it. Thankfully, I don't know of any HTC phones exploding anywhere yet! lol
mine gets hot as well some times especially when I use igo in my car and charge the phone at the same time but also when playing a game etc.. but I read in the manual that this is normal... although I believe heat to an extent that can burn your hand its not normal.... mine never got that hold
just my 2 cents

Hello,
If you are using something like Opera, coupled with a number of applications that are cpu intensive, then you are going to get high battery drain which equals high heat output. Some of the heat will be coming off the cpu as well but the end result is the same.
The problem is worse if you are using wifi and/or gprs and you are in a low signal area, which means that the device and the battery need to work even harder to serve your needs.
If this happens again then check your location relative to wifi and gprs and/or reduce the number of intensive applications you have running at the same time.
If this fails then you may have a fault; however I think one or all of the factors mentioned above are linked to your issue.

ok tnx for replay guys...i accept this as normal situation, and yes i definety like to use igo8...and really its soo nice to have pda such LEO that can easily open and run several such programs!
Is anyone else ending up with a very warm device after a little heavy usage? I've not had the phone many days to determine if this is the way the phone is in general, so if this is the way the HD2 is, just tell me lol.
Noticed that also wenn downloading lots of apps from market with wifi on. The backside is getting pretty warm then. But it cools down as soon as you finished your stuff and do usual things like texting or something. Thats my experience.
Its funny people bring up phones getting Hot. Cause We got a Gig processor, and 576mb ram. If you feel like ur phones getting hot, you know ITs a BEAST. also keeps ur pocket warm in winter.
Yes! Comparing with WM 6.5, when running WM 7 phone is getting warm even just scrolling in menu for a while. Battery usage is HUGE! 10 minutes playing game (Jewels) consumpted a half of fully charged battery. Battery life worse then android have.
Yep defo gets hot, when screen is off its fine but when in use it gradually warms up
This is usually the sign of high battery drainage
i used to get it in android
Am I right in saying that magldr could have something to do with the battery drain? Been reading some comments that suggest its possible

you are right, but this only happened to me when i installed andoird via nand way, i don't have any problems with wm7 on my htc hd2 tmobile leo 1024.
i'm happy
my HD2 gets hot when android runs ... WP7 is no load at current bulid
Must agree, my one got realy warm after me sitting 20 min on the train sorting/linking contacts. got more warm that it should.
It just seems like a gradual warming on mine, it can get quite warm though, it happens even if I leave the screen on while magldr boot options are on and nothing else, I think my problem is that, and I'm looking forward to a update
nah just when i'm charging.
EDIT: I did notice bottom of my HD2 getting warm now that you mentioned it. But nothing toworry.

Yea that's your processor, and it is something to worry about, if you care about your phone.
is it possible related to sdcard?
if I use sdcard class 2 or class 6 will it got any different?
Ya mine too becomes ho....if i use internet...otherwise it stays cool...
God knows ...its harming the processor or its just usual thing.
M-SD Class 10 better
Try to M-SD Class 10
It's work well.
When i used to run WP7 and 7.8 the most heat generated was from 3g/2g mobile internet. That thing just fried the HD2's bottom, i couldn't chat on whatsapp more than 5 minutes before the phone's bottom got too warm to even hold. I figured its the combo of SD-card usage, mobile internet (a bit less heat when on WiFi) and screen-on effect that strained cpu and other phone parts to its limits. Eventually moved away from WP (sadly) due to lack of certain things i needed, but i remember that was something that really bothered me alot (aside from no wifi on standby).

"During our testing and just playing with the Galaxy S II, the phone seemed to get inordinately hot, much hotter than I remember any other smartphone getting."
Has anyone else got any hands on with the SII to back that up? I'm really liking the specs right now but I'm worried about that heat comment. The heat was the biggest issue for me with the original HTC desire along with the battery life. Playing games or even just browsing for an extended period would get the back of the device hot enough that it was uncomfortable holding it. If it's the same with this device that would kill it for me.

Wait for reviews of the released product.
The SGS2 Anandtech tested in Barcelona could be a prototype or preproduction
version.
Also remember it probably was being held by hundreds of people running benchmarks back to back to back.
my desire gets warm after 10-15 minutes of browsing with wifi... i never had a problem with it...

Where I live it's mostly cold here, and therefore I would like to consider it as a feature
Can´t be worse than HTC HD 2 .............
Hi!
When I using My shift (win7 home premium) it gets very hot! Is this normal? It don't turn off because the heat but I worried about this high temp. A guy who reviewed (saw on a portal) the shift says his model was not even warm.

The reviewer was fibbing. My Shift gets very warm too after a while.
The heat is related to how much CPU you are using, so if you run any CPU intensive virus checker or background utility, that will cause extra heat. It's easy to check, just hit ctrl+alt+del and watch your performance meter. My Windows 7 running Outlook 2010 and Opera averages around 10% when I am not doing anything in this instance. Note the average will vary as the OS has to do things from time to time.
I opened up my shift, examined and i think it have a terrible thermal design! What is the use of the cooler?? There are no heatsinks just a big cover which collects all the heat. I think about some case modding to provide better cooling, or making that cover form copper and place a small fan to it.
Hi, its normal. But i would like to see better cooler in it. When I am laying on bed and and ventilator holes are closed shift often go shut down due to high temperatures. One way was undervolting cpu a gpu, which mean a little lower temperatures . But some line cooler or heatpipe will be better
normal?
I don't think thats normal. Had mine about 4 months. The 2nd month all of a sudden getting hot. Stopped by a sprint store then took it in back and did something not sure what unfortunately. Cool now. Barely warm after running bluetooth and winamp etc for 5 hours straight. I'm guessing it's whats running in the background.
well, it appears to be one of HTC weak points, even my wildfire has the same problem) best thing to do right novels put your shift somewhere there is enough ventilation:
Just got myself a Nexus 7 with 3G and Wifi about 3 weeks ago. Overall this is a great tablet and I love it. But playing games on this device will make it heats up quite abit on the back left bottom corner. I knw that every devices nowadays will heat up when playing games, surfing the web or even using mobile data.
And I was wondering, do any of you guys still play games on it when the device gets warm or in between warm or hot? I feel a lil disappointed because the Nexus 7's gaming experience and performance was good but the only downside is it gets warm in about 15 mins and and gets warmer at 30 mins of playing games ( high end games like Dead Trigger etc. ). And it's a pity that I cannot enjoy longer hours of gaming on this device ( which is 1 of the reasons I bought it ).
And also I wanted to ask, can anyone pls tell me how warm or hot is your device when playing games? What I mean was let's say I was playing a high end game and the temperature of the tablet is around 50 c. To me, I might feel that it's a little too hot but to others, they might feel that it's jus warm. Would greatly appreciate all of your answers and advises.
Thank you.
Well, to love something also means to accept it for what it is... So, show it some love... lol! Jokes aside...
It's perfectly normal for a device to heat up when it has to be at a higher clock speed to crunch high levels of data.
This happens to pc's all the time, we dont feel it cuz all the hardware is in a case being cooled by fans. Laptops too, try gaming with a macbook pro on your lap, i swear hard boiled eggs could come out by the end of it. lol! An ipad or even much inferior in performance tablets to the n7 do heat up. Nevertheless things are improving, nowadays processors are getting more power efficient which translates to less heat for the amout of processing power they have, which is much much more compared to the past. Mayb in the future we'll have something with the processing power of a mainframe but as cold as the n7 currently is, then mayb it can be downclocked and downvolted to levels where its as cold as a can of coke while retaining reasonable performance, but it wont happen today...
Yea, the n7 does get warm but if it really bothers you it can be solved if you use a thick sturdy case with it... I use it for that reason, also it seems to prevent screen lift in my case, not to mention protection against accidents =>
50°C isn't very hot, mine gets that hot during normal usage and it can go much higher.

LoL! Anyway, thank you so much for the reply and explaining. I'd never knew that the ipad would heat up too haha. Do you think I should underclock my device? Well, been trying to use a case but on the opposite side am afraid that the case would trap heat inside the device itself. But Im using it anyway lol... And I have to agree with you cases really do help alot in protection against accidents.

I see. Mine would be about 45-50 c during daily use and gaming. But 1 thing I do notice is that the device is actually not warm at all when I stream and watch videos using the youtube app. Anyway, thanks!.
