I just bought a htc touch hd, it s in french, and would like it in us.
What are the steps ? it seems complicated !
I already made an update via the htc site (to get 1.56 version), but all what is proposed is french :-((

Quite a few are interested in getting a ROM in French, but according to XDA-DEVELOPERS it's not for today, not even for tomorrow. Let's wait until Bouygues Telecom releases a French version of WM 2003... But then you won't get all the goodies you can cook which have to go along only with an English ROM !
I am quite happy with a ROM cooked in Jeff's kitchen (thanks and praise to him) 4.00.11 ENG working very well with radio version 4.16.00 on O2 Asia 64MB.
From friends' experience this ROM is doing equally well on SX 56 and T-Mobile with original radio versions. From my own experience, hangups and slow operation encountered by some are due to newly installed programs which need a hard reset after installation.

Then what do one needs French for ? :? Only a matter of habit, after a few weeks you operate automatically and do not even realize it's in English...

i know this may be a stupid question but im new here... for the MDA II the german rom update ...if i were to load that on to my MDA would that change the language to german...?
yep same thing if you put on a rom which was chineese
not that the language would turn german if the rom was from china but you get the picture

I am going to receive a HTC Touch Cruise with WM Pro 6.0 in dutch. I would like to change its language to english or french. I plan on upgrading the OS to WM Pro 6.1 (via HTC website). Does anyone know if this will allow me to change the language of the phone?

Not sure, but i guess you can download the WM6.1 WWE rom from the forums (here) and flash that one to your device and you will have english language

I suppose WM6.1 WWE can be installed on any existing ROM OS ?
Never installed the original HTC rom in a different language.
Installed different cooked roms without any problem. I recon there is no problem with a original though I can't imagine someone want to use a original .
afaik you can install any rom - it's refalashing, so it doesn't really matter what rom u had
just download and instal rom u like

So its my first post ever on this forum but i come almost evryday to see updates and roms.
So i have a HTC Vogue from bell mobility and i try a lot of time to put it in french. i try to use french rom from cruise, elf, elvin etc and i change all the lang (0409 to 040C wich is french langs files) files and registery key and i never get it to work (Stuck on bootscreen) ... so i woder if one of u guys can hel me out with all this... or if someone know a french rom for the htc vogue even only the SYS files and langs

Go to htcpedia and try to flash this ROM: "Official ROM HTC 1.65.405.1 WWE for HTC Click" (you need to register first)...hopefully this has Chinese as language, also...
