This is actually related more to windows than Diamond. Open Settings, then System and Power. Last tab is Wi-Fi. Uncheck "Enable Wi-Fi power-saving mode", comfirm settings and that's it.

Not on my diamond its not lol
In settings i have to go to all settings, system then power. but when in power the last tab isnt wifi, its Advanced.
In advanced all thats there is settings for the backlight and to turn the device off if not used for X time.

Anyone got an answer to this?
The first 2 responses make no sense to a newbie like me so if anyone can explain it would be appreciated.
Cheers,
John.

Download and copy this .cab file to your diamond, and install it on your phone.
http://www.touchxperience.com/en/advanced-configuration-tool/downloads.html
After install, run the Advanced Config Tool.
Go to Menu -> More Settings -> Connections and Enable Wifi on stanby mode.
I think that will work

thanks
this does the trick

thanks mate!

i know its a little late but there is a way to fix this with out using Advanced Config Tool,
open the Comm Manager (settings->connections) and in the Comm manager enable your Wi-Fi, then in the bottem right hit Settings->Wireless LAN->Power Mode and slide the slider over to Best Performance, now when the screen goes it from what i can tell it still turns the Wi-Fi off to save power but when u turn the screen back on it reenables the Wi-Fi and trys to connect to the last network it was on, i maybe wrong on it turning it off tho

How to create a shortcut to activate wifi

Hi there,
I would know if someone know how to create a shortcut for toggle wifi (activate and desactivate)
Thanks
I've read several threads/posts in these forums and it seems no-one has been able to come up with a way to do it. At the moment, ONLY the comm manager can turn wifi on/off.
pocketAlarm, has a today plugin which toggles wifi from a press of a single button on the Today screen, with some of its newest skins.
However, the feature does not work on all devices, but the list is expanding, so you might want to check it out.
Cheers.
Whats wrong with just clicking on the gprs icon and then turn on wifi ?

That still translate to four taps, not just one.
1. Click GPRS
2. Click Comm Manager
3. Click on WIFI toggle
4. Close Comm Manager (optional)

In my T-Mobile 2.24 Extended Rom there are 2 executables, one to turn Wifi on and one turn Wifi off.
I will look them up for you tomorrow, I will post them in this thread.
Well molski can you upload the two executables please !!!
I will look if is work on my wizard
Here you go Kheops.
I tried both files and they both work perfect on my Wizard.
Thanks a lot mister Molski
have you a toggler?
Damn, those apps do nothing on mine (8125 w/Molski 2.26 ROM).
Sigh.

but there is still a problem that you must turn WIFI on for the first time after reboot, or no link will work, right? that was a problem on 2.3 i know, but the new os maybe got that fixed...

check out vijay's app
Vijay555 has an app called VJVolubilis.exe which does pretty much what your looking for, as well as toggling bluetooth, etc. It has a wifi toggle feature, but unfortunatly doesn't seem to work on Wizards. However, the "wifi on" and "wifi off" work fine. Some people have reported not being able to use the "wifi on" feature after a soft reset until they manually turned on their wifi at least once. This can be fixed with a registry tweak that I'm too lazy to look up right now, however I found it previously on this forum with a search. If I have time I'll look it up and post in the morning (almost bedtime here in the U.S. Eastern Time Zone). The trick to this app is to create a shortcut with command line parameters to either turn on or turn off. I use claunch on my today screen where I have a wifi on, wifi off, blutooth toggle, and "make bluetooth discoverable" icons. These are on my "wireless" tab in claunch. Totally rocks.
Easy with SKSchema
SKSchema comes with a wifitoggle program. Of course it only works if you have skschema installed.
I couldn;t find one that worked the way I wanted, so I ended up using PhoneAlarm.

Disable GSM!!!!

My old device was htc wizard. There was an option to disable gsm (phone) only. Is there any way to do this in g1? I just want to avoid calls and in the same time to use wifi. Airplane mode doesn't work for me, because it disables wifi too

Not quite the way you are accustomed to it, but there is a 'way' around it... you basically leave the phone on but you can turn on call forwarding... settings > call settings > call forwarding > always.
It doesn't turn the phone off but it won't ring either.

i was wondering the same thing, there might come out with a fix for this in the next update.
demontefixo, i was using the same solution, but I hoped for real solution to disable GSM. Anyway I will just wait
PS: This device is amazing I'm so happy with it. I wasn't using windows on my computer and laptop, and now i am completely MS free
Install anycut and Create a Software to Hidden Application named Phone Info, their you can see the Phone or Radio disable type of option. I have Tried it
It can actuall disable Radio and keep the Wifi on, But i could not renable radio and must have to reboot the phone.
Through the same Phone Info shortcut you can enable it to use WCDMA only or just prefer WCDMA or use GSM only. I think that is what mony87 was looking for.
Or you can go to:
Settings
Mobile networks
Operator selection
If you only see T-Mobile then Search Networks.
Select a non subscribed Network like ATT
It will tell you you your SIM card does not allow a connection...
But if you don't re-select TMobile the Phone Connection will turn off.
To get your Phone Connection back, just select TMobile

I thought I had the same issue but you actually can re-enable the radio after you turn it off...it just takes a while...
Bring up the dialer, type in: *#*#INFO#*#*. Shouldn't need to hit enter. Scroll all the way down, and hit "Turn off radio".

In ice cream sandwich there was a option to dissable WiFi after the screen goes of. How is it works in jelly bean ?
I can't find nothing regarding this only airplane mode. Is that it?
Thanks
In the Wifi setting where you can see all the access points in the area. Hit the menu button on the top right and select Advanced.
You will see an option called "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep", set that to Always.
