Hello all
I've so very green when it comes to changing themes. I can't stand the Vodafone white and red theme on my Touch pro 2. I've been looking at this device for a long time and really like the original black theme and was so disappointed when Vodafone had messed around with it.
Plus you can't read the black writing over the dark red back group.
I'd like to change my theme but reading some of these threads it's seems really hard.... Is it? As I said, i'm really new to windows mobile and cab files and so on. Is there a simple way to download a cab file to put on the original theme?
I've tried to read previous threads with people trying to help others with this and it just confused me. Please feel free to talk as though I was a child... in simple little word chunks of telly tubby english... lol... i really need it.

i have looked every where for a a simple but effective today plugin but just cant find what i want. is there anybody here who would make one for me for a donation or show me how to do it myself.....
i have a toshiba 701 with 320x240 non touch screen.
just need:
date / time / network on one line,
then 3 lines of calender,
then last three emails received,
then last text received
with a black background to save battery.
any takers....???
have u looked at batterystatus? it will do everything u want u just need to look into that.
Thank you, just had a look but it has far too many other things. i dont want to see the screen covered in icons - just need my data...
install the default skin and u will see it doesn't have to cover ur screen http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=270751 check out this link and u will see it can be one line or more.

Many battery status themes are simple, already created, and easy to try. Take a look at my space saver one on post#666 of the BS Theme thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=350510
Also, there are many more nice ready to go themes there! good luck
they are all with touch screens. i have a non touch screen...
there is a perfect one in thread 654 but it looks touch screen and also where do i get it?
NOTE -DOLLARS AVAILABLE TO ANY DEVELOPER FOR THIS PROJECT
I am looking for a developer to write a small utility that will remove the black lines on a Today screen that surround/delineate each Today item. The attached picture should help people to understand what I mean (see where the RED arrows are pointing).
The end result should be that any item seen on the Today screen will not have these black lines, leading to a clean, seamless look.
I was certain there was a registry hack for this; however after 2 months of fruitless searching on here and requests in other threads I have not found what I am looking for.
So what's different this time? Well, I will now pay someone to create a utility programme to achieve what I am looking for.
Interested and able to help? Please PM me.
Many thanks
WB
There's already an application which removes them... I ... crap, can't remember what it is. i'll search for it and let you know unless someone beats me to to it.
Nir,
Thanks. look forward to seeing what you can find.
WB
same as my problème?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=422825
thanks advance
It's the utility to change the colors of the today screen, I can't remember either.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=343335
i believe this is it.
hi this tool is awesome I didn't knew it, thanks for sharing
But it is not the tool asked, it is only to change the theme and the entire color of your phone
You could use Ultimate Launch. It doesn't display the lines between plugins.
It offers a few other perks too
All,
Many thanks for the various responses. I have used UI Tweaker several times to try to achieve what I want and while you can change the colour of the lines you can't entirely get rid of them.
As for Ultimate Launch, have also used that as an alternative UI but I don't like it I'm afraid.
The request is therefore still open for a developer to take me up on it unless someone comes up with an existing solution that does the job as I set out.
Appreciate the help so far.
WB
+1, I would be happy too if there is way to delete those lines
maybe i was wrong about UI Tweaker then.. because i KNOW there's an app to remove the lines.. i used one. i'll search again.
Nir 36,
Thanks in advance for looking. Hope you find the item. This has been a very long quest for me.

LOL you.. here? wahou
UI tweaker I try to but not work
yeh
I'm everywhere too ...
Still no idea guys... ?
Yeah. I originally asked here about this on XDA-Dev's about 3 or 4 years ago. The only response that I really received was that the lines are coded in to the shell32.exe or possible gwei.exe [sic]. I know that Wisbar Advance Desktop and a few other programs will remove the lines. However, those programs have a lot of other functions that some people may not want.
Here's my original post from '05.

I can't believe you made your request so long ago and are still waiting for a solution.
I agree with you that all that is required is a small utility to achieve this. Just looking for a talented developer on here to take this on. I am absolutely serious about paying someone to do this so its worth their while.
There are a fair few people who want this so its over to you guys, unless Nir36 finds the tool he says he knows of.
Thanks
WB
I'm sorry, i can't find it. I searched everywhere... so it's one of 2 things.
either i'm senile and i used UI Tweaker, or it's just... gone.
if i manage to find it sometime i'll post it.
I would be willing to give some $ to, If some one would like to make a app, for this.
Thanks T M Z
apparntly i got theme to be "transparent" because my background was black
You can achieve this, if you don't change theme too often and if your theme (TSK) file isn't with draws, with a tool like UI Tweaker from Victor Wong (http://mobile-sg.com), with the excellent ThemeGenCE (PC tools to modify the TSK file or with SKTools (in color tweaks)
Put the 'Today Screen horizontal Bar' at a very close color of your theme... The bars will be 'erased' (you won't see them...)
Hope this helps...
[Theme cancelled]

How is it going.
Hey.
Im a big fan of lost just wondering how it´s going with the theme?
Take care
yes i would love to see this go some where!
Hi to you all!
I'm quite new to the forum but ever since I found my way to it I've spent hours on it
I've been trying to learn to make some icons and stuff and I practiced with the Lost theme. I don't really know how to make themes or cab files or anything, but I thought I could share that little something that I came up with....
I found some icons from this site: http://www.lostseasons.com/lost-icons/ and all the credit to those who made'em. I guess those can be used since they are there available for download. If some one knows otherwise let me know?
Anyway, all the icons were on the big sheet so I had to cut them to individual ones and do some resizing and make the background transparent etc....You can link the .png files to the Diamond icons with Manila editor or if you wish I can share my set of manila files...I just don't know yet if the order of the icons is good or not.
I also attach two wallpapers, other one found from somewhere from this forum (the dharma background) and other one found from some wallpapersite and resized/cropped for optimal resolution...I noticed someone else thinking the same that me too about the dharma stations used as icons and that might be a good idea for other "theme" with the attached dharma wallpaper.
So here's my contribution to the Forum
I just hope I'm not "stepping to anyone's toes" with this....?
14 Tab Icons - Dharma - Lost
I've taken some icons that Toranaga79 posted and combined them with the stock white Icons to create what IMO is a classy set of Tab Icons. I don't use the stock tab, so I didn't create on, if someone really wants it, I'm sure I could whip one up. Hope you like them!
I've created a cab to install the icons. Remember to disable TF3D from you today setup menu before installing/uninstalling.
Looks good nkryptit, I like them!
Thanks
I like the lost themes. Good job
Hi master themers
I have been trying to theme the phandroid app to no avail. I wanted it basically to be the same as the xda app.
I managed to swap out all the .pngs needed and even edit the xml files to give a black backgroud and white (and gray) text, signed etc... Installs fine too, but then just force closes after a little while, without being able to do anything.
Just the png's works fine, but the text doesn't work and still leaves BG's white
Unfortunately there are so many references to bg and text colour within the xml's, theres no way around editing them. Once I got past all the errors recompiling I managed to sign etc, Still no Joy
Its unbelievable just how desperate I am to get this black themed for better battery life (AMOLED screen). But after 3 hours of messing around, I have to stop - defeated.
As I am a complete amateur, I was hoping one of you kind souls would possibly help me out please? I have been using apk manager myself. If anyone is really experienced with theming existing apks, including at an xml level, I would certainly love to hear from you...
Thanks in advance
EDIT> forgot to mention, the version in particular I am trying to theme is this one:
http://phandroid.com/dump/android-market-publish-fail-lol.apk
Or if anyone in the know could suggest a better method, or where I could be going wrong please?
Sorry Dan, I doubt I can help with your theme but did notice that the link doesnt take me to the .apk
Perhaps somebody on this thread can help Where to find the colors for making a theme

I'm looking around the forum for a few days, and first I want to thank everyone who develops for droid and specifically for this site - its amazing.
A lot of the tutorials, ect. are in my opinion, a little bit complex, and vague, and it would be great to see dumb downed versions in the future, but in general just great.
So basically, on to business, I've rooted my xperia x8, downloaded a few apps for root only users, and the only thing left I want to do to my phone is to change the menus and notification bar from BLUE to a black shade, or even white would be fine. But if its white i'd have to change all the text to black and it'd probably be more complicated.
I haven't found a tutorial on here in the last few days i've looked, and I'm hoping for a link to something, or instructions. I've found a few things that I don't really understand and couldn't even tell if they were referring to the same things I wanted to do.
I hope someone can give me some advice, link to a matching thread, or step by step instructions.
Appreciated!
Ye, I want to know that too
