Are you pressing the 3 buttons, and then while holding them, pushing the stylus in? I think it's about 5 seconds before it resets, so it takes some time, be patient while holding the buttons and the stylus

Can someone please advise me, I've brought the Xda Mini S today. I am trying to pefrorm a hard reset and following the instructions from the user manual but it keeps on performing a Soft Reset instead.
What do I do? Please help!
start / settings / system / clear storage enter 1234 and away you go!
Thank you very much Lord Buckingham, it's done now!
Thanks again!
So why doesn't the manual say this, and they way it says doesn't work?
I had same prob, so did a quick search on here. Great wealth of information!
some of users said they were able to do hard reset by buttons,
holding those buttons and quickly pushing soft reset, they said it realy hard to find moment to release buttons...
anyone know the button combo? TIA
hard reset procedure: hold comm manager button (the one on the left), power (on the top) and voice dial button (the one on the right) at same time, and while holding them press soft reset buttton. realise soft reset button (stil holding top 3 buttons and format screen will appear. pres green button and that's it.
wow that's a lot of buttons! will try that the next time i do a HR. thanks
My manual states comm manager button, voice comm button together then reset button

There is no timing...
Just press and hold comm. button and the voicedial button.
Than put your stylus for one sec on the reset hole and still hold the 2 buttons mentioned above.
Than the phone will boot and you will see a screen asking you to press the (green) send button to hardreset.

i had the same problem with hard reset yesterday (my first hard reset ever . after a few tries i found that most proper way to hard reset device is:
1) press & hold comm button + voice dial button
2) press reset button (while holding buttons mentioned above)
3) KEEP HOLDING comm & voice dial buttons
4) after a while hard reset is done, so we can release all buttons
big thx eva_d!
arrggh!
This has been the best forum i have come accross. My phone function ends up as being a blank in the task manager and i constantly by mistake quit i while i am trying to quit something else. a proper pain...
I am tryin to hard reset the phone so i can set it up in corporate mode...i just seem to be completely unableto get it...i have been trying to hold the two buttons and press reset while still holding the two buttons....five minutes later still nothing....arrgh. Any solutions....
This is from the manual:
To perform a hard reset
1. Press and hold the Comm Manager button and Voice Command
button on the device.
2. Keep the two buttons pressed, and at the same time, use the
stylus to lightly press and hold the RESET button.

it is frustrating at first but it is easier with practice. in my experience i released the stylus after about 5 secs and i was prompted with a question if I wanted to format the device [hit send button to start]
Do you really need hard reset?
Did you try clear storage?
Some times it is enough to clear your phone...
If you're feeling generous, can you try hardreset using VJEschaton?
I've never tested it on WM5 hardware, I haven't had a good reason to hardreset yet.
V
VJEshscaton now works on the Wizard, although I think there are easier ways to reset our phones Eg, using them!

Because i tried that and i think they do the same job!!!
I can't do HR,
Not with the Buttons combination ( Volume down+SR+OK+Power)
Not with the build in Format Storage.
Any Ideas ??
Hold the volume button down while pressing the soft reset with the stylus on the back of the unit.
Alternatively, do Setting>System>Clear Storage and follow instruction there. This can be used if the device is still alive and responding to you.
Thanks
It didn't work
maybe the unit is defective

Sounds like it. If you hold the sound button downward while at the same time pressing the reset button at the back of the unit with your stylus and it doesn't hard reset or prompt you to hard reset on the screen, then there is something wrong. Contact support, see what they say.

Ooh I don't know s:
I figured that a hard reset is achieved by holding the Call and Hangup buttons on power on but I don't otherwise know!

I've got the RGB screen, with USB showing. How do you install the Rom's at that point? Activesync shows not connected, but I can hear I have a proper USB connection to my PC (audible connection noise) and USB shows on the screen, how do you install the Rom from there please?
Do you need to copy a file onto the phone memory first? How do you activate when in RGB? ???
Cheers

im trying to hardreset my p4350, but nothing is working.
i tried with an earring and i can't really feel the reset button in the hole on the bottom.... i can't get it to hardreset.. i hold down the two softbuttons which i finally figured out are the lines not the red and green and not ok/windows... anyway... i hold htem down, press the reset hole, then nothing.
do you do this with windows trying (and failing) to boot, or with the power off? i've tried it both ways with no sucess =(
so you also cannot softreset????
try a hardreset by "start - settings - delete storage (or so)" i guess.
but i cannot belive that you even cannot softreset. and when you can softreset - you should be able to hardreset

holdin the softkeys for 5 sec and once pressing the reset button should do the trick.
but when nothing happens.....
simply throw off the battery for 10 secs, then put it again, press power button shortly and press softkeys and hold it. it will help you without reset!

The hole in the "bottom" ie. next to the charging / sync port is your microphone - please do NOT go poking around in there, or you will wind up with a non-working phone.
The reset button on a Wing is on the left side, directly below the volume slider. A paper clip or ball point pen should work, if you don't have a stylus.
Good luck!

I erally, really hope that this is not the soulution.....

Were you able to get it to reset by using the correct button? If so, does your microphone still work - have you tried placing a call to see if the other person can hear you?
Good luck!

That's entirely right. If at the point that you get the display making you choose between reset or cancel, slide out your keyboard and press the given keys Should work just fine, have done it myself several times.

dude thank a lot, i was getting upset, mad and scared, dunno why it got stuck at the green windows mobile screen, not going further.
that was hard to perform lol, hard-reset the "hard way" al by myself.
I have also experienced problems hard resetting the device and have resorted to Start>Settings>Clear Storage and it seems to have the same effect, no?

yeah.. clear storage is the same right??? hardreset ya?
can someone take a video on this 'hardreset'
i think this could be very helpful
thanks.
just hard reset my xperia after trying so many times like the others out there.
just wanna add additional info, you have to keep on pressing and holding the 3 keys (2 front keys and the reset button) until you get the blue screen.
if you press then simultaneously for just a few sec w/o waiting for the blue screen, you'll just soft reset your unit.
