Hi, I have a Hermes lying around and wanted to know if it was possible to use the Hermes as a camera over the web. For instance, can I install an app on the phone which acts like a camera so I can monitor my house while I'm away, or the baby when I'm out of the room?
I heard something about it
but none is good enough than your eyes dude!
google it i remember to saw something about it...
yeah ur right there que i remember a thread not so long ago about getting the hermes to send its camera online so you could view it elsewhere so there may be a chance
Remember not to search for "hermes as a babysitter" but "pocketpc" or "windows mobile".... it's not device-specific
YUP
Lets do some research about this...
http://www.ateksoft.com/
hehehehe
got it!!!!
i use this as my webcam... but works if you use the pc near the babys room.

Is there a "self-timer" app for the camera program of the xda? figured i could use the cradle as the "tripod"...with a little adjustment coz the unit will be leaning forward...then hit the timer button and then take a pic with me and my mates.
cheers
robson
Did you have any joy with finding an App for this Robson ? I would be interested if you did..
Thanks,
Rob.
hey mate,
nope, surfed and abused my internet priveledges in the office but never came across one app for the xda. i did see a couple of forums and possibly apps connected with the subject; but none i'm afraid led to the xda.
cheers
i think it should easy to be programmed manually, all what you need is a program that launches the camera program to shoot a picture, i guess it should be a 10 line program
Just done one if you guys are still need one.
See http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=9730

As some of you have had the exec delivered whats your verdict?
I have the 11s and i am considering upgrading.
The 11s is about as bulkly as i would want to go and i know the exec is slightly larger and heavier but until you have it in your hand you cant really tell.
The 11s has a anoyingly quit ring tones and the vibrate is not much better.
So please post your thiughts.
Clive
oops
meant this for the existing thread sorry
Why don't you delete it then?
Btw..
Roman numerals uses the letter "I", not the number "1"..
It's "IIs" not "11s"..
how
dont know how to delete it
if i did i would have
remember we all start somewhere thats how the whole thing works if it was only for smart asses then it would not be required

I just upgraded to an XDA Exec from a IIs and I love it. Sure it is buliker than the IIs, which was big enoguh with a decent case, but the extra things you can do with it more than make up for it. The VGA screen is crystal clear, the stereo speakers and proper headphne socket, video calling, 3g internet browsing, proper keyboard... There are quite a few people here who think it is a disappointment, and yes, there are a few bugs and niggles, but overall I am really pleased with mine.

PuTTy is an SSH Client used to connect to Unix/Linux based servers running an SSH Server. Pocket PuTTy is Putty for your pocket pc . I use it all the time.

100% agree. In a few years many companies will build devices like this.
Why did we have to wait so long for WMdevices with a keyboard?
Huib

well arrived today but i had to work late so just finished looking at it.
It looks great not as large as i thought either.

Any of you fine individuals know of any good bluejacking software?
I've tried a few but they all seem to have problems working with my Trinity, unfortunately.
use bluezard
http://www.wm-soft.com/products/bluezard
worth to buy it
... this looks good. I'm waiting to see more comments on it before I buy it.

Thanks for the post and the info
well i didn t find equivalent appz than bluezard, the first and only prog that i ve bought in my life
nocomp, I see that you like to support good software development by buying software you like. This is the only software ever that you like? Or maybe you couldn't find it elsewhere?
Hey we all have bad habits - I fart in bed - but I don't go shouting about it. ...DOH! - I just did.
hahahaha,
well , the guy that dev it is always present for help you, the prog works like a charm, and it s very very cheap, so no regrets to have bought it
if it was 100$ i would of live without it
Did you take a look at:
- BTCrawler
- Sniper
Might be worth a look
hi,
yep i know these
check that:
http://www.wm-soft.com/article/the-real-bluejack-features-comparison
Hi,
That Bluezard software look BRILLIANT!, works fast and cool features......But....
a few years ago i brought Sniper and only used it on my Universal (M5000).
So i have tried to install it on my M700 and all went wrong. I kept getting errors saying "No device found" even if i knew there were devices on around me.
If anyone else is using WM6 and getting this trouble, there is a fix for this if you search there support forum.
This is the fix:
just install the netcf.all.wce4.ARMV4.cab file to your device (not SD card) and then run the software again, and all should be working
Note: to get Sniper to manage all bluetooth functions (like storage area for recieved files etc) you MUST uncheck the 'Accept all beams' in comm manager.
Hope this helps people out there to save time to get bluejacking!
has anyone tested the full versions of Sniper and also Bluezard to give me a comparison? which has the best features etc?
From what i saw from the demo of Bluezard, i would say this is the better but i dont know
Thank you for anyones time in advance
Is there any such scanner working with Widcomm BT stack? Tools mentioned above uses only MS BT stack
Thread moved to Trinity general!
so i actually found a copy of Retina WiFi scanner, and loaded it up on my HTC wiz (8125). But when I went to start it, it came back saying that it could not initiate the drivers, and that to turn my wifi card on...
Like I didn't already do that...
Anyone else come up with that error message, and is there any known way around it?
retina device driver;
hallo, i have the same problem. if you have found a sollution let me know
TYTN II UK
nope, no solutions. I actually abandoned the project cause i could find no one smarter then who actually knew what they were doing
The most I could come up with, however, was that for those that did get it to work, it usually took a long time for it to get anywhere, and by the time it did get anywhere their battery life was near shot.
I can send you the application if you like.

can you send me the file? pm me the link on rapidshare or something
weell....
well, apparently I misspoke. I thought i had that program stored away on my second harddrive, but apparently i do not. As it is, i don't have it anywhere except on my pocket pc and that is as an application.
however, i do remember reading somewhere that there is a program that can actually extract the .cab from the ppc in case of something like what has happened to me, happens. So i will research that and see if i can come up with something.
Again, I am really sorry, and rest assured if i did have it, it would have been up on rapishare that very day...
as it is, like most things, i am going to have to do it the hardway...
If in fact you do want to continue looking for it, i cannot remember if i found via torrent, or some russian site. those russian sites have EVERYTHING. Although I would suggest going through google to translate them. Unless of course you can read russian then kudo's to you.
Either way, I will work on seeing if i can extract the .cab from my phone.
stay tuned!
"Retina Wifi" is available for free from here -
http://www.eeye.com/html/downloads/index.html
You just have to register and they email you a download link. I shall have a play (although I shall be using a Hermes rather than my Wizard and probably won't come back to say if it works due to lazyness).
Hope that helps
that's new...
when i was there last, they said that they no longer supported the project. Unless this is a different think then what we were originally talking about.
the version that i was referring to, had a neat little brute force wep cracker. i read some pro's and con's to it and thought that it would be cool just to have.
but hey, register, and then share your find if it's worthwhile!
like i started to say earlier it has been a while since i played with my HTC wizard, and a lot of this is more or less a vaguery for me.
(yes i just made that word up)

the only way of extracting an installed app as a cab from a ppc, that i know of, is sk schema or sk tracker, cant remember which but the software from sk has to be installed BEFORE you install the app
, so i doubt that will be of use to you.
hmmm...
yes, those names do sound familiar...
and yeah, installing it before hand might put a damper on things.
....
hmm i just had a thought, i wonder if i stored it as a backup on my sd card. as it is right i basically use my ppc for "war driving" (that is driving around in the car sniffing for wifi signals, courtesy of wififofum, for those that don't know) and as a glorified mp3 player for my truck (conduits player is great... just as a fyi)... however all my songs on my phone are all stored on a 2 gig micro sd card...
but i don't remember if i erased my backups to make room for more songs...
hold on all! don't close the thread yet there still may be hope!
do u still want the program ? let me know and I'll email you the install file.. I get the same error with the drivers on my qtek 9100. Let me know if you can get it to work.
i'm not 100% sure, but i remember seeing somewhere (years ago) that this program only works with compactflash wifi cards, and not internal ones. this could possibly be the issue about the driver thing. any other similar programs available for wep / wpa cracking?
bump... would love to see this app (or one like it work)

there is no word about be able to do webcamera on a windows pc with the phone... sorry orb live wont do it
i would like to use the nexus one as a webcamera for my laptop and viewing webcams on the n1...
I've done it with orb... no problem.
Make sure you set up their latest edition and use it through the web browser. Their app sucks... through the browser its free
I can see how you can use a PC Webcam and bring it to the N1 using this software, but I really don't see how to do the opposite.
How do I use the N1 as the webcam that's viewable on a PC?
qik anybody?

google it. i know there is a dev out there who has a working on on 1.6. He hasent done 2.1 yet because he does not have a N1 to test with. currently i do not believe their is an app or way to do this yet

I have "googled it". What search terms would you suggest to get some relavent results? When I do searches I typically end up with two hits that at first seem like they might be useful. The first goes to google's forum and is worthless... the next one links to this very thread.
Two different people here have said they've done it with orb... it's pretty reasonable to ask them how they did it since doing searches on orb's site don't give anything fruitful.

Why do you keep posting off topic?
Let's start over and read the question being asked and see if there's a solution.
We all know that Orb will let you stream a webcam that's connected TO YOUR PC to your phone.
That is NOT what we're trying to accomplish.
We'd like to be able to (as the thread states) "N1 using as a webcam" Use the N1's built in camera to stream live video to another place.
I would like to be able to set the phone down, aim it's camera at something and then have someone else... PC across the planet... whatever... be able to see what the phone is aimed at.
Does anyone know how to do that?

Now that's what I'm talkin about. Good find. Will try out and report back.
*edit* This must have been removed from the market. I even went to the publisher's page on the phone and clicked the market link they have there and it takes you to a "no matches" page... boo...
do you still have the 0.4 apk?

I do. I'll rip it when I get home if I remember, but you'll also need a software client on the PC side which I do not have.
Looks like it's still here though: http://www.placaware.com/?page_id=6

Yea, that's the point I'm at... I wonder why they took it down.
The only issue I'm seeing is that they say it only gets 3fps... that ... kinda sucks.
*edit* and thanks for grabbin the apk off your phone later.. I appreciate it.
Another issue I'm having, and maybe it's just because I don't have it attached to a computer yet, but everything is rotated 90 degrees counter-clockwise on my n1 and a portion of the bottom mirrors the image.
