Is there a "self-timer" app for the camera program of the xda? figured i could use the cradle as the "tripod"...with a little adjustment coz the unit will be leaning forward...then hit the timer button and then take a pic with me and my mates.
cheers
robson
Did you have any joy with finding an App for this Robson ? I would be interested if you did..
Thanks,
Rob.
hey mate,
nope, surfed and abused my internet priveledges in the office but never came across one app for the xda. i did see a couple of forums and possibly apps connected with the subject; but none i'm afraid led to the xda.
cheers
i think it should easy to be programmed manually, all what you need is a program that launches the camera program to shoot a picture, i guess it should be a 10 line program
Just done one if you guys are still need one.
See http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=9730

DId anyone ever get the flashlight VJCandle thing operational on the ATOM??
I stopped working on it for a while. I needed a screenshot of the diagnostics program running on the atom to try to disassemble it. If you can send me one, it would help.
I know the atom boys on PDAPhoneHome started working on it. Not sure if they finished.
V
if you tell me how to get the screen shot i will happily send it to u..
Cheers
Use the program Magic SS to grab a screenshot. It's free, on google.
V
sorry actually meant how to run the diagnostics to get the screen shot
Diagnostic program should be in your windows folder. I think it's called SelfDiag.exe.
V
ok i ran selfdiag and it gives a list of items to check, i ran the camera flash and it simply asks is the camera light on Yes/no and once answered it gives it a pass..., am i missing something?
That's the one. It sounds lika a PITA, but a screenshot of the app asking the question re the flash would be useful for me to reverse engineer the selfdiag and find out what mechanism is used in the atom. I had a quick poke around, but it's full of text strings, and I can't run the app because I don't have an atom.
V
Hiya
ok screenshot attached let me know if you need anything else.
Cheers

Hi Vijay!
Any updates on getting VJCandela to work with the Atom?
I'm really anxious to get this working - so if theres anything you need, let me know and i'll try my best to get it done.
Sorry Kunz, I haven't had time to do any further work on it, I got bogged down with some real life stuff (having a baby, moving house), and have only been getting back into coding slowly when time allows.
I didn't continue with the atom work because I thought someone must have finished the job by now!
What I need: an atom
But otherwise, I can't promise when, but I'll try to get back onto the case as soon as I get some time
V
bugger :\
lgood luck with everything vijay, hopefully someone else can jump on this and move us atom users forward =)
Hello everyone!
I'm new on this forum and I've only read TONS of useful information till now...Few days ago I bought an HTC Touch device and immediately I flashed its ROM with a new one found in this *** WONDERFUL *** site
Well, in the past I developed some (stupid) applications for Windows in several languages; then I discover the "pocket-pc" world and began to have to do with it! One night I was reading about a feature of a developement-version of a well known browser and WOOOOOOOW!!!! "You can perform several actions, like scrolling, panning, zooming...only by moving your phone!" The software use image-processing algorithms to recognize your gestures ...only using the built-in camera!!!! No accelometers needed...
Something like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I3pVaEVHpvI
Now, image-processing algorithms are not too difficult to implement...but how can I get access to the built-in camera on my Htc ?!? I tried to search all over the internet, and in this forum too...but I found only few things about HTCCameraAPI and many other programs and their dlls. I cannot believe there's no way to have access to the camera!!!
HELP please!!! this "project" could be very interesting!
One thing is sure - it _can_ be done, and it can work really good, even on weak hardware - look at this:
http://rivia.net/Fishopolis.aspx
I just tried the demo and i was amazed how well it worked on my wizard (especially considering its crappy camera), even in less than perfect lighting conditions (incadescent light). No overclocking required.
Also, from what i've seen WM7 is going to use the camera-based gestures too. So, anyone willing to beat M$ to it and develop a camera-based ftouchflo-like app?
I've looked at the libs, and I've even dabbled in the source, and this is my next project. Like I said, we know it can be done, it's just a matter of doing it. Obviously though, I've got to finish off PocketMelody etc. But it's my next move, once no one beats me to it . And personally, I hope someone does! It's not THAT hard.
Welcome to the forums gregnapola!
This website hepled me choose my very first PPC Phone 18 months ago and helped it become the best little device I own. It just keeps getting better and better with tools such as FTouchFlo, PocketMelody and Picture Flow, and I look forward to this feature onMY HTC Hermes!
Shows how much really can be done with this WM platform, all you need is developers with imagination and talent (and all the other things that go along with it like coffe and donations and and respect on the forums ).
Thanks guys.
maybe we would have some1 develop a program that automatically changes portrait mode into landscape by jus rotating the camera..hey u never kno..this is XDA-DEVELOPERS..
Sounds awesome and would definitly love to see this done. Just a quick question about it. Would it be a big battery drain to have this running all the time?

Considering that you're not rendering anything to the screen, it's at least safe to assume you'll be using A LOT less power than if you were walking around with your camera application on all day .
Thank you for your replies...
I've just installed the demo version of "Rivia Fishopolis" to see how well can it work but it doesn't run it because of an unknow security-error
Now, I found a lot of useful camera-based applications, but they'll come in the future - I'm talking about WM7 gesture-based control, NetFront 3.5 or EyeMobile Games by GestureTek...but all I really need is the way to capture frames by my Elf camera; code samples in any Visual Studio language with HTCCameraAPI, or any other lib...
any update?
I'd also love to substitute my D-Pad for a Camera-based Motion Tracking system
No Dev takes this challenge?

I resolved your error assigning owner information (all). But camera feature seems to not work on my trinity...also the d-pad can't move the cursor...is there anyone with same problem?
thanks
Would it be possible to have it access the front camera too and switch of the LCD when you're talking on the phone? Something like what the iPhone does to save battery.

That's really stinks!! I hope you can get another one. Sorry to hear the news.
Chris
Im trying to use Fishopolis on my phone ( an HTC Wizard) but i keep on getting some kind of weird security error.
Any ideas why im getting that error and how to fix it?
doesn't seem to work with the camera on the Hermes...hmmm
Looks like we will have to wait until 2009 for WM7.
wouldn't it consume a lot more battery if camera is always on.
just my thought
I think this is a cool idea and I think I mentioned this somewhere else in this forum, but if this could be done, it would be cool if one could use the camera of there phone, link it via bluetooth and use it as a mouse for a laptop.
Just thinking outloud.
lol, some interesting ideas.

I feel I should have posted this as a contribution quite some time ago.. But I failed.. So here it is now!!
Quite some time ago I developed a bluetooth proximity lock application for Windows. It uses python and has the ability to control multiple computers.
http://www.blingcrazy.com/comments.php?y=07&m=09&entry=entry070913-050958
This works with ANY bluetooth device as long as it is discoverable.
Enjoy!

Cool thanx, that's what i've been looking for

Awesomeness.. Happy to contribute.
Hey all,
I wonder what happened to this. The DL link is broken ...
... is this project still active?
There's a new shareware called LockItNow!, claiming "Up until today there are no programs that detect when you have left the computer and then automatically locks it wireless."
So, XDA was quicker again?
Would be good to have a valid link to try.
N.
The page linked to in the original post has now expired, would anyone be able to explain how to do this using C# please?
Thanks!
Hi everyone! I own a trinity spv m700 orange white phone. Nothing has been change, the phone is still the same as the day it came package. And I have just witnessed the potential of what my phone can do.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mSGqgEGedq8&feature=related
I am still a noob. And I dunno what they are using to do all that on their trinity. I think now is the good time to learn more about my phone and fiddle with it.
I would love and kill to see my trinity work that way. Would any experts out there kindly point me in the right direction. I know there might be alot of work cut out for me. But I am not discouraged.
Hope someone can help me in here.
Thank you in advance.
Regards,
leynos.

There's nothing special about it. From what I can see, it has HTC Home installed, Touchflo, HTC Album in landscape mode, Pocket IE in full screen mode, Tom Tom navigation, Office Mobile, Windows Media Player, HTC Audio Manager, HTC Action, nothing special.
As for the speed, it is a medium speed ROM, I'd give it a 6/10.
Most of these apps you will find on the forum.

Here you go!
After installation, shut down PPC (hold power button for 4 seconds), then soft reset.
Hey Tnyynt.
Thanks, but I think I found a solution by searching....
Schaps Advanced configuration tool (works w/wm6.1.) It has the SIM option and many more cool options (of which I know how to use maybe two!)

Hi, I have a Hermes lying around and wanted to know if it was possible to use the Hermes as a camera over the web. For instance, can I install an app on the phone which acts like a camera so I can monitor my house while I'm away, or the baby when I'm out of the room?
I heard something about it
but none is good enough than your eyes dude!
google it i remember to saw something about it...
yeah ur right there que i remember a thread not so long ago about getting the hermes to send its camera online so you could view it elsewhere so there may be a chance
Remember not to search for "hermes as a babysitter" but "pocketpc" or "windows mobile".... it's not device-specific
YUP
Lets do some research about this...
http://www.ateksoft.com/
hehehehe
got it!!!!
i use this as my webcam... but works if you use the pc near the babys room.

here is the app in exe to install the app in the PC and in the PPC
