[28-Jul][TASKBAR]Customized Taskbar for WM6.5 [QVGA] - Touch Cruise ROM Development

Hi guys,
I spend a lot of time looking for good moded taskbar for QVGA device, but in vain. There are plenty taskbars out there for VGA, but nothing that fits Polaris so that finally I decided to take Tsowen build 3 and adapt for QVGA as I found it best looking.
Credit goes to Tsowen and ppcgeeks.com
For more info how to modify taskbar look here or here
INSTALL:
1. first install sdkcerts cab if you don't have it yet.
2. install moded taskbar cab from link below.
3. reset device and enjoy
NOTES:
For Bluetooth icon to work first you must install phonecanvas and only then moded taskbar.

xda alienTaskBar v3.0
P.S. Keep in mind that these icons are 32x32 pixels, but QVGA taskbar is only 25 pixels high so windows will shrink these icons to 16x16 and there will be obvious quality loose.
Cheers, WhiteAlien

Thank you !!!!!!!! looks great in my polaris!!!!! i love those colors
Btw see you in forums mate!!! good job!!

Hi, can you customize some more of this taskbars? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=512971
I want to have a taskbar which is more coloured and with nicer looking icons, maybe looking like one of this:

Kewel, looks very nice on pcarvalho's rom, thx!

On 3LIT3 VIII rom I don't have the Ok/Close button. It's just a big round white circle. In rest everything fits very well with qvga resolution. Great job.

Well, 3LIT3 VIII is based on WM6.1 and I did not tested on that WM version

If I'll have more free time I will make some more, but just so you know that this screenshoot is for VGA devices. The screen resolution is very high so icons look nice, but when you shrink them to QVGA size they become very ugly and looks like bunch of colored pixels. Taskbar height is only 25 pixels.

Agree, I had difficult time too in searching for nice taskbar for my POLARIS, only found the Arthemus taskbars suitable for qvga devices thus far. There are lots of vga taskbars around.
Thanks for your new taskbar, btw, does the battery icon show increment by 1%?
Cheers

I used some other Taskbars for qvga devices, but with every version, my phonepad to enter the phone-pin was not displayed right.
With this version, phonepad for entering pin is displayed like it should be.

Yes, it does.

This is awesome thanks for it and the time making it work for everyone!
Although i just noticed a slight bug, when you bring up the system status screen the battery reads 100% May well be my older build not making it work.

Hi I have installed your task bar, thanks for your time.
However I originally wanted to install tswowen qvga task bar and it worked fine but the phone-pin screen gets buttons messed. With yours does not happen. Do you know what happens to me? (I use pcarvalho 21820 rom for polaris, I posted the same question in his thread).

Hmm, did not really understood what you mean by phone-pin screen? These are just taskbars icons, normally nothing related to phone dial pad or pin screen.

Yes I mean the screen where you type the PIN for the sim card after a soft reset or flight mode, with the numbers 1 to nine and the clear and enter buttons. I have been reading other posts and in one of them read something about the icons of the pin screen being part of the htcvolume.dll so maybe in your cab is handled different than in originals qvga tsowen cabs??

Look in thhis thread post #7: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=475900

No, don't know anything about this problem. Maybe in his cab are more dlls related to pin pad layout or it installs something else besides taskbar. HTCVolumeControl.dll contains only 3 volume icons and it is optional dll.

Can you make a taskbar for polaris with the icons of the other taskbar post? They are still qvga and look very good. I used them in an older rom. But now in my WM6.5 ROM i can´t install them any more.
If you could change only the icons, then it should be no problem to install the taskbar. I can´t install the taskbar of the other thread because of a certificate error.

Yes that is what happens to me, thanks for the screenshot. I read al the posts in the thread but I did not see a solution, right? anyway the topic of this thread is the great work from whitealien which works fine combined with pcarvalho rom.

I can´t install the taskbar of this older thread on my pcarvalho rom.
Can you install it? The new taskbar of this thread can be installed without any problems.

the only taskbar I have been able to install without messing up the buttons of the pin screen is the cab in the first post (just downloaded two / three days ago). The rest of cabs (qvga tsowen cabs in his thread) mess the buttons in my polaris.pcarvalho though they seem to work well (the taskbars).

If anyone can make a nice flash today plugin I'd be deeply appreciated.
The FLA sourcecode will be included here in the end, in case anyone wants to make changes.
New Lite Version:
- Seconds on/off (just click on them)
- 12/24 hours format (just click on them)
- Numerical date
- Smoother animation
- Compact size
New ADVANCED Version:
- One settings button only
- Choose between 8 languages* for full date
- Seconds on/off
- 12/24 hours format
- 2 colors to choose from
* See how you can add your own language here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2343649&postcount=25
If you see any bugs with your language please let me know.
To use it:
- Install flash: http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer_pocketpc/downloads/player.html
- Install any today flash plugin, like Animated Today: http://www.gigabytesol.com/anitoday.htm
- Copy this TSK to my documents and select it.
Enjoy
This flash was originaly posted here:

Added the source-code for the LITE version.
---edit---
I'm descontinuing this clock, since its now embebed with the animated weather, in the version 8 and called "Tempus".
Tempo is a portuguese word that describes both the time as the weather.

just tested animated today:
http://www.gigabytesol.com/animated-today.htm
It works as good as POCKET THEME MANAGER, you can have the plugin on top, transparent and it works with a 24 fps version.
thanks man, tried it with that animated today program/plugin and it works fine. i wanna remove the seconds tab though and reproportion the times so it fits better within the white boxes but dont have flash program to do it with
if you remove the seconds tab the animation only happens every minute, so it kind of looses the main atraction there...
I was looking for this clock for some time now.
I have it working without the flash, but as you made it with flash this is really great!
I need some help installing this clock though....
I installed the animated today program, together with flash.
I can get he flash animation working in the flash player, but how can I make it work as a clock??
use the .tsk file I uploaded, the tsk has the swf already embbed into it.
With the pocket theme manager I can get it to work.
Now I have the black clock theme, but I lost the other HTC home buttons :/
Can the clock also be integrated into the HTC home theme?
Because now I lost my new email-sms, ... buttons :/
Could anyone post a cab of the free trial of Animated Today? I don't use ActiveSync, which somehow crashes my touch by not letting it connect to my router (I've already tried four or five times with the same result, need to hard-reset).
BTW, very cool clock!! Nice work!
Well, you cant connect it to htc home, but if someone makes a flash today plugin i can surely do my best to make something very similar...
Sorry i dont have the trial cab, just the "other" one, and this is not that kind of forum...

You made great!!!! Congrats and thank you... it works with animated today (the same version you have )
How it be connected to htc home? I have the same issue as it was mentioned namely that your clock can not be used together with the htc home on the today because of the sizes (and of course double clock is useless) but I also miss the other features of htc home.
One suggestion: I think it could be also useful to reduce the clock size a bit (to 2/3 size of the present) and fill the white flips with the numbers more (now the numbers are 1/2 size of the flips)
Anyway thank you for your great work and keep up improving!!!!
New version:
- With bigger numbers
- Severall color modes to choose from (the new button)
- Seconds on/off (just click on them)
- 12/24 hours format (just click on them)
- 24 frames per second
Enjoy
1st version Teste_Horas, screen its full black. But new version black clock only Sorry for my English
theres a newer version on the post direcly above yours.
I've edited the first post with the new version also...
Hello Twolf.
Nice job. I really like it and i'm using, but i removed the bottom bar (windows mobile 2003 se) and when i try to make a diferent *.tsk, i need to make it in a diferent program such as pocket pc themes toolkit and install on pocket pc with the program pocket theme manager 2...well it's a long story but i need, if you want, the *.swf file to make a diferent theme to me.
Once again...nice job!!!

Hey you : did thou have a shot at WM6.1 tested?. My device Asus P535 WM 6.1
ancola66, I own a WM6.1 and that is my screenshot on the first post.
The only diference now it that I have the clock on top of that resco today skin.
MRFERRARI23, I dont really know how to make a cab file, but all it would do is copy that .TSK file into the MY DOCUMENTS folder... so, is that really necessary?
moshinho, I've updated the original post with a zip with the latest version (just some animation cleaups), the swf and the original FLA, in case any one out there with flash may want to make some changes.
Everyone, still waiting for that flash today plugin...
Thanks Twolf.
But when i insert the *.swf in the theme, the clock turns smaller
I don'd know why.
If i use your black_24c.tsk, the clock it's ok.
Updated the previews on the first post (image and flash).
hi T wolf... your pluggin are great, some input i think you should discard the second and replace it with the alarm symbol throw in messaging email missied call.. ehhhh asking alot...
but anyways goddjob. oh yeah is it possible to link it with the time setting as the htc home clock when you tap it then it will link to the time setting to setup alarm and etc

SprintFLO v0.22 Diamond Theme for PocketCM 0.27
Hi all,
I've been a long time lurker and learned so much on this forum, but always been afraid of posting because I didn't want to get too addicted. Since I navigate my way towards this page and ppcgeeks about 20 times a day anyway, I thought I might as well start posting too. What better way to pop my posting cherry than to make a contribution.
One of my favorite programs on my mogul was PocketCM. When I bought my diamond, I couldn't get any of my favorite skins to run correctly and I was having a hard time finding VGA compatible themes that i liked.
If you are like me and enjoy the stock sprint theme (minus the clock, what were they thinking!?) you will appreciate this.
This theme is no longer VGA only! QVGA support has been added! WVGA Support has been added!
Credits:
Many thanks are due.
First thanks to TENE for creating PocketCM!
Thanks to:
Lukymat5 - Creation of Dark Diamond II code and graphics! The base for SprintFLO.
Don_pipo - Continued development of Dark Diamond code and developing landscape mode!
Also thanks to Torx, brambk, ExtraDuckSauce, Anja31, Olioaglio, lightbiter, YBLaze8, DaveHutch, and DvTonder.
Without their example, creation of this theme could not have taken place!
If you are looking for a fantastic theme with the original HTC Black Manila and Green take a look at the second post below.
Dark Diamond II was created by lukymat5 and don_pipo.
Install:
You need PocketCM .27, you can download it here.
Extract the contents of the SprintFLO v0.22.zip file into \Program Files\PocketCM. This should create a folder called SprintFLO and SprintFLO.zip. (The image files are extracted to the folder for better performance)
Run PocketCM, choose SprintFlo theme in options and enjoy!

Please leave feedback of any bugs, quirks, glitches you may find.
When leaving feedback please tell me what device you have, what version of Windows Mobile/Custom rom you are using and any other relevant info. A screenshot, if possible would help out a lot too!
Known Bugs:
*fixed*As of right now Landscape is not functional.

Sometimes the it's hard to minimize by clicking the battery, not sure if this one is the skin or the program.
New contact from sms - if you try to create a new contatct from a sms, when you click the new contact button the program exits.
SMS bubble alignment in QVGA - still need more feedback and a screenshot if possible
Some minor graphics issues

Too Nice!! You have my vote to proceed with QVGA...then I could use it!! Lovely gfx! Thanks.
yes +2 on qvga, this is a must have theme for my sprint manila2d theme
would love to see this in QVGA
great design thanks you very much
We want it to QVGA
Well looks like just about everyone who has replied wants a QVGA version. I was trying to get the landscape up and running before I started converting to different sizes, but looks like I'll be working on the size change first.
Thanks for your feedback!
Very sweet and for the record, I have the Touch Pro so a VGA version first is a nice change, much appreciated. The QVGA users will definitely like it when you get it converted.
nice! please qvga version if you have the time...thanks
QVGA Theme!!!
But it is them (QVGA) have some problem with chat page.
Ask and you shall receive!
Well here you go, it was much easier than I thought it would be to convert to QVGA. The diamond style fonts I used did not show up well at all so I changed to a more QVGA friendly font. Made a few other changes to the placement of graphics. Compressed the files down even more which makes the theme very snappy, it pops up right away.
Check the first post for the download.
Enjoy!!
Edit: Just noticed that EvgeniyKo has uploaded a qvga version. Thank you for attempting to covert! So everyone is clear, the download on the first post does not have the sms chat problem and is compressed further for faster loading times. Thanks again EvgeniyKo!
Small tweak to qvga fonts
Hi scottcrsi. Thanks for the qvga...luvin' it!. Found that if I tweaked the .ini file from EvgeniyKo and simply replaced the Helvetica with Segoeui it read more crisply on my tytnII. I have attached the SprintFlo.zip in case others want to experiment. Increased the line font size too. Again, many thanks! Swapped out Burt's and back the the all-original!

yes thats the one i downloaded and, not only the sms bubbles, but the options to change themes, and to select pocketcm as a default app isnt there anymore, also when i start pocketcm after closing it, it wont come up but i believe thats just a problem with the program have you experienced this same problem??? It was softkeyed to my manila 2d "all People" softkey under the contaxts tab, and cant get my random access contacts back, tried to uninstall pocketcm and it wouldnt, i am trying to avoid hard resetting my device but at this point it looks like i have to unless i come up with a solution for this, any ideas???

I don't think you need to hard reset...did you extract the contents of SprintFLOv0.1qvga.zip to the \Program Files\PocketCM folder? That will create a folder called SprintFLO and a file called SprintFLO.zip.
How well does the integration of this version of PocketCM work with Manila 2d? Currently I have Icontact installed (Bert Edition) and it integrates great with Manila 2d. Is there something that needs to be modified to get it work with the "All People" soft key?
Thanks
how about the fact that pocketcm wont start up after i close it down is the any solution for that, btw sorry for all the questions i really want this to work, its the best theme ive seen for pocketcm yet

Updates:
V3
- Added transparent slider
- Fixed internet tab highlight
- Fixed some buttons not being skinned
V2
- Fixed "new favorite" icon in people tab
- Removed panelscreen home icon, added seperate cab to install
Installation:
- Download the attached .zip file.
- Unzip the .cab file to your phone or SD card.
- Run the cab file on your phone and install to main memory (SD card should work, but untested.)
- The installation will tell you to restart, do this.
Uninstallation:
If for any reason reason at all (though there's none I can think of ) you would like to uninstall this skin;
* On ROM-installed TF3D, just uninstall the cab as you would do with any program. It will revert back to the normal skin after reboot.
* On CAB-installed TF3D, uninstall the cab as you would do with any program, download the original manila skin as attached to this thread and run it. Then reboot.
Features:
- Full WVGA theme, all tabs
- Smaller, retextured clock
- Textured panel image
- Transparent slider
Known issues (V3):
None at the moment.
Notes:
- Contents of stock tab not textured in order to keep it easy to use.
- Sub menu's are slightly modified (e.g. settings and music album), not fully.
- No support for Singh's 15-tab (yet). There's been only one request and due to manila being fairly complex, it takes a lot of time to incorporate it into this skin.
Acknowledgements:
Pama - Transparant slider
Guap - Clock line removal
Looks dope, very nice work. I'll definitely have to give it a go on my X1. I'm slowly putting together a TF3D theme as well so I know it takes alot of time to get it just right, especially since the way HTC coded it is so damn whack.
I've left all the green highlights on the one I'm working on so not sure what manila file that one is for the internet tab but I'll holler if I come across it.
Again great job with your theme!
Cheers. I'll now start working on a complementary skin for the landscape fix chalid made. Won't take that long to make, but CAB will be added. Also, here's a screenshot of the panel interface with my skin CAB.
Landscape mode now supported, see first post for thread link!

Funny thing, that! I uninstalled and totally wrecked my TF3D. When i open the panel, it keeps sitting at the white screen with the text 'loading'. If i install Shadowsong back it works again. So i guess Shadowsong's uninstallation is removing files that are required by TF3D!
msalmank, do you have a TF3D that installs by ROM, or just the cab version?
I happily posted that the files are automatically replaced, but ofcourse that's only the case with ROM installed TF3D!
Basically, this overwrites your base skin files; so uninstall removes everything.
I will package the stock skin files tomorrow, when I have time for it.

I don't use a custom ROM, so TF3D was installed by a CAB file. I would really appreciate it if you would create a CAB file that installs everything to default.
BTW - the main reason i was uninstalling was not 'coz i didn't like the skin, i actually liked it a lot... but the reason was that it was replacing my Today Panel's image in the Panel selection screen... which is kind of annoying especially since i am using TF3D as a seperate panel and not on the Today screen. Could you possibly tell me what files to remove from the device in order for it to revert to the Today screen image instead of the skin's image?

Yes, no problem. I will fix that by creating two seperate CAB's. Will post as soon as I've got time to fix this.
V2 is up! Check first post for more information. A small note is that the regular manila files don't have the background included at this time. I will fix this asap.
EDIT: Decided to do a thorough job and fixed the background as well, manually with a non-standard file, but works perfectly.
very nice work there, hope to see more from you, maybe an 15 tab version, that would be awsome..
clearly one of the nicest skins out there.

I can add support for 15 tab if you like. I just don't use that myself as it's just a tad too buggy and the tabs just a tad too useless. ^_^ Did consider it though. Just give me a heads up if you want it and I'll start work when I get time.

Hey, I've been too busy with many other things so haven't had time to fix up a version 3 yet. I've added an ETA in the first post. I did release a new landscape mode which is worth looking at, so I'd say check it out. Again, first post for more info!
Sorry for the long delay, had to put this on a sidetrack as I was too busy with my landscape app and other things. This is going to receive a thorough update soon.
looks great! Can't wait for v3!
Actually, it'll be 2.1, and I'll mostly be fixing stuff up / making stuff just a tad prettier. Won't be anything major.
I've basically got the fixes I had in mind ready. Now I'm working on two seperate complementary cabs - one for Singh's 15 tabs and one for my landscape mode.
That way, users will be able to choose what they do and do not want to install.
Will also be adding a full package that installs basically everything.
Update! Check out the first post for info and downloads. =]
were you aiming for a plastic look when you created the theme?
plastic isn't very exclusice imho =)

Known issue #1
Lanscape will look like this if you enable the clock
will try to have a fix soon *** thanks to Aaron McCarthy for reporting the error and for the IMG
Known issue #2
**solved** Theme has trouble with manila 2.5 icons (see IMG below) -- if you have this problem download the "2.1 - no icons" cab below (2.0 must be uninstalled before 2.1 can be installed)
2.1 - no icons.cab is currently beta and may not work with all icon packs. also the email and messages icon in the contact card may not match when you select them
****DO NOT download 2.1 unless you have already tried 2.0 and got the icon error, 2.0 Full is still considered complete theme, 2.1 is the icon corrected version of 2.0 meant for people who get the error below***

-Attached as "Hero Backdrop v2.zip" because i realized the link was converted to .jpg and had bad quality

is it possible to make the clock a seperate cab?
actually its just the stock clock and a background image that matches the panoramic theme (look at the video) is used to make the box.
I'm trying to see if i can actually build the clock to look like that but so far no such luck as manila doesn't seem setup to handle that layout
Feel free to try it out, as stated above files are un-installable (so long as your not using a different theme already) and it creates a much more appealing and dynamic experience in touchflo than stock (plus its not as gloomy)
Thank you! And you can do the same but for WVGA?
Wow very nice. Thanks for the hard work
This is very nice! Thanks...
Is it possible to make landscape use the same wallpaper as the portrait mode?

I'll see if i can put a test cab together for WVGA Panorama in the next few days, i don't have WVGA myself so i'm going to have to rely on testers

i dont believe you did this step...
2. an image will be placed in your "My Documents" folder on the device. using TF3D's settings tab set this as your background in touchflo (image is called wallpaper.png)
now on to my issue, i installed V2 cab for VGA & the slider does not show up how its pictured in the screenies. its simply a grey slider that does not show my tab icons. interesting. please check out my screenshot & let me know what i did wrong or how to correct the slider image

I actually noticed this today on a firends divice (he's helping me develop the WVGA backgrounds) I think the theme has trouble if you have the manila 2.5 icons.. it doesn't seem to replace them properly. i'll see if i can work up a fix
get back to you soon (for now i'm just going to list it as a known issue). you don't have to uninstall the theme as the fix will probably just be an addon cab
thank you sir, i will look forward to an update! or fix!

thanks for the update just saw that today i'll work on it.
in the mean time can you confirm the following with your device (this is what i saw on the test Xperia X1)
- Panning seemed to work perfectly, just when it stops on a tab the image drops down to only cover 1/2 the screen.
- and Landscape seems to be functioning perfectly.
WVGA is getting close
How can i get the icons? I installed the cab but i can not get the icons. I am getting them grey.
well done friend... here works perfect (dia duit rom) but the background image isn't show, of course I tried many times to load in
just a suggestion:: you should compress the png with pngcrush (freeware) with these parameters: pngcrush -d c:\temp -rem alla -brute *.png
even if the best thing should be compress as JPG trough jdo (another freeware)
doing so the BG picture will be less fatter & of course will take less ram
for example porting the png to jpg & compressing with jdo your bg file goes from 148kb to 47kb...

update posted, please download 2.1 from 2nd post
currently VGA only
I just installed 2.1 but I'm still getting the solid gray slider. I'm currently running the latest EnergyROM Genesis on an AT&T Fuze. Other than that, this is a very solid theme. Thanks for your work.

Original TF3D theme?

Okay hey guys. So earlier I updated my rom to winmo 6.5 with I think manila 2.1
Well I don't like the new tf3d theme on it Its the one withthe coloured pictures. I much preferred the old black one. Does anyone have a copy of it kicking around somewhere?
Thanks, Chris

+1.. the colors just don't match with the device.. too much green in it
i'm also looking for the original skin (unbranded tp2, so it's the plain black and white one)
btw sergio, great job on your theme
@ChrissehB and @true2you
I can help you guys out. I have a backed up set of the manila files from the official WinMo 6.1 ROM. I'll just make a cab of the main slider for you. I should be able to have it ready in a day or 2.
Here's a question though. There's a large image of the tab icon when you hold your finger over a tab. That image was 128x128 in the 6.1 ROM. Do you want it to stay that size? I ask because, the new Manila in the 6.5 ROM has those images in 256x256. If you want them larger, than the image quality may be reduced from the upscaling.
I think this is what im looking for also... who the heck made the Sprint Touch Pro 2 theme? Looks horrible!
I am looking for the original Sprint Touch Pro theme... just black and white. Hopeully this is it here. Oh and also the white flip clock

A couple of things to note:
1. This cab package includes only 36 manila files. 12 of them are for the small images on the slider. 12 of them are for the large image that appears when you tap and hold on a tab. 12 of them are for the small images that appear on the active tab.
2. The large images that appear when you tap and hold on a tab may look a little fuzzy because they were upscaled. But honestly, it's not that bad.
3. They were upscaled because of the calendar tab. The new calendar tab has the date. So it was impossible to fit the large numbers on the original smaller image. Also because of the date, I modded the calendar icon a bit. I removed the crease that was originally on the lower right corner.
4. This was tested on my unlocked European TP2 with HTC's official WinMo 6.5 ROM.

Awesome... but i cant seem to make it work on mine The slider tabs have tiny pics and the lil scroll thingy looks the same as my previous one.
Any way u can give me all the individual pics?
Im gonna try load them up on an HD wallpaper Creator and make a cab.. see if that works.

What you're seeing is to be expected because this isn't made for the version of Manila that you have. This is specifically for the Manila version that comes with HTC's official WinMo 6.5 ROM (v2.1.19193517.0). Differences include colored main slider icons, clock with weather on home tab, and larger tab preview images.
Anyway, I would send you the image files you need but I'm on the road for the following week. But I'm aware that what you're looking for was posted here in these forums previously. Have a search around.

I absolutely LOVE you for this!
I can confirm that this slider works on Atom's Fusion 5.2 (TF2.1) and on Agent_47s FirestormTR v4 ROM
i must say, what you did is more than great, now my phone looks like a real tp2 again, and not like a funny looking hd2 clone, plus the icons quality is great, even after the resizing and the calender icon.. looks perfect
--> works perfectly on a non-branded euro tp2 (french, with the official winmo 6.5 rom)
ps : the thread starter sould put it on the first post...
THANKS A LOT OHYEAHAR!!! u rock

Hi:
Just installed. Large icons look just fine. Really no noticeable distortion.
However the slider icons appear really tiny (except for the currently selected tab). Any idea how I can fix this?
Or, does anyone know of another icon set which I may have better luck with?
Also, does anyone know why my slider highlight (?) for currently selected tab is always blue (original ATT theme color)? Any way to change it?
Thanks so much!!

This isn't for the Manila version you have on your device. The Manila version this is for has the following:
-weather forecast and animation on the home tab
-enlarged tab preview icons (256x256) when you hover over them (rather than the 128x128 icons in previous builds)
