Hello all, just got my magic and i kinda found out that i must have the hero rom.

But since im kinda new to both flashing room and android i whant to be sure i do all thing correct.
So what should i do to prepare this (backup of my standard rom) and so on, and is there a guide to install that rom i whant?
Decided to make a new thread instead of posting in the Htc hero ROM thread since i need info about both how to install it and how to prepare the install and it can be abit hard to read trough 10 pages of "thanks for the great rom" and "... is missing / not working".

Depending on what version you have, but if you have a Rogers this is the guide I used. Very easy to fallow, if it's not a Rogers I think you can still use the guide just use the proper SPL for your phone. And this is the ROM I used, again for the Rogers branded. Hope that helps you out.

I have a 32A Magic (Only HTC not vodafone), and I want to root it. My problem is that after reading a lot of topics I have a doubt.
First of all I don't know if the procedure of the 32B (Vodafone Magic) is the same for the 32A, I mean, I can do the same procedure with the same files.
Second, even I found a lot of rooting guides, I wasn't able to find any guide explained step by step or more clearly that the ones I've found already...
I know that this kind of question might have been asked before, but I've already searched in the forums with no real succes.
Please, can anybody give me a hand. Thanks a lot in advance for the pattience...

The onlye problem is that my magic is not a rogers magic, it's and HTC Magic with no brand at all (Only HTC)...

i have done everything to do custom rom but failed
flashrec does'nt work
PSAS does'nt creates gold card for saphire i hve tried so many cards even i have purchased PSAS
is there anyway to flash custom rom

Your stuck,.. this perfected spl is still unrootable. You'll have to wait and pray that the new 2.1 update from Rogers will offer a rootable spl. Rogers has meet some end-user to talk about the Android issues and what we the customers want from them for our android.

Who said there aren't any custom roms for this! Oh there are plenty of roms for this. I suggest you do some research and maybe you'll understand things a bit more, such as you can't FLASH any roms.

Yes they did manage to make custom rom from the Rogers RUU update BUT your mixing things up.
The HBOOT from the Rogers RUU is a perfected spl. If you flashed your phone with that RUU your screwed. This spl is not a "engineering" so it won't allow you to boot in recovery or send fastboot command to manipulate it. This particular spl is not affected by some old bug that could make it rootable. Goldcards also does not work on it. Your now stuck on this spl and will not be able to flash ANY custom rom on it. That's why you need to wait for the next Rogers RUU update for 2.1 and that it will have a engineering spl (or hackable spl) that will allow you to install custom roms. Only engineering spl can allow you to flash a new rom.

Unless i missed the latest news on this spl no... not even the GoldCard method works on this spl.

would be the official SenseUI if your phone is a 32A
if your phone is a 32B, i found no link how you can get the official rom without a perfect SPL
but if you install a update from www.htc.com, you will never be able to install another rom EVER....so pay attention

Ok, i understood, but i said that i actually have perfect spl with 32 A, so your tutorial would be well. Can you tell me if that tutorial needs root. And what version of android will i have after i will do this tutorial?
oops, i missed that sentence..but please post the full SPL version, there are perfect SPL's that can be fixed with a goldcard, and there is also a perfect SPL that cannot be upgraded...
also, i would suggest you a stable rom like SuperD, it's super fast and has nearly no bugs

1) this is the wrong section
2) is your phone rooted?
3) if not find the thread to root you phone.
4) once rooted look for a hero rom that is for 32a and radio 3.22

Hi,
Since I bought my HTC Magic (from Vodafone in Portugal) I updated it to a new official software version which is this:
SAPPHIRE PVT 32A SHIP S-ON H
HBOOT-1.76.0009 (SAPPP10000)
CPLD-12
RADIO 6.35.08.29
However, this is a perfect SPL. Now, I want to root and flash my mobile and I can't. I followed the steps in Rooting the SPL 1.76.0009 thread and got an error.
So, what I was asking is if any of you has any old official update of HTC (the ones which you update just by pressing next a few times on your PC and it does it all for you) that will downgrade my mobile to any previous version so that I could flash it from there.
