My HTC Prophet won't boot with the SIM in it.
When i take the sim card out, it boots with no problems.
I've tried several roms, (5.0, 6.1 and 6.5) still got problems.
It gets to the Qtek screen (blue splash) and when it's about to start loading the OS, it just shuts down (screen goes black, about 4 seconds later the LED turns off)
What should i do?
(ive also tried hard reset, no help.)
EDIT :
Now the phone won't boot with the SIM inside either, it seems if i leave the battery out for a while, it will boot.
It shuts down automaticly too after a while.
EDIT 2 :
I have found a temporarily solution.
Take the battery out, leave it without power for about 5 minutes, then it boots up perfectly without any problems.
Gonna keep watching it.
Sim card works on other phones? have you tried with an other sim card?
Replace battery.

Soft reboots about 1 time per half hour now. Seems to have a hard time coming back to life after shutting down--flickering screen also the orange charge light goes off. Just happened again. This sucks.
Could be related to the charging function??
Did you installed any suspicious software lateley?
Have you tried a hard-reset? (do a backup first)
Now its hard rebootng by itself.
Its hard rebooting byitself now.
No new software. Looks like a trip to the shop where i bought it for service.
Pressing the power switch does a hard boot now.
Checking now the reset button--could be jammed.
On about the 10th hard reset--every time it completes installing and thenas soon as i press the on/off button it goes haywire
-or even before presing the buttton.
i have a similar problem, but i turned out to be that:
one my battery is dead, i cant recharge (charger at home)
i plug an external charger that uses 4 AA batteries...
it works fine, BUT when those 4 start to die, the xda
keep softreseting, somtimes even b4 it fully get booted.
so... check your main battery, maybe its dying on you!
Interesting!!
Took the unit to the shop today--they played around and at one point insisted that it was my sim card that was causing the problem.
Finally could see that the secondary battery had gone to 0% and was not recharging.
So in had to leave it there for extended service. Had to buy another mobile phone to use as a backup--bought the smallest thing i could find as I will use it at times i dont want to lug around the xda.
...you know, that could be true too, there is a small switch by the sim card, that if not pressed firmly, it resets the device.
a common problem if you remove the sim card often.
Hello dear XDA-dev members;
I had a problem this morning with my Wizard. I have a G3 device which i had downgraded to Button ROM for unlocking etc. It was working really fine until this morning. Last night i have turned off the phone radio (wireless and bluetooth was not enabled)and the battery was charged almost at %60.
This morning i woke up, i saw that he was entered in USB recovery mode itself. (the screen with red, green, blue, with my IPL 1.0 / SPL 1.0) , i was terrified because nobody touched my phone. Then i have pushed over power button, it shut-down. I've just waited a few minutes then i've just pushed again over power button, it started with my windows mobile 5 splash screen and showing my ipl/spl. the screen is really bright at this moment but fades out, when he started to fade out, he just shut-down itself.
I've read and searched over the forum, and though that it was my battery which was dead. I've plugged it with wall charger and waited almost one hour, and the charger led was red. I've tried to turn on, he just came on and go over my Today screen! and the charger led turned to green. Almost 45 seconds later the phone turned off itself. I've tried to re-start but it's same. I'm getting windows splash screen, and the screen brightness starts to fade out and the phones shuts down.
I've tested my battery with a volt-meter, i'm getting 4.86 volts. i have also checked power pins inside the phone, i'm also getting power there (4.6 volts) when it's connected with wall-charger, so i think that it's fine.
I have tried to hard reset, pushing communication + voice command button + soft reset button, i had the black screen, he said that it was ok, but same here. I was running with Button rom as i said before. (1.05)
Please help.
if you still can get into bootloader, it should be fine
It was entered into bootloader mode itself. When i'm trying to start it, the splash screen comes on, it shows WM5 and my IPL/SPL and 20 seconds after, it shut down. I really need help because it's my only phone that i own.

Have you had your phone more than a year? It may be the battery.
Replacement batteries cost only $5 on ebay or Amazon. Just get a battery so you can be sure that isn't the problem. In any event, you will probably need a new battery so you may as well try this.

I've gone to buy a new battery, but it's the same thing. It just shuts-down irregullary at splash screen, or today screen.
Some faults in memory result in the device needing to soft reset in an attempt to reclaim memory. Perhaps you could try flashing to another rom. I dont own a g3 so I cant really advise you any further.
Mine not exactly like you but automatic bootloader or stuck at IPL screen. It was out of nowhere but thought a bad flash. When trying the hard reset, it would come as "failed".
Nearly threw phone thinking too old and dead but this came to rescue. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=276963. If not tried, give it a shot.

hi, sorry to disturb with an usual question around here, (yep, i used the search function) i got a hd2 about 3 hours ago (TMOUS, T-mobile below the speaker and red and green buttons)
so, i went to support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-1173 and download the .exe in step 4, i open it with winrar and try it to make the SD upgrade, format (8 gig sd micro in fat32) and reboot the phone in bootloader mode (vol down and power, and yes, i rename it too)
(NOTE: the page asked for my imei, i entered the one behind the battery and it gave me the download link)
the phone innmediately started upgrading.
it get stuck at 8-10% of the upgrade for about 15 mins... in a stupid moment, i took the battery off and put it again... you know, to try again.
No lights, no vibrate, no screen, nothing, tried the usb battery charger, nothing, tried the wall battery charger, nothing, not a led in the phone, and is still dead, the pins are ok, i checked that about for 30 times, noooooooothing.
the software package name is: T-Mobile_HD2_MR_Software_3.14.531.1. (it´s an .exe)
Any ideas? please? anyone?
other things:
no softreset
no hardreset
doesn´t charge
battery seems fine (it was about 75% when i try the first upgrade)
oh, sidenote: i tried to install the stock ...firmware? because the cell was stuck on "stick togheter" and was trying to unblock it, and the "insert code to unlock" never came up, btw (if this is relevant) i was trying to boot the phone with and without incorrect sim, and got stuck, with and without sd memory, and same, only about three times in around 3 hours, the phone booted normal into windows 6.5 and launch htc sense, that´s why my guess was that the guy that sold me the phone make a mistake upgrading it.
ok... i think that´s it. Sorry for the choppy english, it´s 2.30 in the morning around here =P
Any one got an idea? Thanks in advance!

After months of various SD cards not working (phone not detecting them, bootloops when they're inserted, etc), I eventually decided to try out one last SD card that I know works with my brother's phone. Inserting the SD card wouldn't let the phone boot up, as I expected. But even removing the SD card fails to rectify the problem. Now, whenever I try to turn on my phone, the area near the SoC package gets very hot, and I have to remove the battery to power it off and let it cool down. The screen stays blank, and nothing seems to work. I have found out that plugging the phone in while the battery is removed and then reinserting the battery while the phone is still plugged in shows the battery charging icon, but the screen quickly goes blank after that.
Be honest, do I have a bricked phone? Or is there a way to somehow get it to boot, at least into recovery? I have the ZE551KL model.
if u still have warranty asus should take care of ur phone. from what u discribed there is a Short circuit on ur motherboard i don't know if it is possible to repair or not but it is definitly inside ur phone
Hi!
The phone was working fine up till yesterday.
I left it charging, only to find it stuck with the red LED on. It would not respond to button presses, and the LED stayed on even after being unplugged.
I took the battery out, put it back in, didn't want to boot. I took the battery out again, left it out for a few minutes, it booted with an unfamiliar message "Could not do normal boot" or something along those lines. After a restart it booted normally.
I used the phone normally the whole day, but after leaving it charging, same thing happened, but resolved it with leaving the battery out for a few minutes.
Phone worked fine from there on.
Left it charging before bedtime, found it stuck again in the morning, but this time, no way to boot.
I changed batteries, left it without battery for quite some time, nothing.
The phone is rooted, running a custom ROM, flashed sometime last year. Had no problems until now.
What do you recommend?
Seems like it could be the eMMC error.
I was extremely unlucky and it died completely in just one day since the error manifested
If you have any suggestions on how to revive it, please share!
I tried cool it in the freezer, didn't help
Note 4 won't charge or boot - Fixed
Hello,
My note four recently started running sluggishly and the battery would only charge to 77%. I rebooted it and it was now stone dead, would not charge, boot , nada. This is the fix I found that worked for me:
Take out battery, sim card, and mem card. Install back cover. Place phone in ziplock sandwich bag and seal. Place bag into freezer for 20 minutes. Remove bag/phone from freezer, reassemble battery, sim and mem cards. Press the start key and phone should boot(mine did). If not, plug into Samsung fast charger and try booting again.
