What is the doubletwist app whose setup file comes on the HD2 storage card?
It looks like it is not an app for the phone, but for the PC. Something to do with multimedia.
Anyone here tried it? What exactly does it do? Any good?
it's a multimedia sync application, will sync your media files from your PC to your phone, but IMHO Windows Media does just as well. I ended up just deleting the files off the SD... use the space for other things
Doubletwist
Its like iphone for HTC...
I've tried it and like activesync better.
I just manually move stuff over to the card & organize it myself.
+1 ActiveSync / Manual
-666 DoubleTwist / Windows Media

Is there a way to connect the TF101 to my computer as a mass storage device? Right now I end up with "Transformer TF101" as a portable media player in My Computer - It would be much more helpful to get the behaviour of my smartphone (just looks like another drive connected to coputer).
You know, I was wondering the same thing. I have been annoyed with having to move information to the tablet then to the meida storage device. Don't ask about my lack of an SD card reader. I had one that worked and now it appears like it doesn't.
Regardless this is is something I was hoping for. Moving information to the SD card, w/o a reader, shouldn't really be a two transfer process.
Anyone been able to resolve this issue? My Win7 laptop sees the TF like a USB drive but my WinXP desktop can't direct copy/paste with the TF.
Hi anyone sort this? My Win7 PC always sees it as a media player and never as mass storage this really cripples data transfer rates, really would like some help.
I need to test this, but maybe multi mount from the market will do the trick.

Honeycomb uses the MTP protocol rather than USB mass storage. It does this to avoid having to kludge apps2sd as they have in phone versions of Android.
To the poster with XP, XP doesn't support MTP out of the box but it is added with Windows Media Player 9+.

So outside of rooting is there no way to get mass storage on a windows 7 pc?

By the way, epic fail. Dosen't even recognize that it's connected to a computer, asks for the USB cable :-\
Was worth a try.

Is there a way to do this inside of rooting??
I'd seen mention of it being done on xoom's with rooting but didn't look into it deeply so that was the reason for wording it that way. Really sucks that wifi explorer is a faster transfer method than plugging into usb.
use wifi explorer, available in the market. you can view the contents of your SD card in the browser of your computer, upload, download, change folders etc. Saves you the hassle of using a cable as well.

Using Astro file manager, there's a Samba share plugin. Create a share on your PC and you should be able to access it

It doesn't show as one of the drives, if you're using Windows 7, it is listed under "Other", not sure about other OSes.
even under "Other" there's "Mobile Device" which is empty and "ASUS WebStorage Drive" there's nothing other than that ...
also there's another problem "ASUS Android USB Driver" doesn't install for some reason ... everytime i try it fails

Tried using a different USB port? Also, the Transformer's screen must be on when you plug it in. I noticed if it is on standby/screen off, the USB stops working.
the driver from ASUS Sync doesn't install ...
install the Asus Sync software

see if that helps

Download the driver only package from ASUS's site and do a manual install using Device Manager
Get a u SD card and transfer data to it. Then stick in TF.
yup that's what i did ... i took a 2gb sd card just to test it out and it worked perfectly !! i'm gonna keep the internal storage for apps and get a new sd card for music and photos and movies !!
I wonder if something like the NookColorUMS app that allows mounting of any partition would work for the Transformer. I too am unable to get the ASUS software to see my Transformer in the sync software when plugged in.
I either pull the microSD and toss it in my laptop or plug in the USB cable. When the Eee Pad is connected it is actually shown twice in the remove USB devices.

For now this is the easiest way to transfer files but it's a pain if I want to transfer to internal memory, basically transferring files twice. What USB devices do you see? All I see is the ADB listed.
There's an app for that
software data cable
Install ES File Manager from the Market
Share the drive on your computer.
Go to the LAN tab on ES File Manager and copy the file(s)
Go to Local on ES File Manager and Paste.
I used wifi explorer pro, it's like a buck but you can transfer files wireless over the network. Kind of a hassle though now that I just use dropbox.
or
Download and sign up for drop box https://www.dropbox.com/referrals/NTY4MDQ5MTk?src=referrals_fb_post9
It's free. You install it on your Tablet and on your PC. Whatever you put in the dropbox folder (music, pictures etc), it automatically upload to account and you sync with your tablet tablet. It's an amazing piece of software and more convenient than using a sd card. . If you do decide to use dropbox, use my referral links above so we both get more space.

Only the referee gets more space (unless they changed their policy)
I've had wifi file explorer and dropbox forever and they do work good but for large transfers or speed you need to use usb.
As I said before if someone could make an app like the one for the nook color where you can mount any partition, even system partitions, that would be perfect.

A higher end but very effecient option is to get aTonido Plug (small unix server) and a hard drive and attach to your network. Then you have access to everything on the drive on your wireless network or via internet. I have 1 Tb space virtually attached to my TF.
Was wondering about everyone's thoughts about this new feature. Personally I think it's crap. I can't view/read ANY files from the sd cards unless I FIRST transfer them to my mac...GAY! Why can't we just mount the SD cards like the GS2???
Can you please explain because I'm having this issue managing files from the sd

Basically, the mac tells me I have to transfer a file to the mac to view it....which sucks. With phones like the Galaxy S2, I was able to plug in and mount the sd cards and it would act like any other USB mass storage external memory drive.
I'm not quite understanding what you mean by "mac". This issue is KILLING me. I can't even find my sd card unless I use the built I file manager

It's due to the way that Ice Cream Sandwich handles the Memory. It's always live in the system. The only way to access the Memory is through MTP. There is an advantage of using such because it means that if your phone is formatted ext4 (speed increases if I am not mistaken) you can take advantage of that and still access the data. Both Windows and Linux support MTP, unfortunately Apple has not implemented such even though devices are starting to use MTP more these days.
For Further reading go here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Media_Transfer_Protocol
From reading the site, there is a 3rd party implementation, not sure how up to date it is, but you might be able to make it work.
http://www.wentnet.com/projects/xnjb/ check that out to see if you can enable MTP on your mac which would reduce the need for Android File Transfer.
Also it has been a while since I have used Mac but you might be able to use these instructions to install a Ubuntu supported MTP software on your mac through X11 (allows you to run linux software on your mac) http://www.humans-enabled.com/2011/12/how-to-fix-samsung-galaxy-nexus-mtp.html
One final link.... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1355913
Thanks very much. I'm looking into it now
Ok.. I am using the Android File Transfer program and I can copy individual files to/from my GS3 BUT I cannot create folders for some reason. Even with the +Folder button. The error message reads: "Could not create folder. Try reconnecting or restarting your device." (Obviously I have done both multiple times.
Any thoughts?
on my PC it shows up as a portable media device and allows me to access both internal and SD memory
i did install the galaxy s3 drivers found on the rooting guides though

I can't get Android File Transfer to work with my Galaxy S3 running CM9 (or CM10, for that matter), either using MTP or using the camera setting. This is really annoying. Anyone know of a way to get it to work? I really wish that USB mounting still worked, so I wouldn't be required to use client software.
It works fine on my mac at work and I have a 5 year old macbook pro. It's not all that bad. I just use it to transfer files when I'm at work.

All I did was install the app and it popped up a window that displayed sdcard and phone. Each option displays a list of the content on that storage device.

Hi
Using my Nexus 4 and 10 at the moment, when i plug them in its accessing the storage via a media device. I need the device to be accessed by a drive letter so i can copy files from XBMC.
XBMC can see file shares and drives but cant see the media device...
Any ideas?
Thanks
N
I'm currently using an app called Airdroid (with Chrome browser) to transfer files on and off the Nexus 4. MTP transfers are not well supported on Linux.

I use Total Commander as file browser. With LAN plugin you can manage devices in your LAN (also stream from them).
I think it's pretty good also as file browser too.
