Hello all,
I am looking for an application of some sort that can mute the ringtone (incoming call) using the g-sensor ... by turning the TP2 upside-down.
The Nokia 5800 XM has this feature.
Since I am a complete N00B I hope someone can help.
Thanks in advance and keep up the good work
Cbx
yeah nice idea
Why dont you just try it.. See what happens..
Yes, it supports this feature by default..
Or didn't you mean when you have an incoming phone call?
Double post
LOL
Indeed it features this function by default ! So sorry !!!!
I tried it before, but I flipped it the wrong way.
Post can be closed
I thought this is a standard in the TP2
Sorry just noticed the post date.
Reduce volume?
I recently saw the Leo feature regarding incoming call sound: when you just take the phone in hand while it's ringing (move the phone), the volume of ring tone fades out to minimum, still audible, not 100% silent as when you flip the phone over.
Can we do similar thing to our Rhodium?

Hi Guys
Another basic question here. I can see how I can set the phone to ring, how to set it to vibrate, and how to make it be totally silent. My question is, can you make the phone ring AND vibrate for an incoming call? When I select ring in the control panel, it makes the vibrate option vanish. Please tell me this is possible!
Regards,
Andrew
In Settings/Personal/Sounds & Notifications you hit the notifications tab at the bottom.
Under 'Event', choose "Phone: Incoming call"
Under 'Type', choose "Vibrate and ring" or "Vibrate then ring"
You can also do all this in Settings/Personal/Phone.. first tab..
I reccomend exploring your phone before asking something like this. I'm not trying to be mean or anything, but you could have found this extreamly easily just by looking at all the options you can choose from in the settings window/list.
Thank you very much v1rone. Don't worry, no offense taken.
I have been looking for this feature for a while now and didn't post as a first resort. This phone is just so different from my last one (SE P990) that it's taking me a while to get to grips with it. I had seen that screen before, but for some reason, I didn't notice that middle drop down and saw vibrate as a tick box for all the other things in the top drop down so I assumed it wasn't possible for phone calls.
Anyway, it's all sorted now, thank you very much for your guidance.
BTW, when clicking on the "notifications" tab at the bottom, it takes ages for the tab to come up. This has only been since I upgraded to the new R2 firmware. On the older R1 firmware, it still took a while, but not nearly as long as it does now. Just thought I'd mention it.
Yeah, mine does the same thing when trying to get into that tab. Not sure what the deal is there.
I haven't flashed any of the new R2 roms yet. It's possible that the R2 versions have more files in the windows folder, causing this application to take longer when seeking out all the settings it needs to display it's window. Not sure..
I have absolutely zero evidence to backup this statement seeing that I haven't peeked into the updated rom files yet, but who knows
Sounds plausible
on another note, any way to make the X1i ring and vibrate in a sane manner . . . the vibration is sort of insane lol
anyone know of any app/program to control this?
thanks

Try VAlert, cab should be somewhere on these forums.
As seen on Sony Ericsson W380 Gesture control
"Another novel feature of the W380 is its gesture control. Switch this feature on and you will be able to silence incoming calls or snooze alarm clocks by simply passing the palm of your hand above the sensor"
Well maybe this is a long shot but anyone has any idea if a program like that exists on WinMo?
Well as far as I see Sony made this Feature with help of a proximity-sensor and the only Phone/PDA I know which has one is the TouchPro 2
But there are a lot of Apps which let you silence Calls (built-in in most htc devices) and let you snooze alarm clocks by shaking or turning the Phones, also they let you unlock your Device and soooo much more funny things =)
give it a shot

yeah, but without touching the device? i guess if there is an app that enables camera when phone rings this thing can be done
Well you're free to try but i don't think you're chances of success are high
good luck

you can execute camera app with mortscript on the incoming call i think.
i think the i900 has proximity sensor......
sorry it doesnt.......
i8000 Omnia2 has it!
yup thats right..........
does it have it as a device you mean or does it work as an application?
...
think best/easiest way on HD wouldbe light sensor on top.
So on incoming call it should check if there is a short light-interruption.
Prob:
just works if phone shows face up on your desk
And won't work if room is dark (perhaps could work other way round - if it's too dark - check for short light notice, reflected by your hand from display)
otherwise is would be to hard and battery intensive cause you have to check both cameras (back and front) for changes.
I know silencing without touching it sound interesting but its a bit too playful for me.
Cause pressing vol down button is fastes way to silence.
Another way already included in some progs is turning phone face down to silence - think it's as stylish as waving to your phone.

FTouchSL has some screen based user definable gesture controls and is an extremely useful app, but no proximity controls.

so g-sensor can be used also. i think it's used by g-alarm on snooze, anyone seen it for silence also?
On my Kaiser, when I got a text message a long MP3 would play which I could cancel by pressing the Red call hang up button.
Very annoyingly on the HD2 there doesn't seem to be any way to stop the MP3 so it just keeps on playing for a few minutes. The hang up button just switches off the display but the song carries on playing.
Anyone have an idea for a workaround?
You simply cut the favorite part of your mp3 and use that as a ringtone?
Unfortunately it's not that simple. I need the whole MP3 to play until I cancel it.
As I need the text message to wake me up if sleeping or be heard from another room etc.
I don't have an HD2 yet, but can't you just turn it over to stop the tone?
Just tried that, doesn't work.
Duplicate post
Can't believe no-one else is being bugged by this problem?
the only way i found out is long pressing end call button and tap "set vibrate".. also pretty disappointed by this behaviour
This happens on all htc devices (and as far as i know on all windows mobile phones), your sms tone is set to ALERTS, meaning that it will play the whole song before it stops. I think you should switch to a shorter alert tone.
It doesn't happen on all windows phones as my Kaiser could stop the song, but I was using a newer 6.5 build I guess, although I did think all 6.5 roms had the capability of stopping the mp3.
does it still play when you've read the text msg?
Yes unfortunately it carries on playing.
then I've got nothing...
tried looking in settings under the sound and notifications?
Yes
I think it's just a fault that hasn't been fixed in 6.5 but has in 6.5.1. So once custom roms are out that will be a solution.
default notification
and whats the default SMS ringtone ,does it have a short one preinstalled?
Pressing the volume rocker used to stop this on my diamond
Has anyone with the new 1.61 rom found this problem has been fixed?

I got all my tracks in Storage Card/My Documents, when I change my ringtones they appear in the list.
I haven't found any solutions to stop the sms but when it is a calendar related the music stops as soon as you press dismiss or view the appointment, perhaps there is a key there that can be transferred to sms functions?
Hi there! I have a problem with S2U2 on my I8000 Omnia 2. I installed it, and tried it. It's a cool program, but the call screen is not working to me.
----------
I also have new problems with S2U2. smile.gif I don't care about the sliders anymore, I was turned all off. But when my phone rings, and I press the answer button, the phones keep ringing and not do anything. I can't accept calls with S2U2. Is this a known issue or someone have an idea how to fix this? Or I should use an other app like S2U2?

This messages copying modoco.
Try the latest S2U2 Release v2.30, works like a charm on my Omnia2.
Make sure to select RawBuffer as Graphics Mode. (Setting is located at Advanced S2U2 Settings page)
S2U2 was a real pain in the ^ss up until v2.30.
I haven't had any locking issues with the new version, but some serious battery drain have been spotted. I don't mind, since I have chargers at the car, the office and any other place I need it.
It takes like 13% percent of battery overnight when the phone sleeps.
Without S2U2 I can navigate with GPS for an hour for around 10%.
i am facing one serious problem when using S2U2.
original Samsung Omnia2 alarm does not work properly under S2U2.
sometime alarm ring properly. but sometime, only a very short "beep" then it stopped.
this happened especially during alarm in Snooze.
anyone know how to tackle this problem?
thank you in advance

I am using WM6.1 and problem with s2u2 (LATEST) is that while it locks the screen nicely, it leaves the ans/end hard key exposed. This creates problem when I accidentally press them while taking phone out of the pouch. For that I had to have other arrengements as mentioned in this forum. If you had no such issues, then your OS must be of a different version. I hate machine specific softwares.
Not true
Out of all HTC snobs here at XDA, A_C is the one who really cares. V2.22 was blazinly fast updated to V2.24 because of dimming issue on ... thats correct - Samsung Omnia II devices. So talking about device-specific software about S2U2 is so wrong and unfair.
I am facing a different problem with S2U2..
When I am listening to music through Touch Player, the song gets paused as soon as S2U2 activates, then I have to press the lock key and then the song plays again
When S2U2 is not running it plays the song flawless..
Any settings I need to change..?

But at the end of the day, it is not locking the ans/end lock keys which is a problem
Ps: I hv never owned an HTC
No need to use S2U2 now, I am using TouchLockPro, much much better, no more secondary gesture when power on, also the app is fully utilizing the G-sensor and the light sensor.

I had the same problem that was very annoying and some of the above too...The main reason I wanted s2u2 was because I didn't want the hardware key button answer call to be enable.Sometimes I was answering calls without knowing it because it was in my bag and with all the stuff in it the button was pushed by itself...From what i see samsung herself has slides for accept or end calls, why the hardware key buttons have to work too?Do you know any trick to disable them when the phone is locked...
Thanks i n advance!
I have the same problem with my Omnia.
Using latest S2U2 (2.43) and setting an alarm with the standard Samsung app.
I have tried most probably all combinations of s2u2 and alarm settings, without any luck.
Anyone ever found a solution for this ?
Im running MattC Leo Sense which uses a slide/lock for both the phone lock and to answer phone calls. I was able to change the phone lock slider from up/down to left/right but I want to do the same with answering phone calls.
What happens with incomming calls is someone calls me and I pull my phone straight up and out of my pocket. When I do this, the phone rejects the call because the phone rubs against my inside pocket and slids the answer/slide to reject phone call. If I could change the answer/slide from up/down to left/right then this wouldnt happen.
Does anyone have this issue and/or know of a fix?
Thanks

you can just set a screen lock on it and it doesnt show up until u unlock the screen lol.. thats wat i have or else it answers or ignores people in my pocket.. so with the connect the dot screen lock it just rings and shows u who it is until u unlock the screen...
Can you please tell me how you changed the unlocker from up/down to left/right. I would really appreciate.

same problem here, i've tryed the lockscreen tactic. but i find that very annoying. I have no program skills but there must be some guy who can make a small apk that deletes the slider and replaces it with nothing =) so i can just use the hard buttons on my HD2...
Just to bring the issue up again im still having massive problems with calls being ignored or answered (depends on which way the phone is in my pocket)
Anyway have any idea, ive tried widget locker but that only seems to apply to lock screen and not phone call screen.
This issue had anoyed me for a while as well. I have tried widget locker and that works great for the phone lock, but as mentioned earlier in this thread - not for the incoming call locker.
If someone fixes this for the sense based ROMs, they will be my hero!
cyanogen mod ROM includes the "slide to answer" from lockscreen window similar to "widget locker" app. i just wish they would include the option to add widgets and shortcuts to the lockscreen like widgetlocker does

I have the exact same problem, and looking for a fix.
same problem here
people hung up on me because phone answered in my pocket and they would hear noise while I'm removing it from my pocket/case >.>
setting a lock screen is so annoying, now I remove my phone carefully so I don't answer by mistake.
[edit] I've searched around the net, and downloaded a few new lock screens. there's one called "simply lock screen" it has an option to disable the slide to answer, and it will be replaced by the normal answer buttons you get when the device is not sleeping. it might work, but there's still chance that the answer/dismiss buttons will be pressed when you remove the device from the pocket
same problem here... no one has a clue yet?
the problem is htc sense...to avoid this problem i have switched to stock android builds...
There are a couple of apps out there that can help, the best I have found is Easy Answer Button. It is a bit tempermental, but if you install it as your last app after a fresh flash, it tends to work better - at least imho.
Others are Advanced Telephone (also free) and EZAnswer which will cost you a couple of bucks. (The link is to the 2 day trial).

Why don't you just delete htclockscreen.apk from system/app.
It will change sense up and down answer to left, right standard android lockscreen.
Use root explorer or the like and reboot afterwards to see changes.
