I use gps pda phone MIO A702
I can only use gprs only for a few minutes, after that the gprs is still connected but it can't upload n download any data
So I disconnect the gprs
but after that I try to reconnect n it can't connect anymore
I always get an error message when trying to use internet on my phone ("cannot connect for unknown reason"). After restarting the device it works fine again.
Can anyone tell me how I can solve this problem??

Hi,
Need some help on the subject. Recently have been in another country with the roaming on. Now every time i try to send or receive an MMS the XDA just says: "cannot connect.. if you use a modem to connect to your ISP, ensure that is inserted correctly. To connect to your network, you must create a modem (dialup) connection or a VPN connection. To create a connection tap settings".
Have done, but nothing seems to work.
At tools/options i see that the connect via is correct, BUT, connect to server just apears 2 networks from another country...
So, any change to delete all the settings and old networks so the sim can "read" from my network?
Any replys will be much obliged!

Hi folks
Been playing with my new O2 XDA II exec toy for a couple of days now and came across this forum.
I have a question;
I can connect fine with wireless, but if I either switch off wireless, or start Opera/Internet Explorer without any internet connection, the phone automatically tries to dial the GPRS connection number. This is annoying and I'd want the phone to do nothing or give an error if there is no internet connecttion available. How do I change this in the settings?
The only way to stop the OS from dialing a gprs or dial-up connection is to have none of them configured in the connection settings. Sometimes you even need to hard-reset to get rid of them as your device still 'remembers' the settings & connects the gprs while you have deleted all connections.

Can you untick the remember username and password box? Thats what I have done, and if it does try to connect it wond go past that.
Eeeeh,
my gprs ain't using user/password. R u referring dial-up?
Cheers, M
I just make a spoof GPRS connection called VJSpoof, with no details in it.
Select this one when you want to disable GPRS, or go back to the normal one went you want to use GPRS. I use this when reading news on NewsReader offline, because otherwise it tries to connect up to download pictures.

On my GPRS I have a username and password box, although nothing needs to be entered in it. I make sure the box which says Always Remember These Details is unticked.
haha vijay... I like your thinking... works a treat, just remember to manually select them, and not have it autopick tries to dial out, then error
Hi
I apologise in advance because I'm sure my problem is simply solved but I;ve not used the XDa for a while and I'm back to square 1. I have tried searching for the anser but I think my question is just to basic.
My XDA2 is unlocked and I use a T-Mobile sim in it. The problem I have is with the TOMTOM. When i try to update traffic info on the fly I get a message saying modem hung up (or something similar). It works fine when connecting via the cradle and my PC.
Now I think this is because the XDA2 is trying to connect using the O2 settings when I am on the road.
So my question is how do enter and then I get the XDA2 to use the T-Mobile settings?
EDIT: Sorry forgot to say so far I have done the following:
Start
settings
connections
Add new modem connection
enrtered T-Mobile
selected cellular line (GPRS)
entered access point as general.t-mobile.uk
user name as user
password as wap
Ok and update
seems it is connecting after all. Problem is I have to connect via GPRS first then up date the traffic. It's not picking up the connection if I just update direct from TomTom
any ideas?
I don't think you can do much about that, cause the tomtom, must automatically try to establish the GPRS connection.. like Internet Explorer does, it automatically checks if you have GPRS or Wi-fi connection, if not connected for you automatically. after reading your post. it does not start your GPRS connection, have you look into the settings of the tomtom, to see if he has an option that you can let it connect through your GPRS automatically?
Well I never seen anything on forum - or I am blind.
I have problem with data (GPRS/EDGE/UMTS/HSDPA) connections - after I boot up - usualy I have flight mode on, known issue, I hope it will be corrected in new software.
But... I am 95% time of all connected to internet APN, but when connection is dropped, or when I want to change to MMSC APN I have message that: "Cannot Connect; Dialed: <address of APN>; The answering modem has disconnected. To check your connection settings and change them if needed, tap Settings." I have to reboot device to connect again or to send/receive MMS.
I thought that this is because I use dual-sim adaptor, but today I've checked with single card and it is still same problem. Any suggestions?
hey guys heres abit of unusal question? (to be honest i dont think any of us ask any usual questions )
anyway what im trying to do is find out if there is a way to force a pda when its trying to connect to the internet to first check if internet is avaible through active sync (cradle or usb cable) then to check if WIFI is avaible then if thats not avaible to use gprs - but to use gprs as a last resort.
so the way it will work is an application needs to connect to the internet it first is forced to check for a connection through active sync if thats not avaible then to see if there can be a wifi conenction established if that fails then to connect to gprs and in the order.
i was hoping i could find what scrpits are used when the connections are established and then make a script to run the will force the device to do this.
Or even if there is a reg edit that I can do that will allow me to get this done? (would regedits be possable for this)
Id appericate your thoughts on this guys?
That's how it does work, doesn't it? At least, that's how mine works...
mine tends to connect to whatever it was connected to first - e.g. if I have messenger open via GPRS and then connect to my WiFi network, it will still use the GPRS for it's internet connection. Even if I plug it into the PC, it still uses GPRS.
This can be costly.
