Hi
I have outlook 2007 and vista and htc touch diamond i cant get my contacts on outlook when i connect the phone with usb, and i dont know how can import them from the phone to outlook.
can anyone help pls???
When you first plug in the phone it brings up the Windows Mobile Centre on your PC, and asks if you want to set up the phone or just leave it as a 'guest' partnership. If you selected the latter you will not be able to sync without changing the settings of the sync option.
This can easily be done in either the Mobile Device Centre on the PC or on Activesync on your phone, but you need to say you wish to sync the phone, and then also say you wish to sync the contacts.

I dropped my HTC wizard and it broke. How can I access the calendar that I have activesynced on my PC? It powers on so I could probably connect it to my PC via activesync but I have no idea how I could get the calendar app running on my PC.
I used to own a Sonyericsson p800 once and it had a great utility which let you manage calendar and phonebook items via pc, is there one for windows mobile?
So basically all I want is to view the calendar items via my pc because I have every appointment and important reminder in my phone's calendar

ActiveSync to Outlook
ActiveSync will sync calendar entries, notes and tasks to Outlook.
I had a similar problem with my JAMin. I bricked it while trying to flash with a customized ROM. I installed the WM5 emulator from Microsoft and managed to restore my last backup (SPB Backup) on the emulator and then sync this to Outlook.
(The local phone dealer is unbricking the phone under warranty!)
Where can I find the backups on my PC? I looked in Program Files/Activesync/ but couldn't see anything resembling a database file... Note that I'm not very technical with these things...
EDIT: I have the WM5 emulator and Outlook installed so I just need to find where the activesync backups are located.
UPDATE: Just got activesync working, so although the phone screen is busted, I can activesync it.
So please, anyone, let me know how I can get the phonebook and calendar info into my pc. I can view all the files on the phone via activesync -> Explore.
have you made any prior backups in your pocketpc?
whether you did or did not, here's an alternative method...
with activesync open, choose tools>options, then place a tick mark on contacts and calendars. press ok.
when you click on "sync", the contacts and calendar items will be placed in microsoft outlook. when you open outlook, you can view them, along with inbox, etc.
Ok, tried that and it synced them all... so they should be in my pc now, but where? Which directory??
start > programs > microsoft outlook
Can't see anything, I have Outlook 2002, maybe it does not support WM5? I did get an error when syncing:
"Cannot synchronize with the Outlook profile you are using, because a different profile was previously set up or the profile is password-protected. Please open Outlook using the appropriate profile.
Support code:8503001f"
I have never used Outlook on my PC before...
EDIT: Just to clarify: Outlook opens fine, but all the calendar entries and notes etc. are blank.

i also have outlook 2002... i'm sorry, i cannot help you past this point (i understand zilch about "profiles"). i'm sure there are others who know what to do next.
There has to be a simple way to just yank out the calendar data from my phone just by using Explorer on my desktop pc, right? Please say it's so because now I uninstalled Outlook and I'm getting more errors than before, now I really don't even know where to start.
This is really driving me nuts... I know I have at least four job appointments for tomorrow, and it's now 11pm and I can't get them out of my phone, and I can't sleep because I know that I'm going to be really royally screwed tomorrow if I have to go to work and don't know where I'm supposed to go during the day.
I think I'll revert back to using a pen and paper calendar in the future...
I have to bump this up... I really need help in getting the calendar entries out of my phone.
If this was the first time you synchronised calendar data then ActiveSync should've taken you through the configuration of a new Outlook profile. If not, then you may already have a profile configured. Outlook's mail profiles can be managed from the Mail icon in the Control Panel on your PC.
I can't give you the details, but this is what I can vaguely recall.
There are a few files in the root directory of your phone that can be copied via activesynced-explorer (e.g. the mobile device on your My Computer). The file is something like PIM.xxx. If you have a spare phone to use, you may want to try copying these files into the other phone and see if the calendar stuff is in there or not.
Else, try to do activesync on another computer and transfer all calendar stuff into Outlook. when you have your new phone, just plug the phone in and have everything synced into the new phone.
Here's the situation, I need some pointers
I currently have my HTC Wizard partnered with my work laptop and my home PC. Work laptop is XP Pro with ActiveSync 4.2. Home PC is Vista Business with Windows Mobile Device Center.
What I'd like to set up is my Wizard to sync to Exchange through my work laptop (appointments, contacts), then for my home PC to pick up these items off the phone.
Currently, the phone is setup to sync with Exchange through my work laptop just fine, but when I take it home, it tries to connect to the Exchange server as well. I want my home PC to sync to the items on the phone locally, not from the Exchange server, when syncing with my home PC. I want the phone to pick up stuff from the Exchange server from work.
That is, ideally, the phone gets items from my Exchange server at work, then when I take it home, my home PC picks up these items and copies them locally.
Can someone please help? I'm sure this is an easy solution
Thanks for your help guys. Don't all jump in all at once.
Come on. Someone has to know how to do this. It must be simple. You can't take 30 seconds to post how this is done at least in ActiveSync 4.2 so I can figure it out in WMDC?
I don't have my phone setup to sync with an Exchange server nor do i have Vista so i don't know if my advice will be of any help at all...
When I hook my non-exchange partnered phone up to a PC it asks me to setup a syn partnership with that PC if i've never connected before. Seems i can do that with an unlimited number of PCs and it will copy the stuff in either direction so that they all end up synced to the same stuff.
Maybe a setup like that would work for you? Or does it only allow syncing with Exchange with an Exchange partnership?
I don't believe that what you want is possible. The phone can get email from another PC or an exchange server but it won't go the other way. Also, the phone can only set up email sync with one source. So you could sync to your exchange server OR the PC for email. What you might do is see if your employer has a way for your PC to connect to the exchange server as well. If not as an exchange server then using POP3 or IMAP (if the former, be sure to set it to leave messages on the server).
Good insight, thanks! Sorry to be rude earlier
I'm not worried about email at this point.. all I really want is contacts and appointments.. what I'd like is for my phone to grab my contacts/meetings from work (Exchange) and sync to Windows Calendar/Contacts in Vista or locally in Outlook at home..
The contacts I care about are actually stored locally on my work machine.. I'm not too worried about getting the company directory. When I sync my phone with my work machine, it only syncs local contacts (ie: contacts that are already on my phone, my "personal" contacts), so that's good. That is, I had contacts on my phone, and it dumps them onto my work machine locally. If I edit them on my work machine, it then updates my phone. Perfect. It does this with my home PC as well, so this is good.
What I'm ultimately trying to figure out then, I suppose, is how to get my appointments from my work Exchange server to get dumped to my home PC locally, as I mentioned, in Windows Calendar or Outlook, without it trying to connect to my work Exchange server at home (meaning that I'll have to connect via VPN every time I connect my phone, ugh). That is:
Me at work: plug in phone, phone syncs appointments with Exchange, stores them locally on the phone
Me at home after work: plug in phone, WMDC notices schedules on phone that aren't stored locally, WMDC pulls them from phone and stores on my home PC in either Windows Calendar (default) or Outlook (if installed).
Is this possible?

Hmm, mine does that as far as I know. I have a personal exchange acct with mail2web. Appointments seem to sync with that and my home PC. I will connect it in the morning and make sure. Only thing is that I made the appt on the PPC so it may not tell you exactly the same.
You know, now that I think about it, I had ActiveSync setup this way before I switched to XP -- at work it'd sync with Exchange, then at home it'd sync locally.. however, I can't remember how I set it up, and I can't seem to set it up that way in WMDC. In WMDC, I can choose to not sync with Exchange, but it keeps my Home PC grayed out so I can't select that as an option.. hmm.
Hey,
You can "add" an extra account to Activesync.
That is how I got my Activesync to sync manually only, instead
of every so often without me knowing and sucking up resources.
(With only one account the connect box is greyed out)
Good Luck,
Johann
On Windows Vista i used to sync my phone through the Windows Mobile Device Center, and Microsoft Outlook, and get all my contacts from phone to the pc, and if my phone was hooked up also, if i add a new contact or change a detail of an older one in MS Outlook, it would immediately take change in my phone also..
Now a couple of weeks ago i put up Windows 7, and install the Outlook Connector, and now when i connect my phone, it wants to send all the hotmail contacts that i have right into my phone, which i dont want ofcourse, and if i try to delete them, they would delete from my address book and from MSN Messenger also! so im stuck here, im not even hooking up my phone to the computer cause otherwise i'll have my whole phone's contact list messed up with a bunch of email addresses of a bunch of people that i dont need on my phone, and that i cant delete cause i dont want to lose them from my computer or my MSN list either.. this is stressing!! hahaha, so if anyone had this, or knows how to set the Outlook/Connector/WMDC to keep outlook(hotmail) contacts on my computer and sync my phone contacts in a diferent folder without mixing them together, please, it would help me a lot!
EDIT: when i installed windows live on the phone, i unchecked the option of syncing my hotmail contacts, so thats not whats causing it, its purely because of Outlook..
Running Outlook 2007 - Connector - on XP sp3
When I set-up the Hotmail contacts installed to a separate address book. So my Outlook contacts are in "Contacts" whilst the Hotmail are in "Contacts in n****@hotmail.co.uk"
I know that you don't have Activesync which only sycns the main contacts folder. Are there other options in W7 version of AS (sorry can't remember the name). Do your hotmail contacts show in a separate contact folder?
I've lost my outlook connector toolbar and can't remember if it had additional settings.

in windows 7 i have windows mobile device center, and now i only have 1 "contacts" folder. thats the main problem i think, thats why everything is in the same "contants" , i remember a while ago, when everything used to work good, i did have a "Contacts" and seperate i had "Contacts in [email protected]"
any idea how to add/seperate them?
Not sure... Have tried uninstalling - but didn't seem to dump all of the data and on re-install has done every thing automatically..
see here
I tried to re-install to see if there were any additional setting, but I didn't remove properly.
Have a look under the account settings. You should have two data files... Are the mails being delivered to a different mailbox?
i still cant figure this out!
now i know the problem is that i have the same "contacts" folder both for my outlook contacts and for my hotmail contacts,,, i need to seperate them.. if anyone knows how?
I cannot get the android to PC sync to save my contacts on my PC. I go thru and sync it but I dont get anything under the summary. Any idea?
( It does go thru with the whole sync process )
Did you go into settings on the HTC Sync program and check the box to "sync this catagory"? You can also do it for your Calander. Also you can tell the sync program if you wish the pc to overwrite the phone or vise, versa.
The HTC Sync program only works with Windows Outlook, not sure about Outlook Lite or any other such program.
I hope these pics are of help to you Mate.......
Is there any way to sync my Outlook 2010 contacts with my HTC hd2 tmobile usa without using any second party email service, just straight outlook to hd2. I have tried some of the stuff on the board.....everything syncs except contatcs. I luv this phone but this is really irritating, after discarding my iphone (which was so easy working with contatcs). Other than this problem , I am officially a fan
I don't get it, doesn't it automatically sync your contacts when you plug it in your pc? Did you already download windows mobile center on your PC?
Download and install Windows Mobile Device Center (microsoft). Sync your phone via USB and creat a partnership. Choose to sync contacts, mobile favorites, calender, files, etc. as you like (right calender to choose how far ahead to sync). There are directions and you can search the site for more and, if all else fails, ask again.
