I have seen many people asking about this so here goes...
Go to http://www.htc.com/tw/SupportViewNews.aspx?dl_id=564&news_id=167 and scroll to the bottom of the page
Download HTC Sync (from the --Select File-- dropdown list)
Download HTCDriverUpdate_WinXP (also from the same --Select File-- dropdown list) ***The second dropdown list is to choose a location to download from***
Install HTC Sync on your PC
Connect your phone to your PC via USB cable
Turn on your phone
Install HTCDriverUpdate_WinXP and let it run (1-2 minutes for me)
Go to your phone notification area and click to run HTC Sync on your phone
Voila!
PS_1. As of today, HTC Sync only allows you to synchronize MS Outlook Contacts with your HTC Android phone.
PS_2. If you want to sync your Outlook Calendar with your phone, your best bet might be to export from your Outlook Calendar items as a *.csv file and import to your Google Calendar.
Hope it helps.

I cannot get the android to PC sync to save my contacts on my PC. I go thru and sync it but I dont get anything under the summary. Any idea?
( It does go thru with the whole sync process )
Did you go into settings on the HTC Sync program and check the box to "sync this catagory"? You can also do it for your Calander. Also you can tell the sync program if you wish the pc to overwrite the phone or vise, versa.
The HTC Sync program only works with Windows Outlook, not sure about Outlook Lite or any other such program.
I hope these pics are of help to you Mate.......
Just a quick link for HTC Sync for those that cannot find it on the HTC web site and have deleted it by mistake of their phone.
Following info taken from the htcwiki
HTC Sync
Synchronizing Microsoft Outlook Contacts
HTC Sync lets you synchronize Outlook or Windows Address Book (Outlook Express) contacts on your PC with your ANDROID phone.
Note If you have a Microsoft Exchange account, you can set up an Exchange email account and synchronize emails, contacts, and calendar items from the Exchange account.
Install HTC Sync on your PC
You can find the HTC Sync installer on the provided microSD card (or the disk that may have come with your device).
1. Make sure the microSD card is installed on the phone and then connect the phone to the computer using the provided USB cable.
2. Set the phone as a USB drive. To learn how, see “To set the phone’s storage card as a USB drive” in Chapter 1.
3. On the computer, copy HTCSync.exe from the storage card to the computer’s desktop.
4. Double-click HTCSync.exe and then follow the installation instructions on the screen.
Set up HTC Sync
1. On your computer, run HTC Sync.
2. Connect the phone to the computer using the provided USB cable.
Note On your phone, check Notifications on the status bar for the icon to know if the phone recognizes HTC Sync.
3. The first time you synchronize the phone, the Synchronization Settings Wizard starts automatically to help you set up HTC Sync.
4. On the Synchronisation Settings Wizard screen, click Next.
5. Select the PC application you want to synchronize with and then click Next.
6. Select the categories you want to synchronize and then click Next.
Note After clicking Next, you may be asked to select additional categories. This page will only appear if any additional categories are supported by the connected phone.
7. Select when to synchronize data and then click Next.
8. Check the settings that you have chosen and then click Finish.
Note By default, synchronization will start when you click Finish. If you do not want synchronization to start right away, clear the Start synchronisation when I click Finish check box.
If you want to have more customization features when setting up HTC Sync, you can use Manual settings. To learn how to set up HTC Sync using Manual settings, consult the HTC Sync help on your PC. To learn how to open the help, see “To open HTC Sync help” later in this chapter.

Very nice work bro....many many thanks from Greece
My htc HD2 used to, automatically, somehow import my FB friends birthdays in the HTC Agenda. Now, whatever I do, I can't find where to set it so the birthdays imported by the phone, don't come back.
I logged in on FB with dataservices menu, sync apps: FB, datasync enabled.
Next I'm always logged in with the FB app from MS.
So I don't get why it was possible when I got my HTC at first, and now, after a few hard resets, erasing all data (because I like trying new tools), it doesn't automatically update/show up CALENDAR BIRTHDAYS (facebook status etc gets updated, I do see birthdays on contact page itself, but not HTC Agenda) at all. Regards
I have the same problem :/ I can see bithdays reminders for some contacts and for others i don't get any reminder in HTC Calendar. I can see dates on contact page but nothing in HTC Agenda.
EDIT:
Ok, I found the workaround:
1. Check for birthday date on every contact with link to facebook. Open conact card and check is there any date or date with "f" (facebook) symbol. If you see with "f" or there is no any date, go to edit contact card, remove link with facebook, and link again. After that you should see birthday date not only in contact card but also when you click edit contact card
2. Sync contacts with pc outlook
3. Check pc outlook calendar - you should see reminders
4. HD2 - Start - tools - activesync - options- sync contacts AND CALENDAR (check source seetings: I have keep item on my device if there is a conflict)
5. Sync contacts and calendar
6. Check HTC Calendar
7. If you had previously any reminders, clean calendar (check current and next year) for any duplicates
8. Sync again to remove duplicates on pc.
From now on contacts birthday date and events will be added automatically via activesync. Just check, when linking conatct with facebook, do you see events dates on "edit contact card" tab, activesync with pc and done
Installed HTC Sync 3.0.5422 with W7 X86.
HD2 mattc 1.6b.
IMPORTANT:
Backup my *.pst files in Outlook 2007.
Start HTC Sync on PC. Get a window with no device connected.
On HD2 when HD2 is plugged-in got menu where i choose "HTC Sync".
On PC HD2 is recognised and a menu is given to choose what you want to sync.
I choose all of them.
Clic "synchronise now" and sync start. Take less than one minute to complete.
Everything is fine exept Contacts:
They are completly messed in "Outlook contacts". Noway to get them as original.
I have to restore my *.pst files. Then they are back as origin.
Contacts in HD2 are also not as original.
I did not see an option in HTC Sync to sort them!
Does somebody has successfully sync contacts with HTC Sync without messed them in Outlook?

No, with Android create your mail accounts with "e-mail widget" and synchronise them directly with WiFi or Data (GPRS, EDGE, 3G or H).
Synchro
I can't synchronize anything...
Success on htc sync
In order to sync I had to turn off calender and contact sync. It syncs music, docs, and pics great.
You can use gmail to import your outlook contacts and then your gmail account will sync contacts to phone.
Hope this helps someone!
anyone got it to sync bookmarks? I couldnt.
Friends,
I have this issues unsolved :
1. I have my email accounts in my new phone but cannot see my folders in yahoo and hotmail
2. I am syncing with HTC sync but though I have selected to sync Outlook contacts, calendar and task, only the contacts are seen after sync but others shows nothing.
3. I have also select to sync bookmarks with my explorer but all my bookmarks do not show in my desire hd the way they are in my computer.
On #2: if it's a new phone you need to enter *something* into the phone's calendar before a sync. For some reason the Android calendar needs some form of entry before a sync can take place. Don't ask me why but just enter something like 'breakfast, today' ....
I use MyPhoneExplorer to sync my DHD with my PC (running XP Pro and Office 2000) - so see http://www.fjsoft.at/en/ They have a good forum for answering questions as well.
As for tasks, *not* sure if that is supported. You'll have to read up on that a bit more.
HTH
