Not Booting After Screen Replacement - iPAQ rw6828, XDA Atom General

Hi Guys,
I seem to have a problem with the Atom Exec not booting after I replaced the LCD screen. It originally turned on (albeit with no backlight). I turned it off and tried to turn it back on, but it won't.
The orange light comes on when I plug in the USB cable, but the computer does not recognise a device is connected and the Atom Exec still will not boot.
Is there anything I can do or is it dead?
Thanks.

Intermittent "Device Not Recognized"

Hi
I have an Orange SPV M5000 with the original rom installed. However, on average every 3 out of 4 times I connect the device to my computer a balloon pops up saying "USB Device Not Recognized" and the device does nto synchronize. However if I continuously unplug and plug the device back in every 10 seconds, eventuallly it will work. I have ActiveSync 4.1 and Windows XP Pro SP2 installed on my computer.
Is there any way I can fix this problem or is there something wrong with my PC, rom or hardware? I notice that when I plug the usb into the device the charge light comes on, but sometimes will go out again just after 2 or 3 seconds and not come back on.
Many thanks
Ash
I find less errors by connecting the device with it initially switched OFF.
But really, activesync sucks.
I agree with belfast-biker. Make sure when you plug it in that the HTC Universal is OFF. If you do plug it while it is ON, just press the power button to turn it OFF and wait a minute or two then press it again to turn it ON. Your computer will now recognize your device.

Now this particular problem of yours, I have not encountered. In my EXEC, if I plug mine while it is ON, I will get the message "Device not recognize", but my EXEC would still charge, indicated by the orange light and it won't turn to green untill fully charge. But the light is always ON as long as it is connected to my computer.

Totally agree - I also find that I have less problems (not that it's gone away totally) now that I have switched off the "Turn off device if not used for"... in the Power | Advanced tab.
Cheers,
Steve.
spv m5000
I have the same issue.
Wonder if this is M5000 ROM Only? any O2 machines ?
Same problem with O2 Exec...
Same problem with jasjar, and if you check the backlight sometimes turns on without any apparent reason... I think it's beacause stuff in the notification queue...
I had this problem with my Exec and I just reinstalled ActiveSync over itself and it hasn't happened since.

Big Problem - after connecting USB or wall charger - switch off.

Reboot and RED LED. I know red means bad and i dont have any idea whats wrong.
The whole problem is described in the title.
Some details:
I switched my battery with my friend who has a prophet also. Problem remains the same. When i connect USB or wall charger device switches off and RED LED appears.
My battery charges on the other devices (friends prophet).
Is my dev bricked? Whats wrong ?
Im using ShadoW 1.0 (clean edition) ROM (WM6).
I know that the ROM in my dev is working because when i charge batter in other device and put it into mine - dev boots up and works normally.
(tryed also in boot loader mode - switches also off )
Question: what happens if you try to charge the device while it is off (completely off)?
There may be a problem with the USB driver in which case the device should still charge normally when it is off.
If that is the case try another ROM, or at least a hard reset.
Hard reset already. cant connect to any laptop with usb because every laptop will make the device switch off, even when i boot in RGB mode (boot loader) - thus cant change the rom :/
Hi. I've the same problem.
My prophet walking strangely.
1. When I plugged into a PC he does not want turns on. When he turns on, it for some time.
2. When it is in charge, the red light 3s, then sometimes it goes boot loader mode, once it does nothing else
3. Without battery it is the same.
same problem
any solution for your problem???

Got a non-working Magician

Hi,
a friend showed me his broken Magician (T-Mobile MDA Compact).
It did not turn on, no led, no nothing...
I plugged in my fully charged battery from my Charmer and connected it to my power supply, same thing.
I tried to enter boot loader (power, camera, reset pin), no reaction.
Any hope for this thing? Is there a sort of even "harder" reset?
Your phone may have 'bent' or broken battery terminas that aren't making contact.
Hi,
sorry I know this doesn't answer your question at all, but I was just wondering if you managed to get your Magician fixed in the end.
My daughter's SPV M500 recently stopped working, pretty much the same symptom, so I was wondering if you were successful in fixing it, and if so, how?
Thanks in advance!
Try this- open the back of the device, undo all the screws, open until you see the circuitboard. on one side (i can't remember which one) check the widest cable that connects to the circuitboard - undo the latch and pull it out, push it back in and close the latch, then try turning it on. that cable keeps coming out in mine.
The widest ribbon, is actually the LCD ribbon.
He would have still heard the introductory 'beep' if the unit was actually working (even if the LCD wasn't connected).
i got the same problem.....
i am surfing on the net of my XDA when it shutdown i thought it was a battery problem so i try to charged it but i've noticed that it didn't opened for a couple of hours of charging. i tried to reset but it didn't work. so i decide to hard reset my phone but again it did'nt work, and now my XDA II mini WM 6.1 is totally dead.... i also tried to flash my phone but the activesync of my phone cant detect my PC, and even rebooting my phone also did'nt work.
i've also noticed the redlight blink on the led for a seconds when i charged and unplug the charger...

S200 dead, no power-on, nothing left

Hi All,
I've tried to upgrade the ROM of my QTEK S200.
It got completely stuck!!! I had to remove the battery. Now it stays black. Even a hard-reset does nothing. No bootloader, no white screen, nothing. It's like the device doesn't recognize the battery anymore. Same problem with another battery. When I connect the power supply, the light stays red for 5 seconds and then goes out again. No charging (orange) light.
Does this mean that the device was short-cutted (hardware problem) or can this be fixed with some manipulation?
Anybody an idea how I can fix the hardware (if broken) myself? Can't be to difficult if it just blew a fuse ;-)
Thanks

[Q] Dead Universal

I've got a bog standard O2 XDA Exec (Universal) which I haven't used for ages, so I got it out, connected it to the pc to charge it and nothing happened.
I thought it might be the battery so I bought a new one and the same thing happened, so I bought an external charger, charged the battery and tried again, and it still won't switch on.
I've tried a hard reset, and get the press 0 or press X screen but nothing appears to happen!
I can get it into bootloader mode where it says 'serial' at the top of the screen and 'v 1.00' at the bottom.
Is there anything else I need to do to get it to switch on?
Many thanks in advance,
Neil
You may look into the sticky guide, good luck
If you can get into bootloader mode, have you tried reflashing?
