Interesting - G1 General

Hai, i faced a problem with my keyboards after flashing multiple roms, my menu, space and backspace button are nt responding well.
HTC claimed that the third party rom caused the keyboard to be spoilt. Feel free to post comments about whether flashing will cause keyboard to be less responsive.
I myself think it would nt, however i would be happy if anyone is willing to clarify with me. Thanks!

HTC is trying to get out of replacing the phone. There's no reason that the ROM should cause this.
Try flashing back to a nice stable build like JF 1.51. Does it still have keyboard problems?

My HTC HD2 issues. Any solutions?

hello everyone
i am since 1 week a proud owner of fhis device. And please understand, i choose this device after allot of research en review analyses. I love it,the way it looks, feels etc. However after 1 week of testing and intensive using i came across many small issues that do create some irritation and i wanted to know what to do to fix them. That is if there are fixes available besides resetting the phone everytime they occur.
My first problem is the lock screen. If my phone is locked for a while and i want to unlock it, there is somtimes a good chance that my phone gets stuck and all i can do is resetting it
by removing the battery. My second issue is, that somtimes my opera browser stops rotating to landscape mode. Fixing this requires a phone reboot. My final issue which is the biggest, when i use the youtube app allot. After a while of using the volume control bugs out. Wheb you change volumes during the video, the phone freezes a tiny bit and then a windows error message appears.
What i would like to know if i can fix these problems somehow or if anyone else has simillar experiece as me.
Finally, i would like to know if it is possible to play youtube movies on the standard webbrowser, opera. i got skyfire installed, but it seems very slow and buggy.
Thanks in advance for your time
Hi Hydrad,
Sorry to hear you are having problems. I didn't have any of these problems initially so I can't help you there. It would help however to know what your ROM is, and if you ever updated your ROM.
The ROM my HD2 came with was messy and there were a lot of bugs. I installed Miri's 6.5.x rom and i have no problems whatsoever.
If you haven't done a ROM update before, don't worry it is not that hard, just write here and Id be glad to help.
All the best,
sh.

Follow the link in my signature for Flashing LEO Roms for noobs. Install HardSPL and then pick a rom from many available and flash it via activesync (usb). I would recommend Duttys WWE Rom in in sig to start withbut there are plenty of others that are worthy of flashing.
Flashing a custom rom will fix your freezing issues, fix your opera roatation problem and most include a youtube app to play yourtube videos directly rather than having to go through opera.
If you need anymore help then just shout as theres always people willing to lend there ear and share their knowledge.
Mark.
hi all. thank you for the replies.
i forgot to mention that i updated my rom already to 1.66. My htc is also not branded. I will follow the links you gave me. ty

Please do not upgrade to the last version posted in htc web page!!

All, I just repeated my flashing of the last official upgrade posted on Oct 19th 2010 for the HD2 in the HTC web page, Support area. It makes the unit go TERRIBLY SLOW ALL THE TIMES!!, the memory consumption can arrive up to 90% with NO APPLICATION OPEN!!!!!!!! IT IS A DISASTER!! I think that if HTC see a forum here it will pay attention and remove that upgrade from web page. At least for the Chezck region. The phone said it had an amount of memory free when you installed programs, but when you went to see the value in the About area, the numbers were very different. I just moved back to the previous version.
you have hspl installed still, would be my guess.
if not, do a hard reset and start over. perhaps even flash it again.
Sir 90% of the problems on the latest stock Rom 3.14, isn't the fold of Device/Rom
But the user!
Stock Rom 3.14 isn't compatible with HSPL.
Is this a problem of HTC??? No!!!
Because this is a product create by users not support by HTC.
I've been using it for2 wks and I find it extremely stable and very fast. So except for some bugs n issues that I've already reported to HTC hoping for a hotfix soon (lack of slide down menu and inability to use other phone features during a phone call, poor radio reach/higher battery drain being a couple of ones that bother me the most), it's worth giving it a try if you want a speedy and crash free experience for a while.
Btw, in my case, the upgrade was from stock ROM 1.66, and no HSPL/cooked Roms ever installed.
Tethering with Rom 3.14?
Does the new rom permit tethering via Tools/Internet Sharing?

Hi mandel4026,
I wonder why do you doubt the 'Tethering' option in the HTC official ROM upgrade.
The HTC website mentions:
'Tethering:
* Internet Sharing through USB or Bluetooth
* Wi-Fi Router'
as it's specification. I believe that they wouldn't turn-off the feature this ways through a ROM upgrade.
mandel is worried that he thinks since tmobile will charge seperately for tethering now, the new rom upgrade for tmobile will have the function bundled to tmobile applications and not as default in device tools like in roms elsewhere outside the US...i think it may not be the case, mandel

I have updated to 3.4 and on the whole it works great but I also have the issue that in a call there is no slide down menu as in the prvious and none of the functions work - not even bringing up the keypad or putting it on speaker!!
Has anybody found a fix for this or do we need to wait for a hotfix from HTC??

slide down menu in call can be shown/hidden by using bsb tweaks

no, not yet. watch this page
http://www.htc.com/uk/supportdownloadlist.aspx?p_id=297&act=sd&cat=all
phone screens work perfectly for me, speaker buttons and keypad much easier to access without that slide down panel
just installed it....will see how slow it is

Ho! that's really stable then
Minor issues, who wants to use the phone features or bother about radio or battery efficiency??
I see that the HTC support are still doing good...
PS: do yourself a favor, replace their "romgarbage" and try some on this forum.
I had Artemis 29 for months with nearly no issues. It also solved all HTC rom issue I had!

hi guys, i have the same problem with memory and another strange problem is, i cannot install some of my medical programs. Is there anyway to restore the old HSPL? or any other solution. I tested some of the customized and they were unstable, so i prefer to use the stock rom? so any solution for HSPL restoring?

Ok, I gotta admit I use another phone for calls usually, son HD2 isn't my primary phone for that matter.
I'm still on the fence about cooked Roms, I believe they aren't bug free either and besides, I'm worried about software conflicts (?), so I'm not sure. Not to mention all the hassle if ever needed to revert to stock roms. I guess a bit of 'bricking' phobia too.

[Q] Problem with WP7 Roms or problem with the phone?

I have some odd problems with my HD2 after installing two different WP7 roms (HD2O & XBMod) and am wondering if this is an issue with WP7 running on the HD2 that is universal, or is there possibly a problem with my particular hardware.
The main issue is that if the HD2 is moved (turned, twisted, etc.), it will revert back to the home screen and flicker and sometimes the voice activation app starts asking me to speak a command. It doesn't matter what I am doing at that moment. It is happening in both roms.
Are others having the same issue?
I apologize if this is a known problem, but I could not find any info. Any suggestions?

sounds like its hardware related mate, you could try reverting back to a WM6.5 ROM see wehat happens there, id SD flash a stock original ROM which will revert your whole phone, SPL included, back to an original state
then if that works ok start again, HSPL>Radio>magldr>WP7 ROM,if none of that works then its definitely hardware
to be honest the flickering sounds more like a hardware issue...

[Q] Sense roms kill my touchscreen??

Hello all... So i flashed a Sense rom the other day and my touchscreen would not respond whatsoever (RafDroid to be exact), couldn't even get past the lockscreen..so, I tried another one, and another one, etc..5 different Sense roms and no touchscreen..flashed back to HyperDroid, works like a champ..Typhoon, works like a champ..The AOSP roms seem to work..Ive done Task 29, wipe cache, dalvik, fixed permissions etc..
I've seen in other threads that the screen will stop responding if excessive heat is present..do sense roms run hotter? Idk? anyone else experience this/know a fix?
update!! ok now THIS is strange..change from my OP.. my hyperdroid and typhoon roms my touchscreen quit working..altogether...so im thinking, "its a known prob with these, ill flash back to stock and send it in for repair", but i flashed the stock LEOIMG.nbh file, instead my phone rebooted, via magldr, loaded up android and the damn thing is back! like brand new! Not really sure how that happened????? I mean im not complaining, but did i screw up in a positive fashion or something lol???
flashing a sense rom will not do any damage to the nscreen or stop the sensor from working, sounds like yours was on the way out and it is coincidence
i have flashed about 50 times using sense roms in the past month and my phone is nearly 2 years old and never had an issue with the phone

It happened to me a couple of weeks ago. The touchscreen has started being less and less responsive. until completely stop working. I don't think it is cause by sense roms. I have googled the issue and realized that is is a fairly common problem of HD2 phones
yeah its pretty much what i figured guess ill need to send it in..ive searched but having a tad bit of trouble finding a tutorial to flashing to stock WinMo from android? thanks for the insight as well guys
this is common hardware fail in HD2. Flex between lcd digitizer and chip is under power button, so any pressure on that key will destroy conectivity of this flex. I repaired that by rasping red button as much possible to avoid collision between this button and flex.
If your phone is on warranty, I recomend sending for replacement

Portion of my screen does not work on Gingerbread Roms

I have been hoping that this would be corrected once the OTA dropped, but that is not the case. Also, I have come across people having this issue with the Asus Transformer, however, it seems that they had a bad piece of hardware. I doubt that is the case with my Epic, as the error only occurs on Gingerbread roms (including CM7).
On the left side of my screen, in either portrait or landscape orientation, that will be unresponsive for what seems to be a random period of time, or until I turn the screen off and on again. It is in the left-center of the screen, all the way to the S key on a soft keyboard, down to Z, and up past the text entry field.
Has anyone else experienced this, or have any recommendations on correcting this?
I have experience that exact same issue on both ACS ICS Rom and ERA RC1 rom. I'm currently on ERA rom and switch backed to the Android keyboard because it seems like the Swype keyboard was giving me more issues. Hopefully someone looks into this because I really like the swype keyboard better.
I have experienced this on Froyo roms as well. Mine has always been down the center of my screen. That really sucks since most notifications are in the center. When I upgraded to Gingerbread this got much worse! I filed an insurance claim with best buy yesterday for some physical damage on the phone, so i am hoping my new epic doesn't have this issue.
oh and on GB, my phone does this on stock without root. it is maddening i tell ya lol.
So was it deemed a hardware problem?
I haven't had this problem and i've been running Cyanogen on it for a while, my girlfriend is running stock and hasn't mentioned anything like that to me.Revert to stock and do an OTA to the stock gingerbread build and see if it still happens.
