Assuming you've already followed the instructions from the link I provided above, most of the Hero builds have links to the necessary Radio and SPL updates required. Just read through the forums.
For example, the JacHero r2.x thread ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=522076 ) links to this site ( http://code.google.com/p/sapphire-port-dream/ ) for the Radio and SPL. Be sure to update Radio before SPL.

'root' as you are using it is a function. to know if you have root after following the instructions you must download a terminal emulator from market, then type SU in the prompt it brings up. if you get a # sign you're golden, if not then you do not have root. in either case you need to read up and stay AWAY from hero builds until you understand your phone and it's functions more.
read EVERY link in this link labeled Read before clicking "New Thread" [06/29] at the top of the dream android development thread.

Easiest way to tell...open up terminal and type su then press enter. If u get a # symbol your good to go and have root. If it says permission denied, then you don't have root.

Root device? Safe?

Hi!
I have had this phone for a while now and thinking about rooting it so i can use droidwall and OC the phone. How is the easiest wat and is it safe?
Isak
i used z4root and no side-effect so far..
Ok, but if something goes wrong is it anyway to recover all data on the phone and just start up again?
i would say its always wise to do a backup before trying anything potentially dangerous..
u may read the other topic about recovery mode in this board for this..
Ok, gör det innan jag försöker roota
good luck and have fun..
worked perfect Thanks!
@Isakk1, can you please guide me how you rooted your u8800 using z4root?I got problem with the driver (huawei hsusb device)
hoping for your immediate response.tnx

USB driver for windows? do you see the auto mounted CD drive after plugging in? the drivers are there
Why need of drivers?
Assuming you are trying to copy z4root on your device... SD-card should mount itself when you plug usb in, just choose to mount from your phone notification are.
Moved to general.
I think this is what you're trying to do:
1. Open device manager, you will see this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Then right click on the HSUSB Device choose update driver then browse my computer manually. Then browse to this:
It will then install the driver and it should show this in device manager now:
Also worthwhile would be starting cmd and running adb devices to make sure the phone is listed.
thankz a lot guys..very appreciated
i rooted my phone . but i feel it's not good idea when i use 1 week. the phone always have some issues when use, so i flash back.
Can someone upload the drivers and share the link coz I can't find the drivers on the mounted drive (it's empty) after I installed the B160 based ROM.
Drivers attached to this post
Thanks alot!
I used z4root from Applanet.net
installed easily and rooted no probs as well.

Installing stock ROM from shipped-roms.com?

I went to the download page at http://shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Vision and there are a bunch of .exe files there. My computer (Win7) was originally installed in Chinese, I have since changed it to English. BUT the installer detects Chinese somewhere in the system, and displays all of the install menus in Chinese, so I can't read it. What do I have to do to install? Is there a set of screenshots anywhere so I can follow along? Does the .exe just dump installer files on your system, or just write directly to the phone over USB?
I'm returning the phone for warranty repair as there is an area of the screen where the touch doesn't work. Anything else I should do? Do they check to see if a cooked ROM has been installed, or if they see it's stock, just proceed with the warranty? I suspect I'll get an entirely new phone.

Saw it, but the roms from the linked site are not Asian, can't use them.
The exe extracts the rom.zip and the tools to flash it (adb, fastboot) to %temp%, you could go there and flash the rom yourself, or you can just click next on the exe a bunch of times, with your phone plugged in, on fastboot usb mode.
-Nipqer
Why do I need my phone plugged in? I don't want anything to install, I can't tell what it's doing. I just want to extract the files.
You shouldn't need your phone plugged in. Just open the exe,so it extracts to %temp%, then drag it out of the way so you can find the rom.zip

I finally got it to display in English. Here's what the installer screen was saying (that I couldn't understand as it was in Chinese):
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
How to proceed? I'd rather extract the files and flash using clockworkmod than use this weird installer.
well you can't flash an ruu through recovery so use the installer or find a pc10img to flash through hboot. make sure you are to flash the proper stuff or you will have a brick

I think glei's point was, your post might be a bit too vague to be helpful to someone who comes here looking for clear directions on how to easily root android. Although the addition of the link helps.
Root your android phon without pc
Root your android phon without pc

7) Click on the first option which is “Press here to Poot” and after a while, ur phone screen will get black.

Failed to install Aroma file manager on Samsung S5

Hello. This is my first post on this forum so please correct me should i post this in the wrong cathegory or use wrong tags etc
I followed the straight-forward guide i find here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1646108
Using the recovery mode on a Samsung S5 i have the option to "Apply update from external storage" and i find the .zip file under this tab and if i try to apply the update i get the following message:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
I've been trying this three times but i get the same error. I tried to search if other experienced the same problems but i found no similar threads.
Fyi this is on a non-rooted S5. It belonged to my grandmother which recently passed away and we are stuck trying to retrieve the photos on the device and this seemed like the best way. If there is any other way to retrieve these photos from a S5 with a pattern lock i will gladly accept any suggestions USB Debugging is obviously turned off on this phone -_-
Thank you!
You need root, a custom recovery and a terminal emulator as it seems to do this. Btw i`am sorry for your grandmother. Best is to flash a custom recovery with Odin, flash the latest superSU.zip in recovery . Reboot and install a terminal emulator from Play and follow the guide. Turn on usb debugging too.

TOSHIBA - 55UA3A63DG (produced by VESTEL)

Hello,
I have a few questions about my Android TV TOSHIBA - 55UA3A63DG (produced by VESTEL):
- Is there a Stock Firmware / ROM for this TV (Android Pie 9)?
- Whether it is possible to root and by which method?
- How can I go into recovery mode?
Thanks!
Sorry I cannot help you, but similar here:
Hitachi U55KA6150 (produced by VESTEL)
The two TV sets seem similar, therefore: I have exactly the same questons.
Thanks!
Chris
P.S.: I have adb access (ordinary user). I can provide whichever information I can get as a non-root user.
Chris56, please tell me - what happens after the command: adb reboot recovery?
Because, on my TV it appears "ANDROID DEAD ROBOT" with triangular red icon and "No command":

Exactly the same on mine!
Primarily I want to root TV.
Without root there are a lot of limitations in the customization of the device
