wpa enterprise - myTouch 3G, Magic General

I've modified wpa_supplicant in /data/misc/wifi/ icluding the same configuration as I use on my debian notebook.
network={
ssid="..."
scan_ssid=1
key_mgmt=WPA-EAP
pairwise=TKIP
eap=PEAP
identity="..."
password="..."
phase1="peapver=0 peaplabel=0"
phase2="auth=MSCHAPV2"
priority=10
}
the problem is that the network always appear as non reachable.
I've scanned with another application and I've seen that the net is on channels 1-9 (in advanced configuration on my magic there are channels 11-13).
It's a problem in my configuration or it's a problem of channels? How I can solve it?
I've used haykuro 6.0r1 and actually I'm using nk02 v4 firmware.
Thank you

Does it even support WPA Enterprise? I can't see our company WPA enterprise network on mine. (I have a stock ROM if it matters.)

someone can help me?
I need to connect to my campus wifi
thank you

Have you tried changing scan_ssid = 0, or take out that line altogether?
I read that scan_ssid param is for connecting to non-broadcasting SSIDs. Your campus probably broadcasts it?
As an aside:
My Magic had problem connecting to my non-broadcasting SSID at home. It works sometimes only, although I made sure "scan_ssid=1". I enabled broadcasting SSID and now it connects no problem.

I'll try when I return to my campus.
thank you

The HTC Hero support WPA-Enterprise ... so all Hero ROM support WPA-Enterprise

WiFi Problem with TyTn against WPA

Hi, maybe someone could be of any help
I tried out allready a lot and do not see a light at the end of the tunnel.
I am trying to get a TyTn to connect to CISCO APs using WPA with LEAP or PEAP or WPA-PSK and i do not manage to get it connected. The TyTn "sees" the network (SSID is hidden), tries to connect but did not manage to get connected. I tried with allmost any ROM available here. At the moment i am using the I-Mate on:
ROM version: 1.20.305.3
ROM date: 07/21/06
Radio version: 1.07.03.10
Protocol version: 32.41.7010.02H
Any help would be appreciated
Same problem here w/the Cingular 8525 and Cisco AP
Been the Cingular 8525 the same as the HTC TyTN, and using Cisco AP's at work I'm experiencing the same problems here.
The Cisco AP log shows a failure on the TCP/IP handshake when my 8525 tries to authenticate. We're also using WPA-PSK. Cisco support analyzed the log and found no explanation on why it cannot complete the 3 way handshake.
I can use WPA-PSK in my home network with a D-LINK DI-524 w/o any problems.
The next test will be to try a Linksys/Cisco router and WPA-PSK at a friends place, also I will try WEP (just for testing) at work and if I can w/o any encryption on the Cisco AP that is giving me problems.
I'll also try contacting HTC Support.
Thanks to anyone that could help, I will post any results of my tests.
Cyberg
The Wizard doesn't seem to support AES. Maybe other HTC devices have the same problem. I've also had trouble with routers running in dual AES/TKIP mode. Try setting TKIP only.
WM5 does not support AES. WM6 supports!!!
Entering the following line in the Cisco AP Config fixed it for me:
dot11 wpa handshake timeout 1000
I too am having troubles with the tytn and cisco AP's.
Ive done some testing
Encryption: none works
Encryption: WEP64/128 works when entering code in HEX
Encryption: WPA-PSK (HEX KEY, 64 digits) works
Encryption: WPA-PSK (ascii, 8-63 digits) FAILS
I will try the dot11 wpa handshake timeout 1000 later today, hope it fixes it.
Also noticed that my Hermes won't connect to my parents router (SSID hidden, WPA-PSK of about 16 digits). Somewhat frustrating, but never mind. Router in question is a Thomson Speedtouch 5xx (can't remember exact model number).
Go into Wireless LAN & Power Mode & max it out to Best Performance.
Same problem here... with my Tytn and an old 3com OfficeConnect b.
No way to enable WEP encryption (authentification will always fail).
Working perfect now with data encryption disabled: connection security made by letting only authorized mac-address to connect.
This way is also more secure than WEP encryption, am I right?
I will try the dot11 wpa handshake timeout 1000 later today, hope it fixes it.

Neither of these fixed it.
Its like the Hermes will only accept 64bit Hex key, which is fine but one of my other devices will only accept upto 63bit Ascii key
I had issues with my Cisco 1100 AP's and read somewhere on Cisco's website that QoS must be disabled on the Radio interface to get WPA/WPA2 to work:
Code:
interface Dot11Radio0
no dot11 qos mode
It worked for me
Andy
ADB100: Tried your code, still not working
Ive gotten WPA to work but only when useing the full 64digit key in HEX,
I think the Tytn has troubles with using ascii in WPA.
I had the same problem as the starter of this topic with Linksys WAG200G router, just couldn't set up to connect with WPA, so I switched back to disabled security with restriced access on trusted MAC address, and now it works like a charm.
WPA-PSK
Works for me. I have a Linksys WRT54G, and an 1100 AP. Connects to either of them seamlessly.
Just to add some more info in case anyone else stumbles on this thread.. had very same issues with WM5 on stock Hermes (T-Mobile VarioII). Had to unprotect the netork and rely on MAC filtering
Installing WM6 using Black 2.5 (now on 3.0) sorted the problem immediately. It seems some routers expect certain things from the device when using encryption that WM5 can't always provide (AES has already been mentioned). Yet another god reason to upgrade to WM6
Router here is Philips SNB 5600.
Hi
I'm having a similar problem with my Orange M700 (HTC Prophet) and Netgear DG834G.
Anyone any great ideas???

HTC Touch HD to WiFi Secured - doesn't connect

Hi, I have HTC Touch HD New. I have home wireless secured router DHCP with (WPA2 Mixed) with paraphrase While trying to connect I ran through wizard to connect to my wireless no luck. Then gave static IP , changed WPA2 to WPA/TKP, changed channel from 5 to 11 no response, stopped Firewall, anything what can be done with router did…..no connection. The HD sees the network, but refuse to connect. Although, I am able to connect to an unsecured networks. All other media that connected to my wireless network works fine. Also I have noticed that wile running wizard the: "Use IEE8021x network access control" is checked and gray so I am unable to uncheck it. Maybe here is the problem.. no clue. Appreciate any suggestion.
Hi,
I can confirm I have the same problem.
Not only with Touch HD but also with HTC Rapheal.
If I find a solution I will let you know.
I had this problem too. In the wizard you have to specify it as a 'worknetwork', not 'internet'. The 'internet' option is for public (secured) networks like on a café. Then again, maybe you did this already. I have a WEP encryption.
You might also want to check, if your HD connects at all by turning off encryption in your WLAN router.
If your HD connects fine, then check in Advanced Config under the "Network" section, if you have WPA authentication enabled. My ROM had this disabled. After I enabled this option and made a soft-reset, my HD could connect to my WPA2(AES) secured network.
If everything else fails, you might try this free supplicant: http://www.securew2.com/products/
Please, report back if and how you resolved the problem !
None of the sugestions here (post #3, #4 and #5) solved my problem.
It's still not possible to connect to a secured network.
Tried without MAC filtering and vissible network but no joy.
I use WPA-PSK with a network key.
Unsecured it connects fine.

I had the same problem with my Linksys Wrt54g Router using WPA-PSK, no matter what I tried it just would not connect. Without encryption or WEP encryption it worked just fine. Did set Wifi to performance oriented on the HD since that seems to have helped others but still no success.....
Here's the rub: I had installed Schaps Advanced Config tool before and had enabled WPA authentication under network. In a last attempt I set WPA Auth. to disabled, did a soft reset.....activated Wifi, entered my (27 character) passphrase and...my HD connects to my router using WPA-PSK and MAC-filtering without a problem...so that might be worth checking as well...
i hav no problem conneting my blackstone to my linksys wrt610 router using wpa2-aes. maybe you hav ur mac adres filtering turned on
just my 2 cents
Ditto post #8..
I have just connected for the first time to my work network, WPA-PSK(AES) and it connected fine without any problems.
Switched on CM, waited for the phone to list the networks, selected the one I needed and then choose "work" for connection and entered our passphrase. Sync'd up without a hitch.
Just to put this out there - do not connect your phone to the pc when trying to go wifi. It is disabled when activsync is... active.
Hi,
Thanks for the help.
Yes MAC filter is enabled but I've added the adress of HD to the list so it should work.
Today I've changed the channel in my Zyxel router to channel 11 and ques what....
IT WORKS FINALLY !
Channel 11 I choose because that's what the Touch HD chooses in WLan settings.
Maybe this helps for other people as well.
Edit;
A small update to mention.
I have two devices here, Touch Pro and Touch HD.
They both connect fine now.
Also the Touch Pro seems to pick channel 11 as default channel !
I would love to see someone confirms this because it was a real bugger to me.
Edit 2;
With MAC filter enabled both devices won't connect.
Weird thing is, both devices have the same MAC adres !

Are you sure you're seeing it correctly??? MAC addresses are unique, just as telephone numbers are unique to the phone system. Same concept. No two wifi devices are supposed to have the same mac address...
I was having the same issue: not being able to connect my HD to my wireless network. Very frustrating... Then I remembered I use a controlled Access List, on my wireless router, based on MAC addresses. Once I put my HD's MAC in the list, I was able to connect.
I made a mistake.
I connected both devices to the desktop with Active sync to find out MAC.
If I give the command 'IPCONFIG /ALL' both WM devices have the same physical adress,
but after I succesfull made a wifi connection (without MAC filter) with both devices,
I noticed that the MAC adresses are different on both devices in the router config window.
I've added both adresses to MAC filter and enable.
Now everything is up and running !

Can this be changed on the Touch HD? I don't seem to be able to change it. And channel 11 is a bit oversubscribed where I am...

i had the same problem. my hd use to connect fine with my wireless ruter untill yesterday. everything i tryed failed until i red this solution. i've done what razorblader suggested and guess what. it works flawless.
thank you!
it seems that the problem occurs after instaling advanced config 3.3, wich i did yesterday. for some reason it seems it mess the wifi settings.
thanks again!
i still have another problem, wich i have it since i bought the hd
i connect my laptop to my wifi router and it works great. i connect my hd to my wifi router and it works (again) great
but if i connect my hd to my laptop via usb and activesync, my laptop lose wifi connection. i reconnect it, keeps connection for few seconds and it loose it again.
any advice?
thank you!
Confirmed...
Had the same problem, Advanced Config WPA disabled works like a charm, if you enable it it actually disables it...
I connect to a Linksys broadband router with Mac filtering and WEP with no problems. Too lazy to try WPA2 because I'll have to reconfigure 3 PC's and two wireless printers. If I do try WPA(2), I post here.
I have WPA2-PSK with mac filtering and ssid broadcasting disabled. And I never had any problems, my router is linksys wag200 if it matters. Maybe you just do something wrong?

Note: This may be in a slightly different place in ActiveSync on XP.
I have Windows Mobile Device Center on Vista and I had the same trouble until I went to Mobile Device Settings > Connection Settings > check "Allow data connections on device when connected to PC"
(see attachment)
Just noticed you said laptop loses wi-fi.... I assumed HD loses wi-fi. My bad.
This may or may not help some of you, but I found out (the hard way) that the WLAN pre-shared key "passphrase" may only be 12 bytes long. Any more and it will not work.

Problem with secured Wifi connection

Hi all,
i am new here
I have problem with my Xperia.
When i connect with my phone to unsecured Wifi network everything works fine.
But when the wifi network is secured (WPA2), i cann't access the internet. (IP address is assigned, but ping to the router is without answer)
I have allready trying to set the IP address manualy, but without any success.
Can somebady help me please?
Thanks
BR
Edo
Is the WLAN-SSID hidden? That often makes trouble with devices like Phones, Radios, MP3-Players or something else. If so try to activate SSID-Broadcast (unhide SSID) and connect again.
What does your phone show in it's wireless settings (IP, Gateway, Subnet, Encryption etc)?
On my Cisco router I use WPA2-PSK Authenication with AES-CCM Encryption. The SSID id is hidden. No problems at all....
Is your router using MAC Address filtering??
This will also make it unresponsive to pinging if it is Enabled
and your x1 in not on the permitted list!
good Luck.
Stuart
hi,
now i use only MAC address filtering (without WPA2) and it works fine.
(SSID broadcast is enabled)
With activated security WPA2, MAC address filtering dissabled, SSID broadcast enable/disabled, it doesn't work
Tested with wifi router Belkin.
With HTC Diamond it works fine also with WPA2 secured network.(almost the same HW like the Xperia)
Tomorrow i will "play" a little bit with the router and phone settings.
It must works !!!
Note: i have observed the same problem/behaviour with nokia E66 (OS Symbian)
Hi,
Netgear Router.
WPA2 enabled.
MAC filtering on.
Broadcast Off.
Device added.
Browsing a doddle.
Des. . .
Deactivating the encryption nor use of wep is never a good idea.
Try to change to wpa-psk tkip.
I'm not sure what it could be, but there are some articles on the internet that WinMo phones (in general) have trouble using WPA or WPA2. WEP is apparently fine to use, but then again not secure.
I have a netgear, and using WPA/WPA2 (no MAC ACL) on my router with the Xperia doesn't work, but some of the other guys work fine
Try updating your Router Firmware (or making sure you have the latest firmware flashed to your Router) - this has been known to solve connection problems with new hardware e.g. Windows Mobile or PS3 or Wii.

HD2 Android WiFi Problem - Experience Sharing

The strangest thing I have even experienced, and perhaps can save you time and headache.
** Summary (for those not wanting to read the whole story, but just the fix)
If your HD2 Android can connect to your home WiFi but cannot access Internet, check if your WiFi network uses a 192.168.20.x IP subnet address. The HD2 Android's USB port uses the same subnet, causing a conflict. If you change your home WiFi to use any other subnet, it will work fine.
** The Long Story
Been reading and admiring all the Android developments in XDA-Developers for some time, finally decided it was time to give it a try. Picked one of the more popular and stable MDJ Froyo (Desire HD) for SD and loved it.
Problem is couldn't use the Internet via WiFi from my home. Internet via GPRS works fine, Internet via USB/PC works fine, just not WiFi. The connection to WiFi is successful, picks up a DHCP IP address just fine, but no Internet.
Oh well, perhaps there is a WiFi bug in HD2 Android not reported so never mind.
Wait! On a business trip, when HD2 Android connecting to the hotel's WiFi, Internet works fine! Subsequently in many other places WiFi works also flawlessly.
Must be the WiFi router at home. Not too surprising as I don't use much wireless but wired all my other computers (including notebook PCs), it is faster anyways.
So went back and tested WiFi on a notebook PC (prior to that upgraded the WiFi router's firmware), PC connects and works, but HD2 Android still not. Tried all kinds of WiFi and encryption combination (BGN, BG, G only, WPA2, WPA, WEP), just nothing works for HD2 Android. >> Conclusion: not the WiFi router at home, just HD2 Android working with this particular WiFi router.
Finally (but forgot what app it was), I saw the USB port binding to 192.168.20.x subnet, exactly the same as my LAN subnet in the WiFi router.
Bingo, changed the LAN subnet to something else (really anything is fine because it is inside a NAT so not an issue getting out to the Internet) and HD2 Android works like a charm.
Hope this helps.
sorry, can you explain more where to change in the router settings? i can't find anything to change in my wireless settings
Look up the LAN (local area network setting) in your router, where the IP address for most WiFi router is set to use 192.168.0.1
In my case the WiFi router is set to use 192.168.20.1 (and DHCP to pass out 192.168.20.x IP addresses).
By changing the IP address of the router, most router automatically change the DHCP assignment to corresponding subnet, say from 192.168.20.1 to 192.168.x.1
x can be any of 0 to 255, just not 20 for my case or it causes conflict with HD2 Android.
Hi Dear friend , And Thanks for sharing experiences.
I have the same problem , but my router's setting is :
IP Address : 192.168.1.1
and my Starting IP Address : 192.168.1.100
IP Pool Count : 101
DHCP : Enabled
NAT : Enabled
Default Route : YES
but no webpage loaded , the weather not work . but the meebo messenger
with my yahoo ID just worked .
so how can i fix it ?
tnx
I notice the conflict (with my 192.168.2.x) when I checked the HD2 IP addresses (after connecting to the WiFi). When I see the USB port bound to 192.168.2.x I know the two just conflict with each other.
If something (meebo messenger?) works but not others... could it be your HD2 not getting name resolution (DNS ?). Say if you try opening this do you get the Google page:
http://74.125.153.104/
** This is Google's page without the need to resolve via DNS.

and can u tell me how can I know about the port nimber . like USB port.
i think my Android's Kernels have been changes. maybe i'll can find something like this (equal IP address)
thanks.
I have following problem : At my university i have hidden Wifi network, locked with password.. But, ofcourse, we cracked their password, and now we can use their WiFi.. But i cant use it.. On WM i could use it .. One more thing to mention, there is a proxy u need to setup before u can go on internet trough that Wifi network.. but thats not my concerne yet.. I cant get connected to that Wifi.. I make new conn, with password and other settings, and it keep saying : Connecting... Disconnected...
Any ideas to help me ?
Thanks in advance
I had the same problem. I solved it by updating the radio to version 2.14.50.2. I think this version works best.
For me 2.15.50.14 works, too...

[Q] Android and WPA Enterprise

Hello all,
I was wondering if there is a way or an app available that is capable of adding a WPA enterprise network connection for non-rooted phones, that allows to set the eapol_flags? I have seen a few, but none seem to be able to add eapol_flags. The reason I ask is that where I work we use a non broadcasted WPA enterprise wireless network, after many years of searching I finally came across the recipe to get my rooted phone to work with our WPA Enterprise wireless network. What I have done to successfully connect was to manually edit the wpa_supplicnat.conf file located in the data\misc\wifi directory and added all of the particulars for our network:
network={
ssid="wirelessSSID"
scan_ssid=1
key_mgmt=IEEE8021X
auth_alg=OPEN SHARED
eap=PEAP
phase1="peapver=1"
identity="username"
password="password"
phase2="auth=MSCHAPV2"
eapol_flags=2
}
I have a few clients here that are not rooted and I would like to figure out how I can get them connected to our wireless network. Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Bueller, Bueller, Bueller...
I see a few views, no thoughts? Any ideas would be welcomed.
