htc magic as a remote control - myTouch 3G, Magic General

Hi all,
my sony ericsson had a free bluetooth app that let me remotely control presentations running on my computer. I actually loved this app, and I really want to be able to do this on the magic.
I've tried using gmote but it doesn't look like the HTC magic can connect to an Ad-How wireless network (and using my work WiFi network isnt an option)
Any ideas would be great, as I'd hate to think my 4 year old sony ericsson, which turns itself off if i move or shake it too fast in any direction, is superior to the Magic in any way, shape or form, lol
thanks

remote webcam software ?

Does anyone know of any software that would allow you to turn old windows mobile phones into remote ip webcams ?
I was just looking at the MyMobiler software and was getting excited at the prospect of using my old wm phones as ip webcams !, but sadly, there doesnt appear to be a realtime display when you go into the camera application on the phone
I've only tried the demo
Worked really nicely last year on my wizard. I linked to the manual so you can get a better idea about what it does.

Thanks for that Janis, I have tried their software in the past and found it to be very unstable on my XDA exec, and have just tried their new version on my Athena, and found exactly the same thing, plus, it never seems to get the brightness right, it sets the brightness up when you first turn it on, then from then on, it is stuck at that until you reboot
But that is exactly the sort of software i am looking for, but one that actually works !!

Mercedes BT Remote Sim Access SAP, any news

Hi everybody,
is there any news using the Mercedes Bluetooth SAP cradle with the HTC Touch HD?
Comand will detect the Phone, but then won't trigger the authentication dialog on the phone but instead gives up immediately.
Thanks
Frank
The version using remote SIM access will not work, you have to replace it with the Hands Free Profile adaptor Mercedes Part No:B6787 5877, which works fine but doesn't use the antenna and amp built into the car, it uses the phone's own antenna so connection is not as reliable. Has been working OK for me though.
SAP compatibility
Yeh, I would of thought a high profile phone like the HD would support this.
I have had to settle for the far inferior HFP with poor connectivity and reception.
I don't think it is rocket science, but perhaps less of a priority for our wizards at XDA.
Would welcome any suggestions besides changing my phone or my car.
I'm using the MB Bluetooth cradle adaptor in an '07 ML. Pairs up and works great for answering and dialing out but there is no access to the HD phonebook or previously dialed numbers. Sad as the wifes iPhone is 100% compatible.

I have exactly the same problem, just added a new post on this!
I find that once you flash a rom you can have full functionality but when you add any extra programs you cannot view the address book or the recent calls.Very frustrating.
It would be awesome if someone stumbled upon a tweak that would correct the problem. I'll try some bluetooth setting changes in montecristoff's HD tweak and report back if I have any success.
I am using the VW Passats Sim Access Profile and this works perfectly. Make sure that the SAP is activated under the bluetooth settings on the phone..
I also cannot sync the adress book, but had the same problem with my old Touch. Guess this is a WinMob problem. A workaround is to use the SIM Manager and copy your contacts on your SIM card as well, they won't show up in the contact list anyhow. Then have the car sync with the SIM card and all is ok...

Thanks,I've tried that, unfortunately it still does not work.Considering this state of the art equipment, its very sad that there is still no solution after many years(given that I am sure this is possible with a little effort by the people in the know how).Mercedes have screwed this up big-style..again
Actually, I'm not sure its MB's fault. Like I said the wifes iPhone is 100% compatible and so was her Motorola razr before that. To me this points the finger at WM.

Actually it's Mercedez's fault. MB is known by the lack of support for BT connection on their cars...
My father has a CLS, and by default only supports a handful of mobile phones. He has a SE k800i and the CLS wont go with that phone. And there's a official list, from MB, with only a few phones that work with the builtin BT on the CLS.
On the other hand his phone works like a charm, like my HD, on my BMW S1. This also includes full support on BT SAP.
Shame to MB
Note: I don't know if these issues have changed lately, ie more support to more BT phones from MB on their cars. Maybe now MB has more support on this.
I've got a jvc headunit which is pairing nicely and auto connecting with my hd, one main issue though it it doesn't seem to be sending through the id3 tags, anyone managed to get these sent through from htc touchflo 3d?
i`m having the same problem! using the HTC Touch Pro with Mercedes Bluetooth HFP Cradle on E Class. Everything works perfect, except the thing, that i can`t see my contacts on the Command!
Any suggestions, please
N95 and SAP
I have a Nokia N95 8gb and I'm thinking of buying the Mercedes bluetooth SAP-profile for my CLK. I was a bit surprised though when I read on www.viseeo.se (in Sweden) that the SAP-profile does not import the contacts from the phone memory, only the SIM-memory.
Anybody using N95 with the MB SAP that can confirm this?
I prefer original MB products of course.
Thanks!
I can confirm that the N95 8GB works with the SAP module but you do have to copy your contacts onto the SIM.
Rapidly starting to regret getting a new Sony X1...
Are there any news about this problem?
I cannot connect the htc touch hd with the BT craddle from my mercedes glk (partnbr: A2048200535).
I had no problems with accessing the phonebook (POL and SIM) with the HFP Module on my 2005 C-Class (Comand) and my Orbit. The 2009 C-Class uses a different system so I cant say anything about the HD. BUT, I had good success (in the former car) with this little software when it came to the sync of bigger contact lists: JetWare Mobile http://www.jetwaremobile.com/
Lets you choose what contacts you want to sync. Perhaps it helps you with your problem, too.

the hd2 supposedly uses PAN also but when i select start/tools/internet sharing/bluetooth pan/ connect (to the TF), i get "checking services", then:
"failed to establish internet sharig connection to remote device as it supports only network access point (NAP) mode".
stumped.
On my gw all I have to do is turn on its Bluetooth then on the Transformer I find my g2 in the Bluetooth devices and select it. Then I get another screen asking to connect to Internet. And that's it. G2 uses Pan.

tried it that way. i just don't get the "connect to Internet?" option on the TF; only "rename device" and "unpair".
i wonder if there is a hack to make the hd2 BT work like your g2?
if so, i haven't found it, alas.

your gonna have to install Cyanogen Mod 7 nightly. They just added the BT PAN function a couple days ago. Be warned though the performance of BT PAn isn't that good. They Highest i could get on a download was 1.5 Mbps and that a limitation of bluetooth. You'll do better using the built-in wifi hotspot in CM7.
quick update: i tried moving sims from my hd2 to my old tytn II and guess what? bluetooth tethering either directly via the OS or via wmwifirouter v1.52 now works perfectly! so something is definitely borked in the hd2.
works pretty fast too. i was impressed but it's really frustrating that my old tytn II can do what my shiny new hd2 cannot!
i have v2 of wmwifirouter in my hd2 which no longer supports bluetooth tethering. might try downgrading it to v1.52 to see if that makes a difference.
another update:
i downgraded to wmwifirouter v1.52 on my hd2 and the bluetooth option was greyed-out just as it is in v 2.00.
then i downgraded further to wmwifirouter v1.25. bluetooth option was now selectable! but ...
alas! while the TF pairs, it doesn't provide an internet option to it.
i tried it every which way: start bluetooth then wmwifirouter and vice-versa but no joy.
looks like the winMo hd2 is well and truly useless for bluetooth pairing to the TF, so unless anybody else has any ideas i'll probably give up at this point.
Put cm7 on it.

Justop K9B stick MK809 ii

Hi, my first post so be gentle!
Does anyone have one of these, it is the Bluetooth version of the MK809 ii and although I'm generally happy with it, it does have a few shortfalls. I am using it with a lan adaptor which works well.
I have a webcam that sort of works with Skype, but the large (Skype caller) and small (local webcam) images are the wrong way round, so if anyone calls I have to squint at the tiny picture! I tried the version off xda but it's the same. Any help there would be appreciated.
I've never dabbled with flashing anything android but should I be looking at doing this perhaps, and if so I have not seen any mention of the Bluetooth version of the MK809ii. I'll probably turn it into a vegetable anyway!
I welcome any thoughts/experience with this gadget.
Cheers

which lan adapter are you using and how much.
I am looking to buy the mk809ii, and was wondering what are some CONs and disadvantage you are seeing now? I heard it is much better than the mk808 as it has less glitches?

I'm using the BOBJGEAR usb to Lan android adapter, works fine out of the box on my tv stick.
Aside from the Skype problem above (REALLY annoying!), not too many cons to be honest, just minor niggles mainly with some apps not being suited to it.
-Youtube seems to have lost its ability to go full screen for some reason, works fine on my Nexus 7 and is the same version.
-I have tried a few DLNA media apps to try and view pictures, videos etc from my NAS and they appear to be occasionally laggy across my network, the media app that came with the stick seems to work the best but looks pants!
-Watching films is generally a good experience, but the rendering isn't fantastic on darker films, probably mainly due to the quality of videos I have. Youtube HD videos are perfect.
-Google earth works but there doesn't seem to be any zoom buttons so is useless, i haven't looked into that yet.
All in all i'm happy with it, I bought a Xenta bluetooth keyboard with built in mouse which connects fine directly with the built in bluetooth. The mouse is a bit frustrating though so will be buying a bluetooth mouse.
Hope that helps
hi sadsplace, im just thinking of buying one, are you still happy 2 weeks in, any new suggestions?
thanks

No Skype calls on new MK 809 II
I just got this new TV stick which seems to be working fine. Still, I'm unable to make calls in Skype. I attached a USB webcam and I also paired a bluetooth headset, I enabled video calls in Skype, but when I get to call anyone, after 2 or 3 rings, the call fails no matter if the other party answered or not. The only error message I see is "Call failed".
If anyone experienced this, is there a way to at least see if the webcam and the BT microphone are correctly installed? I tried several webcam apps from Google Play just to get an immage on my screen and finally I got one, but not in Skype.. .

Possible to control Sonos using DVP?

Good morning all. I have 4 Sonos wifi speakers in my home, as well as an Amazon Echo, an Echo Dot, and Yonomi running on iPads and my cell phone so I can control what I listen to without always needing a tablet and the Sonos app running nearby.
However, if you've ever used Yonomi, you'd know it can be a little temperamental. It doesn't always seem to know when I ask "Alexa" to change stations, etc. It can be because of wifi disconnecting and reconnecting, etc. Bottom line, when I couldn't get anything to play on my Sonos this morning I thought "god, why don't have a device in here so when this happens, I can choose a favorite to play and just get it running again".
I have one of the old Dell Venue Pro's. It's in perfect shape, running 7.8, and generally works ok. But I hadn't tried purchasing anything from the store in forever. It has no sim, but is on my b/g wifi and works fine. But when I found an app I thought might allow me to control my Sonos speakers (it was $2.50, no Sonos provided Windows App I guess),I couldn't buy it. Made me wonder if anyone had ever gotten Android running on the Dell Venue Pro, or if there was some other way of making it a more "productive" device again.
And so I ask you, the XDA community. I've owned lots of Android devices and know how clever you all are. Any way I can download or sideload an app on my Windows Mobile 7.8 device and use it basically as a remote control for my wifi speakers when the need requires? Would love to reuse my old device that hasn't been used in forever otherwise.
Thanks in advance.
Well I definitely can't try or buy any apps. I wiped and reloaded the phone, setup my Hotmail account, then clicked try on the app I wanted to try... but every time it asks me for my country and birthday, I click accept or whatever, and it doesn't go any further. Just takes me back to the store and shows me other apps I can't buy.
