Hiperactive ActiveSync - Touch Cruise ROM Development

Hi all,
I ran into a really strange problem with ActiveSync and google was not able to dig any solution so I decided to post a new thread.
I recently ran out of internal storage space so decided to put \My Documents to the SD card by applying the following registry keys:
Code:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services\FileSyncPath = \Storage Card\My Documents
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services\NoSubFolderIn=\Storage Card\My Documents
as written in the tweaks & tricks topic. This seems to work, now files are synced to the SD card. The problem is that no matter if the files are changed or not, ActiveSync always rewrites all of them on the device during each resync. This is an issue because it takes a plenty of time for several MBs and also doesn't make any sense. If however I set those registry settings to their original value, everything is back to normal again.
I learned that in the %Temp% directory of the PC WCESMGR.log tells the details of each sync operation. Normally it looks like:
Code:
06/27/2009 00:00:03.890 **** Starting synchronization of all out-of-date items
06/27/2009 00:00:03.890 Scanning desktop SSP for 'File'
06/27/2009 00:00:03.890 Done scanning 'File' [0 creates, 0 modifys, 0 deletes]
06/27/2009 00:00:03.890 Synchronizing 0 items
06/27/2009 00:00:03.890 **** Completed synchronization
If My Documents is on the Storage Card then it is the following:
Code:
06/27/2009 00:00:24.203 **** Starting synchronization of all out-of-date items
06/27/2009 00:00:24.203 Scanning desktop SSP for 'File'
06/27/2009 00:00:24.203 Done scanning 'File' [0 creates, 0 modifys, 0 deletes]
06/27/2009 00:00:24.203 Synchronizing 2 items
06/27/2009 00:00:29.359 **** Completed synchronization
I tried reinstalling ActiveSync, and also removing Mobile Device on the PC side and vice versa. None of these measures worked. I currently use c_shekhar_Pola_WM3.13.755CS_Build20755_WWE_3 rom with 1.59.44.02 radio ROM and ActiveSync 4.5 on Windows XP SP3 on the PC.
Any advices? Can such a behaviour be expected to be ROM related?
Thanks in advance!

!!!HELP!!! Application will be installed on next sync

Hi.
I have just installed some applications which are intended for use with PDA and Laptop/PC
I used active sync to install them.
It states after it has installed the PC Software,
Application (on Pocket Pc) will be installed on next sync.
Now.... HOW do you stop the Pocket PC version being installed on its next sync. I do not want to cancel the installation when the Pocket PC is connected, I want to do it before. Is there the installation file in the Microsoft Active Sync folder I can delete or does it dump the files elsewhere??|
I would greatly appreicate a reply.
Regards,
lydiachris
PLEASE could someone help
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows CE Services\AppMgr
try looking in here or some of the other regedit entries of activesync
Hi thankyou for the reply but please could you be a little more precise as I am not sure what you mean.
Thankyou in advance,
Cheers,
LydiaChris
Please coul someone help
what i'm saying is that which programs activesync feel is installed and should be synced are listed in regedit
and if removed from there would not install
Look in registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows CE Services\AppMgr\Apps
In there will be sub-keys for any pending installations. So you could see if it/they are listed in Activesync's Add/Remove dialog and uninstall them.
You could try this to stop the install:
Delete the application sub-key AND delete the string value CEAppMgr in the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows CE Services\AutoStartOnConnect. When I had a pending installation CEAppMgr had the value "C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync\CEAPPMGR.EXE" /autorun.

Lost ActiveSync after Big Storage ROM Upgrade!

Can anyone tell me where my ActiveSync has gone since upgrading my ROM to Big Storage?
I want to be able to sync over bluetooth with ActiveSync but I cant find the shortcut to it on my magician!
I have an empty Activesync folder in my windows directory.
The strange part is that all my contacts and mail and stuff have all synched with my magician when I connected via USB to my PC, activesync synched it all?
CONFUSED! Please help.
I noticed the same thing too when I was trying to setup bluetooth sync
in windows folder there is a shortcut called async.lnk and a file called async.asy. The shorcut points to async.asy and if you click it, it will launch activesync.
I put async.link in the windows / start menu / programs folder and unchecked 'Hidden' in the link properties, and it appears in my programs menu now.

Cannot Synchronize, cannot install or uninstall apps on Universal.

Hello.
I seem to have made a "cleanup" of the Universal file in main storage (by only removing some today items not needed, and I think I removed a file inside WMDRM folder or something.
Anyway, since that day for some reason, my Universal connects to Activesync through USB but it Doesn't synchronize. I get a message on Activesync stating that sync cannot be made.
Also, I cannot install cab files moved Directly to my device. e.g. I have a file on storage card, run is, and get an "unsuccessful" message directly.
From the beginning, I couldn't uninstall any applications (with the 1.90.94 Aku3 rom...) and I could only do it from Activesync Install/Uninstall. Although the files apear in windows/installs (or something) folder, they are not shown on the device's add/remove programs function.
I don't care about uninstalling, but Installing and using Activesync is top priority. Any clues on how to solve it without a Hard Reset?
Thanks...

[TIPS] Internet Connection via ActiveSync

I have this issue when connecting HD2 thru USB to the PC (Windows XP). The device cannot connect to internet via ActiveSync (but it syncs flawlessly). I can't play youtube. Can't browse. Can't do anything that needs internet access.
If you got this problem, try the following:
1) In your PC, run regedit.
2) Add the following DWORD value:
HKLM / Software / Microsoft / Windows CE Services
DWORD "AllowLSP" = 0
Alternatively, download the reg file below. For Windows Vista/7 users, please update whether this works or not.
Cheers.

Need help with activesync on Win XP SP3!

Hi.
Some days ago i had a problem synchronize my HTC with PC in activesync (pc could not detect HTC), so i decided to reinstall it, but that doesnt solve my problem, instead of i now getting this message "To synchronize this device, you must install 4.5 or newer on your desktop computer." but i already have activesync version build (5096). Then i tried this: Soft reset, Hard reset, tried unistall activesync again - but that doest worked ! Maybe somene know how i can solve this, I'll be very grateful.
if you want to take the small risk, try removing all traces of Activesync connection from your PC and from HTC:
On PC:
1. search for this folder (or similar):
\\Documents and Settings\...your user name...\Application Data\Microsoft\ActiveSync\Profiles\
inside it should be folder with your device name - remove it,
or just remove everything there
2. in registry remove all entries under the key (not the key):
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services\Partners
On HD2:
3. It would be good to make full system backup first, or at least PIM data (contacts, appointments etc.) backup
4. DON'T remove connections in ActiveSync application or you'll lose all your PIM data
5. in registry remove all entries under the keys (not the key):
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\ActiveSync\Partners
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services\Partners
6. you could aslo delete all contents inside Windows\ActiveSync folder - not sure if this is necessary but will not harm you
now restart both your PC and HD2, connect the cable and it should be just like the first time those two have met,
hope it'll work
