I have this issue when connecting HD2 thru USB to the PC (Windows XP). The device cannot connect to internet via ActiveSync (but it syncs flawlessly). I can't play youtube. Can't browse. Can't do anything that needs internet access.
If you got this problem, try the following:
1) In your PC, run regedit.
2) Add the following DWORD value:
HKLM / Software / Microsoft / Windows CE Services
DWORD "AllowLSP" = 0
Alternatively, download the reg file below. For Windows Vista/7 users, please update whether this works or not.
Cheers.

Hey,
Does anyone have any information on how to detect devices connected with ActiveSync programatically?
I want to create a tool to remotely sync file contents on a WM6 device. This is my step 1!
I use VS 2005 (C# / C++).
Thanks.
Hi everybody!
I'm having some trouble connecting a pocket pc to my pc. I'm getting the following error message from activesync when I try to establish a partnership connection:
"Cannot verify the version of ActiveSync on your device. A program such
as a firewall may be blocking a port ActiveSync uses to connect to the
device, or you may need to upgrade to a more recent version od
ActiveSync on the PC"
Even if I try to cardle a virtual pocket pc (visual studio) I get the above message.
I'm using activesync 4.5 on a windows xp service pack 3 pc. Installing AS 3.8 would solve the connection/partnership problem but I must use AS 4.5 because Visual Studio does not except older versions of AS.
I've tried so far everything: allowed all ports needed for AS (even deactivated the firewall) - I tried to delete the partnership folders but found out that they haven't even been created by AS.
Even google couldn't really help me: most people get this error message because they have installed a HSDPA usb modem driver from hauwei. But I did not.
does anyone have a solution for this strange problem?
thank you in advance!
I have the same problem. I once got into it through My Computer but since then I've had no luck whatsoever!
You have exactly the same problem?
if you're not using visual studio just install active sync 3.8 as mentioned above. But I found an uggly solution: Cardle you pocket pc - you will get the regular error message. then open the taskmanager and kill the process rapimgr.exe and restart it again (C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync)
Uncardle and recardle the pocket pc again - you will get a critical error message but it can be ignored. Now you will be able to accees your data.
To deploy your software on pocket pc with visual studio you might restart the remote rocedure call locator (Control panel -> administrative tools -> services)
hope I could help you! but I'm really not satisfied with this solution. I'm open for better ways to solve this problem.
i can not connect my Qtek 2020 to PC via USB .
i have XP on the PC and WM 6.1 on the Qtek
i have the drivers but i don`t know what to do.
i have the WCEUSBSH .CAT . INF and .SYS from the original cd
when i conect the device i get a new Local Area Connection /Microsoft TV , Video Connection ...what is this ?
what do i do?
thanks
activesync include the only required drivers
and activesync is a program you can download free at ms
already tried
does not work even with active sync
make sure you have the latests service packs and updates for your computer
and if you use vista you need to use Windows Mobile Device Center rather then activesync

You are a victim of a well known problem.
Go to settings connections advanced settings and uncheque.
I case the device freezes after you press OK. Softreset and copy the attached file to \Windows folder. After copying rename it to serialusbfn.dll by deleting the last 2 letters.
This is a little workaround to overwrite a ROM-file, without getting an error or using third party apps.
still freezes

How do i set my internet to authentication mode?
I have id and password. But how do i put them in the PDA and
connet to internet??
I have a ipaq hx2750 with a wm 6.5
If you are talking about a WiFi connection then the device should ask you to enter the key after it finds the network. There is not much difference in connecting to a WiFi network with WM6.5, other than the new skin...
Its not just regular wifi. Its authentication mode.
Where you have to put in an id and a password.
Its different from other ntework keys where in other
ones you would just put in a passord with out an id.
You could read a Windows Mobile manual...
Try the Connection Tab under settings. When you've opened up your WiFi networks you can tap on them and change settings like acces mode etc.
where would this manual be?
I dont think a manual will help. Do you know the name of the authentication software used for connecting to this network?
Anyway try this program. Connect your phone using active sync and install it through the computer because there is no CAB file for this program.
Let me know if it works for you.
How do I even install it thorugh active sync?
I'm a noob.....how do I start active sycn anyways?
Plz help me...........
First off, do you have Windows Xp, Vista or Mac?
If it's XP you must install activesync from here
Install it and connect your device to your computer using the USB cable or bluetooth. When a connection is established, open the file I attached before and follow the instructions to install.
If you have Vista, you need Windows Mobile Device Center (WMDC)
If it is not already installed, download it from
here
Install and plug your device to your computer to establish a connection and follow the previous instructions.
If you have MAC, download the sync program from here
Install and follow previous instructions.
Hope this helps
Okay i got it installed but the problem is
the program does not show up on my
start menu or anywhere.......
where can i access this program?
You cant see it installed. Once you turn on wifi, go to start>settings>connections>wifi and select the network you are trying to connect to. In the dropdown menu where you select the security type of the network, select the Securew2 instead of wep or wpa and then the program opens and you can edit the settings.
Hm......i really don't see it........................................
