Hi
My HTC HD T8285 has an Erratic touch screen,I can see letters highlight when typing but sometimes does not display in my sms , web etc.And when tapping on the screen on one icon, something else opens up or closes.Using a stock or flashed rom does not make a difference. The screen does reponse exactly where I touch it,but has a slow reponse or no response or just open up something else. The screen is not damaged.Any suggestions???? Thanks:mad

Have you checked your screen alignment?
Yes I have,I have to keep holding down the stylus over the cross until it moves on its own,if I just tap over the cross it just keeps starting over and over again at the end.
Sounds like a faulty screen, you should only have to tap. how long have you had it?
I think that theres somekinda fix at www.htc.com regarding slow response times --- a fix for touch hd
someone of these http://www.htc.com/europe/supportdownloadlist.aspx?p_id=179&act=sd&cat=all
EDIT: just reread first post and understood that it happens on all roms -- maybe it is something to do with you HD version cuz I have HTC Touch HD T8282 and I dont have any probs like that!!
Moved out of development

From time to time when I do some action on the touch screen the START menu open no reason.
It is happen with no special pattern or certain point touching the screen.
And also happen with 2 different devices with the original and with the new ROM version
Is it a familiar problem ?

Hmz....peculiar problem... I ain't got it like this, but i got some other quirk that seems very close to this: every now and then when i want to single-tap an item to start it (in explorer for instance), the rotating dots show and a context menu opens (like tap-and-hold)... It even happens when i use hardwarekey (ie press enter) to activate item; it still reacts like tap-and-hold
Only every now and then though...
I guess the official ROM update takes so long because of the extensive bug-list they'll have to fix
This second problem seems more like a hardware problem with the way the screen reacts to stylus taps.
Here the solution, from an italian forum: http://www.solopalmari.com/smf/index.php/topic,14373.msg64849.html#msg64849

Quick translation of those pictures into english: the build quality of this device is awful so there will be more and more "weaknesses" discovered through normal "wear and tear", such as paint problems, screen problems, button problems, etc.
Hi,
I have a touch dual, and there are 2 things i have been searching hi and low to find a fix for.
1. When opening any sms or email, it opens, and scrolls right down to the bottom of the sms. I then have to scroll up to see the message. Is getting very annoying...
I was told on the forum here http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=836216&p=1
That it is to do with "Same on the TyTN II. It has to do with the D-Pad scroll from the TouchFlo."
Anyone got any ideas, or registry edits that can fix this.?
2. The keypad on my dual always defaults to the letter C instead of the Letter A. Very annoying when trying to write an sms, as letter a is .. well 100 percent more common by itself than C.
On a side note, i have noticed a bit of sideways movement on my touch 'screen' or the top half of the slider. Is this common? hoping doesnt get worse, might need to get it repaired.
Any help would be appreciated.

A lot of us are getting this, look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=356340
Mine is only a week old, so no problems with the slide ...
However, I've got the same irritation with the C instead of A - very, very irritating.
hi all,
i would like to ask hd users if it has a haptic feedback or if it vibrates whenever i touch the screen. is it built in? i am thinking of getting either the td2 or hd.
thanks everyone!
It does, but not for every touch you make, only for certain buttons etc.
I've only had a quick go on a Touch Diamond 2, but it felt pretty similar to the HD with a Topaz based ROM installed to me. From what I've seen though the TD2 has been faster than the HD in many benchmarks so if you don't mind the slightly smaller screen then the TD2 might be a better option in the long run, especially with official WM6.5 updates.
true. so if i text using hd it does not vibrate when i press the keys when i text? problem is it is still not available in our country. and i am really eager in getting a new device this weekend! plus the 3.5mm jack cant be ignored. the thing i hate the most with td2 is its back cover which gets scratched easily.
The HD vibrates when you type on the keyboard. Or not. It's up to you since it's a setting of the HTC keyboard.

You can install a free app called TouchResponse which I've attached for your convienience which makes every touch you make vibrate on the HD. Once installed go into its settings and activate it for vibrate response

Go to Settings, Personal, Input and click the Options button (not the options tab).
You've got an option there to 'Vibrate when keys are pressed'.
Sometimes when I click on the keyboard to respond to the text, the keyboard scoots over to the right and upwards so that only half of it is displayed. Then in the black space where the keyboard is supposed to be I get the words touch flo 3d is restarting, or whatever that message is when you just start touch flo 3d. I have to soft reset to get it to stop. So does anyone else have this bug?

Yep... seen it several times allready...
I use official HTC dutch rom 1.39.404.3
I also use the official rom but it is in WWE. Maybe the problem only occurs on official roms?
hey, i have done a search but cannot find anything that relates to this.
basically when messaging using the keypad if i make a mistake and press back space to delete a letter occasionally it registers as me hitting N and M at the same time but after a couple attempts it go's back to normal?
does anyone else have this problem?
Although screen sensitivity is ok for me some HD2 users find the screen a little more sensitive than it should be causing mistakes in typing.
Read #29 in this thread, there you can find a cab to decrease the sensitivity of the keyboard.
